iCiNG Transformation Challenge: 19/28
[ 18 February 2009 ]
Start the day as you mean to go on. If today didn’t begin that well, make tomorrow better. Take an extra moment to eat a breakfast that sets you up for how you want to eat for the rest of the day. (For example, it’s easier to eat a raw lunch or dinner if you start with a smoothie or fruit — the more we eat of something, the more we want it.) Listen to a selection of your favourite songs instead of filling your head with chatty morning radio or television. Take your vitamins, smile at the bus-driver, be charming. It’s not that tricky, & it will help to start your day positively. Even if the rest of the day is filled with challenges, at least you ate a good breakfast & embarked on the day with a sparkly outlook!
Love letters & feather headdresses,

“Listen to a selection of your favourite songs instead of filling your head with chatty morning radio or television.”
Ah but my aim is to be a radio presenter! Endless talking mixed with music? Uhhm YES PLEASE! So that’s counteractive to me haha.
However lately I’ve been trying to start my mornings well with happiness and sweetness and things which make me smile (including reading an email from my friend telling me that my crush fancies me too..SCORE!)
My iTC is going really well today. I had a protein shake with fresh fruit for breakfast, I did an hour of cardio, and I had a healthy vegetarian lunch (my mom made homemade buns, I’m not sure if they’re vegan or not but I had two of them) and lots of green tea.
I watched a peta documentary, though. Basically it was me sitting on my couch, bawling. I know my cruelty-free lifestyle is the right choice, and I stand behind it fully… but it made me feel really, really alone in the world. I know I’m not the only one who supports these ideals, but it still shocks and saddens me that so many people are ignorant or just plain don’t give a fuck about the death and suffering of innocent creatures for human conveniences.
I think I’m going to go to the health food market tonight, just to wander the aisles and be around people who think like I do. Maybe that will make me feel better.
Also, hugging my kitten.
xo
Starting my mornings off well at the moment is basically waking up, turning on some music, reading my emails and then contemplating what I’ll do for the rest of the day over breakfast. :)
xx
I wrote a post about eating a beautiful breakfast earlier today – my strategy is to start the day with four or five fruits and vegetables.
What to eat for breakfast:

I am also a great believer in doing something worthwhile before breakfast – you would be amazed at what you can accomplish!

If I don’t have a good breakfast, I’m kind of stuffed for the rest of the day. As soon as pancake or toast enters my mouth in the early hours – I know I can say goodbye to nutrition for the day and hello to empty calories. I’ve also found that if I eat my breakfast in my PJs, I end up having a very lazy, non productive and boring day. So, I exercise, shower, dress, make some miso soup and a fresh veggie juice and read Vogue then I’m nutritionally, physically, spiritually, mentally and fashionably balanced.
I’ve ben tryng to do exactly this recently!
A healthy breakfast, a happy start and setting myself up for a good day. It’s silly but it really does affect the whole day!
Sound advice!
I started today with a cupcake – are you proud?
:>
P.S It had glitter on so that counts as a sparkly outlook too!
I’m so glad this is back! I was a little worried it was gone!
I had a brief period where I fell back into a couple of old habits, but everything is back and well again. I went to the store this morning and bought 12 different types of produce, and its suprising how cheap produce is! That encourages me to eat healthier and save money!
Tomorrow is a big day for me. After 2 days of prepping (including cleaning, sweeping, building the set, styling), I will be assisting on a photo shoot!! I’m excited, but nervous at the same time. I know I have good ideas; I just need to get over it & SPEAK UP!!
Other than that, I have been keeping up with exercise & cutting out red meat & poultry. Been slacking off with writing, though. I will try harder to make the last iTC days extra-sparkly!!
Awww Gala I love your inspiration posts! They brighten my day.
I am such a creature of habit, I missed these on the days when they did not appear!
I can’t tell if this ITC has a smaller following than last years, or if only some of us are commenting. If there are more of you out there doing the challenge, speak up, we haven’t heard from you in awhile and would love to hear how its going!
My ITC has worked so magically, I feel like the transformation is practically complete already. I don’t even have to try anymore to avoid soda and refined sugar (exceptions made for my boyfriend’s v-day gift of Godiva chocolates!), I’m thinking thrice before eating anything too fatty. I actually miss exercise this week (head colds do not like cardio). I have lost at least 4 inches off my waist, 2 off my hips, 9 lbs total, my skin is clearer… all magical. I hope I can go the last 10 days as well as the last 18! then again, I think these changes may be permanent! Big smiles, and I hope everyone else is doing great.
Oh Gala, I really need these little inspiration pep-talk thingies! Thank-you!
Music in your morning is the key to the rest of your day. It really sets the mood, the attitude & all that. I love what a difference it makes.
So my iTC was to be in control of my homework & stress levels, while not slacking off in other areas of life. The main focus has been going pretty well, & I’m not eating too bad either – but recently I just keep thinking of all the random, time-consuming things I’d love to do again. I know now I’m in the serious end of school, it’s expected to be less time for that kind of thing, but it’s a want & it needs satisfying!
I probably could find time, but I’d have to cut into my sleeping time, which I REALLY want to avoid. Sleep is priceless. Maybe I’m not being organised enough? Y’know, taking longer on tasks than I should/could be?
I shall try & set aside some time… but we’ll see. Everyone’s comments are fantastic – I’d love to read more! You guys rock!
Reading this iver breakfast did actually remind me to take my vitamins! Thanks!
I am still having fun with my iTC! Doing probably 80% raw and loving it! Getting thru detox headaches sux a bit (could also be something to do with chocolate and coke – yep I fell off my plan a little!)
I went to see Don Tolman speak last night he says some cool stuff about whole foods (fruit & veg etc) and talks about foods signatures eg: tomatoes have 4 chambers and so does our heart – guess what tomatoes are good for the heart! There are many more & it’s worth checking out b/c I love the idea of eating food and know Exactly which bit of my body it is making really happy!! mmm I love food! (ps this is not a sales pitch for the guy I don’t know enough about what he does but I find some of it very interesting!)
I vote for being extra nice to bus drivers.
Preferred methods of greeting: Hola, Howdy, Good Morning, Greetings and Salutations!
.... i have been following this but got derailed halfway through. it is a great idea though Gala – don’t give up – I’m going to try again next month but maybe just try to do one thing at a time.
