Happy Friday! Take a spin!
Tarotscopes for February from HiC. Everything HiC writes is fantastic — have a read.
Lily Donaldson goes grocery shopping. I love this. It makes me want to dress up & go to the markets. In fact, I think I will!

Cupcake recipes to try, for those who fear not dairy products!: Lavender Cream Filled Cupcake with Citrus Cream Cheese Frosting, Mini Chili Chocolate Cupcakes with Chili Chocolate Ganache Frosting (I used an altered version of this recipe recently & it was AMAZING) & Peanut Butter Filled Chocolate Cupcakes with Chocolate Ganache. Drool!
Have a bad case of Valentine’s Day angst? Why not celebrate Black Day instead, like scorned Koreans?!
I received an email from Guy Kawasaki on Tuesday, telling me that iCiNG was included in their fashion page on Alltop. Basically what happens with Alltop is that you can read fashion news from 45 sites, side-by-side, at a glance. How fabulous is that! It is, of course, a great privilege to be included but also, what a brilliant idea! I know I’ll be bookmarking it!
Valentine’s Day Outfits, drummed up by the fabulous Nubby Twiglet!
Rethinking Complaining from DailyOM. I could not agree more. This is a very valuable (& quick) read.
An Eckhart Tolle live broadcast for only $39.95. Worth every penny!
Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy Cancer is an awesome blog about dealing with cancer & adversity of all kinds. Kris’ enthusiasm & joy in the face of disease is awesome & a real sight to behold. Even for those of us who don’t have cancer, it’s a great blog to read regularly. See below!
“From this day forward let it be known that this is NOT just a cancer community. We are a loving group of seekers, holy rollers, hot tomatos, handy cowboys, urth mothers, food lovers, health advocates, makers of change, voters, yogi’s, teachers, children of blinding light, and truth spinners. Do you fit in here? Heck yeah!”

21 Powerful Reasons To Exercise. We all know we should exercise, but do you really know why?
True Life: I Want The Perfect Body — this is really interesting.
What follows is The Eternal Children documentary featuring CocoRosie, Antony (of Antony & the Johnsons — one of my favourite all time musicians), Vashti Bunyan & Devendra Banhart. So good!
Super-love & cupcakes,

Eckhart Tolle is amazing! Thanks for the link Gala :)
Really interesting articles this week, especially the 21 reasons to excercise, which I bookmarked. When I am suffering from a lack of motivation, I will look at the article and decide to do something healthy and positive instead of laying on the couch with a bag of chips.
Of course, new workout gear could also be just as motivating ;). Daddy???
Love,
Alex xx
Thank you for the mention. Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!
Guy
The Eternal Children documentary is greatttt! It’s actually dutch so I saw it on tv here in Holland about a year ago and I was really inspired. I’ve watched it again on youtube a couple of months ago and I totally want to see it again now! It’s such a must see! They live so freely and pure and their way of making music really blows my mind! My favorite part is definitely when sierra claims that her hair was cut by fairies! Loooove the Carousel Gala, as usual!
Lots of love,
Fleur!
mmm, Chockylit is love. the peanut butter cupcake recipe calls for 22 TABLESPOONS OF BUTTER. can you imagine counting that out, one by one? holy crap!
I just won a radio contest!...I got like two pounds of chocolate kisses!
goood thing that there’s no diet on valentine’s day! haha
Everybody gave me chocolates and one of my friends gave me a rose.
I feel special n_n.
Gala!
Appreciate the love!
I look forward to all your posts, but Carousel is my fav for sure. Tons of great things on here.
Have a fantastic weekend.
I say do dress up!!!! I’m the Queen of Being Overdressed; heels and sparkly jewelry are my friends. ;) hehe! Golly—I even dress up for 8am classes. There is just something so fun and liberating about dressing up for no reason other than because you feel like it and it makes you smile!!!
Thank you for the link to the article on exercising. I’ve been exercising three times a week, for forty minutes each day since before Christmas. Its good to know that my exercise has so many great benefits (besides tight abs! rofl!![]())
Have a lovely weekend, Gala!
wow, i’ve never even heard of the eternal children documentary but i’m so excited because i’m in love with all those bands! especially devendra. i just saw him less than a month ago at amobea [a record store] in san francisco where i live. devendra concerts are some of the best i’ve ever seen. i also highly recommend checking out his artwork, i got really lucky & i got to see some at an exhibit at the moma in sf. devendra is hands down on of the nicest & most talented musicians ever.
Great links, thanks for entertaining me with all these fab things to read and see
:D
this has nothing to do with this post gala
i just wanted to let you know that your new page header is awesome!!
i love the cartoon of you its amazing :)
hope your having a wonderful day
The new page header is PERFECT!
Wow! Loads of love! xxx
Helooo Gala,
As with kellyclare, this has nothing to do with the post, but i too want to compliment you on the header. =D
I love, love, love, love the new page header!!!!!!!!!!!
It is the best!! I especially love the angle from which you were drawn ( I think it helps balance the big blue circle), and how your feet go out onto the side border. The colours are amazing and coordinate perfectly with the rest of your site. The actual drawing and perception of you is so frickin’ awesome, and I think the image is so perfect as a representation of you and your site!!!!
Yay, I’m not sure why, but that pic made me really happy, whoever made it did an excellent job, btw, who did make it?
Anyways it’s awesome.
Thanks so much cuties! My boyfriend (my hero!) & I have been fiddling with this stuff all day. Nice to hear that it was worth it!
sandr+ — It’s by India Kalff, who is AMAZING! www.indianink.net.nz…
thanks for posting these links, Gala. I’m really liking the ones about raw & processed food, very interesting.
just wanted to share a piece i wrote about you on collegecandy.com.

you’re such an inspiration! : )
Oh my God. I love Antony and the Johnsons. The first time I ever heard “Hope There’s Someone”, I cried like a wee baby.
I always love finding more fans of Antony…they can be few and far between, in my experience.
One of the most important and expressive artists around. Wow.
Heh heh.. I remember Black Day and those horrid black noodles..Even though the thought of “black” noodles sounds digusting, I eat them at least one a week. They’re pretty good. =)
erica — Thank you so much, I saw that! I went to your ‘author’ page to try & send you a note but I was foiled! Anyway, you are great. I appreciate it a lot. Merci, merci, merci beaucoup!
Jen — Yeah, if I am not at my happiest moment, that song has the ability to reduce me to tears too :>
