Daily Outfit -- 16th August 2008
[ 17 August 2008 ]

Long-sleeved black merino wool top
Patent leather cinch belt
Long black cardigan from Urban Outfitters
Skirt from H&M
Black lamé leggings from American Apparel
Frye Veronica shortie boots
Black pashmina wound around my neck about a billion times
‘Oui’ diamante necklace
Dangly earrings from Tokyomade

I know that my daily outfits have been a bit thin on the ground recently! I’m living out of one suitcase which I packed in a hurry in Melbourne, & because I was still in my summer mindset, I didn’t really pack anything that is much use to me! I have mostly been living in my father’s thermal long johns… Honestly. But last night I went out, so I thought it was worth getting dressed up for!
I hope my suitcases arrive soon… !
Love letters & feather headdresses,

pretty! i love those boots so much! do you know where i could get them? i’m heading to america soon so i’ll be shopping like crazy!! just found out my hotel is on the same street as american apparel too – so i’m going to be buying everything i can get my hands on!
oooh florals! you look lovely. I wore florals too, yesterday: http://sweetfancytreat.blogspot.com/2008/08/i-stopped-staring-and-opened-my-eyes.html
kisses!
p.s. i love how your hair matches your skirt ;)
I love how your hair is pretty much the same shade as the flowers on the skirt, was that deliberate?
I agree with kaz – the boots are gorgeous! as is the whole look…as usual :)
xx
kaz — You can buy them on Zappos: www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/36353300… That’s where I got mine from. Have fun shopping in the States! Take comfortable shoes!
Daiane — Your outfit is superb, cutie!
Toria — The skirt is pretty much the only colourful thing in my suitcase, so it was coincidence. Though when I was in the States I was on a fuchsia kick, couldn’t get enough of it, I bought so much! So I now have a whole lot of things which match my hair ;>
Ooo. I really like your belt. xD I think that all the little accents that you put into this outfit really make it. The skirt really stands out, big wow factor.
dala, i love how u throw things together and make them work! im so envious! when will u be leaving for nyc???
xx
aw, you look lovely, doll. that skirt is awesome!
I love that skirt.
im lovin ur new hair it looks AWESUM! i have long blonde hair an ive died it blue and pink and purple before but now i cant because of work!! it sucks!! i love your outfit u look nice and warm its freezing here in bendigo! xxx
You look great! It’s fun seeing you take stuff you wore in NYC all the time like the skirt and belt and remix them for winter!
Love it!
Gala I miss Cupcake, where is it???
xx
Far out, that’s a pretty cool combo for living out of one suitcase! And thermal long johns rock :P
cute x
You’re glamorous as always, Gala. Even living out of one measly suitcase, you still end up rocking it.
That’s one of many reasons why we love you. :)
You look marvelous as usual, I like the boots and the skirt the most.
I totally love how this outfit compliments your hair n_n.
I love this! You look beautiful.
80s skirt!! Love the way the necklace peeps out from under the pashmina.
cute! I can only imagine how hard it must be to switch from a humid NYC summer to wintertime in a matter of days.
jessicat — At the moment it looks like I’ll be leaving on the 4th of September… 3 weeks, 3 weeks!
Juby — It’s on hiatus!
eliza — Yes ma’am! It’s a great skirt, I adore it. It’s exactly what I was looking for at the time!
Lizzie — Yeah, it has been pretty punishing! I’m going back to the warm weather in 3 weeks, though… & by the time I return to NZ it will be warming up here, too. Yay!
I love how your hair matches your skirt/dress!
Im dying to see how you dress for winter! Im living in canada, and the winter is the worst!! up to -40!!! is really hard to style inside a huge ugly jacket!! I hope you get your suitcases soon too!!! Many muacks!!!
i love this this is probably my favorite winter outfit you’ve worn.
Love the pops of colour in your skirt, it’s absolutely adorable.
PS: I’ve been a fan of your blog for some time now, always inspiring and filled to the brim with loveliness!
Aw man, I am soooo jealous! I love winter dressing, it’s so much easier than summer.
You look good!
you are exceedingly fabulous
Looking gorgeous, Gala!
P.S. Thank-you MUCHLY for introducing me to the excellence that is Zappo’s – it is incredible! I have spent all morning looking at shoes, swooooon!
Beth — I’ll trade you! Having to put on a billion layers is totally doing my head in at the moment!
x Miss Corrine x — Zappos is dangerous! I love them though, I am always really impressed by their service.
eliza — Haha. No one can do it like she does, unfortunately!
Hey Gala,
At least you do winter style with flair… the only difference between most of my pics from Christchurch is my wooly hats and my hair style. With the snow coming down unexpectedly I spent every day we were outside rugged up in a big black wool/cashmere jacket – you couldn’t see any of my clothes!
Gala! I love that floral skirt, so ladylike. :) We’re having terrible weather this side of the world (Ireland) and I just can’t pick out any summer clothes that can hold up to the amount of rain we’re having (75mm/day). Do you have any ideas for looking cute in torrential rain??
Well, you’re certainly making do in style! Hope the rest of your duds arrive safely and soon.
That cincher is so fantastic – I can’t believe how much mileage you’ve gotten out of it!
And it’s true: everybody loves daily outfits! I just did one of my own today for the blogazine. :D
You pull that outfit off very well. I’d never be able to.
Gala! I love this outfit! it is perfect for winter with a great POP of color, you rock it well!
Living out of a suitcase and still managing to look this fabulous. I hope I can acquire this skill over the next month! Moving to Matamata next month.
Oh dear I’m madly in love with that skirt, wish I had an H&M over here!
