I ♥ NY: Secret Rooftop Pools… And A Splash Of Warhol!

I ♥ NY: Secret Rooftop Pools... And A Splash Of Warhol!

For my third and final post on secret spots for ShopSense, I wanted to give you a sneak peek at the pool at Thompson LES. I’m a Thompson Hotels member, which gives me access to all their pools and rooftop bars through the USA (and London). This kind of thing is much more handy than you might think in a city where no one has any outdoor space… I don’t even have a fire escape on which to loiter!

Without fail, when it’s sweltering hot in the city, locals head for the closest puddle of water. Some people hike out to the Hamptons, but I prefer to stay close to home and dangle my feet in the turquoise pool of the Thompson LES.

…And since it’s going to be 99 degrees on Thursday (that’s 37 to the rest of us), this is the perfect place to hide out. (Plus, there’s a mosaic of Andy Warhol on the bottom of the pool. Truly fabulous.)

So this morning, I threw on my favourite sunglasses (mine are by Celine and I am never without ’em), grabbed my laptop and headed to the pool for cocktails, “work” and a bit of a splash. Admittedly, for me, “working” beside the pool usually results in a quick glance at my phone every now and again…

I’m so picky when it comes to swimwear. Why should a bikini be practical or restrained? It just shouldn’t.

I’m in love with this bikini by Zinke. They do this fabric in a lot of different styles, but I decided to mix and match their strapless bustier with high-waisted briefs. I don’t usually do high-waisted, but I’m loving the switcheroo! And, as luck would have it, they pair up perfectly with my new favourite shoes, the Laetitia t-strap sandals by B Brian Atwood.

My lipstick is Illamasqua’s Corrupt… And you already know by now that I am completely obsessed with it.

Damn, it’s hot in the city, hot in the city tonight. If you’re in NY, I hope you have somewhere cool to relax!

Making plans to go back to the pool already…

Thanks to ShopSense for making these posts possible! …And to Mike for the lovely pictures.
