Daily Outfit -- 17th December 2008
[ 16 December 2008 ]

Aw, cheer up, emo kid!
This is my super-casual, mooching-around-the-city outfit. It was kind of chilly today. I wore it to do an interview in the back of a café & drink lots of coffee.

Check out my mother’s brand new kitchen! It totally outshines me… & we clash. I clash with this entire house. But now do you see why I have nicknamed it the Swiss Hotel?
Nubby totally needs to come here & do a photoshoot.
Awesome custom scarf knitted by my clever friend Erin, worn as a hat — her Etsy shop is here! Get her to make you something cosy & help give her a good Christmas!
Purple hoop earrings ($5, bargain, love them)
Holographic unicorn necklace
Black slip from Urban Outfitters (this has had so much wear, & was about $10)
Faux-Maison Martin Margiela jeans
Cardigan from Country Road (ditto on the so much wear thing)
Frye Veronica Shortie boots (uh, ditto)
Self-made bracelets with Swarovski crystals, clear quartz, hematite, rose quartz & blue chalcedony
Wedding ring & Tarina Tarantino ring (um… ditto again)

Love letters & feather headdresses,

this kitchen, and your skin, are both completely and 100% beautiful :o
Adore the cardigan, adore the slip, and adore you!
PS, I really hope you start up iCiNG Treats again soon! I need somewhere to spend Christmas moolah…
I soo wish I could make comfy look so fashionable. I promise I’ll send you a pic of my severely cut-up jeans the second I put them up on flickr. I’ve been extremely busy/lazy this week. They didn’t fray quite as nicely as yours when I threw them into the dryer, but they were cheap jeans anyway so no biggie. They still make me feel awesome. Plus, I was sitting in Starbucks wearing them and totally bohemian-ing it (aka reading and drinking a caramel macchiato) and some guy walked up to me and told me I was gorgeous! I definitely have to give you props for my really sweet compliment, so thanks Gala!
me — It is an amazing kitchen. Amazing.
Andrea — They won’t be re-activated before Christmas unfortunately! Sorry to disappoint…
Emcee Morgan — Aw, that is lovely! Compliments are the best. I’m glad your jeans worked out & I would love to see a picture!
yayayay such a fun photoshoot, and i love your mom’s new kitchen… so shiny hahaha!
Stunning, you and the kitchen! I understand why it is nicknamed the Swiss Hotel!
I love how the white benchtop continues up the wall, did your mother design the kitchen herself?
I love that scarf! I can never get headscarves to work on me – my hair is just too straight/flat/smooth.
this kitchen rocks! (and you too obviously :D )
I love that kitchen :3
The Kitchen extremely reminds me of the gentlemen’s bathroom in The Shining :o I love that bathroom haha and your mama’s kitchen also!
That kitchen is so much red. I am actually picturing what it would be like if the kitchen matched your hair instead of clashed. So much PINK!!!
I am falling more in love with your parents house the more I see. Who ever designed it (your mum?) has mad skills!
Can see where you get it from.
Your outfit is completely superb.. and what an amazing kitchen! Hope your interview went well, Gala – fingers and toes crossed!
Omg! Cute much!
That kitchen is fab! I think your mother and I have the same thought patterns when it comes to kitchens.
And You totally outshine the kitchen, not the kitchen outshining you.
so cute. I love everything about this picture.
gala i am in love with your parents place (and u ofcourse)as a geeky interior arch student i would love it if u did a piece on the place ie more photos!!
ps what was the interview for?
and.. when are we wellingtonians gonna get a chance to meet up-would be fantastic to talk to you!
OMG! I wish I could live in your mama’s kitchen! It’s really close to what I’d like my “dream house” to be decorated like. I love the outfit too. You look so “punk as fuck” yet so comfortable at the same time.
you are too cute.
and wtf, incredi-kitchen. your parents are supa-stylin’. i can see where you get your amazingness from, eh.
“The Kitchen extremely reminds me of the gentlemen’s bathroom in The Shining :o I love that bathroom haha and your mama’s kitchen also!”
Haha, you just read my mind! I found that the creepist scene!
Anywho, I’ma lovin’ the jeans.
I do similiar things to my tights. Expensive ones that my sister hits me for ruining x)
x
OK, let your mother know that I am officially moving into her kitchen! That place is amazing. Modern + red + sleek = Ahhhhhh!
Ridiculously shiny! I’m mesmerized!
Also, you are too cute. I am going to beat the cute right out of you and steal it! Actually never, because you wear your cuteness so well!!
holy pagoly,
I want to visit.
and eat there.
and cook there. and make delicious things there
(not restricted to food!)
I admire your pants. I want them.
That cardi looks so comfy! I’ve been looking for something like that for a while just for wrapping up on the sofa in!
I officially have house envy too, your parents’ kitchen is stunning! All the bits we’ve seen of their place in the background of your photos are like looking at the realisation of my dream interior!
cute!
Gala! I live in Christchurch, New Zealand, and i was wondering where you found your hollographic unicorn christmas decoration that your made into a necklace. I absolutely adore it, and i really hope it was from a place that is up and down the country!!
Oh and also, your parents kitchen, :O there are no words.
xx
cute outfit! i love the scarf! your friends knitted stuff looks awesome!
stunning as usual… :.)! and the kitchen takes my breath away!
well you’re just adorable.
I looove how you dance in photos. I dance at work.
[I work at a juice bar in an office building, all the customers are angry, all the time]
Awww in the first picture especially you look so beautiful! I love this outfit (and the kitchen is… beyond words)!
Oh Gala, I luuuurve how your nails, jewellery and head scarf match your hair!
Who cares if you clash with the kitchen, you look fab! :)
Andd yes the kitchen is insane, definately Swiss Hotel material.
Makes me think of Ikea, but more upmarket.
So clean and storage-esk!
xx
Oh my god – I can’t believe that is her kitchen! Do you have more photos of it? Phenomenal… how would I go about convincing you to take and then post a full spread of the kitchen for me (and everyone) to see?! I absolutely adore it, but I am dying to see how that one little piece (that I can see in your photos) fits into the whole room.
:)
Is that your KITCHEN!?
WOW!
You look fabulous!
How do you make comfy look so cute Gala?! You’re so adorable.
Your mom’s house looks amazing! Can you give us a house tour one day? please?
Looove your cardigan !!! Kisses ;)
you should do a post about the house. the kitchen looks soooooo modern. i would love to see the rest of it.
Ashleah — Yup. Well, they had an architect, but my father says most of the clever ideas came from my mother ;D
Nadine — It’s knitted, so it’s knobbly! It would stay on you, I bet!
Ms Constantine — My mother has style for days! She amazes me!
x Miss Corrine x — Thank you, dollface!
Aiden Applegate — Aw, that is very sweet of you to say. Mwah!
lykke li — I think my mother would have a heart attack, because they don’t have all their furniture yet… You will just have to settle for the little snippets you get in my outfit photos for now!
GodlessCupcake — Hahah, thank you! “Punk as fuck” is totally the last way I would ever describe myself though, haha!
Nubby — It’s SO YOU! There are lots of cupboards. I would make you a little bed in one :D
Nana in the Theatre — Make your own! It’s eeeeasy!
Vixel — I love this cardigan so much. I bought it a couple of years ago & I wear it all the time, & on pretty much every plane I ever take. It’s perfect for snuggling into!
Tamara — I bought it in a design shop & I have seen it in other ones… Try that kind of store & you might have some luck!
Lucy — I dance all the time, hahah. Yay for dancing juice girl! I’m sure you bring a little bit of happiness to the angry office people’s lives!
Char — Aw, thank you! I didn’t feel super-pretty today!
GaGaVida — When the house is done, I will!
I love your big sweater but honestly, I love your mom’s kitchen more! Is that weird to say?
For some reason, I’ve always wanted a huge kitchen filled with lots of red cupboards and drawers where I can bake cupcakes and cheesecake!!
Your mom’s kitchen is amazing!!!
these photos seem so much more fun that the usual ones. Love it!
I absolutely adore that slip. I might go to the Urban Outfitters website and invest in one myself.
Are those cute chandeliers I see in the reflection of Mama Darling’s cabinets?? Please show us!!
I love the cabs!!! So shiny and new:)
i am SO JEALOUS of your parents’ house, haha! when i grow up…
also i am in love with those jeans, i sort of want to try it out myself. hmmmm!
That kitchen is yummy, not just the decor, but from what I can see the tabletop looks HUGE and I LOVE cooking. Ahh, love.
Ok so I think this everytime I see a picture of you in your blog but its especially true in this picture. I LOVE your hair. You look like you’re meant to naturally have pink hair, it’s fabulous (how on earth do you keep it so vibrant?)
Your mum is officially AWESOME! Holy crap that is the coolest kitchen I have ever seen. I have always wanted great expanses of red in my dream kitchen too. I already have the red appliances! And lots of white, black and silver. Yes.
I think your parents would like my parents haha I know that sounds weird. But my folks are totally cool and artsy and unique and I think yours must be too.
holy shiny kitchens, batman! that is crazy! and it makes me super jealous… give mama darling my personal thumbs up! lol
and, i can see a definite NZ look going on there… dark colors, layers… and the gala influence – bright accessories, the lady wearing it all… haha, i definitely support the inclusion of holograms in daily fashion.
Beeeeeyooootiful kitchen! I, the one who almost started designing clothes, may now have a future in cooking! Though i would still draw and sew. I love big clean kitchens that you can do anything in.
I can’t wait until iCiNG treats starts up again
On a completely different subject, I think you should come way up here to Vancouver. But maybe in the spirng or summer, when its pretty and not so cold!
I am intensely, intensely in love with this outfit. I might have to borrow this from you: I am constantly seeing darling slips, but I never ever wear slips, so I never have a reason to buy them. But now I know how I can wear them! Haha, I might have to be tall to pull that of though (now that I know your height.)
Also, you wear your holographic unicorn necklace a lot, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a close up of it. Any chance you could provide us with a closer look at it? Atm it doesn’t look holographic to me, just silvery.
I LOVE YOUR DRESS!
Wait… where did the rest of my comment disappear to?
weird… anyway, I’m kind of envious, because you can wear a dress…! It’s so cold where I live, and I have to wear (at least!) two woolen jumpers and a huge, warm and puffy jacket when I go outside. It’s hard to be fashionable in winter.
(and I would also love to see a close up of the unicorn necklace!)
I get all uber excited when I see designs for rooms since I want to be an interior designer, and this kitchen is definitely designed awesomely! I especially love the bright red for the color! (: It definitely would make me awake to cook a lot.
And, I love how you use a slip as a dress (:. How do you keep your hair soooo perfectly pinK!
I don’t like this style!
