New haircut! (If you’re wondering why iCiNG was quiet today, it’s because I was in the hair salon from 2.30 until 7!)
I love the cut so much, I think it is gorgeous & couldn’t be happier. The colour, however, is another story. It looks GREAT in those shots, but that’s because you can’t really see the top. There are bands of orange/brown where my colourist said they didn’t want to apply more bleach because they feared my hair would break. (I always need a double application & they didn’t want to go for a third.)
Tomorrow it will be purple. Or pink. I have a bottle of each. What do you think? (Poem unintentional.)

I don’t mean to be a party pooper or obnoxious, I’m merely curious so I have to ask – do you ever worrying about what frequent colouring does to your hair? You might be someone well aware of its effects and treat your hair accordingly, or you may just have very resilient hair, but I’ve heard that it can be very damaging. I’m just wondering if you know, or mind.
And I think purple, but only if it’s a lilac, because I think that looks pretty with blonde. X
Just to add a lil positivity on that – a good deep conditioning treatment for coloured hair is honey and olive oil combed through and left under a hot towel for a half hour. Tis very natural and effective. X

Lex — It doesn’t worry me too much. I’m very good to my hair & do pretty frequent protein treatments etc. I’ve had a bit of it break once before & I survived! Thanks for the tip though, that sounds like a great treatment.

I wish bright colours would stay in my hair. I’ve got dark brown hair—I’ve bleached and dyed it a few times (hot pink once, and it was amazing), but it only lasted about 2 days. When I would reapply the hair dye, it wouldn’t take. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s the dye I was using—Manic Panic.
jen — Manic Panic is a waste of your hard-earned coin! It doesn’t have any staying power. You need to try Special Effects. I buy mine on Ebay since I don’t think it is sold outside the USA.
Solution: Put both bottles on the floor, spin around many a time with your pointing finger outstretched, stop, and voila!
Note: This may have to occour a few times before you point at a bottle, and not the bare floor.

i think both colors would be pretty if you maybe had more of it purple and then some pink on the longest/under layer of hair. but if you don’t want to do both then I would go with purple. By the way, what is your natural hair color?
Moni — Same colour as my eyebrows, very dark brown. I haven’t had it that colour for years! I had it black forever, then white for years. & thanks for the suggestion!

i’d say pink — just from a practical standpoint, there’s less of a chance it’ll get funky when covering the weird colour on the top of your head. plus, if you do atomic pink it needs waaaaaaaaaay less touch-ups.

Just a note about Manic Panic – it really depends on the hair! I dyed my hair pink around October one year (being told it would be well gone by December when I was going home to see my conservative parents + one Granny) – but alas! The last pink finally disappeared somewhere around April. Eep. I still don’t hear the end of it from the parents. But truth be told, I loved it & can’t wait to find an understanding job.
I’d have to say pink. You seem to have such a spunky personality, and the pink fits that so well.
Plus I’m biased. My hair is black with pinkish-purplish highlights, and my daughter’s hair is pink. It’s just so fun!

It’s a hard choice, but I’d have to say purple. Both looked great on you, but something about that purple looked really unique and fantastic! Also, I have a question about unnatural hair-dye colouring. I have reeeeally thick hair, and I was told that if I bleached it before dyeing, my hair would break like crazy. Do you know anything about thick hair and the effects of bleaching? Thanks a bunch, and good luck!

haha. when i had trouble making the decision between flaming red and jet black previously, i dyed my hair both. half of each. if you look at the video on this page in my blog, you can see how it is done. it was the cool thing in japan and many people still do it today.

Too bad you don’t like that color in real life because I think it looks fantastic and you look so cute as a white-blonde! The bangs look great straight like that, too.
I like the outfit in your most recent post, but I don’t like the posed cigarette. It either has to be lit or nothing, because it’s unnatural looking in those pictures. Besides, as you pointed out, cigarettes are gross! You look so much better without them (even though your lungs don’t mind the posed shots).
That’s the problem with vintage photographs and old film stars. They looked so rad back then that it’s easy to forget that they had no idea about the effect of smoking in those days. Somehow, the allure of cigarettes looking rad still continues. Why?
julie — It looked great except for the top where they didn’t want to dye the hair a third time… ugh. I had white hair for years & LOVED it. So I was sad to have to jump to pink so quickly. But it’s not so bad.
I like the cigarette thing, but then it’s all personal choice ;> I’m also an occasional smoker — as in, I will maybe smoke one cigarette a month, in social situations. I used to smoke a lot more but I think it was mainly because I used to be bored all the time! It’s quite interesting to read the biographies of all those high society dames who were only ever photographed with a cigarette in hand (Diana Vreeland, Babe Paley, Nan Kemper), but then you read about them dying of lung cancer, emphysema etc.. It’s really not the most glamorous way to go.
ok I dyed my bleach blonde hair cotton candy colored by manic panic and it came out so bad! its like multicolored and some spots DIDN’T even take! how do I get the remainder of the dye out without bleaching it cause my hair will die! Help!!!
Could you not try washing it loads? Manic Panic is semi-permenant right?
Or maybe put another dye over it?
How on earth did it turn multi coloured…
