Christian Louboutin
[ 24 December 2007 ]

Questions & answers. Excerpted from The Little Black Book of Style, by Nina Garcia.
Q: What should a woman look for or avoid when shoe shopping?
A: Depending on the ankle, avoid the ankle strap. If you have a great leg, then great, but the ankle strap can cut off the leg instead of elongating.
Q: What is the one shoe every woman should own?
A: A classic black pump with a four-inch straight heel.
Q: Why the red sole?
A: It’s a green light for men.

So true about the ankle strap aka the cankle strap. Avoid unless you’re elle macpherson or something.
Also, Gala….I’ve been searching LJ to no avail for a gossip girl ahem sharing community…I suspect it’s private anyway…are you able to point me in the right direction?

p.s. ONE DAY UNTIL xMAS!
Q: Why the red sole?
A: It’s a green light for men.
For some reason, I think that is SO cute. I love these excerpts!
“Because it’s a green light for men.”
HOW SAUCY IS HE?!
I don’t know about the 4” heel thing, but I absolutely agree with the black pumps mantra.
I need this book!
xoxo.
I must get four inch black pumps!!!
I love this book, it goes on my to-read list.
Kisses.
I have the pumps with the strap! I guess I have hella long legs (37” inseam… nice, but try buying pants), because they don’t seem to shorten me legs that much. Also, I haven’t really worn them “in public” yet… ahem.
This book is totally going on my list, though… all this great advice. :)
I lurv Louboutins, as my blog posting can attest, but while I think we all need a classic black pump (and 15 other black heel versions, right?) I wouldn’t spend Louboutin-levels of money on one.
A Louboutin is a work of art and should be adored and noticed as such. A black pump, while classic, may not be as eye-catching.
The more your going to spend on a shoe, the more unique it should be. For Louboutins I’ve bought:
Black suede peep-toe(Yo Yo Zeppas)
Nude peep-toe with black lace
Cork and gold slingbacks
Nude patent with Swarovski encrusted heels (Clichy)
Bright Azure Satin d’Orsays (Helmut)
If you’re going to flash that red sole, make it a show-stopper.

I know we all need one (plus 15 other black heel versions, right?) but if I’m going to drop that kind of cash, I want the shoe to make you stop and stare. They need to be worthy of admiration and worship.
When I’ve bought Louboutins, or any other higher-end shoe, the more unique the better. I’ve bought:
Black Suede Yo Yo Zeppa Peep-toes
Nude with black lace overlay peep-toes
Gold and cork slingbacks
Nude patent Clichy pumps with Swarovski crystal encrusted heels
Bright Azure Satin Helmut d’Orsays
If you’re going to flash that red sole, make it a show-stopper.

I’m not sure why my post goes missing and then shows up.
Sorry for the duplicate posting!

I love the red sole! His red soles are one of the few “signatures” in shoes that are recognizable by pretty much anyone who knows a bit about fashion.
Oh, designer shoes. Something I can never concern myself with, as they are not made for giantesses such as I.
How charming! I really wish I could get ahold of this book. Thank you Gala!
