Bunnymunch!

I’m actually feeling kind of bunnyriffic in general today. I would love to have one as a pet. Anyway, I can’t help myself… here is some CUTE to fill your day with joy!

Bunnyswoon!
1. Mornin’, 2. Easter Bunny or Guinea pig ?, 3. Macro-Bunny, 4. fukusuke-pon 福助ぽん.

Alright! Now onto your weekly dose of distraction!

<3 Karl Lagerfeld’s High Fashion photoshoot. I love this, it’s so classic & elegant.

<3 Learn to fold an origami heart! Eeeee! Definitely a worthwhile project.

<3 Interior decorating — Sex & The City style. Even though I didn’t adore the movie, this is still a very interesting article!

<3 Cities & Ambition by Paul Graham. “Great cities attract ambitious people. You can sense it when you walk around one. In a hundred subtle ways, the city sends you a message: you could do more; you should try harder. The surprising thing is how different these messages can be. New York tells you, above all: you should make more money. There are other messages too, of course. You should be hipper. You should be better looking. But the clearest message is that you should be richer. ... When you ask what message a city sends, you sometimes get surprising answers.”

<3 The fantastic Winona of Daddy Likey is giving away a Prada wallet — all you have to do is write a fashion haiku! Go, go!

<3 From the lovely Nubby Twiglet: It’s Not About Them, It’s About You: How To Keep A Positive Perspective in Your Life. She has a good brain, that girl!

<3 Rachel Kramer Bussel of Cupcakes Take The Cake (& the world of erotica) fame interviewed Jess of Sugadeaux cupcakes at the cupcake picnic last weekend. Too cute!

<3 Monica of Ocker Zeal interviewed me last week — thanks ma’am!

<3 The new issue of Prim magazine is out now — & the editor is only 14 years old! Incredible!

<3 The Positivity Blog is still kicking ass & taking names. Have a read of A Seven-Point Checklist For Lifting Yourself Up & Out Of A Bad Day & Five Timeless Tips On Writing.

<3 The 20 Biggest Online Time Wasters, and 6 Strategies for Beating Them... if you want to! From Dumb Little Man.

<3 For anyone looking to expand their photographic repertoire, Digital Photography School has a piece on How To Do An Editorial Fashion Photography Spread. It’s an interesting insight into how much work actually goes into creating those editorials.

<3 People in London! Run, don’t walk, to the Tim Walker exhibition at The Design Museum! He is one of the most incredible photographers ever (I wrote about him here), so you should go along & behold his fabulous work! (& then let me know how it went!)

I love Yayoi Kusama!

<3 & finally… Madonna’s Sex book — totally not safe for work!

Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala <3

  2. rest assured Gala, bunnies make terrific pets! Sometimes they aren’t as friendly and snuggly as you would like them to be, but usually they are full of love and bunny kisses to give. =) and they are sooooooooo cute!

  10. Oh, yey! I ALWAYS make a heart just like that out of money if I have to leave a tip or pay someone back! Everyone’s always super-amazed, which makes me feel quite special, since it’s really pretty simple….

That bunny-nose picture has to be the cutest thing I’ve seen in some time! I feel a new desktop coming…

  11. Awwww bunny! <3 That is SO adorable! I’ve never had a pet rabbit before, i’m actually allergic to Animal Dander, so I have to be careful with what type of animal I keep as a pet.

Do you like birds? They have some small and adorable birds, real birds or cute plush birds!

I am definitely saving that heart-folding page, I have oragami books, but none of them tell me how to make hearts! Thanks Gala for having an amazing Blog / Magazine! I hope to have devoted readers like you do someday, I just started blogging :)

  16. Adorable bunnies! My cousin keeps a rabbit as a house pet, and treats it like a cat — no cage, just a bunny-litter-box, a food dish, a wall mounted watering station, and he’s careful about leaving paper lying about. The little thing is adorable, friendly, and a terrific bottom-of-the-bed foot warmer in the winter.

Many thanks for the previous poster who mentioned folding money into heart shapes to leave as tips — that’s definitely something I’ll put to use in the future. Spreading the love through NYC!

  19. You know, I was wondering what other amazing people you’ve met or stumbled upon through this blog. You name drop Krisatomic and Nubby like mad (and there’s nothing wrong with that, cause they’re pretty great) but I was wondering what other people inspire you. I guess I just like being turned on to new people and new things.

    <3 aziza x · Jun 21, 10:13 AM · #
  20. ss — Nope! I just looked it up, it sounds rad! Did you enjoy it?

Alice — That is the coolest idea ever. LOVE it! Now I’m going to have to learn to fold a heart!

Chris — I’m actually not really into birds, they kind of freak me out! I think it’s the wings… it’s weird, too, I used to be fine with them & then a few years ago I just became frightened of them! & I’ve never had a traumatic experience with them or anything, so I don’t really know where it came from!

giulianna — Hmmm, bunnyscar isn’t as cute as bunnymunch & bunnyswoon! ;D

Jamie — Ahh, how timely! ‘Tis the season to be bunny, fa la la la la, la la la la!

gittamarie — Happy with how it all turned out? It’s a pretty great show :> Have you seen the movie?

Loulou! — Oh my god. Bunnies in hats! Wayyyyy too cute. Criminally so!

aziza x — I link pretty much every fabulous person or thing that I find, usually in my Carousel, so it’s the place to watch! It’s weird too, sometimes I will find a site I like but they only update twice & then that’s it. So it’s often striking that balance between inspiration, genius & regularity that is the tricky bit!

  21. My friend has a houserabbit and before she got him neutered, he went through a phase of ‘spraying’ to mark his territory. One day he climbed up on the back of the sofa next to her head, lifted his little tail and sprayed in her face!!

Enough to put you of rabbits for life. My boyfriend is dying for a houserabbit though.

  22. OMG the bunnies! _

And bunny poop is very easy to clean and pellet-like. It looks like kibble!

    <3 Annie · Jun 21, 11:47 AM · #
  23. This isn’t really much to do with carousel but I love how “How to perform a strip tease” has rocketed to the top of the “most popular” list! I can only imagine what we’re all up to! ;P

    <3 Vixxie · Jun 21, 12:14 PM · #
  24. Gala!! if your in NYC on Monday night…she’s speaking and you would totally love her! I mean I’ve never met her but her book is fabulous!

    <3 ss · Jun 21, 12:19 PM · #
  25. Joanne — Hmmm. Yes. Bunny spray in the eye? Not so cute :\ !

Annie — Poop is poop, no matter how easy it is to clean up!

    Vixxie — Haha! NAUGHTY WENCHES!

ss — Oh wow! I just looked it up & made a reservation. Thank you so much for telling me!

    <3 Gala · Jun 21, 12:33 PM · #
  26. how did you make a reservation??? I couldn’t figure it out so am just going to show up?? did you just email them or call?? thanks and I’ll see you there!

  29. girl bunnies are more expensive so if they charge you for a girl and it turns out to have extra accessories
make sure you take it back and show em so you get your money back.

thats what happen with me but i definatly love my bunny but i wish he was a girl D:

  30. Gala,
So, Patrick Bateman, eh? I completely understand, I went through a phase with that as well.
I think of all the outfit pics you have posted thus far, I love the one of you in the fuzzy jacket, big sunglasses , purple hair…you look so quirky & yet adorable…kind of like the cute little bunnies.
I once read in a fashion rag that someone thought of Karl Lagerfeld as their fashion spirit animal. Might he be everyone’s? (Or at least anyone with eyes for elegance?)
Thanks for exposing me to Prim. It’s totally bitchin; I love the snarky to-the-point style it’s written in and the fashion spreads are pretty impressive as well (given especially that the mag is still in it’s infancy).
As always, thank you for sharing your impeccable taste.

  32. Gala,

Don’t get a bunny on a whim; they are actually a lot of work. They require more attention than your average pet rodent. This website has a ton of bunny info:
    www.myhouserabbit.com/

Also, don’t forget to check your local animal shelter for bunnies. They tend to be friendlier and cheaper at an animal shelter.

    <3 Sarah · Jun 22, 08:43 AM · #
  33. Prim magazine is really impressive for the tiny staff & age of the editor! My god. The photo spreads are better than a conde nast glossy, it featured real creative people from all over the world, & you’re even invited to contribute on the last page! Wonderful. I’m inspired to get off my butt & do something now.

    <3 Rachel Radness! · Jun 22, 10:50 AM · #
  34. Gala… I had a pet houserabbit named Monster – and she house-trained herself! They’re usually v. clean actually. Mind you, Monster’s worst habit was chewing through electric cables and rendering the applicances useless. Bunnies like to chew! However, you should seriously get one – surely way more original than a chihuahua sitting pretty in your handbag? x

    <3 Claire A · Jun 22, 11:45 AM · #
  35. i absolutely love your blog! haha, it makes me so happy :D

    <3 beatrice · Jun 22, 12:21 PM · #
  36. I actually have the Karl Lagerfeld High Fashion shoot. It’s so much more beautiful in the magazine.
