[ 19 August 2007 ]

I’m on my way to my first fashion show of the season…
Puff!
Grey long-sleeved t from Portmans
Black dress from Portmans
Pink scarf around my waist (usually worn on my head but I decided my outfit needed it)
Black leggings
Manolo Blahnik black heels
Tarina Tarantino rings & pearls & swarovski bracelet

My nose is so EXTREME!
It’s colder out there than it looks so I’m going to have to throw a coat over the top…

Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala ![]()

Again, I love the way you pull off black.
I’ve been meaning to try out a kind of pompadour since I got my hair cut but I’m worried my curls will mess it up and I’ll just get some kind of Jew-pomp and look ridiculous. o.o;;
I miss your knotted pearls, but love how you pin broaches on your new pearls.
Give us some details on the fashion show!! (And have fun while you’re there) :D
Oooh a fashion show! Jealous! Details, please:)
I love your eye makeup. You look wonderful!
yay! have fun!!
I’m so jealous of your Manolos.
I was thisclose to treating myself to a pair after Hurricane Katrina, but then the glorious pair was sold out in my size.

i went to a wonderful art show the other day (camillerosegarcia.com) at the san jose museum of art and i noticed that tarina tarantino owned one of the paintings being exhibited.
at first i didn’t know why the name sounded familiar, and it bothered me for about ten minutes, but then i was like “ohhhhh!!! gala’s skull ring!” and i got was able to get on with my day. :)
just had to share my random story. i’m so jealous of ms. tarantino as the painting was unbelievably gorgeous.
I love it when you go with that understated-except-for-the-*HAIR!* look. Also loving the scarf around waist – nice bit of folding there. Full fashion show report requested please; and seriously, with eyes like that, no one is paying the slightest bit of attention to your nose.
I love your nose.
It’s a ‘family nose’ I bet. Never change it, it’s one of the reasons I found you so interesting when I first discovered your blog…
The outfit is great. Black with the strong pink accents and the layering! I like it a lot! Also, I agree with Bex, your nose is great, so charming. A bit like Ashlee Simpson’s old nose, which I also loved. I’m not even really a fan of hers, but when she changed it I was really sad and angry. Such a pity! I used to get teased about my nose when I was younger and always dreamed of having a smaller one (which of course just wouldn’t suit me …) Now I’ve grown into it and really like it. I’m quite happy about that! :-)
Gala
You looked quite chic.
How did you go over with the stodgier crowd – or were they edgy and fun too?

Your nose is not extreme! I think it’s perfect for you! And you look gorgeous as ever! (And I’m so in love with your apartment!
diggin’ the look and ah-mazing eye makeup
how do you get your pomp so high?!
I think the make up is right on for the event! Very nice.
Pawleen — My suggestion is to use a straightener & a lot of product. I basically spray the bejesus out of mine with hairspray & that works for me. But then, my hair is dead straight. Give it a go! My knotted pearls have disappeared because the clasp broke, so I bought a new set which are strung too tightly for me to knot! & I hope you liked my haiku!
Kori — Your wish is my command. & thank you!
Kayla — Merci, I did! I got stared at a bit though — the crowd was pretty pedestrian!
Ashe Mischief — Aw, sorry to hear it! Keep the faith & you’ll own a pair in no time :>
rachel — Hee! I love Tarina! I’m pleased to have introduced you to her goodies, isn’t she brilliant?! Was it a CRG painting that she owned or was it by someone else? I get the impression that Tarina’s house would be quite a sight to behold, I’d love to see a magazine profile it. I know that Betsey Johnson’s house is going to be in the August issue of Elle Decor UK & I am DEFINITELY going to pick up a copy.
Nadine — Do haiku count as full coverage? ;D (You will get more extensive coverage of the better shows at fashion week, never fear!)
Bex — It sure is, my father has the same one, except mine isn’t as wide. I love strong noses, my two most serious boyfriends have both been blessed with a big schnozz! & really, my nose caused you to think I was interesting?! I would never have guessed! Thank you for telling me!
frostpatterns — I wish she hadn’t changed her nose too! When I saw her after all her surgery (chin, nose, etc.), she looked COMPLETELY different. Very generic blonde Hollywood, she has absolutely no distinguishing characteristics anymore, which is very sad. I’ve never really cared much for her either but I do think it’s a shame to buckle under the pressure to be conventionally beautiful & give all that individuality up…
Poochie — I was stared at but mostly it was fine. I’m used to it ;>
Gesine — Oh, merci! You’re too kind!
Clothes Horse — Thank you! I thought I should go for a big cat’s eye given the rest of my outfit was so conservative…
Dani — LOTS of hairspray!
Flutterby — My makeup was more extreme than the girls on the catwalk, for sure!
I love your whole outfit!!! It is so rockin’ cool! And your eye makeup is just gorgeous!! I wish I had the guts to wear such dramatic makeup every-once-in-awhile. ;)
