Super Tuesday
[ 5 February 2008 ]
My dear American readers,

As you are probably aware, today is Super Tuesday. I don’t normally make political statements here, but you guys have the power to change the world. Plus, I would really love to move to your fine country one day — so please exercise your right to vote! Someone charming in power would be really lovely — for you & everyone else.
Thanks for listening.
Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala ![]()

you’re telling me! :) everything you said x10, being that i am from the US…things have gotten so bad. the time for a change is well overdue.
Now we just need a president that can focus on events that truly matter. :) hopefully one day
THIS JUST MADE ME LOVE YOU!
Aw! I think America is the coolest, most amazing country on the planet, so I want only the best for it!
We can switch. I’ll take your place in Melbourne and you can take my place in Seattle.
Obama, baby<3
I have that poster on the back over my car!
Ahh, elections.
Oooh, politics. This could get feisty. Wouldnt it be great if someone like Robin Williams in ‘Man of the Year’ became president? I love that movie. =D
yes.
My primary isn’t until next Tuesday, but my absentee ballot has already been submitted. Yea for voting!
This ‘Final Salute’ photo gallery broke my heart today:

As one of your faithful American readers, I agree with you whole-heartedly. The only problem is my state’s primary is not until May. I truly hope the masses show up at their polling places tomorrow and make themselves heard. We desperately need positive change.
Tomorrow is Mardi Gras, too. Hehe.
Unfortunately, I can’t vote, but I’d love to if I was able.
I wouldn’t dream of not voting. It’s a privilege that women fought hard to win. However, I’m not thrilled with my party’s candidates, and New York is a state where 1) you must registered as a Democrat or a Republican in order to vote in the Primary and 2) you must vote your party line in the Primary.
It will most likely be a snap decision for me in the voting booth, and that doesn’t make me happy. I like to feel a strong conviction for the candidate for which I vote.
ooooooooooooobbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaammmmaaaaaaaaaaa
This is only a subliminal message. Please move along.
Oh my gosh, Gala. When I saw this post I seriously thought the war in the Middle East was over for some reason. That would be amazing….but it has to wait until we get a legit person in office! We’ll do our best so you have a better country to move to one day!
first time old enough to vote in a presidential election :) i went to my Iowa caucus already but am still really curious about the turnout for Super Tuesday!
i also hate that you have to be registered as a Dem or Rep to caucus here. i would like to be able to keep my Independent status… grrr
but, yay for voting indeed!
The primary in my state (beautiful Vermont) isn’t until March! Bummer. I’m registered independent. I shall be voting in our primary, even though it probably won’t count for anything…kind of like the popular vote. Also, my younger brother, born in 1990, is voting this November. Blows my mind!
And funny that you should mention wanting to move to America, as I’ve been keen on moving to Australia or New Zealand after I graduate for the longest time (not for political reasons though, ha)!
Although I live in Australia, I actually have an American passport so I am definatley interested in the future of that country, i have lots of family over there, so i am hoping that all goes well in Super Tuesday :)
I agree with you Gala, Americans its time for a change please please vote for someone with brains this time!!
i am so upset!
i will be 18 by the time the election in November comes around, but since i’m only 17 right now i figured i could not vote on anything yet.
BUT i found out today that because i will be 18 by the November date, i could have voted today!
drats! darn! damn!
i really wish i could have given Obama that extra vote.

Im just putting the link Nadine put up again because it made me cry n i think more people need to look at the photos. The ones with
Katherine Cathey hit me the most.
I haven’t gotten a chance to register to vote yet. :(
And today is also Mardi Gras. =)
I AM VOTING TOMORROW:) I am a woman, Chinese-American, and 18. There was a day when I wouldn’t have been able to vote, but since I can, I will definitely be exercising that right! I AM SO EXCITED!
I will of course be voting today. I haven’t missed a vote yet since I turned 18!
However… though I love your site and am hugely interested in fun and fashion I am also VERY conservative politically. I tend to think my votes would not get a Gala seal of approval (Bush – twice! and I still think I made the right choice). I hoe we can still be friends.
I am so glad to see all the comments here about people being committed to voting. As I say to all my friends… if you don’t vote – you can’t complain about politicians. Nothing annoys me more than people who don’t vote.
i’m english, not american, but i am still following the election with baited breath! good luck, america(ns) xxx
i’m too young to vote in my state this time, but i will be for national elections!
Why do you want to live in the US? I live here and all I want is to move somewhere awesome like Australia one day! I’d like to know your opinions on living in the US vs living in Australia. Australia seems like it would be awesome, so it would be great to hear what I don’t know about it, I guess?
I urge everyone yet to vote to check out the candidates backgrounds and platforms. Make an informed vote, don’t just choose a familiar name.
Time for change.
OBAMA <3
I’m from Missouri (Misery??) And yes I’m voting. Obama!!! Wooooo!
See? It is possible for mid-westerners to not be backwards rednecks. Yay progress! I hope the dems win over this horrible red state.
I voted last week in Florida. I definitely think voting is extremely important, especially for us women! :-)
I voted for the very first time today! I’ve never been old enough to vote before, so it’s a big event-type thing for me.
It was quite an ordeal, since they apparently never got my change of address request and I had to go scooting all over town to find the right polling place. Now it’s done, though, and I’m happy.
The Texas primary isn’t until March 4 but I’m definitely going to be there. Unfortunately, my favorite candidate (Dennis Kucinich) dropped out several days ago due to low votes (read: 0 or 1 % in every primary). GRR! So I am voting for the next best thing.
However I’d like to point out that charm is not always the best indicator of a great president (several of the more fundamentalist candidates come to mind), although I’m sure you already knew that. :)
It was also shrove Tuesday so everyone should have eaten pancakes.
Obama ftw! woot! It’s time for change!
everyone PRAY that anyone but john mccain wins! he will continue the war the entire time he is in office.
i see some major changes happening in america. people are not going to stand for the things our government is doing without the support of the country.
CALIFORNIA SECESSION! kidding, kidding…:)
i guess i’m a little jaded, but dude, its like our votes don’t even count. the paper ballots have been replaced by electronic machines (from diebold, which dick cheney was ceo of) with no paper trail- no way to see what the real vote count is. they stole the election in 2000 to get in in the first place, and i’m not sure how much power we the people have in this totally corrupt system. that said, i always excercise my right to vote, and know that my intent goes somewhere, at least.
