Last night, Rachel & I went to a yoga rave. Yes. A YOGA RAVE. It was pretty amazing. I wrote about it for ChinaShop, so click for all the details!
Actually, this whole week has been pretty incredible. Yesterday, I started my day with a session with EFT coach Annie Siegel. I’d never met with her before, & our hour-&-a-half session was extremely illuminating. As I told Rachel later that day, it’s one thing to talk to someone about your problems; it’s totally another to speak to someone about your problems & be able to RELEASE them in their entirety. I left our session feeling incredible, with a whole new outlook. I am so grateful. Thank you, Annie!
One of my favourite things that’s happened since last Thursday was going bike-riding with my husband on Saturday. We rode from the East Village down to Battery Park & up the West Side Highway, & we had a total blast! I can’t wait until the weather is good enough to go out on our bikes every weekend!
Here is pictorial evidence of some nice things that happened this week…
Catwoman in a cab, & fairies at the YogaRave!
I’ve been taking photos of my daily footwear, aka, “Instashoes”...
(P.S. I’m galadarling on Instagram! Let’s be besties!)

Michael Jackson by Dave Hogan.
Take a spin on the Carousel! You know you want to… If the King of Pop can’t persuade you, who can?!
A warning to a new generation of women — don’t let ‘Sex and the City’ ruin your life. Um, okay. Well, that’s the most ridiculous & insulting thing I’ve read in ages. Here’s an awesome rebuttal. I love this post from Bailey, too: 5 Things Carrie Bradshaw Failed to Mention About New York City.
Kate’s post on wearing a tank top — & her body angst — is a great read.
This is a fantastic guide to Harlem!
I adore this chevron dresser makeover... Not expensive, but you would need to be precise & patient! (Um, two things I mostly certainly am NOT!)
I am loving Powder Doom. It’s an excellent beauty & make-up blog!
The Model Alliance’s Industry Survey Finds Nearly 30% of Models Have Been Sexually Harassed and 50% Exposed to Cocaine. This isn’t exactly surprising, but it’s definitely depressing.
If you’ve ever wanted to read Alan Watts’ On The Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are... Now you can. Click that link for the entire book in PDF format! It’s brilliant, here’s an excerpt:
This feeling of being lonely and very temporary visitors in the universe is in flat contradiction to everything known about man (and all other living organisms) in the sciences. We do not “come into” this world; we come out of it, as leaves from a tree. As the ocean “waves,” the universe “peoples.” Every individual is an expression of the whole realm of nature, a unique action of the total universe. This fact is rarely, if ever, experienced by most individuals. Even those who know it to be true in theory do not sense or feel it, but continue to be aware of themselves as isolated “egos” inside bags of skin.
New Yorkers: here are the best bodega sandwiches!
Here are some top tips for manifesting.
$55/month apartments actually exist! Oh my goodness.
All hail Jennifer “I Love Doing Social Stuff Alone!” Wright! ‘Cause, guess what? ME TOO!
This is amazingly hilarious: The Comment Section for Every Article Ever Written About PETA. So true!
I absolutely loved Kat’s piece on the art of self-confidence. It’s true, we all struggle with confidence from time to time, & I loved what Kat had to say about it.
Wow! 500 new fairytales were discovered locked away in an archive!
These are the most amazing floral sculptures I have ever seen… Jaw-dropping! Don’t they just make you want to throw an extremely extravagant party?!
You can map your own stillspot here. “A stillspot is any place you find peace & stillness.” Awesome.
Um, wow. Luxirare makes four meals using one machine: a waffle-maker!
Have you seen Chris Arnande’s photographic series Faces of Addiction? It’s very thoughtful & extremely engaging.
I was super-sad to hear about Royce’s passing… We love you, Royce! “God on a wheel!” RIP!
Of course, Karl’s daily routine is nuts… & awesome.
Oh my goodness! Hyperventilating over Le Petit Prince! P.S. It is not what you think, Monsieur de Saint-Exupéry!
I love this: Claim Your Power.
A lesson from Sir Richard Branson: Why geeks need to learn how to delegate! It’s not always easy, but it is necessary…
I think everyone should read this: Lies In The Gym dispels a lot of the ridiculous nonsense we’re told about working out, including stupid things like “working out with weights will make women bulky” etc. In case you were wondering, I do barely any cardio, pretty much ALL weights… & I love it!
Kris Carr on how she handles criticism. This should be essential reading for anyone with a blog! Haha!
My sweet friend Rabbit wrote 7 kinky sex tips for curious vanilla girls. Yay! Spice it up!
I’m so thrilled that Mad Men is back on television! The Cut did a fashion recap of the first episode.
Here’s a great photo of the turkey in Battery Park! (I tried to take a shot of her for ages, with no success… This one is fantastic.)
Autumn wrote a completely fascinating piece which looks at why tanning is still popular. I love it. The comment from Franca mentions that a tan covers up imperfections, which is also true. It’s no secret that a tan makes you look slimmer & disguises cellulite: a major bonus for most women, & (I think) one of the reasons why tanning is so prolific today.
Jonel Joy wrote a fantastic piece, What Is Feminism? in response to my article about radical self love & lipstick.
The chunky/gorgeous woman on the subway, by Kate.
Lisa who runs The Scribble Diaries is posting a scribble prompt every week until May 1st, when her book comes out… Get scribblin’!
Here’s another awesome response to my radical self love & lipstick piece: Feminists don’t wear make-up. Danielle wrote this about shaving her head in college. There are some great lines in here, especially this, which I identify with…
So we went to his apartment and shaved our heads. Did I think this was extreme? Yes and back then, I was ok with extremities. (For I felt that within myself, there was a giant, empty vase and in order to fully live, to fully know, I needed to do as much as possible to fill that vase with as many experiences as I could- whether good or bad. So I said yes more than no.)
This is meaningful: On (Finally) Accepting Feminism.
Fiona Apple’s triumphant live return!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhh!
Hahah! Hilarious: You know you’re a real New Yorker when…
I love Chloe’s donutography!
A Short Lesson in Perspective. This was written by an ad man & it’s absolutely brilliant. Please read this if you’re in ANY creative industry, because it’s true for all of us.
The trick to being truly creative, I’ve always maintained, is to be completely unselfconscious. To resist the urge to self-censor. To not-give-a-shit what anybody thinks. That’s why children are so good at it. And why people with Volkswagens, and mortgages, Personal Equity Plans and matching Louis Vuitton luggage are not.
Autumn wrote a fantastic piece, What I Know About Beauty Now That I’m In My 30’s & it is fantastic. Rachel & I were talking last night about HOW EXCITED we are to turn 30! (I will be 29 this year!) Why be frightened of the inevitable? Why not, instead, choose to embrace it as something positive?
I really liked what Britticism had to say about fake hair.
Police pulled over a Lamborghini-driving Batman…
Nanette Lepore’s Tumblr is so cute — I love her colouring book!
You should make your own cute camera strap! Shouldn’t you?!
Have a fantastic weekend!
