  2. Aaaah! Jem! My childhood in a YouTube video! Although I guess I kind of liked He-Man a bit more… Hmm… No I don’t think so actually. Yeah! Jem!

  3. Wow i love Jem…..when i was a kid i had the Jem doll and the Pizazz.
I secretly loved the Pizazz doll more cos she had purple hair and cool make up and generally more of a rock chick look but Jem had cool flashing ear rings and pretty cool hair also.
I love the ‘Broadway magic’ episode and song, still remember all the words!!!!

    AWWW JEM....I MISS YOU.

Gala you’re a bit like Stormer cos she had the midnight blue colour hair right?!

  4. Haha, I saw a picture of Jem once, thought it was good and then pretty much forgot about it. Then I was on LJ and I wasn’t looking for anything in particular but I kept running into Jem icons. Now I see this!

I suppose I’ll have to watch it now, as it’s been following me around so much. d:

  5. I was born in 1989 so I didn´t get to enjoy watching Jem when I was a kid but now that I´ve seen this I gotta watch more to see what happens!

Thanks a lot Gala, now you got me hooked! :)

  7. To this day, I still regret that my father popped the head off my Rio doll…

A few years back, when I still lived in New Orleans, a large group of my friends dressed up as Jem & the Holograms & the Misfits for Halloween. The costumes were SPECTACULAR and we had an amazing time. (I got to be Kimber)

  8. this is awesome – i’ve never heard of Jem before. Maybe it wasn’t shown in England.
Hey, have you ever heard of a film called “Barbie & the Rockstars”? It’s an amazing cartoon film where Barbie and her band play a concert in space. Cosmic.
I watched it so much when I was a kid.

  9. I bought the first season on DVD. :x
Heh, its a definite pick me up on those ‘bla’ kind of days. When I was in college, it was impossible to keep those DVDs to myself since everyone was so excited to borrow them all the time!

I wish someone would put out a CD of Jem songs. Those songs rocked. Ooh, and also a CD of re-mastered Jem songs by current artists haha! The Misfits had better songs, but admittedly, I really did love Jem best. I begged my mom for pink hair for the entirety of my childhood as a result.

  10. truly, truly, truly outrageous!

  11. @ Ashe Mischeif – sounds like Mattel ripped off Josie and the Pussycats in space series.

    And I love Jem too!

  12. I’ve never seen it before! I liked it a lot n_n.

  13. Wow! Totally forgot about that! A friend of mine had all the dolls and I think there were comic books as well?

    The star earrings really rock!

Amazing how globalised these things actually are. I live in the Netherlands and read about it again on your site while you grew up in New Zealand (?)!

  15. wow just watched that ep – i enjoyed it muchly! i’ve never seen Jem before, i don’t remember it being shown in the UK, but i was born in 1988 so maybe it was but just before my time. But like Sapphire said, it reminded me of the Barbie film, which i too had and loved :p. I just tried to do my make up like Pizzazz haha! x

  22. Oh my goodness, my obsession with Jem and the Holograms as a child was ridiculous. My mother would tape every episode for me and I had all the dolls (that each came with a tape!) with all the accessories. Jem was the reason I always wanted gorgeous pink hair. I hope to get a tattoo of her in the near future!

    <3 Arelys · Apr 6, 06:55 PM · #
  23. I was jem a few halloween’s ago & still have my jem dolls although I seem to have lost all the tapes over the years

    <3 kim · Apr 6, 07:30 PM · #
  24. Jem was always my fav… years later she inspired me to dye my hair all pink (which it remained for 3 years.. that’s lots of pink pillow cases.. haha).. I still have all my Jem dolls I could never bear to part with them. I also picked up a Jem tee shirt while I was in the States a couple of years back :) B xx

    <3 Bianca · Apr 6, 08:13 PM · #
  25. I loved Jem when I was little! Wow, that brings back some memories. I had a Jem Doll and went to the Melbourne Show and got a Jem showbag! It had stick on Jem earrings, a pink wig, a colouring-in book, Jem Shoelaces and some other Jem stuff. That would have been 22 years ago at least!

    <3 Sarah Prout · Apr 6, 09:41 PM · #
  26. I didn’t know Jem at all as a kid, but I did have Barbie and the Rockers haha

  36. I have 4 dvds of Jem, and a t shirt…Yet more evidence of your awesomeness, Gala.
Kate Jackson from the Long Blondes has the same Jem t shirt as me…you’d be interested in her fashion taste Gala, here’s a link to an article with video, fabulously titled “Kate Jackson: So Hot We’ll Follow Her Clothes Shopping”. www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily…

And, I still want one of those Jem dolls with light up earrings…my best friend had one when we were five and I still haven’t recovered from the jealously
