Happy Friday!
I wrote a little piece on kissing a while back, but for those of you who want more information on one of the best activities ever, Violet Blue has released a DRM-free ebook that is exactly what you’re after! How To Kiss is a measly $10 & while I haven’t read it (I consider myself a pro, ha!), I am willing to bet that it is worth every penny.
Serviced by Steven Meisel. I do love me a bit o’ Meisel.
I am really interested in reading Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster, even moreso now that I’ve seen this on Boing Boing.
For prospective (or current) bloggers… Bloggers: Be FOCUSED, ORIGINAL, and full of fiery PASSION! (I like this guy’s attitude. He is very enthusiastic.)
Things to say when someone has broken up with you. Take heed!
Trinny & Susannah to the rescue with more advice on dressing for body types. Take it with a grain of salt, but there are some good ideas here.
Can Taste Be Taught? from the New York Times Style magazine.
How to solve an ugly wood panelling problem, from the ourbedrooms community on Livejournal. Just paint it white! Check out the difference.
Polar bears love dogs, ‘tis true! Thanks, No Impact Man! (I always picture a guy with his underpants over his clothes when I read his name.)
Say Bonjour to a New You This Winter : A French Woman’s Guide to Fashion from StyleBites! This is totally cute.
How to Wake Up Feeling Totally Alert from Steve Pavlina.
I’m on a panel of judges (along with Andrae Gonzalo from Project Runway, the designers of Madison Harding & Stephanie Lichten) for a contest at My It Things where you can win $3000 just by writing about fashion or style! There is more information here & I encourage you to enter! $3000 is nothing to thumb your nose at, you know!
Fans of James & August in Australia can get $10 off orders over $100 using the code “AUS07” during checkout!
For some reason, all these photos from Los Angeles Fashion Week are totally captivating. Who said LA doesn’t have style? Granted, there are a lot of short skirts & brown legs, but who cares? I love some of these outfits a lot.
If you, too, are keen on wearing pearls somewhere other than around your neck, & ankles just aren’t cutting it for you, why not do as Lacquer does & wear them in your hair? (Beautiful. Another hair accessory that would complement a beehive perfectly!)
David Lynch + Christian Louboutin = sweet, fetishy children.
Beautiful pictures of food in Japan from she who eats. I don’t know how she manages to make it all look so appealing but… she does!

Awww, that My It Things competition is only open to residents of the USA and Canada. Bummer.
Oh, and “Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Lustre” is that book I was trying to tell you about like a fortnight ago, but I couldn’t remember what it was called! So I’m glad you found it on your own accord, haha.
And I LOVE the Lynch and Louboutin collaboration. It opened on my birthday. In France. And I wasn’t there to see it.
I love those dinosaur comics.
And Steve Pavlina wins. He always has good things to say…much like yourself. :-D
Hmmm, Trinny and Susannah’s body-type classifications – am I right in thinking that the difference between a cello and an hourglass is a bit of breadth in the shoulders and a bit of length in the leg? What happens if you’re short and basically fit the profile of hourglass, but have shoulders that somewhat balance your ample chest? Take the ‘top half’ recommendations of the cello, and try to mash them with the bottom half of the hourglass?
Now all I see are sandy string instruments….
Carousels are my favorite part of your blog! I always save them for Friday night when I get everything done and the hectic week is over. I come home and curl up in my computer chair and click through the lists you’ve put together. There’s always something interesting : ]
Aw! In the LA Fashion Week link Charlotte Froom and Tennessee Thomas of the Like are in there. I think they’re adorable.
I always hate those ‘dress for your shape’ things, because I never know what the hell shape I am. I’m a hourglass-brick-vase-cello. shifty eyes
That third video is great, I think I will go sing the song when I take my shower in a minute. For some reason the idea of having a swimming pool become a washing vat containing a brass quartet is really appealling to me.
You always find the neatest stuff.
Ha, I forgot that asterisks make bold. Now my shifty eyes are really really really shifty.
And that ‘appealling’ should have just one l. Yes.
WOW. The pearls-in-hair thing is inspired! I can’t believe I never thought of that before! Totally going to do that tomorrow.
Aww, I love T-Rex he’s the coolest. “Oh, were we dating?”
I am now totally smitten with those Dinosaur comics. I’m glad there are years of archived ones to read through. More fuel for my Internet addiction!
I had do to a big research presention on changes in the Luxury market for a client. Like vanity sizing the massification/masstige is, I think, cheapening what used to be quality companies and products.
And personally, I don’t like those ballet fetish shoes, no matter who makes them. I know they are all in fun here, but in reality they bug me.
Happy Friday all!

When I saw this video, it reminded me of something you would enjoy. It’s one of the more beautiful I have come across on my searches through YouTube.
Love you gala!

about the pearls, last week I bought a pearl headband and I’m saving it for my birthday hehe…pearls on the hair look beautiful :)
Ugh. I hate those body shape things. They never have my shape. Well, they do, but its never as extreme as I am. The ‘hourglass’ girl they had modelling was basically shapeless! My waist is 11 inches smaller than my breast and bottom. 11 INCHES! So what am I supposed to do? Wear fitted clothes to show off my curves? Ppl don’t make clothes THAT fitted.
Lynch and Louboutin. That’s an interesting combination but I love Lynch to death so I loved that.
And those body shape things never work for me. If anything I get distressed looking at them. Okay, maybe not distressed but you know.
Oh my gosh—so many great links!! :D
I totally agree about LA having great style! Though a lot of people (including born and raised US East-Coast-dweller) tend to characterize SoCal style as fake tan/blond/mini skirt, I think its no different than anywhere else. I was in LA last summer and I couldn’t believe some of the awesome street style I spotted while we were driving around! My gosh, I was sooo inspired! ;)
gorgeous stuff! i’m in love with the pearls-in-the-hair bit – i’m definitely trying it!
and the manu delago video is just amazing :)
HAHAHAHA I love the photo cliche’s article!
I’m totally envious of the guy with the Hang drum! I’ve wanted one of those lovely instruments since I first heard one played on Youtube. Pity, I don’t think I’ll be able to play one for a good few years.
OMIGOD i thought that guy was playing woks, and i was like WOW that’s amazing!
Buahahahah!
