Carousel -- Week Ending 1st August 2008
[ 31 July 2008 ]
Wow, it’s August already! How bizarre is that?!
This is another little Carousel — but I’m going for a quality over quantity thing here!
I love 5ives. Five more terrible fake reality TV shows, Five rejected names for “Cooter” on The Dukes of Hazzard, Five terrible fake astronomical pickup lines, Five “Web 2.0″ ways to break up with your boyfriend, Five rejected names for a single-serving meal product & Five things that should be issued to every American on his or her 14th birthday.
Bedposted is one of the most interesting things I’ve seen in a long time. It’s a web 2.0 application designed to give you insight into your sex life… Any takers?
“Simply log in after every time you have sex and fill out a few simple fields. Before long, you’ll have a rolling history of your sex life on which to reflect.”
Violet Blue, perennial girl crush, writes about how to get your (sexual) groove back. 5 handy tips to get yo’ motor running!
Joy sent me this link to Yeondoo Jung’s photography where he recreated children’s illustrations. So dreamy & surreal, I love it!
A lovely piece from my future wife… Ask Nubby #9: Rocking your Style with Confidence!
Australians, get involved in Cupcake Day For The RSPCA! Or else! Behold my threatening hand movements!
Wishcraft the book, online for free! (Thank you, Anne Anne!)
I love this outfit on The Sartorialist. I know not everyone will agree, but I think it is 100% fabulous. The exceptionally high quality photograph doesn’t hurt either, though…
A collection of queen-themed photos. I like! Whee!
Alright sweet-pea; enjoy your weekend!
Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala ![]()

Lovely, but you digress.
Where are the hair photos?!
x
Oh I LOVE Violet’s article! Thanks for sharing!
The Queen Themed entry on LJ is beautiful; thank you for posting that Gala. Have you ever tried making Witchcraft Potions? I’ve read about “love spells” and you have to make a potion out of rose petals, purfume and things like that.
It’s all so FABULOUS! :)
x Lucy
It’s still July here. ;)
Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month
NO RETURNS! :D
Cupcake day for RSPCA!, I’m already drawing up cupcake decoration designs. Cheers for the link Gala :)
A condom at 14? I guess little girls nowadays are more precocious than I thought…
Those photographs of children’s illustrations revisited are beautiful! Such a simple concept, but so unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
Hah, I agree with Wednesday’s Child. (:
And I would like to say that your plentiful sex references in the last three or so posts have made me giggle. (:
I read the article by Nubby & it sounded so much like what you write. You two are very similar, no wonder you’re such good friends.
Bedposted looks like it could be quite.. interesting ;) Haha
I love the queen-at-the-beach photo. And I’m so tickled that the subtitle for Bedposted is ‘it’s business time’. It’s a weird feeling when stuff you’ve liked for ages here in little old NZ suddenly becomes global . .
i was hoping the queen themed photos were more along the lines of the band..
Galaaaa! The queen-themed photos are a-ma-zing! I love me anything royalty-related. :)
Speaking of which, I just interviewed a real-life Princess for my blogazine. :)

I loved Nubby’s and Violet’s posts. Probably the best carousel you’ve ever done!
The modren weddomg is soooooo my fav!
Keep up the little carousels, Miss Gala! I get too overwhelmed by the giant ones (and the Virgo in me feels like a failure if I can’t read every piece, ha).
And thanks for the Nubby article; I am a huge fan of the “everyday luxury” way of living and that was a lovely reminder.
xo,
MG
I think this has been the best Week Ending list yet! Great finds!
Enjoy your weekend! I’m sure it’ll be fabulous!
Oh, I just love Barbara Sher’s Wishcraft! My copy is extremely old and battered, and filled with underlined passages and marginalia. I’m off to download myself a shiny new copy :-)
All Gala’s Non-Pareils – You really must go and have a read of Wishcraft – it truly is a great book with the potential to change lives. This book has a special place on my bookshelf, along with Henriette Anne Klauser’s Write It Down, Make It Happen, Sara Beak’s The Red Book and Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way. I’m just waiting for Gala’s book now…
I just signed up for a cupcake day kit- yaaaay!
The illustration based photos are brilliant!
Hey girl, I’m glad you liked the Jung photographs. I totally thought of you when I was saw them. I wish I could find some larger hi-res versions!
oh wowwwwwwww Yeondoo Jung’s photography is wonderful! i love how colourful childrens drawings are and the fact loadsa of things are out of scale so when it’s transformed into real life it looks sooooo surreal and amazing rather than just scribbles! i love the outfits they are wearing in the photographs :D i feel so inspired! i wanna sew, but i don’t have my sewing machine with me :(!
lol that’s so funny, I actually registered to be a cupcake hostess earlier this afternoon! what a coincidence! i’m so excited, i plan to make it a totally gastro(nomically)licious day for all attending :D
Oh i have a ‘thing’ for lists.. mmh so i’m going to probably like 5ives. and thank you soo much for linking the Wishcraft book i never heared about it before but it looks really intresting and something that could help me out now.
Mmh i don’t really get the purpose of Bedpost ‘Simply log in after every time you have sex and fill out a few simple fields. Before long, you’ll have a rolling history of your sex life on which to reflect. Use the tagging feature to provide even deeper insight into your activities, and use the partner feature to record as many partners as you encounter.’
Why should you want to put that on the WorldWideWeb?
Have a great weekend x
Arigatou.
Jazakalah-khair.
Grazie mille.
Shukria.
Merci BEAUCOUP!
Thank you in 5 different languages for linking Wishcraft. The craft half is going to help me SOMUCH this year!
Sartorialist photo – oh yes, oh yes! There’s a book I read awhile back — Bravehearts/Men in Skirts — which is full of amazing photography and beautiful clothes.
