i was going to suggest favourite culture past or present, but i really like the birth month idea too!
I like alter-egos. I can’t do zodiac because i am a virgo/leo cusp. D= Or perhaps a “Dress as the Opposite Gender” type thing ? I’d like that.
The zodiac idea is cool but it also means some people are stuck with dressing like bulls, crabs or fish. :\
i like the zodiac idea; i don’t think you’d have to be toooo literal with it if you didn’t want to :] maybe you could pick one or two traits of your starsign & express that through your outfit? i’m a leo, so i’d do lots of gold & hugely teased hair & channel the kittenish parts of my personality :]

Well, you wouldn’t have to dress up specifically as your zodiac sign animal, exactly. For instance, I’m a Virgo, and while I could try to look “virginal”, I could alternatively look organized or ambitious (Virgo traits) or use a September theme in a picture. Thats more what I meant by my suggestion.
Whatever the theme is, though, I’m definitely participating this time around!

I’m vibing a 1940s theme… Also, I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of a “dandy.” Part Oscar Wilde, part gangster and all style….
What about 7 deadly Sins theme? that way its basically anybodys interpretation of a deadly sin…and theres 7 of them to choose from?
This will be my first i.d.u.d., and I’m rather excited about it. My daughter (5) dressed up for April’s – I just wore a tiara for our PB&J lunch.
The zodiac theme would be easy for me, since I’m a gemini, and could just dress as my own twin. But I love the 1940-50’s theme. Another great excuse to wear my vintage aprons.
I like the 1940’s theme…but then I am rather partial to film noir. Sometime this year we should do an i.d.u.d. for femme fatales. :)

haha i know it’s so crazy and random, but i’m so tired right now (i just got back from NIN yay!!) and i could really go a vodka sunrise right now :)

What is a dandy? I tried to look it up…
Oscar Wilde, as mentioned above, is the perfect example of a dandy. Another is Beau Brummel. It used to be a mild insult a bit like ‘pretty boy’ to mean ‘one who takes care of his appearance’.
There is a specific style associated with it, but I’m not going to be able to describe it. Google ahoy…

wow!! my first idud! pretty excited!! although i’m here in boring singapore, but i brought along all my cook tokyo outfits and stuff i had designed myself. so i should be ready. heh heh.
themes are really hard to suggest eh? i’m not too hard-up on the zodiac though. no WAY i’m gonna be able to come up with something to do with the aries err, bull, cow, whatever. :)
but wow it’s only in a few days!! i’m gonna get thinkin’ and hopefully come up with a suggestion.
