DELIGHT
Strong, vibrant, smack-in-the-kisser nailpolish. I recently bought some OPI shapes I had been lusting over, & I am ga-ga about them. Clickez-vous! Left to right, they are: Do You Lilac It?, Glamour (Designer Series) & Russian Navy. Do You Lilac It? is going to be fabulous for spring, Glamour makes my knees weak (& matches my new purple headscarf), & Russian Navy is (I imagine) the colour of octopi ink. Beautiful.
On that note: observing nature. I’m not saying you have to go on a hike (no, please, anything but that!), but sometimes just sitting back & watching — whether that’s animals, trees, clouds or people — is really good for you, mentally, emotionally & spiritually. Turn your brain off & just soak up the glory. I have been meaning to go to the Melbourne Aquarium ever since I moved here, & I think this might be the month it happens…
Dressing (almost) in spite of the season. Thematically, anyway! You can wear boots & sparkle & dark lips in summer, just like you can wear pale yellows & lip gloss & your hair in a bun in winter. Don’t let the mood of your city affect how you dress!

I know what you mean about the feeling visible when you want to disappear thing, sometimes i’m not in the mood for strangers comments and stares, and just want to blend in. But this is a little hard when you have bright pink hair! I’m sure you’ve had the same experience at some point!

- pulling lovely cozy fall clothes out of storage (and then playing dress up!) – promising new novels, and the time to read them – fabulous vintage thrift store finds, at fabulous prices – weather cool enough to really cook, but still warm enough for long, bare-armed walks – little dogs romping at the dog park – good mail from great friends
Smite
- hanging obsessively over the refresh button, waiting for email – going from a relaxing summer full-force into huge amounts of work – leaving someone great, after two months together (sigh)
Hehe I second the documenting your life tidbit! Maybe I’m too obsessed with it (www.doc-u-menting.com) but it’s enjoyable and transforming at least! :D

Pinky Mcgee — I sure have. It’s funny actually, even though I have pink hair & dress strangely, I don’t get stared at a lot. I think either I am comfortable enough in myself that I don’t attract it, OR I just don’t notice. Hard to tell ;> But yes, sometimes just being around other people is too much to handle!
Natalie — YAY for big shoes on small people! Haha! Sometimes I feel like Pee Wee Herman in the biker bar. (You know that scene where he dances to ‘Tequila’ in those enormous platform shoes?) & rose-scented ink sounds amazing… wow.
MJ — Your shoes sound fabulous too! I have shoe envy all of a sudden! My friend is bringing me some shoes tomorrow though, to see if they fit me since they are too big for her… fingers crossed!

I’m currently quasi homeless and staying at my brother’s apartment while waiting to move into our new place, so most of my loving and loathing is centered around that.

-Spending time in the neigborhood I grew up in, it’s beautiful and awesome!
-Hanging out with family, they’re some of my favorite people on the planet.
-Seasons behaving properly! The weather here is amazing and has been all year, which is weird.
-Coney Island. Sugar and rides and sand between your toes!
-Bright colours. I’ve only finally been able to shake my goth roots and embrace wearing bright colours, and they’re glorious. Pink! Turquoise! Tangerine!

-Ahem, Cable TV. No TV of my own for years, I suddenly find myself watching 5 hours of America’s Next Top Model.
-Suddenly sharing a bathroom with 4 other people again.
-Missing my boyfriend, he’s staying with his family cause it’s easier to get to work.
-Adjusting to a natural hair colour and growing out hair after having a pink mohawk all year. OMG. The temptation to shave bits off and dye it something neon is nigh unbearable!
-Sunburn acquired at Coney Island. But it was all worth it.

I adore that Russian Navy nailpolish…. Random interesting fact: Octopus ink is actually red/brown; the color of sepia. Sepia ink was actually the ink from the close octopus relative, cuttlefish. You can see them at the Melbourne Aquarium when you go. So cute.

- All of my favourite snacks having dairy in them! Since switching to a vegan diet, walking in to a convenience store is HELL. Chocolate! Biscuits! Everywhere! And I can’t eat any of it. This may, eventually, lead to my going insane.
- On a related note, I hate not having an oven in my apartment, because I am unable become the Vegan Muffin Queen without one! :-p
