Further to my outfit the other day, here is another way to wear a bow-tie…

Bow-tie in the hair!

Around your beehive, to secure those pesky fly-aways!

    alie — I’m very amateur in the way I do it! I just tease it, grab the long bits, pull them back & clip them with a butterfly clip. Though I saw this a while ago… think I linked it, too… http://youtube.com/watch?v=ee_rDSvOSnY

  5. I know! My boyfriend collects bow ties, he has around 170,and in the most amazing patterns and colors, sometimes he goes nuts when I wear them like that, but at the end he finds it totally cute!

    Nadine — Thank you! It’s an Adidas jacket I bought from Ebay, it’s a child’s one which I think is why it is so *N-E-O-N*! It is eye-gougingly bright purple & aneurysm-inducing lime green. WOWZA!

    Giulianna Rose — Another tip is try doing a beehive the day or two days after you’ve washed your hair. When mine is super-squeaky-clean, it won’t do it properly. I’ve started using dry shampoo which is amazing & I think it is helping add to the majorness of the ‘do!

  17. This is such a creative look, and looks like, “I’m much too posh to work out, but if I must, then, dahling, where’s my bow?”

    I’d love to do that with my hair, have a black bow in it. I think I might look like a walking doll though. ;)

    You look super funky. It’s crazy how you come up with all these different styles for your hair!

  18. THAT bow- tie is really cute, but I am totally hating bow- ties right now because I am FORCED to wear a boring black one at culinary school when we cater weddings. BLAH. Having something that tight around my neck is TORTURE!!
    Incidentally, I am bartending a wedding tomorrow & the groom is from NZ. He has such a cute accent, like you! :)

  22. Whenever I try to achieve a style that’s teased out like this (or for that matter like many of your other styles), I end up with kind of prickly-pointy, drenched spikes. How do you manage to get it so fluffy and light (it’s like cupcake frosting!) without it becoming prickly and wet with hairspray—also, what sort of hairspray do you use?

  23. hehe thats what i do with my bow ties, I hate things around my neck and kinda hate Headbands! Plus Bow ties are the best Hair accessory around, there bold and come in every colour imaginable to match any outfit! its also good way to jazz up your hair when your having a boring casual day! xxx

  25. de Profundis, I think you need to lighten up on the hairspray a bit. When you spray it, the bottle should be at least a foot from your actual hair. I think this applies most hairsprays, though some vary in strength and drying time.
    Also, in some cases you might have to let your hair dry a bit after you’ve sprayed it, just to make sure it stays. You can use a hair dryer to shorten the wait.
