Radical Self Love Giveaway! Murano Glass Heart Pendant!

[ 2 March 2010 ]

Murano Heart Pendant

You’ve come a long way, baby! Radical Self Love has kicked our asses five ways from Sunday… & I hope you’ve enjoyed it!

If you never managed to find a Radical Self Love totem, or you lost yours, or sheesh, if you just like hearts, this giveaway is for you!

Up for grabs is a beautiful Murano glass heart-shaped pendant, like the one pictured! Exquisite, delicate, flecked with gold & totally one of a kind — what could be a more perfect totem for Radical Self Love?

Murano glass art started in Rome in the 9th Century. It’s created when chemical silica is heated to extremely high temperatures & then crafted by the artisan using a glass-blowing technique. When the glass begins to cool, colouring agents are added.

Every single piece of Murano glass is handmade, making each item completely unique.

How can you enter? Just tell us what you love most about yourself! It could be your unusual laugh or your devotion to making strangers smile, your freckles or your smooching prowess — whatever it is, sing it loud & proud in a comment below!

Thank you so very, very much to Marina from Murano Glass Gifts for sponsoring this Radical Self Love giveaway!

This contest is open to everyone & will be drawn next Tuesday! Be sure to enter your real email address so I can contact you if you win. (I promise never to spam you!)

Good luck!

Love & love & love,

  33. My favorite thing about myself is my intelligence. I’m not a boastful person but if my intelligence is put to question, I will defend it as long as I can. :)

But the next favorite is my legs ;P

  34. My favorite thing about myself is my loyalty. It has always been my favorite quality, i’m fiercely loyal to my friends, family and significant others, which I personally feel is a huge factor in having a relationship.

  36. My favourite thing about myself is that I usually make people feel better. They cheer up with the colors of my clothes, with the silly things I say, with a smile or a polite and nice word, with a cute and funny face… And I love doing that.
Of course, I’m not a happy fairy 24/7 but life is much better when I am like that, so I do it every time I can :)

Thank you… Your radical self love posts are very inspiring ♥

  37. My favorite thing about myself is my determination and focus on my goals. Also, I love my hair after a professional blow dry!

  38. I love that where ever I go, I find friends that I didn’t know I knew.

I am so beyond lucky that I am often told “I don’t know why, but it’s like I’ve known you forever!” And I adore that – I wish I knew how to capture it and give it out, with a wee bottle of lovetonic, ‘cos it’s so joyous!

    <3 mizWright · Mar 2, 10:34 AM · #
  39. My favourite thing about myself is my creativity. I love that I see the world in a different way through being creative, that I can challenge conventions and find inspiration everywhere and most of all I love that I can write.

    <3 Kat · Mar 2, 10:34 AM · #
  40. I love my weird little way of looking at the world. The beginning of Blake’s poem “Auguries of Innocence” really resonates for me:
“To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
    And eternity in an hour.”

I see art and beauty in everything. It makes life so wonderful.

    <3 Alzy · Mar 2, 10:35 AM · #
  41. I already have one really similar so I don’t want to be entered I’d rather someone else got it. =) It is very pretty though.

But I think the thing I love most about myself is that if I feel something I feel it right down to my bones. It makes me intense and passionate. It often makes me wild and magical. It drives me to be sincere even if it often makes others think I’m crazy. It makes me, me and it’s my favourite thing about me.

    <3 Kristi · Mar 2, 10:35 AM · #
  42. My favorite thing about myself is my continual optimism. I try very hard not to let life’s little knocks get me down, and I do my very best to inspire that optimism in the people around me! I strongly believe in not sweating the little things – it helps me keep from getting bogged down when the big things do show up.

    <3 Paige · Mar 2, 10:37 AM · #
  43. I’ve seen the glass art on the island of Murano and loved it! They are known for their glass art and I’ve wanted to be a glassblower since I was a little girl. This necklace would be pretty awesome to me for that reason.

My favourite thing about myself is that I often try to take other people’s feelings into consideration. What would that be called, sympathy? empathy?

I also like my smile :)

    <3 Savannah · Mar 2, 10:38 AM · #
  44. beautiful!!

I guess the thing I love most about myself is my cheerfulness towards friends and strangers. I have a very bubbly personality and it can be contagious. The next best thing to self love is spreading the love to others!

  47. Ooh, favorite thing eh? I love myself in general, but right now we’ll go with my love & acceptance of change. Makes living life much easier when you expect it and welcome it :)

  48. While being modest, my favourite thing about myself is the way that I look at the world.
I have no time for negativity – only positivity, loving, radiant energy, and beauty.
As an art student, I feel that Life and the Universe hold special little gifts or signs, sometimes only and all for me; found in the places where people overlook, or least expect it.
One little moment of appreciation for serenity and magnificence can change the course of your entire day. Nothing gets me down, because I know I’m magical in my own little way, and nothing or no one can ever change that!

    Radical self love!
    Namaste!♥

  51. I love the fact that I am cool with my age, I am 46 nearly 47! People ask me “don’t you wish that you could go back to your 20’s” or “wouldn’t it be great to be a kid again” and I always say NO! There is a lot to be said for the age I am…I am having a lot of fun…and I have a wonderful boy friend who incidentally is 11 years younger than me YAY! Life is wonderful in your 40’s, you worry so much less about the little things and can better judge what the little things are that are not worth bothering with! Smooches to one and all, happy March and have a groovy day! My e-mail is: frodoismycat@hotmail.com

  52. That has to be the prettiest thing ever. I swear!

    Things I love about myself?

    1. I have a laugh that has to be the most obnoxious thing ever. But, in a good way. If I laugh, people know exactly who it is. You can’t miss it for the world. And I’ve actually learned to love it.

    2. I love my sarcasm, which most people don’t understand. But, it makes me different I guess!

    3. I love how awesome my toes are. I can spread them so far apart and do epic things with them, like write and pick up things.

    Does that count?

    =D

  54. My nose, my hair, my smile, my one dimple, my laugh, my loyalty, my hands, the ways I support my friends and loved ones when they need me, my sense of humor, my knowledge of random weirdness and facts, how far I’ve come (I’m over 30 and it’s great), my writing, my ability to talk to strangers about what they love and what they’ve made and what makes them tick, my sense of weirdness and whimsy, and that i have worked hard enough to write about what i love for a living!

    <3 Louise · Mar 2, 10:49 AM · #

  57. Gorgeous!!
Okay, lets see, my favorite thing about myself. Probably how outgoing I am and how I’m never afraid to make a fool out of myself. I always go with my gut and do what I think is best for me! And I am incredibly good at making people smile even when they’re in the crappiest mood (and I usually do this by making a fool out of myself…perfect)
Thanks Gala, that made my morning :)

  58. I’ve come to love many things about myself lately (thank you RSLmonth and such :) ).
But there is one that I noticed almost immediately, among all negativity: when I laugh, it’s like a scale of notes!

    <3 Euforilla · Mar 2, 10:52 AM · #
  59. My favourite thing about myself is, that I’m pretty much always smiling and acting positively, which makes a lot of people around me a lot happier :)

  60. what do i love about myself? I just keep going on. that’s what matters most. I just pick myself up and keep going on.

    <3 Melissa Dominic · Mar 2, 10:54 AM · #
  61. My favourite thing about myself is my intelligence and knack for science. It just makes me feel amazing about myself to know that in my Physics classes, where all the other top students are male, the majority of the time I just blow them away. And I love being able to find it fun to just sit around, trying to wrap my mind around things, and it’s the most gratifying experience when all of the pieces finally click and everything just makes sense. : )

    <3 Cyndee · Mar 2, 10:55 AM · #
  62. I HEART my friends. They are always there with a motivating hand, wherever in the globe, and MOST importantly push me to love, live, laugh and be happy inside myself!

    <3 Jammy · Mar 2, 10:55 AM · #
  63. It’s so beautiful!

I love that I can inspire a possitive attitude in myself and others and that no matter what happens or what may go wrong that there is and will always be a plan B

    <3 Cate · Mar 2, 10:56 AM · #
  64. Ooh GORGEOSITY! I would say that looks how my heart feels right now but I’d be lying as I know full well my heart is fluorescent peach with gold and pink glitter. Fo sho.
What do I love most about myself? Well my big sexy swollen radical self love is suggesting a lot of things to me right now so I’ll list a few:
    1) I have the most ridiculous booming belly laugh which practically explodes out of me at any given moment like “HOO HOO HOO!” and I am told it is very infectious.
    2) I have what is called a “tidy hourglass” figure which means I’m a uk size 12 but have a booty that go on till sunday and a very saucy F cup and BOY do I consider meself blessed.
    3) I have lovely lovely long blonde hair. Like a lickle princess.
    And finally,
    4) I am super positive, super strong and I know I can achieve anything I want. I might be brassy and loud but it’s not a front, I go through life smiling inside and out and always will.

    therefore:

    :D

    <3 Rose Flowers · Mar 2, 10:57 AM · #
  65. My favourite thing about myself is my mind. Not just my intelligence, not just my personality, the whole package. I’m always grateful daily that despite the various things that go wrong with my body (illnesses and the like) my mind has always remained healthy and active (even over-active at times).

I’m thankful that I am capable of Radical Self Love, that my mind is healthy and allows me to love myself to the full.

    <3 Vixel · Mar 2, 11:00 AM · #
  66. What I most love about myself is that I am always open to new ideas and new ways of looking at things!

    <3 Katja · Mar 2, 11:02 AM · #
  67. What do I love most about myself? My flaws. My scars. My dark supernova explosion of a mind, my eclectic fashion sense & big stompy boots, and my whimsical-ness.

    <3 Twisted · Mar 2, 11:02 AM · #
  68. My favourite thing about myself is my independence, learnt from my favourite woman in the world, my Mum, who taught me that it doesn’t matter what other people think of you, it’s what you think of you that’s important.

    <3 Chrissy · Mar 2, 11:04 AM · #
  69. Just to clarify :) – My friends are a big part of me, and I love to consider them as mine!

    Rock on self love!

    <3 Jammy · Mar 2, 11:04 AM · #
  70. I love it!!

One of my favorite things about me is my patience to help people. Yesterday I actually used my RSL Bible to help a guy I don’t really know so well, so I didn’t know if it would work, but it did!

    <3 Zmaga · Mar 2, 11:07 AM · #
  71. Beautiful! I have a huge love for hearts!

I love that I am a huge cornball!! & that I’m not afraid to claim it. Oh & I have beautiful eyes!

    <3 Erica · Mar 2, 11:09 AM · #
  72. That heart is so cute! :)

The thing I love most about myself… I think I’m a very caring person. I care about almost everything, and everyone. It can be tiresome, as I often shoulder other people’s problems, and I feel too guilty for things that aren’t my fault. However, I think that (most of the time) it is a wonderful trait; i’ve found it can sometimes be hard to come by others who truly, truly care for other things & people beyond themselves.

    <3 Jade · Mar 2, 11:11 AM · #
  73. That pendant is exquisite. How wonderful!
I think what I like most about myself …is that no matter how rotten a person is, I always find myself looking for some kernel of goodness in them. Even if it’s “oh, he’s got a nice selection of ties”, or “she’s got a cute puppy”, or “wow, their garden is incredible”.
Silly things, small things. I refuse to believe that anyone is all bad.

And if nothing else, at least I must be highly creative in coming up with these things.
Which is another trait I like quite a bit about myself!

    <3 mlle ghoul · Mar 2, 11:14 AM · #
  74. It’s beautiful!

My favorite things about me are that I’m a wealth of useless (but interesting!) knowledge and my natural hair color, which is a reddish-brownish-auburn color.

    <3 dee · Mar 2, 11:15 AM · #
  75. I simply adore my sense of adventure and my laid back attitude! But I also love my obsession over the color yellow, the stars, and Harry Potter. Have a lovely day!

    <3 Monika · Mar 2, 11:15 AM · #
  76. What I love about myself is that I am approachable. I am friends with such a wide variety of people. Being in High school, I see a lot of the smart kids believe they are better than everyone else, and they don’t take the time to meet amazing people. I love that I take time away from my studies to provide service to my community. I believe that just because you’re smart does not necessarily mean you’ll be of any benefit to the world around you. Sometimes, it seems school focuses way too much on selfish success, and people really need to step back and see what is important in life – friends, family and love.

    <3 Katie · Mar 2, 11:16 AM · #
  77. My favorite thing about myself, physically, are my boobs :-) Personality-wise, I love my loyalty to love!

    <3 cherie · Mar 2, 11:17 AM · #
  78. Lovelovelove it! So glad we finally found out how to enter! Also loving reading what everyone loves about themselves, and that almost none of us can pick just one thing!

My favourite physical thing about myself is my eyes. My teeth always make my smiles look weird, but I feel that my eyes are really expressive, as well as being a really pretty shade of blue that I love! My second favourite is the barely noticeable steaks of ginger in my hair. Few other people know they are even there, but I love them just the same!

My favourite non-tangible thing about myself is my creativity. Even if things don’t always come to fruition, I always have a swag of ideas to play with, be it a new topic to blog about, a new story to write, a new way to re-arrange my furniture, a new cocktail for the bar, a fantastic holiday idea, an amazing business plan. That leads to the thing I love most about my boyfriend: he sits there, listens to it all, and makes me feel like I can actually do all of it, that it’s not just a pipedream.

    <3 Neysa · Mar 2, 11:18 AM · #
  79. I love my the color of my eyes :)

    <3 Gesine · Mar 2, 11:20 AM · #
  80. My feet.
There not to big, not to small. & they manage to take me to places i love, or am yet to love.

    <3 Danielle Padfield · Mar 2, 11:22 AM · #
  81. OO that is such a lovely heart-shaped pendant!! My favorite thing about myself is my singing voice. It has given me lots of opportunities to work and that makes me feel very good about myself.

    <3 Jacque · Mar 2, 11:25 AM · #
  82. The closest my dad ever came to telling me that he loved me – was to say that he thought I had a ‘warm heart’.

So now when I think about what I love about myself, I love that I have a warm heart…

    <3 Megan · Mar 2, 11:26 AM · #
  83. Oulala, I love that glass heart!

I love that I am a curious soul, I love that I am comfortable with vulnerability, I love that I can relate to people of all walks of life and I love that I have grown to include everyone in everything that I do. I feel for the “underdog” and I always talk to the “new” person at work/school because I want them to feel welcome and included.

    <3 Danielle · Mar 2, 11:26 AM · #
  84. I love how I never cease to be happy about the simplest little things! And, for the looks, my hair, and the way I look with flowers in it!

  85. I love that I’m so cheerful it’s contagious!

    <3 Jodi · Mar 2, 11:28 AM · #
  86. I love the fact that I’m able to make flawless mix CDs including both Barbara Streisand AND Lil’ Wayne.

    <3 Ashley · Mar 2, 11:28 AM · #
  87. I absolutely love my singing voice and my ability to get in touch with people’s emotions quickly. I love the strength of my legs and back. I love the gold and green flecks in my eyes and the thickness of my eyebrows. I love the strangeness of my hands and feet.

You know…I really need to sit down and do this exercise in my Radical Self-Love journal!

Thank you so much for doing this series. While many people write about the subject, the fact that you’re using your vast audience to get the message out and get people jazzed about their own awesomeness is totally rad.

    <3 Ellie Di · Mar 2, 11:29 AM · #
  88. I think the thing I love most about myself would have to be my quirky and dry sense of humor. I like making people laugh, but in a non-obvious, subtle way. :)

    <3 Olivia · Mar 2, 11:30 AM · #
  89. hi gala :) beautiful pendant, consider me entered! hihi
one thing i love about myself, the fact that i have grown so much in the last 2 months, especially this february with radical self love. ive devoted so much energy and focus on me (as selfish as that is) so be it! yoga, working out, going to swim class, spending time alone & loving myself; all i can say ive never been happier!! ive also dumped the negative guy in my life and ive been looking forward. thanks to you as well…loving myself is what i love best about myself :)

  90. My favorite thing about myself is the dedication I put into cultivating natural talents, like music, intelligence, and aesthetic sensibility.

BUT, right up front? My great legs.

    <3 Zeolite · Mar 2, 11:30 AM · #
  91. I love my sense of humor—it’s juvenile, awkward, often inappropriate, and insensitive, but it’s the one part of myself that survived 10 years of depression intact. And it allows me (this took a long time to learn) to laugh at myself.

    <3 Amy · Mar 2, 11:30 AM · #
  92. My favorite thing about myself is my strength.

    <3 Mardou · Mar 2, 11:33 AM · #
  93. Coolnes!
I love my eyecolour -so green. :)

    <3 Oola · Mar 2, 11:37 AM · #
  94. I like my endurance.

    <3 Allison · Mar 2, 11:38 AM · #
  95. My favorite thing about myself is how stubborn and determined I am! Whenever I’m faced with ridiculous deadlines or a lot of hard work I never give up. This has really come in handy with the 7 surgeries I’ve had, because without my stubborn determination I probably would’ve never been able to walk again. A lot of the times I fight so hard just because so many people doubt me and I love to show people just how strong my willpower is.

  120. Thing I love most about myself is my desire to fix things. Not in the DIY sense, but in the life sense.
Ever since I was able to walk I’d bring home baby birds that had fallen out of their nest, kittens that had lost their way and even a fox pup to my mum I’d found alone at a roadside with the intention of nursing them to health and setting them on their way. Of course the reality was that we’d call the RSPCA and they’d take them and do the job for me.
Even throughout nursey and primary school I was drawn to being friends with the kids from broken homes or with special needs – sure the friendships didn’t last forever but I loved being able to help someone in need when all the wanted was a friend.
Then even with boyfriends, I always seem drawn to the guys that need ‘fixing’. Everyone of my boyfriends has lost at least one of their parents and never really dealt with it.

So, how is that something to love about myself I hear you ask? Well, I love that my personality allows for me to help others in my everyday life and put the needs of others before mine. That I want everyone to lead a happy life and I’ll do all in my power to help someone discover it’s completely possible.

So, yeah, Radical Self Love FTW!

  129. What I love most about myself:

I love my ability to call bullshit on me. No, really: it’s very useful. I have a propensity to overthink everything, and a problem with perfectionism, and when I’m having a bad day I tend to get really down on myself.

Having a voice in my head that says “Hang on, back up. You KNOW it’s not that bad” is really nice. It has talked me out of trees, and back from the edges of cliffs, and on days where I can’t seem to do anything good, it manages to stop me from doing anything bad just for the sake of having done something.

It’s the presence of mind that suggests it is a good day to have a cup of tea, curl up with a book, and let go of what I can’t change so I can better work on what I can. It’s the same presence of mind that has helped me preserve a sense of integrity, judiciousness, and strength of will even when I’m stressed and upset and would honestly much rather scream obscenities and run off into the night. It affects every aspect of my life, and I’m grateful to have it.

I see youth and beauty as ephemeral, so I don’t place a lot of emphasis on my looks or figure. It’s my mind I value above all.

  134. What I love most about myself- I love myself for never giving up, never giving in and never quitting. No matter how bad it’s gotten, and it’s been pretty bad at times, I never quit. I want to quit so bad at times. I want to burying my head in the sand, go back to bed and pull the covers up over my head or drive my car off a bridge, but I don’t. I tell myself it will get better and I vow to remember, to never forget the bad days so that when the good ones come I will know them. When I was a child I never wanted to be like anyone else. Even at five and six I wanted to be different, well somewhere along the way I forgot that and tried to fit in. But that little girl inside my head would not be forgotten and finally she screamed loud enough that I heard her. So I am me, I am different, I am NOT a quitter.
    Thanks for the inspiration Gala.

The thing I love most about me is one of my teeth, it is not in line with the rest of my teeth. Everyone says i should get it pulled or straighten it with braces, but I love the way it makes my smile a little off kilter. I am 22 I have grown to love my inperfections and if I pulled my tooth I would lose my imperfect quirky smile that to me is perfect. What I’ve always noticed and loved is, at the end of the day, I’m a strong, intelligent and brave woman.

No amount of distraction can de-rail me from that truth: I am an amazing being that can pull through anything thats in front of me.

Anyway, my first reaction to what I love about myself was along the lines of “Hmm… my eyes? Nah, my legs. Actually, my ability to make people laugh…” And I went on like this for some time, arguing with myself. And then I realised the thing I love about myself is my ability to love myself. After years of hating the freakishly tall, lanky, awkward girl in the mirror (she is long forgotten, thank God), I have finally realised that I am brilliant and I love me.

  154. The RADICAL SELF LOVE movement is changing my life— I say, “is changing my life,” because the movement should never stop! I have realized so much about myself, my peers, my emotions, my motivation, and my very existance in general, all thanks to your beautiful Love Revolution.
The one thing that I have learned to love about myself the most, in spite of the name, “Radical Self Love,” is my radical love for those around me. It is very true that you can’t love anyone until you love yourself, and now that I’m head-over-heels with Me, I’m able to love everyone else with everything I have.
I dedicate each and every day to a certain person, maybe a friend or family member, and I spend the day writing them letters or making them cookies just to let them know that I love them!
This is my favorite thing about myself because it makes me feel wonderful, loved, and beautiful, and because it inspires others to look at themselves and realize that THEY ARE GORGEOUS INSIDE AND OUT, and that RADICAL SELF LOVE should be a part of their beautiful lives as well. *

  181. I love that no matter how hard my life keeps getting I still get up in the morning and can give people a smile. I love that I’m not a quitter when everyone expects me to fall down! I love that I can still crack a joke even in the hardest of situations. I love that I’m my mother beam of light when she needs it most. I love that one day this whole experience will leave me strong enough to change the world! (and I love that I get up early with a cup of coffee to go on galadarling.com…addict xD)

  182. And getting asked what I loved most about myself made me realize that I’m so, so far away from being able to say that I love myself. I practically haven’t even started this project properly, despite having already written two entries in my blog. I didn’t give this project all my heart and soul. Gosh, that makes me sad right now. I want to be like you and not live the tiring, saddening life I live right now. But not that my life is bad, it’s me. Going to school might be tiring sometimes but it’s the way I deal with it.
I am so freaking afraid of nearly everything in my life that it makes me want to cry.

But, writing this text, I have realized how I love my ability to speak English. You’ll have to start somewhere, I guess.
I think I’ll move the RSL project to my Livejournal because that feels more personal and more real. I’ll post the link to that sometime.
Still don’t want to enter, though. ^^

And I wanted to say: Please don’t ever stop doing RSL. And if you only ask us to write about our experiences with RSL during that week or something. I need you, you’re like my therapist. Ha, that’s really selfish, I’m sorry. But it is about SELF love, isn’t it? ;)

    xoxo

  183. What do I love about myself?

    ● I laugh at the jokes no one else will, to keep everyone from feeling awkward.
    ● Instead of saying “yum” or “this is good” while eating, I make little happy noises – it’s like a reflex, I can’t help it!!
    ● I have club thumbs, and no, it doesn’t make texting hard. (;
    ● When I give someone a hug, it’s like nothing else in the world matters but how warm and happy the hug is. I have been told I give very nice hugs.
    ● I have a freckle inside the corner of my left eye, and everyone thinks it’s eyeliner.
    ● I have the ability to make even my grumpiest friends laugh when they’re having a bad day. Even if they’re just laughing at how weird and silly I am.
    ● I love to smile at random stone-faced or sad-looking strangers when I’m out with friends or running errands. It’s the best feeling ever when they see you and smile back.
    ● I understand the merits of being selfish, like Radical Self Love. It’s good to help other people, but putting yourself first isn’t always a bad thing, either. It’s key to a happy, healthy life. I’m learning that more and more through this blog, myself, and observing other people. So, the number one thing I love about myself is:
    ● I have the ability to learn, grow, and be happy. And I LOVE knowing this!

Wow, that all felt pretty awesome to type out. (:

  190. I love myself because I know deep down, that I am capable of loving others. In a world that wants to be convinced of its individuality, I love that I can be happy for those around me. I love that my friends are pursuing their goals and reaching beyond themselves, challenging what they know already to be capable of, I love that they phone me, I listen, and am quiet and I hear my inner voice say, “Go for it, woman!”, “Achieve, and we all achieve with you!”

Win with love and we all win, I love that I know this, and that I am each day given the opportunity to practice it…...“Bring It On!!”, I say.

  194. I’d like to say two things I love about myself, one thing about my appearance and one thing about my personality. (I couldn’t decide on just one.)

First: My eyes. They are a unique very light blue/grey shade that runs in my family. I’m from a small town and people there are able to tell what family I belong to based on the color of my eyes.

Second: The way I approach everything in life with an open mind. I do not make judgments before having experience something for myself. I think this allows me to not hold back when it comes to trying new things.

  199. I really feel like the thing I love most about myself is the way that I unconsciously manage to attract the best people to me. I don’t have a single friend I don’t adore, and I feel like the vast majority of attention I get comes from people that I either love or honestly want to know better. Something about my personality, skills, appearance, and demeanor just attracts exactly the right people, which is absolutely amazing. I must be doing something right! It’s a good reason to love what I’m doing and not to change myself… as if I needed a justification!

  200. The necklace is beautiful!

What I love most about myself? My ability to listen. I am quite introverted and I tend to observe more than speak. People say I’m too quiet and all that, but it’s something I hold in high regard.

    <3 Melissa · Mar 2, 03:27 PM · #
  201. you’ve got me wondering who else lost their totems… ;)

what i love most about myself is my ability to cut straight through the b.s. and tell it like it is. this tends to get me in trouble at times, but ironically it is also what people like about me… i also like that i’m totally content being alone, and doing stuff on my own. it makes me feel powerful (...because i am!).

p.s. i am loving all these comments, esp. rachel’s (#183) – this is so true: “I love to smile at random stone-faced or sad-looking strangers when I’m out with friends or running errands. It’s the best feeling ever when they see you and smile back.”

My favorite thing about myself is my hair. I always get complimented and asked about who colors it… but it’s completely natural! It makes me feel good when hair stylists examine it for highlight ideas. :)

I used to be a bit of a people pleaser which landed me in some not so positive situations. I’ve recently learned to look inward for guidance and my life has taken an incredible turn for the better.

  275. I HAVE THIS NECKLACE AND HAVE BEEN USING IT AS MY TOTEM. My father bought one for my mother and I about 5 years ago while we were living 40km from Venice. After reading your first Radical Self-Love article I thought, “I have just the perfect thing for this…” I went searching for it and it didn’t turn up until randomly one day, though I thought I must have completely misplaced (lost) it. After reading your article just now I ran to my suitcase to see if I packed it in with my jewelry, and again almost gave up, when I saw its shimmering beauty shining up from underneath my ‘business accessories’. Such an auspicious sign!

  276. I love my nose. Like, I am completely enamored with it. I would write a love letter to it if I had the time. It’s so awkwardly shaped and different from what’s typically considered ideal. The bridge is stubbornly arched, and the tip is kinda round and bulbousy. It’s so unique and unyielding, and I hope that some day the rest of me will catch up be just as one-of-a-kind.

  277. Wow, what a great RSL totem that would be!
Hmmm…what do I happen to love most about myself?
Without a doubt, my sense of humor and sense of self.

For instance, on the A train this past week, I was wearing these new boots that unfortunately were not designed to withstand the morning rush hour and I achingly wanted a seat. So fortunately, one opened up at the next stop, but it was between these two buff men. So I squiggled in and apparently upset one of them, and he said some vulgar things to me concerning my weight. Now I’m a curvy girl, and that’s damn fine with me, so I muttered a funny retort poking fun at him and myself in the process, making everyone near me and myself laugh. A couple stops later, the rude man walks out, and this lovely elderly lady comes up to me and congradulates me warmly for not letting the jerk’s comments get to me. I almost had tears in my eyes as I realized how proud of myself I felt, that I didn’t let myself become fazed, something that the old Cristal would’ve done.

Ohh, sorry for the long post. I just wanted to share how I managed to grow and accept myself, and that everyone should and CAN too!

I love that my self confidence has grown ten-fold over the past few years from almost nothing…and it’s always the first thing people notice about me now :) I love that I am able to be this way without seeming concieted and show-offy like a lot of confident women and girls do. 290. What I love most about myself is my eyes. I believe that if you look into someone’s eyes, you can tell so much about them without even having to exchange words.

If you look into my eyes, you’ll see that they’re darkened with wisdom, bright with hope for the future, & outlined with a deep green; symbolizing how well-rounded I’ve become throughout the time I’ve spent learning about life & myself. I like to think that the green/hazel sunburst around my pupil stands for the sun outside, always rising & setting … but always coming up out on top (of the world !) =] <3 Kimberly · Mar 2, 10:31 PM · #

  302. This is going to sound trivial (and be very long) because it’s just a physical aspect of myself but my favorite thing about me is my dimple. I only have one — it’s on my right cheek — and I used to be really insecure about it because people would always point it out and make comments about how “cute” it is or they would touch it and it always seemed like they were making fun of me for it. I was so insecure I even thought about getting my cheeks pierced for a short while so that I would get a dimple on my other cheek. But now I’ve learned that it’s just another one of my quirks and should be celebrated along with my mismatched eyebrows and loud laugh that sounds more like a cackle if you say something funny that catches me off guard :-)

  308. Oh I can completely relate to Vanessa up there, just writing the phrase ‘what I love about myself most is….’ just makes me stare at it with no thoughts really as to what it could relate to. I’ve finally come up with: I will always be myself no matter what anyone thinks, this doesn’t really regard appearance at this stage (still something I’m battling it out with, I’m getting there) but I’ll say what I want to say in every situation. People think I’m ‘weird’ generally but I don’t really care about that, it’s a positive thing in my mind.

Seeing all these incredibly positive comments just shows me that one day if someone asks me what I like about myself I’ll be able to rattle off a long list instead of barely coming up with one. And I guess that’s why you’re doing this! Thankyou!

  317. The thing I love most about myself is my lips. For years I hated them, worried about how they looked, pushed them out unconsciously. This was do mostly to my older sisters constant comments and jokes about my lips. But after reading your blog, and a few rounds of EFT, I have realized that my lips are my favorite thing about myself. They are relatively thin and cupid bowed but they are amazing and beautiful, and as my friend Judith once told me “They are a big part of [my] Jerika-ness”. So I love and thank my lips because they are a part of me :]

  318. When I was teenager, I was ashamed of my mind and things it was capable of doing. Like, you know, smart girls were NOT popular back then, so I did everything to conceal it.
Now I am in my 3rd year in university and I can’t begin to say how much I love my intellectual mind. It is very weird, actually, I have tried to pretend to be avarage, but now I am proud to say out loud that I am, in fact, smart.

I feel so blessed and as if this gift was given to me for some purpose; so now I am finally grateful as I should have been from the very beginning.

Love yourself & above all your inner world, because nothing is more beautiful and produces more light in the world than a single, precious thought in your head!

  325. As a small girl my body was taken advantage of. It has taken a TON of learning to allow myself to LOVE myself. To really truly LOVE myself. I worked at a feminist sex store to see how other women dealt with their abuse, I took classes, I worked for a sex worker as a personal assistant and I asked the sex workers how they felt and what their bodies and minds went through – all of this for my own education. To really show myself that even though awful things happen – that people really make it through and they are okay and sometimes they even CHOOSE to live this way. I finally allowed myself to realize that I am SO strong, I am extremely protective of myself (and my body) and I just adore myself for taking such good care. I could be in a much different place right now.

The thing I love most about myself is that I am strong in so many ways and that I would do ANYTHING to protect myself. I love myself THAT much. Best relationship ever.

  333. I am in love with my legs; they are long and shapely, and I get to show them off with leggings, super skinny jeans, and giant platform heels. My eyes are a shade of glamorous, deep navy blue, with flecks of a lighter shade; I’ve inherited it from a long line of people with the same exact eye color, and I could not be prouder to have it. Not to mention it’s stunning and complements a million different eye makeup combos—and I love their shape. Also, ever since I’ve started taking birth control last July, my boobs have grown a full cup size—maybe even a bit more. This leaves me with a satisfying 34C on a tiny 5’5” frame, which I absolutely adore. I love that the shape of my face complements huge-frame nerd glasses. I love my natural hair color, which I’ve been hiding since 8th grade (I’m about to graduate high school); I’m naturally a gorgeous dirty blonde. And I love the fact that my hair is recovering from years of torture and returning to the thick mane it once was.
I love my energy. I can rally a room full of people to get up and go somewhere, do something, be someone, if I’m in the right mindset. I can accomplish anything I want to if I put my mind to it. I love my self-determination; I got myself off of ADD medication as soon as I learned it was causing me crippling social anxiety and a dangerous weight loss problem. I went through a rough withdrawal stage after being on the pills (Concerta) for 3 years, but I made it through, and I am in love with the person I became.

  344. I LOVE this contest. I have never really felt right about saying “I like this about me”. I always felt conceeded. I love being able to just spill all the things I love about me.

My eyes: Nobody in my family has my eyes. They are icy blue inside and a dark blue/green on the outside. Everybody always tells me I have the prettiest (blue) eyes (I always argue that they aren’t just blue, but that is more for fun)!

My hair: It is a nice shade of brown. Not too dark, not too light. It has a strong red base, so if/when i decide to dye my hair, reds show up so nicely. My hair is also naturally very soft. One of my friends is jealous because no matter what she puts into her hair, she can’t ever seem to get it as soft as mine. Also, it is styled like Victoria Beckham, but with side-swept bangs.

My craft abilities: I am always making/designing something. Sure, it may not look good as a final product. Sure, I might mess up something crucial. I don’t care about that. I see what I did wrong and I learn from it. I have been doing this type of stuff since I was about 5. My mom even started me on sewing when I was 8! I grew up with this and it serious has influenced me and how I think.

My singing: I have always had a love of singing. All through school, I have been involved with chorus and not too long ago, I took voice lessons. I have seen improvements all along and I LOVE it. In about 2 weeks, I have my first concert since 2006…and this one is entirely SOLO! I’m so pumped!

I also love me. The package me. If you take away anything (even the parts of me that I am not so in love with), it wouldn’t be completely me. I like the person I am. It has taken quite a while for me to get to this place, but I am finally here and I wouldn’t change it.

  347. I thought long and hard about my answer to this question.
For 3 painful years I suffered from social anxiety, so I was unable to go out in public without feeling confident and secure about myself. I had zero self esteem and I learnt to hate my self. Recently, in the past year or so, I have slowly been able to overcome this condition and have gradually learnt to live with my self and my body and learn to accept who I am. The whole time I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it is so refreshing and assuring to safely say that I am well out of the tunnel. The whole process made me realise I am a stronger and more able person for overcoming such an experience. So, what do I love about myself? I love that I can accept who I am.

  353. I love love love my thick hair. I hated it growing up. It always seemed like a hassle, and I got teased because of the crazy frizz. But I’ve grown into it. I’ve learned to tame it, let it go wild, and most of all—to love it. I celebrate my hair love with quirky hair accessories.

I also love my creepy little alien toes, my bizarre sense of humor, my blend of naivety and pragmatism, my daring, and the birthmark on my left shoulder.

  359. Hi :-)
What do I love most about myself? Hmm… There are definitely plenty of things that I can say about myself that I’m not too fond of. Although I once had self-esteem issues, the discovery of this website has helped – greatly. Before, I couldn’t find anything about myself that I could stand. Everything had to go and everything had to improve. While improvement is good to have [the setting of goals in everyday life, resolutions, healthy thoughts, etc.], I just fought with myself constantly. I could remember thinking ‘you’re too naggy, you’re too rude, you have a fat face, etc.’. It got so bad; I became depressed and tried out many different medications. I hit the lowest point of my life when I turned to self-mutilation. The thought of punishing myself for not being perfect seemed like a good idea to me. Now, thanks to Gala, I can actually say that I love myself – all of me. I see what others can see. I still look for self-improvement – on the things that I NEED to change and CAN change. If I had to pick one thing that I love about myself, it’s my courage. I gathered enough courage and strength to get past my horrible times and move on. I can now say that I no longer cut myself. These scars are reminders of the past. Little things here and there that kind of say ‘Hey. Don’t go down that road. You are loved – by friends, family, and, most importantly, yourself’. I had the strength to bring myself up from the depths and look forward, be positive, be strong. Although, I’m still on anti depressants and still in therapy, I’m doing much better and hopefully will soon be out of therapy, fully recovered and off medication. I don’t need the darkness in my life… I’ve got self-love and that’s the best light that there is.

  363. Oh! That is a gorgeous necklace!

What I love about about myself is that I never give up, I have the strength to pull myself through and out of anything that life has thrown at me through the past two years. I love that I have learned to stand on my own two feet by myself, that I don’t have to ask anyone for direction about my life/what to do with myself anymore. I love that I’m learning to love me.

One thing that I really love about myself is that I always look at the positive side of things, which makes me happy, and those around me happy because I tend to do things that make them happy too :)

  368. The things I love about myself now are the things that I used to completely hate when I was younger: my curly hair and my crooked bottom teeth. Eventually I hope to be able to see everything else that I don’t like about myself as quirky and charming rather than ugly. It’s going to take a while but…. two down!! I’m on my way!

I love my ability to create. 375. My favourite part about me is my eyes. They’re almost an emerald green, with hazel around the pupils, which is pretty ordinary. But they’re my favourite feature in spite of how plain they are, because they tie me to my family. They are exactly my mother’s eyes (I share her voice too, which I count as a blessing aswell), and also my great grandmother’s on my father’s side, and my father’s mother’s, whom I never had the chance to meet because she died of breast cancer before I was two. All I remember of her is that she bought me my favourite toy of all time, and that her eyes inspired her nickname, Hazel. I’m told when I was a baby she called me Hazel, and since her death it’s been my nickname with the whole family, both sides. My eyes hold generations of strong women with each blink, wink, and glimmer, and tie me to a beautiful woman I never really got to know.

And I must say I love love love this self love spirit. The more I read, the more I realise that if I’m not going to take good care and feel good about myself, probably nobody else would. So thank you very very much for this.

  379. I love the way I can connect with animals. They could be all freaking out and scared and running around, and I just pet them and talk to them sweetly and they calm right down.

Even when I started having pets when I was little, I wouldn’t choose them, they honestly and truly chose me. My first dog ran up to me like I was an old friend, and she had barely known me for five minutes.

My rabbit pawed the glass and reached out to me when I looked at him in the glass cubicle he called home in the pet shop. When I come home from work, he starts doing a little happy dance in his cage and sticks his little nose out of the bars to nuzzle me.

I love animals wholeheartedly, and I think the pick up on that.

  382. I think, what I love most about me, is that I am very emotional. One of my previous boyfriends used to insist this was a bad thing, but he was afraid to feel- I am not. I let myself feel what it is

I feel, I don’t try to lock it away from even myself. There are times where showing a certain emotion to others isn’t always the best idea, true. Then there are times where I get angry or upset over something small I know shouldn’t bother me so much, so I try to deal with it internally.

But I still let myself feel . I still face, and even befriend, my own heart.

He asked me once, how I could be “so damn happy”. The truth is, I think, that I can be so happy precisely because I can be so low. When I feel sad, I work through it. I work through it so I can move on, so I can learn from what I feel and make things right from there. If I try to cut myself away from feeling instead of facing it, all it does is fester like an old, gross wound.

I don’t mean to insult anyone who doesn’t think like this. I don’t think any differently of people either way. This is just how I work, and for me, it is what works best.

  391. The thing I most love about myself is my willingness to forgive. I’m still learning to focus that towards myself as well as everyone else, but it’s a wonderful thing to be able to make the decision to forgive yourself for stuffing up, it completely paves the way to trying both new things, and things that you didn’t quite get right the first time again.
Forgiving someone (whether it’s yourself or someone else) also helps to fight anger and sadness for me, so I can focus on being the happy, wonderful person I am, mistakes and all.

  398. While I’m still far from really loving myself, I know I make people more open minded and I make them have more fun. I’m indecent, I know my ‘Finnegans Wake’ quotes and I know how to dance. So far this all made me survive in the world with all my horrid imperfections, and when I’m not so well sometimes I see that others happy to see me, and I know that they see something I yet cannot get access to. But they are the proof it exists! and I know we all got something, and I got my something good, too. Sweet Jesus, forgive the cheese.

  400. I love the fact that I’m comfortable being alone. I moved to a new city less than a year ago and it’s scary and great: I take myself out on dates: to art shows, book launches, plays, dinner…

The think I love the most about myself is that, despite battling sincere self-confidence issues for many years, I’ve put it all aside to pursue my ambitions. I like that I haven’t let my negative self-opinion define who I am, or stop me from trying to create a great life for myself. The further along I get, the more I value this trait.
