  1. Perfect. I’m incorporating that for 2010!

  2. Always!

  3. The “glamorous” woman in this photo isn’t smiling, but the two women that aren’t just sitting in the stands seem to be enjoying themselves plenty.

  4. I want this to be me when I get older. Love this! Thanks Gala!

  5. This is especially great advice now that it’s getting much colder where I am. Instead of throwing on layers on sweatshirts and snow pants (I kid— sort’ve), you can try to look glamorous instead. I love wearing pretty winter coats and awesome tights during the winter.

  6. Fabulous! I totally want that veiled hat that belongs to the woman who looks like she is shivering/annoyed :P

  7. sweet words to live by.
I really feel glamorous when smiling and laughing.

  8. Mary, you have an excellent point – I find those two women just as glamorous as the one sitting in the fur coat!

  9. an excellent picture, honingbij!

i just spent my night at home alone in a chiffon 60’s nightgown with some terribly expensive facial treatments and a glass of merlot … no sweatpants or lean cuisine in sight.

though, to each their own, of course.

  10. When I think about what this means to me, I think of some pretty superficial images, but there has got to be more behind it.

Gala- I’d love to hear what this tip means to you, as I’m sure others would, too!

  11. I’m on it.

  12. Christie — To me, it just means making an effort, & that could mean making dinner instead of eating takeaways, wearing a slip to lounge around the house as opposed to a pair of trackpants, reading a book instead of watching television, etc.! Really to me it means making a choice which makes you feel good as opposed to making a choice which leaves you feeling numbed out. “Glamour” is a pretty abstract concept, but that’s my take on it :>

  13. Love it. Glamor to me is feeling fabulous and beautiful. I would agree that making an effort is a big part of it.

  14. Yes! Lovely tip! And I really appreciated reading your take on glamor. I never thought about being glamorous in that manner, but it really makes sense to me now. I feel that glamor incorporates the expression of individuality, but I often feel pressured to conform to the current fashion and beauty trends to be considered “glamorous”.

  15. Oh my god yes. Cleaning my room for the next hour will be GLAMOROUS.

  16. Yes ma’am! :-)

This is part of why I dig lingerie so much actually. It gives me a lot more opportunities to be glamorous even when I couldn’t wear nice clothes on top due to work reasons.

  18. i love this! this is going to be one the things i will think about when i am getting dressed in the morning – how can i be more glamourous?? hopefully this will force me to make more of an effort every day!! xx

especially cos i just started a new blog, which i’d love u to see and let me know what u think. pls pls pls?

  21. Agreed. When we stop making an effort in anything, we slacken and our souls die a little. Happens to a lot of married couples, people who have had the same job for decades (teachers), etc.

  22. I can not wait for 2010! I will be GLAMOROUS inside and out without any hesitations. Thank you Gala for this blog that you have created…it has completely brought me back to the “cup is half full” side! I enjoy reading it everyday!

  26. This is wonderful! I’m rocking this all through 2010. I think it’s all too easy to be bogged down by the winter weather and put up with being overly slouchy. We should really be living up to our full potential and for me that really means making an effort
