Yes, I am totally dressed up to celebrate. Tonight I am going to watch the elections on television with my friend & drink champagne. & then I am going out dancing!
Black sequinned hoodie from Forever 21. I bought it on Sunday, after eyeing it since September. It wasn’t expensive or anything, I just wasn’t sure I could pull it off. Anyway, I’m glad I finally took the plunge. It makes me feel like Diana Ross crossed with Michael Jackson crossed with Liberace!

And I never thought to give jumpsuits a chance, but you pull it off so well! It’s probably the pink hair though, ha ha! I dyed my hair pink a couple of weeks ago and it makes me feel like I can do whateva I want! It’s like pink hair makes you a superhero, ha ha. Or just plain super!

I read your site a lot and enjoy all the things you post but having seen pictures of your daily clothes, I can’t help but feel like you have a consistency to the things you wear and how you pose.
i) Why always so much black in your daily outfits? Some times, there is a splash of colour but most times, you cling to black. I’m not saying you do not look good, I’m just curious as to why it’s always these dark, dark colours. Sometimes I think that without your hair, it would not flatter you.
ii) Why don’t you smile? You mentioned that you do not like your teeth but I’m surprised that it’s so serious of an issue that you haven’t got the balls to show it once. Look at you! Look at your site! It is all about being confident, strong, and looking at the bright side of life. And yet, there must clearly be some great fear that is preventing you from showing your smile. Does it bother you THAT much? Is not your confidence and sense of self worth so strong (like it seems on the site) that a smile could be worth it?
Man, I don’t mean to come off as a bitch. I’m a blogger, I read blogs and I like yours but your pictures are so … similar; pose, colour, facial expression… I can’t help but wonder why?

Heather — The 300 thing is a reference to the fact that I now have 300 extensions… As opposed to 77!
Jooordan! — Pink hair does make you feel like a superhero! You only have to look at Halcyon Styn, Tarina Tarantino & Jeffree Star to see that ;D
reader_of_yours — The reason I wear a lot of black is threefold. 1) I think that in order to have a wardrobe that ties together well, you need one base colour to work from. For me, that’s black. Where I’m from (Wellington, NZ), black is like a uniform, I’m very comfortable & familiar with it. That’s the city I learned to dress & style myself in, so has influenced me. 2) Most of my colourful pieces are summer-weight. It’s usually harder to buy coloured clothing in winter. 3) Sometimes, I just feel like wearing black. As for my pictures, I smile in a lot of them, you only need to look at my Flickr account to see that. Everyone has a certain way they like to look in photos — for me, a big toothy smile isn’t how I like to present myself!

Your makeup and hair look fabulous in these photos! What type of hair extensions do you have now? I’ve been thinking of getting extensions, especially when I saw your results. My hair length is about the same as yours, maybe a tad shorter, and I’ve been dying for long hair (growing it out is such a long process and the shaggy stage is horrendous!). I’ve been hesitating because of a language barrier (I live in Japan) and fear that it would turn out awful but I might just go for it!
This is my first time commenting, though I’ve long been a reader of your blog. Your work is such an inspiration to me and it’s really encouraging to see someone of the same age (any age!) going out and doing what they want in life and succeeding. I had to laugh at the idea of you having to think if you could pull off a sequin hoodie. From everything I’ve seen, YOU are definitely one of few that needed a sequin hoodie! And you pull it off perfectly. Perfect mix of understatement in the rest of the outfit and one awesomely outrageous piece.
I love the jumpsuit. Forever 21 currently has a long sleeve, deep vneck version that I think I might get after I get home from this work trip.
And the hair looks great. So thick..almost 1970’s. So many of those actresses from the 70’s seemed to have magic, healthy hair. Since the extensions are human hair, is there a difference in the dye tone from the extensions vs your real hair? I don’t know if you could bleach both out to match perfectly.

Katrina — The sizing seems pretty standard to me. Their small is a little too big for me — that white/pink floral strapless dress I have from there falls off me if I don’t tape it on. I guess I am usually a 6/8 in NZ or AU sizes, depending on where I go… Eeesh, I don’t know if that is helpful to you at all! But hopefully! I think if you’re a 10 or 12, you’ll probably be a medium, yup. By the way, with F21 you get what you pay for. It isn’t great quality stuff, but it is fun to wear!
