Here is what I wore to go out for a Japanese meal with my parents, half-sister, her husband & my boyfriend. It was tasty & we had a good time.

New hat from Mimco (like it?!)
Pink/gold scarf over my hair
Black Carhartt singlet
Black dress by Laurie Foon (with purple fabric belt)
Black fingerless gloves made by my genius friend, Ana Steele
Black stockings
Manolo Blahniks
Knotted pearls & Tarina Tarantino ring
New weird handcuff bag!

I also wore a coat & a scarf but didn’t remember to photograph it!
Super-love & cupcakes,

I love your new hat! It looks especially fabulous with the scarf underneath. Can we get an extra view of the handbag?
Mais oui, bien sûr! Your wish is my command :> It has a handcuff attached to the chain, so you just clink it around your wrist & off you go :D & aussi, merci beaucoup ma petit!
Aww! It looks like you just went dancing in a Chicago club, where all the lights started flashing “GALA” and you danced with Michael Jackson.
Or, Gene Kelly.
Which ever you prefer.
:3
Vair vair cute!
La bourse, elle est vraiment unique! Ou l’avez-vous trouver?! :O
So chic wearing all black, with that little bit of hot pink hair peeking out. And the handcuff bag is great. Love it. *
fabulous outfit!!! :D you are always so creative with your outfits… ;)
wow you really like that scarf eh? :) i love the hat and i think you look great in black. very chic.
Simply marvellous! I agree with Retro.Bunny’s dancing comment. :)
gilda — I know, I’m crazy about it, haha. It’s just such a good colour & it’s so comfortable! Plus, it’s the first headscarf I ever owned (it came in a goodie bag from the first fashion show I ever attended, too) so it has a special place in my heart!
Thanks everyone! My mother kept telling me that people were staring at me, hee hee.
You Looked Gorgeous.
And i’m not suprised everyone kept looking at you!
You looked wonderful.
=]
xx
oh isn’t it a good sign when people just stare? you look fabulous and they’re jealous! haha! well i tell myself that;) better than thinking, “oh god do i look dumb?”
i do think that scarf is in a gorgeous color and from a goodie bag too! some best things in life are free.
Thanks for the extra views! What a fantastic little purse!! I love that handcuff idea…Hmmm…I might have to commandeer that idea into a future crafty project! I’ve already made a clutch out of a book, so i don’t see why i wouldn’t be able to do something fun with handcuffs as well!
Are you doing fish-lips in that first photo? I’m SO on to you!!
Love this outfit so much. Very elegant gangster. :)
Domm — Thank you so much sweetie!
gilda — It was just weird because I was trying not to look at them! I didn’t want to embarrass them, haha, I thought if they wanted to look I would just let them!
l3antha — Ooh, clever clever! Yeah, I’m sure it would be a doddle to reproduce!
Nadia — DUCK lips! Not fish lips! HAHA, “trout pout”! No, I’m not actually ;> I don’t bother anymore, MK trumps me every time!
So gorgeous! Love the hat; hats are definately wicked cool, and yours especially.
God you are so cute in that 4th photo. The hat and gloves are giving me 80s flashbacks! And I agree that the pink hair peeking out is delightful.
HAHAHAHA!
Oh, look, they’re all animals, right? Silly Nadia. :P
Hi darling! That hat looks gorgeous on you! Wish I could pull it off but I’ve been told (I have such ‘encouraging’ comrades) that my head could land me a role in E.T. Maybe one day I’ll send you a photo and you can tell me if you agree? (PLEASE JUST LIE IF YOU DO!) Oh and your bag reminds me of those cuff bags (the ones with handles you wrap around your arm) in the new Prada ads. SO WEIRD! I’d love to see someone try to pull that one off in nobody-dares-because-everyone-stares Singapore.
S_parkle — Thank you! I love hats but don’t wear them often enough! I’m so keen on that one though, hopefully I will wear it all the time.
Nadine — I’m so Michael Jackson! Shamoa!
Nadia — You are adorable :D
Hid — Link me to the new Prada ads because I can’t picture it! I’m sure you don’t have an alien head, your encouraging comrades need a kick up the bum!
Ultimate class! The hat and headscarf top this off beautifully.
I notice you always have the curtains open during these shoots. I’d be paranoid about trenchcoat-wearing hermits in neighbouring apartments watching me through binoculars wondering why I was prancing around in front of a mirror and tripod.
india — We are up so high that we don’t really have any neighbours! The only residential building near us is a block away — I can sometimes see in there but without binoculars, I can’t get any detail! That was the long way of saying, I don’t really worry about people looking in on me :>
Etiquette question: You know how it’s usually polite for boys to take off their hats when they’re inside, or eating dinner, or something that requires a touch more formality.
Does that apply to girls, and hats like that?
Anna Rose – I’m not sure about general dinner, or being inside as a day to day thing, but as far as formal occasions are concerned eg; any church ceremony, graduations, prize givings etc, women are supposed to keep their hats on.
At weddings in particular, women’s hats are to be worn throughout the ceremony, and reception until after the meal. So basically you keep on your hat until after dinner, pretty much.
Anna Rose — Damsel is completely correct, for women, hats are acceptable at all times. It used to be that women never wore hats after sunset, since they didn’t need a brim — but now women wear them for fashion rather than necessity, so I think it’s a moot point. It’s quite an interesting subject, you can read more at http://www.villagehatshop.com/hat_etiquette.html !
This is kinda nutty, but . . . I heard/read that men took their hats off as a sign of respect because removing your hat makes you appear shorter/smaller. By the same token, women keep their hats on in formal situations to rein in the crazy-mad alluring powers of their hair.
The things I never knew!
Thanks!
