Moth Dreams

<3 Buy a dream dictionary & use it to decode your subconscious. Make secret scribblings!

<3 Learn to love Otis Redding. (My favourite tracks are Try A Little Tenderness, A Change Is Gonna Come & These Arms Of Mine).

<3 Sneak onto a rooftop at night, lie down & drink iced tea. Enjoy the view & twinkling lights.

<3 Have someone else feed you berries.

<3 Kiss your lover’s toes.

<3 Make a list of your favourite things about the person sitting nearest to you. Bonus points if you give it to them anonymously!

<3 Listen to this song on repeat:

Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala <3

  1. OH! Otis Redding…love, love, love! Have you ever seen “Pretty In Pink”? The classic 80’s John Hughes film starring Molly Ringwald and John Cryer? It’s wonderful and one of my favorite scenes is when John Cryer’s character, Duckie (best friend of Molly’s character Andie) dances to “Try a Little Tenderness”...it’s one of the best things you will ever see in a movie :) It makes me smile every time, and Duckie is probably the very best thing about the entire film! To quote him: “Well, I’m off like a dirty shirt!”

So very much love for you-Always, Gala!!! You are such a kind, amazing soul! Love you!!
    Kendra Jacklyn

P.S.-Thanks for the e-mail back! You are so sweet, and I thank you so very much for your kind words of encouragement and your belief in me!!

  2. One of my recent resolutions is to spend time sitting alone drinking coffee reading, writing, eavesdropping, or whatever I feel like at least 3 times a week. I’m going to do the list of things about the person closest to me today for sure!!

  3. Try a Little Tenderness is my top choice for my funeral song. (Doesn’t everyone have one….) Other songs include Janis Joplin’s Turtle Blues and Bob Dylan’s Just Like a Woman….. And yes that scene in Pretty in Pink is one of the best in film history!!

  4. Gala, what is that awesome song? I love it so much!!!!
And awesome style tips as always. I feel happier just reading them!

  5. I’m definitely trying the iced tea + rooftop idea this week! Also, since it’s excruciatingly hot outside, I bought a box of individually wrapped popsicles and handed them out to people I saw during my walk home from the grocery store. It’s funny how something so easy can make so many people happy!
    Have a great day Gala!

  6. Kendra Jacklyn — Yes, I’ve seen it! Kisses!

alicia — Time alone is good. I relish mine :>

cat tv — I used to have a chosen funeral song but it was soooo goth, haha! I don’t have one any more.

ange — It’s Abusing Of The Rib by Atmosphere. Best song everrrrr right?! I am on a total Atmosphere kick today!

sade — That is an AWESOME idea, I LOVE it!

  7. Oh my GOD, Abusing the Rib! I did listen to that on repeat on a beach vacation last winter. It was a nameless track on my sister’s iPod, and I searched high and low for it when I came home. I already loved Atmosphere, and only love them more for it.

    <3 Ophélie · Jul 22, 08:09 AM · #
  8. Very nice song! I’m trying to broaden my musical horizons, and I really want to check out more Atmosphere songs!

  10. Oh Gala, I wish you could come hang out on the roof of my apartment building. We don’t even have to sneak up onto it! We get magnificent views of the National Cathedral, Washington Monument, Virginia, Maryland- it’s wonderful and magical at night.

  11. There are people out there who DON’T love Otis Redding? ; ) I love that you’ve become an ambassador of music, G.

As for iced tea and rooftops, here’s a better idea… wine and rooftops (that is, if your rooftop is navigable while a bit tipsy). The pair creates quintessential gorgeous summer memories. Better still? An unexpected delicious treat with red wine is honeydew melon popsicles. I found these at my local Korean market and can’t get enough. A friend and I just recently enjoyed both on his back porch while looking for shapes in the clouds.

  32. I read an awesome dream book once called Breakthrough Dreaming that is really good at helping you interpret your own dreams – it says that dream dictionaries can only go so far because to one person a snake may mean death and fear, while to another it may mean sensual beauty, to another it’s a phallic symbol etc. etc.
It’s also got tips on how to lucid dream and how to retain more of what you dream.
It’s here www.amazon.com/Breakthrough if anyone wants to get it.

For a quick interpretation though I like the Secret Life of Dreams by Clare Gibson. I also have the Secret Universe of Names by Roy Feinson – it’s heaps of fun at parties to see what personality traits people’s names give them.

  33. Every time I hear “Try a Little Tenderness”, the scene from Pretty in Pink pops into my head.
    I love that song.
I want to meet Jon Cryer and play that song… and see how he reacts. I’m hoping he’ll dance.
