Things I Love Thursday
<3 <3

<3 Learning about colour — I had an Aura-Soma consultation with Joycelle on my birthday & it was mind-blowing. As well as giving me lots of insight as to where I was & where I needed to get to, she told me a lot about colour & how we can use it for transformation. She told me to incorporate more blue & turquoise into my life, & since then I have been wearing blue almost every day, & this might sound kooky, but I have been feeling better than I have in a long time! I can’t really explain it but I feel more productive & lucid, which is a great thing! We chose an Aura-Soma bottle for me to start using which arrived a couple of days ago, it is bright pink (of COURSE!) & it smells amazing, & so I am basically dabbing this yummy love-generating oil on myself, massaging it into my skin & smelling it all day. It is pretty incredible! BY THE WAY we’re kicking off our psychic Q&A section TOMORROW! YAY!

<3 Long phone/Skype conversations. I have been having a lot of them recently, it’s like everyone has so much to say & discuss! & even though I have so much work to do, it has been really really good to reconnect with everyone, comb through our lives & analyse the hell out of everything!

<3 Dinner with new friends — Last night I went to one of my favourite restaurants with Mer (who is one of the co-founders of everyone’s favourite magazine, Coilhouse!) & we had such a great time! She is wonderful, we talked non-stop & laughed until we actually cried. She is fantastic company, I like her so very much. Also, she said this about the dark side of Burning Man, & I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe: “I’m going to take an E & dry-hump some random person on a fun-fur bean-bag.” MWAH!

<3 Watching Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory — From 1971, natürlich! It is so ridiculous & bad but I love it anyway. & did you know that it was given that title because at the time, the word “Charlie” was a nickname for the Viet Cong? Also, did you know that the exterior of the chocolate factory was Munich’s gas works? & that the picture held up by the newscaster of the last finder of the Golden Ticket was Nazi Martin Bormann?! ALSO did you know that Roald Dahl (my birthday twin!) HATED the adaptation SO MUCH he never saw it?! Apparently he saw some of it by mistake in a hotel room but changed the channel as soon as he realised what it was!

Things I Love Thursday
I wish I remembered where this came from. It is SO OLD.

<3 That the rumour about the Montgomery animal shelter closing down & euthanizing any animals left was not true — but mostly this comment left on this article:

Too bad it wasn’t true. I was gonna start a cat boxing league with all the adopted cats.

Aahaahahahaha!

<3 Honourable mentions: Gonzo: The Life & Work of Hunter S. Thompson (this is much better than any other documentary I have seen on him — it was released in December last year & produced by Johnny Depp); papillon puppies; the word “Wonkamania”; “I am now telling the computer EXACTLY what he can do with a lifetime supply of chocolate!”; 2-for-1 cocktails; Pee Wee Herman on Twitter!; MAC Cosmetics, yesterday, today, tomorrow; rad feedback on Love & Sequins #5; old episodes of the Krypton Factor on television; irresponsible breakfasts; not getting a lot of work done because I’m spending so much time talking to friends; this tweet; this one too!; Kylie Minogue & her come-hither eyebrow (zing!) — I actually think it is totally rad even though many people do not; having Fashion TV playing constantly while I work & periodically getting up to GAPE at something; Yayoi Kusama anticipation; rain (it is also the name of an excellent track); Eminem (my friend the other day was thrashing Relapse & now I really like it); waking up early every morning; that The Rum Diaries are being made into a movie!!! (I’m having an HST week, can you tell?); watching Madonna Truth Or Dare which I really love & find totally fascinating, she is incredible (& if you want to get the gist of it, read this — Warren Beatty: [after Madonna declines to talk to her doctor off-camera] “She doesn’t want to live off-camera, much less talk. There’s nothing to say off-camera. Why would you say something if it’s off-camera? What point is there existing?”); planning hotel rooms + lingerie + cameras, YAY, & finally, this quote from Paris Hilton… It makes me laugh, I just love the way she puts it!

“The only rule is don’t be boring & dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in.” – Paris Hilton

Oh & in other news I really do think there should be more musical interludes, sing-a-longs & choreographed routines in everyday life. Don’t you agree?!

Love & love & love,

  1. Well, musical interludes, sing-a-longs & choreographed routines certainly happen in my life, but more is always better!

    List:

I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.

I live in the country and it’s AWESOME. (I lived in the city for 8 years once. It’s like it never happened.)

Getting my makeup done by the TVNZ ladies. So very relaxing.

Catching up with my Zumba friends I haven’t seen since April.

Only TWO MORE DAYS and it’s the holidays.

Wearing a dress with no tights/leggings/jeans. Springtime!

Reading my sons the books I loved when I was their age. They love it! Surprisingly, the books aren’t too girly for them.

Did I tell y’all I’m going to be on Code on 1st Oct? (I probably did.) But whooo! Very very excited!!

  2. I forgot it was Thursday!!! And I’ve had some truly gleeful events happens in the last week, so:

~ Watching Grease at a sold out Embassy theatre, with lots of people in costume, & much singing, dancing, quoting & general merriment.

~ Dancing half time at Richter City Roller Derby. The crowd was fantastic. Also, the RCRD girls had rockin’ hot costumes. Go Brutal Pageant!

    ~ Crazy random costume parties.

~ Sherilyn Fenn in Twin Peaks. So, so beautiful. Makes me want to experiment with early 90s make up. I can’t wait to hit the MAC counter.

~ Reading Lolita (finally). Nabakov had quite an outstanding vocabulary.

Honourable mentions: Chris Isaak ~ Smoothies ~ Eastbourne ~ Whippets ~ Drunkeness ~ Dancing ~ Rad new people ~

  4. Is it just me or is this week’s TiLT particularly colourful?!

    I’m also digging skype – it’s every international girl’s must-have.

This week I am in love with Craig Ferguson, buying heaps of books, revamping my entire wardrobe, Gilmore Girls re-runs, midnight walks, & finally feeling settled for the first time since I graduated uni.

  6. I totally agree that people don’t spontaneously break into song and dance enough!

This week I’m grateful for – reconnecting with old friends over drinks – family dinners – finishing Agnes Quill: an anthology of mystery (a very cool graphic novel)

And I’m totally looking forward to – finding a job – writing a screenplay – making cute charms out of clay ^^

having an idea and doing something about it….

  10. Ah, if only life was like a musical. The singing, the dancing; the glitz and the glamour. What joy! This week I’m loving my friends, finally landing on a career path (Journalism! I’m gonna be the next Rory Gilmore…sort-of), Glee (I swear, this show is my crack), planning the future with my best friend, the weather (I live in the middle of the desert, and the fact that it’s rainy and cold right now puts a smile in my face), Lea Michele and finally feeling like my life is on track again.

  17. I’m liking the psychic business and the gemstone waters and astrology business of late. Still not sure if I 100% believe in it all, but even if we only see the results that we subconsciously want to see then it’s the law of attraction working! Shazam! Even if you maintain the belief that horoscopes can be true for anyone, at least it gives you a starting point on where you can improve in life because, hey, everyone’s got an agenda. We might as well accept the biases we reflect into the things we read, right?

    My list this week is:

    o Daily yoga
    o Cooking for other people
o Reading “I Will Teach You To Be Rich” by Ramit Sethi (if I’m going to have savings put aside, I might as well have them grow faster than the inflation rate!)
o Sending long e-mails to former teachers and mentors – who doesn’t like to hear about how they touched someone’s life for the better? or how someone they knew 10 years ago is now doing really well and still thinking of them? I’ve also made it a goal to watch more old television shows and movies so I can write to the actors and actresses in them :)
o Forcing myself to create new scent associations by putting satsuma oil on my pressure points before I exercise or go to work on time
o Making Mii’s (Wii avatars)! It’s been said repeatedly that I play Mario Kart like a stereotypical old man drives, so I made an elderly man avatar for myself. My brother’s friend who has his own avatar on the system has always resembled P. Diddy (uh, to me at least), so I made a Sean Combs avatar. I CANNOT wait to have Sean Combs participating in random sports. So serious. It amuses me so hard.
o Telling people they look fabulous
o Not attracting creepy behavior!!!!!!!!!!! They look at me like they’re about to come onto me, but just end up saying “Hi. How are you doing?” Lovely.
o Seeing my friends do great things for themselves. This one takes the cake.

P.S. I’ve been wondering where the blue tones have gone in your life! Very happy you’re bringing them back, woo hoo!

  19. My Guerlain Kohl eyeliner: It takes exactly 1/2 a second to put it on, & lets me smolder all day. And it is in a beautiful package… dresser candy!

The Fainting Goats Video on Youtube? Hahaha, it’s like three years old, but I still pee myself laughing every time I watch it. And baby goats are so cute!

Writing Letters specifically to my wonderful boyfriend!

When things go well I have had five costume fittings for the show I am designing over the past three days, and there have been absolutely no disasters!

Affirmations I just started using them at Gala’s suggesting (yay L&S #5!!!), & OH MY GOD they make a difference. I also have them written down in my phone, & I remind myself how wonderful life is on a daily basis.

Alcoholic Cider Drinks It must be autumn!

  20. I think that if life was more like a musical everyone would be better off. Its very hard to pull off an agry tap dance number in the middle of a crowded room.

My brother and I have planned an “impromptu” musical number in our local shopping centers food court. If only we could find enough people willing to dance on tables (think on cars in FAME) and randomly appear from shops where we would plant them before the big event…..ahhh….so wonderful

    ......if only.

+ Lush’s Cupcake face mask. I got one free after bringing in five of their containers to be recycled, yay!

+ Living in the digital age. Seriously. I am so glad I was born when I was. I don’t know what I would do without the internet.

+ Mystery Science Theater 3000. So much love.

+ Conkers. I instantly become five years old when faced with the prospect of looking for conkers.

  39. My gorgeous wonderful gay friends. They are so FABULOUS to be around, plus they shower me with confidence and listen to my emotional shit without complaint. They dole out the emotional support like it is free candy. Plus I can talk to them about makeup, or boobs (depending on their orientation), clothes, shoes, lovers, what have you. I don’t know what I would do without them.

My new purple eyeshadow set. A colorful bright amethyst shade for the lid, a muted dark lilac for the crease, shimmery white for the browbone and sparkly black for the outer corners. It makes my eyes look big and fierce and matches perfectly with my new dark chocolate hair. Yee!

    My boyfriend. Then, now, always.

Packages that come almost every day. Can I just say the eBay is my best friend? I don’t have the money to support this habit, but I have bought so many things recently—including thigh-high American Apparel “oatmeal” colored socks, shiny wet black leggings, thigh-high black faux-suede boots, and a Marilyn Monroe wig for my Lady Gaga costume. There is so much joy in seeing that simple green package slip in my mailbox!

Anticipating an amazing weekend with friends. Sleeping over at my friend Leigh’s this Saturday night with my other biffle Liz. Partying all night, shopping all the next day. GOD I love my friends!

Dressing up every day. Which is something I literally have to do. My boarding school has a dress code—y’know, no jeans or tees with pictures or words, no short skirts, wear blazers with pants, etc. It can be done so right if you try just a little. Pencil skirts, towering oxford heels, lacy tops, and a basic pair of black tights are my absolute dress code essentials. And who says the heels have to go back in the closet once the school day is over?

Honorable mentions: curling my hair, ordering steamed pork dumplings for dinner, Netflix instant watch, Lady Gaga, getting to bundle up again, finally getting back into art, my dance class.

  43. I agree about the musical interludes, sing-a-longs, and choreographed routines. Life should be a musical. Then, even the bad stuff would have an undertone of awesomeness to it.

  44. 1) Moving to London and living in Camberwell, land of beautiful victorian houses and Carribean resteraunts

    2) The other day I was sat outside Sloane Square station and a man bought me flowers becuase he thought I had fantastic legs.

    3) Spending last night dressed like a drag king with a beehive and an anchor tattoo – waking up spooning my friend and sporting a sprained ankle from being rowdy :D

    4) Going to an art gallery a day for two weeks and being massively inspired

    5) Making lamb and apricot casserole for my boyfriend

So yeah…big props offered towards life right now! :)

  45. * Receiving Love&Sequins 5 and saving it for Monday morning to start my week of in the best way possible . * Having a really cute guy, who’s a lot younger than me ask me out.

    * Having the courage to actually give him my phone number even though it scares me.

    * Reading about an interesting play in the paper and then a few days later receiving free tickets to it!

    * Nightmare revisited playlist (yes Spotify).

    * Taking up affirmations again and noticing straight away that they have a positive effect on my life.

    * Being able to go see my darling hairdresser again after way too long absence.

    * Talking to friends that have known me my entire life, it so effortless to hang out with them even though our lifes are completely different.

    * People telling me I inspire them.

    * The way the landscape and the weather is interacting right now. Autumn is closing in and with it crisp air and really vibrant colours but there is still warmth in the sunlight.

  46. It’s been so long…..

    But here goes…

    1. I love my ass. I know it sounds a little conceited but I have a friend that doesn’t have a butt and her pants always seem to be slipping off. I always see her moon in the middle of the day when I really don’t want to.

    2. Being unemployed. I know, I know. But being home gives me a chance to realise how blessed I am to have a home and somewhere I can go to have my own space.

    That’s if for now.

Thanks GALA. You always makeme feel better.

  47. Horray for another week!

    -Good moods
I’ve been in a fabulous mood for the past 2 weeks (with the exception of 1 day) and it’s just so nice. I’m used to being in a neutral or slightly good mood… I know why I am, and it’s another thing I like…

    -Cuteboy
My Twitter nickname for the boy I like. It’s so nice to be flirty with someone and have it MEAN something! Things are just starting out and we are just getting to know each other, but he started sending me actual e-mails last week as opposed to short facebook messages. it’s honestly the highlight of my day. I feel like a silly girl for saying that, and it’s fabulous.

-“Single Ladies (put a ring on it)”
I seriously cannot get enough of this song. It’s super random because when it came out, I tried to avoid it. but it’s a blast!

    -Magical Pills
I had been looking for decent vitamins when the article you wrote popped up. I ordered them right away and though they took like 3 weeks to get here and I’m pretty sure my credit card # was stolen from the site I bought them from… They are amazing! They don’t taste like ass (or smell like it either), I’ve been taking them for about 5 days now, and my tone and texture is SO NICE! Now I just have to figure out the correct amount/kind of moisturizer thing. I’ll be set!

    -London
Just over 2 weeks now…I haven’t been thinking about it too much, but I am excited. I’m hanging out with a few friends and meeting up with some YouTube friends. Should be a good week. Also I’m looking forward to eating as much Wagamama and Pret A Manger as possible! ;)

    -Apartment Browsing
I decided last week that I’m not going to move away to London next year, I’m going to stray a little closer to home and move to NYC to go back to school for Audio Enginneering. I started looking around Craigslist for studio apartments in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and am finding all kinds of crazy places! haha Definitely something to look forward to!

  48. -My new puppy. He’s coming home on Saturday and I’m so excited. I can’t wait for cuddle time with him and puppy kisses
-Being done with a bunch of major assignments. The start of this week was crazy busy, but now everything’s relaxed
-Glee! I love this show. The acting is wonderful, the charaacters are believable, and the music is right up my alley
-Finding new music. I’ve found some new artists I like (La Roux and Of Montreal) and I’ve loved listening to them
-Good memories. I just got back some pictures from my trip to Paris this summer and it’s great to go through them and remember all the fun times I had.
-I’m seeing Helen Mirren in Phedra tomorrow. I can’t wait!

  50. Quite a busy, stressful week, but here it goes: * Spanish lessons; * New job offers (didn’t accept any, but it’s good to know that there’s a chance); * Late afternoon coffees; * Running 30 minutes straight (a new personal record!); * That tomorrow is Friday…

  51. Things I loooove this week:

    1) Joss Whedon – I’ve always loved him, but particularly this week, as I was able to attend an event he hosted. Not only is he an extremely talented writer/director, but he’s a humble and warm human being who is smart, funny, and somehow has gotten hotter as he’s gotten older! crushage!

    2) GLEE! – I’ve enjoyed this show from the beginning, but this week the show started to be ABOUT something other than just big musical numbers.

    3) Online dating – I’ve actually gotten some good leads this week! :) Yay, cute boys!

  52. Girl, I LOVE Willy Wonka! (Personally, the latest one does not measure up to the older one!)

    My TiLT:

    *Humming songs from Lion King!

*A brown lace cardigan that you can wear with practically EVERYTHING!

*Suntea. I suggest making it!!!! (It’s easy, you need to find a gallon glass jar and six teabags! You let is set out in the sun until it’s all brewed, then you take it inside, pur it into a gallon pitcher, add 3/4 cups sugar (I know, that’s a lot!), and then put it into the fridge to cool. Once that’s all done, you can drink and enjoy!!!!!!)

*Vintage beads. Especially green ones. And the toad one I found.

    *Reece’s Penut Butter Cup PUMPKIN!

  54. “Gonzo: The Life & Work of Hunter S. Thompson (this is much better than any other documentary I have seen on him — it was released in December last year & produced by Johnny Depp)”

I actually saw this last Christmas, right after I’d finished reading “Proud Highway”, “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” and “The Great Shark Hunt”. It was a decent documentary, but it left out soooo much. It traded out all of the amazing time he spent struggling to get on his feet and his travels throughout Latin America in favor of talking about his last few years (which were mightily depressing). I’d love to see a proper, three-hour documentary done on him to cover all of the gaps that appeared in the short version.

I’m looking forward to seeing “The Rum Diary” movie that’s in the works, though. I wish I had more and better words to explain why HST means so much to me, but it’s one of the few topics I fall flat on.

  61. I am also in love with mac! I had a massive splurge on an eyeshadow palette, 3 lip glosses and powder. Also Chanel mascara.

-I am also loving electro chill out music ratatat, air etc.

-Wearing indian print maxi dresses and skirts. I’ve never really been a hippy girl or worn colours and most of my teens and twenties so far have been spent in black, I feel really comfortable wearing these types of colours compared to other types.
