<3 More Nubby-inspired madness… As I was trying to hunt out a lovely vintage birthday party dress, I stumbled upon this guide to the best online vintage shops! Goldmine!

  1. The tie and shirt combos are strangely addictive! I have to stop myself…

  2. Yay shirts & ties & timezone compatibility – just made the deadline! ;D

  3. that video is amazing! i wish i could work on a spinning pole.

i think this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6KnUW9N3Zo) is my favorite pole dancer though, she won the australia competition the year after.

    <3 Rachel Radness! · Aug 22, 01:55 PM · #
  4. That video is delicious! It’s amazing what clothing can do— she’s so strong and lean, and moves with the attitude (and style) of a fierce acrobat or trapeze artist. She is like watching a performance at the circus or carnival, rather than watching a pole dance.

  6. Wow! I love the shirt and tyies and I can’t express how happy I am about the whole Gala-Nubby team thing.. I was thinking wouldn’t it be cool if, when you do get married, we could combine your name but..Gubby? Nala? I’m not so sure..? Although Nala was so my favourite character in The Lion King! Such an attitude! :P

Also I missed TILT but I’ve just got back from Las Vegas and it was AMAZING! I love love loved every second!
And… I ate DEEP FRIED OREOS! It was so not what I expected! Have you ever tried them? You must track them down if you haven’t…even if you think it’s gross!

If you go onto my blog there’s an overwhelming (Really, took like forever, but once I started stumbleupon I could not stop) list of links! Feel free to nick ‘em!

If not, are you interested in giving it a try before you leave the country? Happy to give you an intro session, especially if you could convince Jo to come along with you :)

  19. Hi Gala,

    Guess what, we’re blog sisters!

I found your galadarling.com website for the first time today, and I was shocked and surprised to see that our monikers are almost the same! I’m Carla Darling, and my blog is www.carladarling.blogspot.com! I think it’s cool that our names are similar- it’s the weirdest coincidence!

Anyway, I have fallen in love with your writing and your website…it’s so beautiful and delicious! You sound like a really fun and cool person. Keep up the great work!

    <3 sophie~ · Aug 23, 02:46 AM · #
  21. Hey, thanks for the link, and thanks also to the shirt/tie appreciators. Doe, there are more people in the world than it’s feasible for me to date, so I’m not too bothered that you’ve removed yourself from contention. For more thoughts on that subject, see this video:

  22. I always forget about Exploding Dog, and it always makes me giggle. Thanks for the reminder, and Happy Friday!

  23. Oh I’ve just remembered at the beggining of next year my college class is going on a trip to London, I think it’s during the fashion week. That would sense considering I’m studying fashion!

We’ll be staying in a hotel in rooms with four per room with two huge double beds…Bed Jumping Olimpics! =D

  24. I just wanted to say ‘thanks’ for the art school tips. I myself am starting art school in 3 days! I am really nervous, but those tips Mooky Chick posted are so helpful.

Thank you again, Mooky Chick for the wisdom and Gala for bringing it to us!

    <3 Trish · Aug 23, 07:25 AM · #
  25. The author of “How to Survive Art School” goes to my college. =D

  26. You can buy a hat like that Pierrot Hat With Pom Pom from Topshop.
Gala I dare you to wear it down Cuba street on a Friday night.

    <3 che · Aug 23, 01:45 PM · #
  27. I loved the art school list – i forwarded it to my friend at art school in auckland and she loved it. As an aside – you should check out this auction number 172511471 on trademe, i think it’s right up your alley!

    <3 Charlene · Aug 23, 02:08 PM · #
  28. i giggled at the art school list! a lot of it seemed really silly, like we’re all living in ‘art school confidential’!!! i mean, really.

but the sound pieces! and the bed jumping! a lovely lil carousel :)

    <3 Natalie · Aug 23, 04:58 PM · #
  29. Thanks for the mention! I love your site, so it was very cool that you found mine. Plus, I’ve been in contact with many of the vintage sellers on the list, and they’re so nice and hard-working. I hope they get a lot more business from this!

    <3 Renee · Aug 23, 07:22 PM · #
  30. Hehe, as everyone says, your timing is immaculate!

I just had a pole dance lesson with Jamilla DeVille here in Wellington yesterday! She is really lovely and friendly, and so so strong and knowledgeable. I saw her perform on Friday and Saturday night too, and she’s just a-fricken-mazing. So much strength and energy in such a tiny little woman!

I’ll echo witnit’s offer of a lesson here in Welly if you’re still keen. I only run one class on a Saturday at 11:30am though, so witnit might be able to suit your timetable a little better. :)

    <3 Ritalin · Aug 25, 02:23 PM · #
  31. Hey Ritalin! wave

Yeah, I can do a lesson pretty much any week night or weekend day, just need a day or two of warning to book the room out.
