Daily Outfit: 14th January 2010
[ 15 January 2010 ]

Last night Chloe & I went to a bridal fashion show. After munching on miniature red velvet cupcakes & being saddled with excellent gift bags (which included every kind of shoe insole possible — I can totally use these — & Essie nailpolish, etc.), we decided to go somewhere & get a drink.
We stumbled out onto Madison Avenue, which smelt like burnt toast. I don’t know the area very well, but I remembered that the New York Palace was nearby. I stayed there in May 2008 & it was really the start of my New York love affair. Oh, how things have changed in less than two years!
After making our way along to the hotel, we took a couple of seats at Gilt & ate (me: grilled cheese sandwich with black truffles & french onion soup [aka The Gossip Grill], scotch + ginger ale; Chloe: dirty martini, oysters), before sneaking into the ballroom to take pictures…

It was big & fancy.
I wore…
Black wool hat from Visage (I told you I was wearing it every day! I love it because it dresses everything down, which you need sometimes)
Violet ruffle dress bought at a strange shop on Broadway (I have really “had my money’s worth” of wear from this thing)
Studded belt from Forever 21
Black angora cardigan by Kimchi Blue
Black sequinned knit open cardigan by Forever 21
Black ribbed stockings
BCBG Mendel booties (mmmmmmmmph)
Betsey Johnson watch

Hello pony foot! Just call me Mr Ed!

Laughing at Gilt. Look at all the men in SUITS! Mr Works-On-Wall-Street over there is totally thinking, ‘Who is this nut?’ Meanwhile, I am eating a bread-stick & oblivious.
P.S. Gilt comes hiiiiighly recommended. I had never been there before, & even though we were obviously not the usual clientele & were only eating from the lowly bar menu, they were still really rad to us. They plied us with free drinks, didn’t charge me for my meal because it came out late, & served us caramel popcorn in a little silver dish. Word. Plus, it is really beautiful inside. Look! So cool. Last night, that plastic thing was lit up turquoise.

This photo makes me think of girls who put posters of boys they like on the wall. “Oh he’s so DREAMY!“ Hahah!

All photos by Chloe, who I love. Expect many more collaborations from us in the near future!
Love letters & feather headdresses,

Your shoes = LOVE!
‘‘BCBG Mendel booties (mmmmmmmmph)’‘
MMMMMMPH was my exact reaction! YUM. Sounds like a you had a good time, you look lovely too! xo
Wow. I ADORE that dress.
Beautiful photos – the backdrop looks amazing & very Marie Antoinette…and those shoes are insane…they are bringing cloven hoof to a new level
I’m wondering what bridal show & what brought you there?
Your dress is stunning, and how amazing is that ballroom!
omg gala that dress is stunning, and yet again u look perfect.. But do tell.. A bridal show? Seems a bit different for you
Looking beautiful, as usual. I’m totally coveting your sequined cardigan, and it sounds like you scored some pretty good swag!
Aww! And your outfit is so dreamy too. ;)
You guys ARE dreamy! Gala posters coming soon? Bahaha.
I love the way you’ve put the two cardigans together. It’s not something I would have thought of, and it looks fantastic.
My love of the bright, beautiful dress is a given. ;)
jess & miss s — I get invitations to all kinds of stuff, & I have been so obsessed with Say Yes To The Dress recently that I decided I should go! The show wasn’t what I thought it would be, but then, things seldom are! ;D
perfect from head to toe!!!!
One of my favorite things is finding a piece of clothing that I end up wearing at least once a week. My current obsession is a black tee with a lightning bolt on it. It fits perfectly and is soooo soft!
What gorgeous photos, and what a pretty frame around the first photo! Is there a web site where you find frames for online pictures like that?
Those shoes!! I’m not usually big on that texture, but I think you rock ‘em well.
bridal show? i attended one once & it was the most boring experience in my entire life (okay, maybe not, but top ten at least…). but your outfit looks super cute & i love love love the dress!
wonderful and I love it! I’m sure your evening was deliriously magical.
I am seriously one of those girls who looves posters. My bedroom wall looks like it’s documenting a casting call for the next French new wave film ever. ahh, if only it were so…
I see quite the wedding theme on iCiNG lately, Gala. First rock’n‘roll brides, now this, and I see you’re watching Say Yes to the Dress (aka one of my favorites, I want to move to Kleinfeld’s and become the resident compliment-giver)? Anyway, don’t stop because I just adore it all!
Very, very lovely! You should def keep wearing that har because it looks amazing with your hair. Also Gala, I swear you have “fairy” hair, all white and floaty but tinged with little pink sparkles.
Gala, my dear, Mr Ed NEVER looked as fabulous as u! Not that he can’t be totally, jealous of those gorgeous shoes! Gotta say, luvluvluv the outfit! Completely to die for! As usual!
Aw clip clop hoofers. So cute!
Adorable pictures! I have a question. I want to get engineer boots but am not sure whether to get black or gaucho. Opinion?

The booties! Much love for them!
Gilt looks great! Love the interior!
i miss you so much xxxx
Your pictures are always so gorgeous! And I am completely in love with that picture frame around the first photo— would you mind sharing where you found it at?
I HAVE THOSE SHOES! HI FIVE
These boots are so funny…they look like a goat’s feet, especially in the 4th picture! (ehrm, i mean it in a cute way, obviously ^^)
But mr Wall Street is definitely the funniest thing ever XD
I’ve noticed that many of the pictures on your blog are not loading for me. I’m on Google Chrome. Anyone else having this problem?
These shots are totally gorgeous :)
And YET AGAIN, I frikkin’ love those shoes!!

I also always have trouble loading your photos, using the latest version of Firefox. I find that there are some that load, and others that are black boxes; if I refresh the page, some photos load but others do not.
This happens in my Google Reader too. Gala, I hate missing your images!
I got that Betsey watch for Christmas. It’s amaze-balls!
Hey, I hate to be a naysayer in a sea of compliments, but I miss your old style sometimes. I know that people change, and you’re very well dressed, and very trendy. That’s not a bad thing. It looks very mature. I just wish everything wasn’t Forever 21, BCBG, etc. all the time. It seems a little limited. I still read your blog though, and loved your piece on the Psychedelic Ladies at Lunch. I hate to come across as a negative sourpuss, so please don’t take me as one.
My goodness, I have a Silence and Noise cardigan that looks very similar to the Kimchi Blue one you have under the shiny! Thanks for inspiring me to wear it in different ways than I’m used to!
Gala you are so awesome! You are living my dream life lady!!That Wall Street jock was obviously just eying you up hehe.xx
I’m sensing a lot of wedding mentions (which is very exciting) and also, the man in the blue shirt in a suit behind you in the picture of you with a breadstick reminds me of Colin Firth (which is also very exciting!)
Goodness, your life seems so fabulous!! And I am mighty jealous of your amazing booties – those BCBG Mendel Wedges are to die for. Much love
I LOVELOVELOVE the black wool hat, any chance of being able to order one online?
I love this outfit and these photos. That backdrop is so gorgeous! :)
hello there…im just wake up ..watching your news..ready for a new day…kisses from italy..
Massimo
where did you find the frame image that you used for the first photo?
I love the pics! Nice outfit!
