Happy Hallowe'en!
[ 31 October 2007 ]

Who are these mysterious Hallowe’en cuties?

Why, Ashley Olsen & Marc Jacobs, of course! (Awwwww!)
I am loath to admit that I do not have a Hallowe’en costume of my own yet. Nor do I have anywhere to wear it. Bummer! Tell me about your amazing costumes & extravagant parties-to-be & let me live vicariously through you!
Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala ![]()

I will be dressing as Tracy Turnblad from Hairspray to show off my new short hair!
I’m sure you will be able to whip up something, Gala — you have a lovely wardrobe!
We should start to celebrate Halloween here in Aus – just so we can dress up =)
I am Cruella De Vil this year complete with crazy wig, cigarette holder, red lipstick, little black dress, and fur coat I found for a good price at a Savation Army. :) Have a great Halloween Gala!
They look amazing! I dressed up as a doll for a Halloween party earlier this week. Everyone said it was creepily realistic or perhaps I was creepily fake? Either way, it was creepy.
Well, with the help of this hairband: http://www.heidiseeker.com/shop/shop.php/hair-candy/owl-band/p_63.html I shall be the Hedwig to my friend’s Harry Potter!
waaah :( we wanted to dress as luigi and daisy from super mario, but it seems that we have nowhere to go, nor the time to look for a yellow-princess dress….
it’s so sad :( we’ll maybe buy some cheap crowns and go to a random party, though :P
I get to be batman. none of this bat-girl hooey. i’m going with the grey/black adam west (i get to spew lines from family guy too!) batman, with underwear on the outside and a kick ass utility belt and cape.
cape does not enable user to fly :(
I went to my cousins school Halloween fate last saturday as a witch. nothing too special. i would have gone as something better but they told me to come the night before. so thanks to my old goth clothes from back in year 10 (that still fit me mind you) i dressed all in black and brought a $5 witches hat! i wore a black skirt and a black top with lace at the back. I had so much fun!
my friend’s girlfriend was planning on having a halloween party tonight, but it got cancelled… i was going to go as a stegosaurus!
instead, she’s going to have a halloween-themed birthday party later in the year. massively looking forward.
I’m going as a classic, Coco Chanel!
It will be mahvahlous, dahling…
I held an awesome ‘Freaky Fiesta’ in celebration of Halloween. Link to the photos on my name!
Ashley Olsen as an undead cheerleader….my life is complete.
I’m going as either edie sedgwick or salvador dali. The first one’s such a cop out because I dress like her every day anyhow. The second one, I am running late on and hope I can find a moustache.
I want to go to a party. I was invited to one at a frat with a roommate of my friend, and she insists we go around dressed like the gent from Risky Business—tighty whities, white oxford, ray-bans. I’d probably get hit on by slimy sorority girls. Ew. I look like a very delicate boy, and I have no boobs.
I think my boy and I will just go trick or treat with his posse in a decent state of intoxication.
Im rocking a vague pin up girl / random 1940s meets librian get up today . A killer tulip hem wiggle dress , white shirt underneath , hair in pin curls all topped with a fun hat , red lipstick and a smokey eye with lush lashes . Oh paired with fishnets and heels of course .
The real costume ( a hilarious lamb outfit with cloven toe irregular choice boots to match ) will be worn to the mega party im attending on saturday .. so so so excited .
I was a hippe today for the party (we only have class mon. and tues.) at my cosmetology school. And I’m going to wear it again tomorrow morning to work. But tomorrow night…oh, I’m going as Aphrodite!!
I fear I’m going to freeze to death in my costume though…
I am going to a shapechanging ritual, as a crow. I made my own costume out of yards and yards of black felt. I hope to have a picture or two to send you soon :)
aw! I don’t have a costume or any place to wear one either!! but I am going to cobble something together tomorrow and just wear it because it makes me happy, darnit! ;) lol. maybe I’ll trot down to the local coffee place and scare the normal people. lol.
I didn’t really put together a costume together, so I decided I’m just going to dress up with: my fabulous white double breasted vintage coat, which I haven’t gotten the opportunity to wear in ages, my favorite black dress, black stockings, and red round toe pumps. I felt like changing my hair, too, and Halloween was the perfect opportunity so I got some temporary black hair dye that fades away in 8-10 washes. Maybe if I like it I will dye it permanently! Pair it with a sexy cat eye and some red lipstick, et voila!
I’m so excited because I never get to dress up for school, and now I feel like I have the perfect opportunity :)
My amazing friend made me a Scarlett O’Hara costume. Remember the big green and white dress from the barbeque scene? I’m so excited!
I’m sure you’ll come up with something fabulous, Gala!
At the last moment, I decided to retreat back to my safe-spot and dress as Lestat de Lioncourt.
Actually, since I only spent 15$, it looks pretty cool. I’m happy how it turned out, and am really excited to see people’s reactions tomorrow. (Since I’m 16, no one will know who I am. I’ll just look like an artistocratic photosensitive weirdo to them!)
I went to the Rocky Horror Picture Show Friday, with three of my besties! It was amazing, and all retro (tee hee!). The theater had a sign outside that was highlighted by hundreds of lightbulbs, and said ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW MASQUERADE BALL
It was exciting!
I was a corpse bride – not exactly hugely original but whatev! i had fun! i wore a bunch of white silky dresses & petticoats, a red underbust corset, a vintage veil & zombie makeup (which i was hugely proud of!). such good fun
If you’ve ever heard of the song, “Punk Rock Princess” by Something Corporate, I’m going to be just that— AND my boyfriend will be my garage band king. :]
The only other spectacular costume I’ve ever had was Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. I did that in the fifth grade. :D
Next year you should host a meet-up extravaganza for Halloween at a swanky lounge and kick some Halloween action into this town.
In the meantime I will be Beatrix Kiddo/The Bride/Black Mamba and wear Uma’s yellow motocycle suit from the Kill Bill scene when she fights the Crazy 88s. It’s part of my personal Halloween theme having previously been Uma as Poison Ivy (Batman & Robin), Uma as Cécile de Volanges (Dangerous Liaisons) and Uma as Mia (Pulp Fiction). Did somebody say fangirl?
Hah, I love Halloween. My girls and I go all out. We’re going to Salem, Mass (local historic witch town) for the second time, it’s insane, a party in the streets of thousands dressed up and intoxicated haha. I’m going as a twisted version of Little Red Riding Hood and my friend is being Snow White. I can’t wait for the pictures that will result :D
Alas I shall be indoors playing survival horror video games after work, prepping for NaNoWriMo and living vicariously through everyone else. You’d think I’d be out seeing as I live in Williamsburg, VA which is known for its fantastic haunted houses in Colonial Williamsburg (doesn’t beat my beloved Richmond, VA though in that department), but no, I’m staying in. Everyone else have fun though!
im going as snow white :D
aaaagh!i just read the commet 2 abov mine and her friend is snow white too!

That is the link to my halloween party photos.
I went as Marcel Marceau.
Nico went as Rosie the Riveter.
love love.
Since I’m very dressed up daily, I decided to go with something completely different from my norm. So I am dressing as cracked out Amy Winehouse. Complete with needles, track marks, a big ass ugly wig, and a powdered bleeding nose from cocaine. I wanted to do something gross this year, so I went for it. I know, I know, its in poor taste. But I’ve seen worse! And people actually knew who I was this year!
I have my party tonight, and went bar hopping in my costume this past weekend. And people actually knew who I was this year! Its a first!
I’m going to be a cancan dancer/ saloon girl. Whatever people guess I am of the two is OK.
I’m wearing it all day at school. Not many people do, but I DON“T CARE!! I love my costume! :)
I too, took a leaf from Gala’s book and went as Salvador Dali to work today. I even had a fake moustache, walking cane and melting clock brooch that I made! Not bad for one day’s notice I thought!
It was so funny walking around Wellington with a crazy curling up moustache on all day… an old man in the street told me I looked ‘very sophisticated’! Hehehe… sadly only one person at my work knew who I was though. It only served to confirm my previous suspicion that I work with philistines… good fun all the same!
i did indeed go as rosie the riveter!
i have the huuuugest crush on a 1940’s WWII propaganda poster. how lame.
I am being Pippi – from the south seas! YAR!!
I am surprised you do not have a costume!
Our party was cancelled…boo! =(
I was going to go as a French burlesque dancer in my new lingerie, that I LOVE.
Either that, or I was going as a Bond girl in the Pinup Girl wiggle dress, black Nine West peeptoes, and one of my fur coats. Love it!
I just had the most gorgeous group of girls come trick or treating – 3 witches, a ghost and a clown. I gave them cans of coke (I was wiped out of lollies an hour ago) and told them not to tell their mums! I wish I could have got a photo, but my camera was on charge.
Notwe to self: on cool dress up holidays ALWAYS have charged batteries in your camera.
My friends and I got all dolled, er, gored up for a zombie prom on Saturday night but never made it out there, the trains where just too wonky, so instead we roamed Manhattan making people actually scream! Ooh, we looked so rad. My best friend uploaded a bunch of shots of us here: http://flickr.com/photos/59295967@N00/
My boyfriend and I are going to be prom Zombies again tonight. Even though I wish Halloween was on the weekend, I love having two excuses to dress up.
For instant costumes, I’m still stuck on Anything + Dead/Zombified, but that’s probably because I have so much fun doing the makeup. Next year I want to learn to make foam latex appliances, mmm.
I’m not big into the halloween thing ( never celebrated it as a kid) so I dont go all out for it or anything, but I DO LOVE COSTUMES. so I’m going to dress up as Ichabod Crane to hand out candy.I cant wait to wear my neck ruffle thing that I made. :D
i have to costume for one party.
i will have to dressup twice in the same evening.
i will be a zebra and miss Scarlet from Clue.
by “to” i want to say “two” :P
I’m a costumer, and I just closed a show, so I’m a little burnt out on costumes right now, but I can’t pass up Halloween! I ended up putting on a black wrap dress, red patent belt, black tights, red patent peep-toed shoes, did a great cat-eye and some red lipstick and popped on a pair of devil’s horns. So I’m a sort of retro devil.
And I’m the ONLY person in my office who dressed up. Sad!
I made a Marie Antoinette costume ( I started back in JULY!) and have nowhere to wear it, so I demanded to be scheduled to work tonight. Lame, right? haha
I’ll probably be the only one who dresses up
I ended up dressed as a witch (like I end up every year) in stripey black and white stockings, a black lace skirt and a black shirt, black patent mary janes with a huge spike heel, blood red lipstick and lots of dark eyeliner and a witches hat which I bought from Coles for like $4. It had black and silver hair attached – it felt really good to have long hair for a while! I had a wand and a broomstick and a dark grey cat too.
My son dressed up in his batman suit from Singapore which is totally rad. I roped my boyfriend into taking some pics of us

oh, i have tonnes of work to do today, so i’m dressed simply in my BRC postal worker shirt (disgruntled as always) and a hat that has little sproingers attached. I’m the postal thing from beneath the dead letters!
wee! i’ll be dressing up as a gypsy witch & seeing madam pamita preform & tell fortunes tomorrow night & eating pizza. yay!
I’m Louise Brooks (1920s silent film actress who popularized the bob hairstyle). Here’s a page about her: http://www.pandorasbox.com/.
I’m a lucky lady, my officemates always dress up. We’re going trick-or-treating with my daughter and visiting our friends’ annual birthday/Halloween party tonight. Halloween rocks!
oh golly. i love halloween!!!!!
i’m going to be frenchie from grease & go trick or treating at the mall with my friend sydney [she’s dressing as a black-eyed pea]!!! after that i will be going out to dinner with my favorite cousin & aunt and then we are seeing the Nightmare Before Christmas in 3d!!! i’m super duper pumped. my best friend is dressing up as amy whinehouse also.. its gonna be fantastic! :] wee!
I’m dressed up (‘cause I went to school in the costume) as Clark Kent. I’m wearing my dad’s by breast-pocket, button up red shirt and my mom’s blue jacket, and my dad’s huge Timberlands. And so I don’t look completely man-ish, some skinny jeans. Everyone thought I was a lumber jack, but dressing like Superman really made me feel good. :D And I wore my hair down, like I always do, and jack-o-lantern ear rings, which some might consider breaking character.
Unfortunately my plans for tonight fell through but I went out yesterday and was a purple-winged fallen angel who had been dragged through a hedge backwards and had acquired a tiara. Pictures will be on my blog soon I hope!
Costume highlights from that party included: – a tomato – Darth Vader and Lady Vader (she wore a black and grey striped ballgown with the helmet) – Britney – a box
I went in pink and yellow stockings, under yellow footless tights rolled to the knees. A pink patterned 3/4 length top with orange and black spotty top on top. A red bolero and a navy blue ex-Australian Ballet tutu from a friend. Heaps of anklets and rings, and a cute little yellow kangaroo umbrella.
I did my hair in tight braids all over my head, then rolled each one into buns and sprayed the whole thing silver.
Looked fab if i do say so myself!
I went as a flower child, and wore my gorgeous vintage gunne sax dress and gave daises to everyone. I was pretty happy with it, considering I came up with the idea last minute. (my original plan was to be a vulcan)
But nevermind that, look at this cutie who’s dressed up as tank girl!

Witch, with my mother’s black high heels with witchy buckles, ankle-length black velvet strappy dress I got in a charity shop for twelve euro, black lace top underneath, and, of course, hat.
lord how I love halloween i don’t even like the going out party just the fact that its social acceptable to go out in cosatume and generally getting dolled up.
here’s me in my costume this year… I was a mime.
