Carousel -- Week Ending 14th September 2007
[ 14 September 2007 ]
It’s Friday & I am another year older! What better way to celebrate the last day of the working week than with a nice dose of eyeball-pleasing procrastination?!
The lovely Ayomide of Breakfast With The People interviewed me recently, & you can read it here!
100 Reasons You’re Still Single. Très funny, but not to be taken seriously! Especially when you spot things you do in amongst it (13. Use emoticons in handwritten letters) — eep! One of my personal favourites is reason #21: Won’t travel anywhere out of “blading distance”!
7 Habits Of Highly Ineffective People from the Positivity Blog. A very good read & definitely an opportunity to see yourself from the other side!
The Devil Has All The Best Costumes from the Telegraph. This is a piece on my hero, Patricia Field, & it’s great!
Two beautiful mixed picture posts from foto_decadent — one & two!
If You Use Solariums, You Are A Goddamn Fool from Fruitybeauty. Too true! Amen, Zoe!
Oh, & if you need something to do this weekend, I suggest seeing Hairspray! I saw it yesterday & it was awesome. It made me really happy!
Love letters & feather headdresses,

Gala I keep spotting you at odd times! i feel like a stalker! We passed you leaving hoyts yesterday!
If you ever see a girl with a purple ghost pin on a black double brested jacket, that’s me :P
we went and saw hairspray aswell and i have to say it was the most amazing most fun movie ever!
I am in love with how it looked the colour in that movie was amazing. Did you spot john waters and rikki lake’s cameos??
I was so excited after we left the cinema, it just put us all in a good mood I think
hgsdfhlsgal
im so exited
that video helped me fufill my beehive dreams!!
super easy too
hm. I think that one of the seven habits of highly ineffectual people answered the question to why I’m still single. It’s totally not because I shout out the answers to Wheel of Fortune, or because I secretly covet that All Things Considered totebag (shut up!), it’s because 80% of success is just showing up, and I don’t actually go on a lot of dates…
But it would be a lot simpler if the answer was just that I say “Tar-zhay” — then I could stop, and I’d magically not be single anymore.
Belated but still Happy Birthday!
How awesome was Hairspray, the dance routines just made my eyes pop at how amazing they were. I loved the outfits and everything, I want to go back and have fun in that era. Just minus the racism! I think Seaweed put all the white kids to shame though, he had some fantastic moves.
I LOVE the costumes in The Devil Wears Prada. I was amazed that all that ludicrously over-the-top stuff looked so good!
Re: Solariums/Tanning Beds
I can’t believe there are people who don’t know how horrible tanning beds are. I’m from Florida but extremely fair (aka Irish Chicken Meat skin), and luckily never got into tanning. It was way to boring to lay around like a hot dog under a heat lamp. I’ve since moved to North Carolina and it amazes me how many tanning salons are here. People are obsessed with it, and with getting tanned/burned.
Is the whole skin cancer message not getting through? Why is tanning and being tanned still considered a good thing. Maybe we need some ribbons and races to get it more noticed and more awareness about it. How about a white ribbon edged in red?
Please please please don’t layout and don’t go out without sunscreen. Not only will you look younger and better, but You. Won’t. Die.
I also always ask if babies and kids have sunscreen on too. You would be surprised how many don’t.
In it for the long haul.
Luv
Poochie

loved those two post on foto_decadent!! they were just fantastic, I felt a sudend urge of inspiration thanks to those photos..
I saw Hairspray a wouple of weeks ago, I just left so happy from the teather… and couldnt stop singing for two days , my bestfriend says her ears aren´t back to normal yet XD
Kelly — Ahhh! How funny. Please say hello next time ;> Hairspray was so great, maybe we were in the same showing?! I didn’t see John or Ricki in it, I guess I am not observant enough!
the opoponax — Maybe that should be a resolution for the end of 2007 — meet people & go on more dates! Showing up (for life) is pretty important.
Jess — Thank you sweetheart! Yes, Seaweed was totally slick & I loved his hair, it was incredible.
Nadine — Me toooo! Best stylist ever!
Poochie — Yup, it’s crazy. I have always embraced my pasty pallor, but then there are a lot of countries where the browner the better. Australia is chronic for it. I actually have a voucher for a spray tan & I am going to try it, just because I think I will look bizarre! It will be an interesting experiment!
Diana — Yay, glad you liked them! Oh, & I just got the Hairspray soundtrack so I’m going to be crooning along to it for the next YEAR probably…
John was the flasher at the very beginning and Rikki was one of the dance judges. Very cool!
I just read about your spray tan voucher, if you do decide to do it are you able to document it? I’ve been playing around with the idea of a spray tan I am very pale also and am really not sure how a spray tan would work on my skin.
kelly — Oh, cool! & yes, I was planning on using it as the basis of an article because I thought I might look crazy using my normal foundation, etc.! But I will write it up for sure.
Ooh, I desperately want to see Hairspray! I love a good musical! :D
And I’m kinda happy with my pale skin :]. I don’t really think a tan would suit me.
But I’d NEVER go to a solarium. They scare me a bit, anyway :P
Oh Gala, doesn’t Hairspray just rock? It’s the only film I’ve voluntarily seen twice in the cinema. I was so happy leaving the cinema, I didn’t want pudding when I got home. That is pretty momentous!
I can’t wait for the DVD – I’m gonna go backcombing crazy and have a themed party!
Miri — You should see it, definitely! Run, don’t walk, to your nearest cinema! ;D I’m happy with my pale skin too, I just thought it would be interesting experiment. Plus, the spray tan only lasts a week so I wouldn’t be permanently bronze!
Rosie — Your party sounds awesome, hell yeah!
Happy Belated Birthday!
Gala, the main problem is that I hate Dating.
Though a resolution to get out and about more, and seek out situations where I might actually meet someone (hint: probably not at the mailbox sending off another round of Netflix videos) would be a grand idea…
I had contemplated using a tanning bed. But I shall no longer entertain the thought. Peace be with Clare.
hello darling happy belated birthday.
i’ve been really busy so i haven’t really been commenting, but i just had to drop by to tell you that i met patricia field today. unfortunately, i was so star struck (she’s my hero too), i was a disaster. she’s gorgeous and had such an aura. i can’t believe i did what i did though. i’m so disappointed with myself. bah.
