Daily Outfit -- 21st May 2008
[ 21 May 2008 ]
Having new places to take photos is really, really great.

I call this the “chronic migraine” pose. Haha.
Very relaxed today… going to get coffee, go to the supermarket & the laundry (didn’t make it yesterday!), then coming back here to write up a frenzy!
Diamante hairclip (bought from the wedding section of a Super-Walmart — yes, scary)
American Apparel sweater (I bought it yesterday & it is so cozy, I love it)
3/4 pants from H&M (this is the other pair I bought — this is my favourite style of pants ever ever ever ever, & I can never find them, so I am so happy!)
Silver mesh heels from Nine West (they had a store in Gainesville which was closing down — these were $21)

“You talkin’ to me?!”

Sitting in my window. Eeee! I love this city. The sun is out today & it is gorgeous. I’m so happy.
Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala ![]()

hahaha… you’re so cute! Yes, Super Wal-Mart is a lil scary, but in a friendly sort of way.
Also, the legal drinking age in the US is 21.
Hehe— I’m looking at these pictures, saying ‘Don’t fall! Don’t fall!’
so, I read about you at the no impact man blog today. :)
are you moving to the states for good?
Your hairs are looking lovely! You get prettier every time I see a picture of you! And you look very huggable in that sweater. xo
You do look sooo happy. really, you do. Those sandals of yours are rockin’! Have the best time and keep us posted.
P.S. Looove the photos, you should take more ;)
kisses
Wow I love your hair in the last picture! Looks really beautiful. Daily outfits ftw. :)
I like how with your new hair dye there is this whole like colour fade thing going on from purple to the blue… you look absolutely adorable in this pics… I had the same response as Olivia about the pic of you sitting in your window
Very reminiscent of Carrie in “The Real Me” episode! ;)
olivia — Aww! I had my feet on the fire escape. I was safe!
Ronise — I’m very flattered by what he wrote ;> I am going to move to the States, yup, but not right now. Later in the year probably. I’m here on a temporary visa, three months & basically once you’re in, you can’t re-apply for another sort. I leave at the end of July but will be back in September!
Immie — Glee, Immie hugs! I would be keen for those!
Daiane — Thank you cutie! I love my shoes too, but they’re not very comfortable…
Emily — I’m so happy to be able to take them again! It’s weird though because I’m working with such a limited amount of clothing!
Staar — Kisses to yooou!
Georgi — Oh my god, you’re so right! Except I’m not drinking a miniature bottle of champagne through a straw… !
...and then it rained a couple of hours ago. SIGH.
Ooh, and there’s this sample shoe sale by City Hall that is really impressive and also ending on the 24th! So many good quality comfortable shoes, and I’m going back there tomorrow, haha.
super cuuuuuute gala!
oh, yes, i don’t know if you saw..
abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/s…
what’s your view on THAT...? interesting but kind of offensive. eep! haha. i almost want to write an angry letter. @ @;;
Those shoes are unreal!
I love that last pic. You look so at home there n_n.
ansi — I know! I was in a shop & I walked out & it was wet all of a sudden. Hmph! Sample shoe sale, squeak! Well-known brands or just random?
hyuju — Aie! I scanned the first page & had to stop reading. Worst article of all time. Personal responsibility, yo!
Nadine — Thank you! You should see ‘em close up. They’re quite a sight!
Juls — Aw, thanks sweetie!
Oh yes, I know! I have this thing where I have to read all of an article or book, though, so I made my way through it cringing. People blame stuff on tv way too much.
All well-known brands (I totally fell in love with these Christian Lacroix sandals, but I had to save my money for flats…)! It’s on 60 Reade St., between Broadway and Church – It’s the Chamber St. station on the A, C, E lines, but it’s walkable from the 2, 3, and 6, too, which is nice.
awwe. you’re adorable!
you’re making me miss NYC tons.
what borough are you in?
in argentina those pants are called “babuchas” (pronounced babootshas).
you look cute =)
The photo in the window makes me grin ever so much — how high up are you?
I was thinking it reminded me of that SatC episode too, but that last pose reminds me of Breakfast at Tiffany’s Moonriver song. I know you haven’t seen it, but it’s pretty cute, and it depicts NYC as the most romatic and wonderful place to live in the world…!
Retro.Bunny – I know what will help convince Gala to watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s! Patrick Wolf once sang a gorgeous cover of Moonriver, and thus, you know Moonriver is a gorgeous song that belongs to a wonderful movie!
Are you planning on doing the 1 year working visa (from NZ)? Just curious because I’m starting to organise my life for a move to the states and I can’t decide which will be the easiest way – that or getting employer sponsorship.
Your hair is looking very vibrant and lovely :)
That last picture is my favorite. Sitting on the edge of a window just looks so cool :D
Gala, I am TOTALLY in love with your outfit!
Ugh I’m totally coveting your shoes right now and you look sooo adorable. I miss New York dreadfully. You’d think I’d be up there all the time, living as close as I do. Just looking at those pictures gives me an odd feeling of homesickness.
wow, you must be having an amazing time, total jealousy! hehe
although melbourne is quite beautiful at the moment… it was so cold this morning on my way to work (at 6.30am eeek!) that there were sparkly ice crystals on the grass :)
x
have fun!
- – I know it’s just the color fading & changing, but I really like your hair with the reddish hint to it. It flatters the rose tones in your skin. Very pretty. :)
you know something GD, i feel your NYC excitement about MELBOURNE! (although i DO feel equal parts for Noo Yorrrk!)
and you’re leaving???!!!!!! just when we find an Antipodean doing marvellous things in the international blogworld :(
nYc does suit the sensibilities of (us) creative types on a mission, n’est-ce pas?! hehe
enjoy your fun and relaxing day of coffee, laundry and writing! *************()***********()************()*************
PS: i, too, am quite partial to the odd “chronic migraine” pose or two ;)
It’s really nice to have you in my own time-zone! Now updates happen when I am actually awake to read them.
You’re in my city! :)
I’ve been debating whether or not to buy that exact sweater! Does the size run small and is that the blue or gray version? Sorry for the mini-interrogation, but I’m a little tight in the clothes budget at the moment and want to make sure I get the one I want. :P You look gorgeous, Gala!
Still lovin’ how you rock those shoes! I’m going to kick myself for not getting a pair in my size — but I was bad enough as is getting the pinks, and greens, and the yellows, and the other pinks. Did I miss any? And the hair stuff, and the hats… and really odd snack choices.
Yep, I definitely reverted to my shopaholic ways — but it was all VERY worth it ;)
I still haven’t found my perfect orange pair, though. Maybe we’ll find them next time you’re down if I can wait that long ; )
oh galaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! are you moving to new york or another city? cute! i am going to las vegas for 6 + weeks in a week and i am really anxious about the flight and being in crazy america!
any tips pls
!!!!
xoxo
ansi — Danger, danger! Did you know Barneys’ sale started yesterday & they have Louboutins reduced from $600 to $200… ?! I avoided going today, I talked myself out of it, but will probably venture up there tomorrow…
Lindsey — I’m in Manhattan, the West Village. I love it!
Pau — I’m totally going to start calling them that now! Yay! Thank you!
Desiree Fawn — Aw, shucks! I’m on the fifth floor :> Good view!
Retro.Bunny & ansi — You both think you are sooooo sneaky! ;D Anyway, they featured Moonriver in SATC, too! “You can’t leave New York! You’re the Chrysler building!” So I’m not missing anything, haha!
amber catch — No, I’m planning on getting a permanent visa, or something like it. We want to buy property & set up here for the long haul!
Emcee Morgan — Come for a visit! Do the SATC movie thing with the rest of us!
Elisabeth — Oh, thank you! Well, get your fill from these pictures, because I’m changing it back to normal tomorrow! Hee. It looks baaaad in the sunlight, purple on top & blue on the bottom, like I’m wearing clip-in extensions or something! Eep!
lulubrownskin — It’s awesome that you feel the glee for Melbourne! Passion for a city is a fabulous thing. & I have always known that I would move to NYC at some stage, just didn’t know it would be this year! (I am not here permanently yet though…)
A.J. Alexander — Yeah, I get the impression a lot of you in the Northern Hemisphere are digging that! I feel bad for my sweet antipodeans, though… I don’t want them to feel neglected!
Lizzie — It’s so comfortable, I love it! I bought the grey version in size small. They’re cut to fit loosely, so mine is pretty big. Slips off my shoulder. But that’s how I wanted it, so I’m happy! Also — if you’re ordering online, AA accept returns for incorrect sizing, so don’t worry about it too much!
Meg — You did so much shopping, it blew my mind! I couldn’t keep up with you! You should come up here, it’s where the best shopping is ;D
kitten` — I’m moving to New York City! (HOORAY!) I can’t wait. Flying isn’t so bad, don’t worry about it! There are movies & tomato juice & blankets & pillows. Sounds like a good time to me, hee!
god, it’s been a million years since I’ve replied to one of your posts!
New York looks so exciting and beautiful… it’s just funny because I’d just moved to Melbourne in the same week as you arrived in NYC. I hope all goes well for you and you also have a safe trip when you get home :)
Squee! Your enthusiasm just bubbles off your webpage and onto my desk, haha. I’m so excited for you!
Do you have access to the rooftop in your apartment building??! That is fantastic!
Oh my stars, down to $200?! That’s INSANE. If I had a favorite pair picked out and knew it would be totally comfortable, etc. I’d be there in a heartbeat! I’ll toast you for daring to make your way amongst the masses, though – clink!
KITTEN — Well, welcome back to the commenting fold, sweet-pea! Where did you move to Melbourne from? Hope it is treating you well!
sora — Haha, awww! & yes, I do have access! It’s just up the next flight of stairs. I went up there like a trooper today with my tripod & remote & camera & jammed the door open with a rogue can of spraypaint. I thought getting locked out while taking a daily outfit photo would make for a good story but not the most fabulous experience!
ansi — I know, it’s scary what a good deal it is…
Your pictures make me wish I was back home to enjoy spring! I’m excited to get back to the states and appreciate how wonderful the shopping there truly is. Also, the west village is by far my favorite part of NYC. I hope you’re enjoying lots of Magnolia cupcakes!
those pants! they look fantastic on… bet they are super comfy too- i wouldn’t even think to pick up something like that…. 3/4 style & all… but looks fab. i like the way you’ve worn the sweater too :)
I’d be afraid to hang out a window in NYC. lol The last time I was there I stayed at a hotel and every building was packed together(ofcourse) and the only thing I could see when I stuck my head out the window was bird poop. Lots and lots of bird poop.
Oh and old newspaper.
i’m happy that you’re happy.
I’m really happy for you.
jess — I haven’t actually been to Magnolia yet (shock, horror!), but have walked past a bunch of times. Think I will make a stop there today!
kate — I love them so much! They are devastatingly comfortable. I am almost tempted to go & pick up another pair, just in case. (I used to have a pair very similar & I ripped them open jumping a fence!)
Saja — My apartment has a view out across a park; there are no buildings in front of mine :> It’s lovely! & very little bird poop to be seen!
worryrock & aziza — Thank you, cuties. Lots of love!
Um, you are so adorable :)
Gala, you’re so pretty!
I envy your quirky gorgeousness!
xx Lucy
Hi Gala, I don’t usually comment but I just had to on this one! What hair dye did you use to get your hair that colour (the dark purple) I was looking into dying mine a similar colour.
New York has given you a beautiful glow, you’re looking fabulous! xx
Sophia — Thank you cutie! My hair is a combination of Special Effects Wildflower, Blue Velvet & Fishbowl. A bit of each :>
