Sitting cross-legged on the bed in the living room, with a big bowl of guacamole, tortilla chips & an episode of Sex & The City (namely, ‘Luck Be An Old Lady’, episode 503). I swear, Carrie is the best friend I always wished I had. As long as I have SATC on DVD, I truly feel I can never really be sad.
On that note: making guacamole! It makes me feel wholesome! & it’s about as domestic as I’m ever going to get… haha!
Unconsciously engaging in weird mannerisms that are exactly what my parents do. It probably isn’t obvious to anyone but me, but I love it & find it hilarious!
Big stacks of books. I went to the library on Tuesday, in between my hair appointment & make-up course. I came away with a whole lot of pages on various subjects, including feng shui, palmistry, body language, & strangest of all, a motivational book called Do You! written by Russell Simmons! Amazing! Also, today I received Nina Garcia’s Little Black Book of Style in the mail. Thank you Michelle!
Sparkly red nailpolish! Namely “Ruby Slippers” by Essie. Having glitter on my toes makes me very happy, & the colour perfectly offsets my purple locks.
Cupcakes which never seem to go stale! Mmmm, delicious. There is nothing better than having a big stash of baked goods in your kitchen, waiting for you!
Honourable mentions: Soft t-shirts; daytime naps; salvaging old lamps; long, friendly emails; workouts that leave you satisfied & sore; food court conversations; improving my make-up skills; warm summer nights; the way my boyfriend understands me; constant encouragement; rosehip oil (I like it so far!); twirling around in my long black skirt!
“Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life & the world.” — John Milton
How can you not express gratitude after a quote like that? I hand the microphone to you, my dear nonpareils. Let your love ring from the mountain-tops!
Love letters & feather headdresses,

Hi Gala!
Thought I’d post my super duper guacamole recipe:
1 avocado. Mushed, of course.
1 tbsp plain greek yoghurt.
1/2 tbsp mayonnaise.
squeeze of lemon and lime juices.
salt + pepper.
It’s di.vine. Just that bit different to everyone else’s simple guacamole :D
Enjoy!
The following things have made my week: christmas trees, frankie magazine, cleaning sprees that start at 12pm and go until 4am, cooking with my friends, flourless chocolate cupcakes, finding the time to cut my hair for the first time in 11 months (you can see my face now!), seahorse earrings, gumdrop babies, paper boat hats, quails.
I really can’t wait for your future posts on palmistry, feng shui and body language! eeeeeee.
ahhh, rosehip oil is great! it has done wonders for my skin when all else has failed! – i really love your site, it’s refreshing to read!
Girly televion — Gossip Girl and Sex and the City. Cuddles from my lovely boyfriend. Wearing my fabulous new heels. Baking at all hours “just because”. New friendships. Planning my birthday — less than one month to go! White Russians. Job prospects. That my art assignment is almost done. Fashion inspiration from Blair Warldorf. Philosophy’s Cinnamon Bun shower gel. MAC Blacktrack Fluidline. Venti Mochas from Starbucks. The rain which will finally come tomorrow. Andy Warhol.
ELTON JOHN!!! I think I’ve included him every thursday since I bought the tickets but I finally saw him last night and it was amaaaazing.
Experiencing insane amounts of excitement and screaming like a little girl at Elton’s concert last night. I have this horrible problem where almost all my absolute favourite musicians are dead, so this was the first time I’ve ever been to a concert that I’m really passionate about.
People commenting on how my boyfriend and I are perfect for each other
summer fruits
being on holidays and having no urgency to do anything
my mum and i talking to each other on the phone about 4-5 times a day because we keep randomly thinking of things that we HAVE to tell each other!
red wine
getting a distinction in my screenprinting assignment!
I love rosehip oil too. It’s good for scar tissue as well as your face. I also use a moisturiser with rose hip oil in it – Renew Skincare Moisturising Cream – it’s so lush.
Today I am loving the ache I have in my arms from sanding back an old desk I’m restoring – it’s good to do some physical work.
I am loving the books on metaphysics I got from the library and the fact that the librarian still loves me, even though my puppy chewed up a book I borrowed.
I am loving french music, especially Emma Shaplin and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
I am loving the black apple prints – http://www.theblackapple.typepad.com/ – too adorable!
And in a minute, I’m going to be loving watching law and order, on the couch drinking white wine out of old fashioned pewter glass that I found at the op shop, looking at the asian-style genie lamp (op shop as well) and snuggling my honey.
Happy Thursday everyone! Does anyone else think this week has gone really fast? It’s nearly Christmas!

Re numma 3: All my dad’s family have the same laugh! It’s a weird sort of inhaling laugh. I didn’t realise how universal it was until a family reunion – I used to have it but I’ve lost it in the past few years.
My Thursday night bad television guilty pleasure, Ghost Whisperer. (Oh Jennifer Love Hewitt, how I love your ever-perfect hair and makeup, and the requisite bra shot! You’re a little vixen!)
Great Chinese take-away: pork spare ribs, mixed vegetables and steamed rice. And such a nice Chinese lady that does the home deliveries.
Talking to my Mumma on the phone.
The fact that my dog is coming away with us for Christmas!
Little geckos that live in my letter box.
Having the pool in my complex all to my self, and being able to float about, looking up to the sky. Reminds me of Drew Barrymore swimming the river in ‘Ever After’ (my how I love Drew.)

Ps: Do you have ne suggestions on how curvier girls can dress nicely in hot weather! (i live in perth & the weather has been very hot :P)
My loves today are:
– My electric blanket – A feather bed – All the cats climbing on the bed with me to keep warm and cozy – Working on the computer in bed – Pulling out and wearing this old sweater I bought 20 years ago. It is the perfect lounging around sweater because I don’t care what happens to it. – Making home-made oatmeal with steel cut oats, cream, brown sugar and chopped dates – Knowing my car brakes will finally be fixed today (although I don’t like spending the cash!) – Stella perfume – Warming up my towels on the radiator so I have a hot towel when I get out of the shower. – Kiehls Creme de Corps lotion – Doing a massive purge and reorganization and then putting everything left back in a new home. Plus selling all the unwanted items in a garage sale. I feel lighter already. Now I’m off to the auto shop for those brakes!

Finishing all my tests. That means: 1.VACATIONS, and 2.NO MORE FREAKING SOCIOLOGY!! :D!!!!!!!!!! Now I have more than 3 months of vacations till I start my new career, laws!
I couldn’t be happier :)
I’m finally going to do this since my friends have been so negative this week and its starting to rub off on me, yuck.
-My dog always coming down to greet me no matter how late I get in and how tired she is. What a sweetie. (Although she did ditch me quickly last night after she greeted me because I was eating and didn’t give her anything and she was pissed! Haha)
-Eddie Izzard. There is an Eddie Izzard quote for pretty much anything that happens in life. At least my best friend and I think so.
-Free samples at work. Totally worth the b.s. of being a barista.
-The mesmerizing nature of the artwork in Sleeping Beauty. Those backgrounds make me drooool. And I usually don’t care much for landscape art.
-Free vodka martinis.
—Actually, pretty much anything free, I am so totally for.
-BANANAS. They’re funny and delicious at the same time!
-My mother’s borderline unhealthy obsession with all things snowmen related. The house looks like a christmas store, fake snow and all, and its hilarious. She’s so funny.
-Nice warm blankets. Mmmm.
I do feel better now…
Good on you for the guacamole!! Since I’m Mexican I’m supposed to be genetically inclined to like guacamole but I can’t stand avocado. My mum and grandmother and so on are great guacamole makers but their recipe is really hot and spicy, so unless you have an iron stomach you’re bound to get sick.
Anyways, what I love today…
Doing almost perfect exams It makes me feel really great that all my hard work paid off while studying a subject that I’m almost failing.
Not having college today though I have to study for Calculus u_u.
That my dog is getting better My not-so-little puppy, Maximus, had to have a bump taken off his paw and he had been all sad and depressed the whole week. Yesterday he started playing again and doing mischief even though he has a cone on his head n_n.
ANTM SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
I haven’t seen the new episode (not in YouTube yet) but I can’t wait to see how Heather gets eliminated!!.
Having cable again!! And being able to watch Project Runway, Gossip Girl, old ANTM cycles and The Tudors!!
Kisses!

Things I love: my parents!
They have decided that as a family event, we should all go see Social Distortion and the Sounds in December! Rock ‘n’ roll is the best way to really get into the holiday spirit :D
I also love the fact that the Broadway stage-hand strike is OVER!
Things falling into place after moving to a new town! Have found a great job (after quitting one that made me MISERABLE to the extreme – I lasted a week there), will have my own bedroom in two days in an apartment, I now have a season pass and I’m starting to make new friends! Things are starting to feel sorted!
And things I love Thursday – it makes me focus on all the happy things going on!
Haha, my parents have 2 holiday chalets in Great Yarmouth. It’s about as classic sea-side as you can get.
Well, if you ever fancy a cheap UK holiday ;)
xxxx
Things I love Thursday:
Un. Well-roasted coffee that tastes good even after it’s gone cold from the winter air.
Deux. Fashioning a beautiful-looking newspaper, and then receiving your cheque including ALL the overtime pay that was necessary to create it.
Trois. Looking at your new website and realizing “I don’t need to code – ANY MORE.”
Quatre. Seeing a new post on galadarling.com ;)
Cinq. Spending 6+ hours a day at a bookstore with neverending croissants and bubble tea!
Six. Big, fluffy, ugly scarves in the wintertime, when paired with extra-chic mgarments!
Sept. Looking at things online, and finding the perfect “OMG, that’d be PERFECT for _____” and having the funds to gift it!
Oh, Thursday, I love you!
xoxo.
Snakes (beautiful!).
Vege gardens.
Subtle-yet-effective eyeliner.
Red shoes.
Dresses.
Summer.
Landscape photography.
Being productive.
Catching up with my best girl in a marathon phone call.
Xmas decorations.
Please please do a review of Nina Garcia’s book, I really want to find out what it’s like before spending on it.
Things I love…
Realising that my currently crazy schedule disappears after Christmas! Yay, time!
Swimming, I dragged myself to the pool yesterday and felt so good, so I am determined to make more time for it.
My new phone, long overdue, since my last one kept switching off when people called it. And it’s red and pretty!!!
Ah I want guacamole now. Also, this has amazingly perfect timing because I’m having a relatively shitty week and I need to think about this sort of thing. It’ll help.
So, things I love despite my shitty week…
-Being a Big with Big Brother Big Sister. Best volunteer work EVER.
-Planning my vacation to London with one of my best friends. We reserved our tickets this week, for the week we get off of school in February, and it’ll be the first time either of us has been able to make our own vacation plans.
-Tap, because I’m getting more and more excited for it.
-Auditioning for The Vagina Monologues, which went SO WELL and I can’t wait to hear about call backs (should be soon!)
-Feeling good about my body. Got back from conditioning for Ultimate Frisbee the other night and realized that I have never been in better shape in my life.
-Frisbee banquet in just over a week!
-That A on my English paper.
-My friends, who are willing to listen to me cry about things at like, midnight, when they’re about to go to bed.
I’m thankful that I wasn’t involved in the stabbing at my school today and that the people that I was stuck with in lock-down for an hour are pretty awesome.
And I’m thankful that the most dreadful things are over this week (an essay and a physics test! D:)
Aaand I’m thankful that I’m just plain old happy this week (for no specific reason) and nothing has been getting me down!
の ALMOST having finished all my uni application stuff – finally! it has been incredibly panic-inducing
の Deciding to update my blog (with something pretty insignifigant but oh so important to me) rather than deleting it because “I’ve failed”
の MY CAT! I ♡ Pussen more than aaaaaaaaanything!
OH AND
の I love this dream I had the other night, I was in a band with some cool chicks and we were playing a gig but completely making things up as we went along and it was great & later I was in a Chinese supermarket and this lovely shop boy was showing me the crab tank and I was terrified but he said it was fine (and I trusted him and actually looked at the crab tank without running in terror) & later I was in the most AMAZING second hand shop which was absolutely adorable. Random! I was happy all day.
i’m soo tired, and yet there’s so much to look forward to! i think the holidays are one of the best times to be grateful, especially when there is so much stress and you end up forgetting what’s important.
anywayy, here the things i love this thursday:
heroes, my new TV addiction – gossip girl (of course) :) – peppermint tea – menorahs and christmas trees! i love celebrating both holidays – looking forward to winter break: ski trip, no classes or homework, and hopefully lots of holiday parties! – shopping for christmas gifts for my friends and making mix cds – the fact that i’m going out tonight after a looong week filled with tests and homework – juicy red apples – SATC marathons! gala you reminded me of just how wonderful carrie + the girls are when i need to be cheered up :) – overheardinnewyork.com: hilarious! – yoga tonight! – bookstores – the sound of sleigh bells – calls from my mom and friends
have a lovely weekend!!
* Cold and flu tablets
* My delicious man
* My brand new 1950s style red polka dot swimmers that I bought online and they look awesome
* Having a fun (but stupidly busy) weekend planned
* Having beers with my cast mates after my show
* My new red heart shaped sunglasses
* Natural yogurt with honey
I love:
*The fact that the semester is almost over. College Algebra is the bane of my existence.
*Getting vinyl records in the mail from Ebay. I’ve been buying ‘em up like crazy lately, seeing as there is no decent record shop here in Jax anymore. It’s like Christmas almost everyday!
*Patti Smith’s “Horses” album. I got the record in the mail yesterday and have probably listened to it 10 times since. Sounds a lot richer on vinyl and the song, “Free Money” rocks my socks off. Love her.
*Last, but not the least, the way the Christmas tree lights up the darkness of our living room. Looking at it makes my Scrooge-self actually happy the holidays are here, once again, and that I am here to enjoy them :)
- i also love Eddie Izzard – I love the looks my sister and I get because we get along so well. I love being like ‘that’s right, we’re good friends, jealous?’ – i love meeting her every morning for coffee, and I love coffee
-I love waking up before the sunrise and looking over to my husband, and even though it’s still too dark to really see, realizing that he is awake too, and smiling at me. – I love to shake puppies. Not hard, but enough…. – I love that I have become addicted to commenting on here. And i think it might be helping my fshion sense. – And I love that I went to a semminar and the very sucessful respected and beautiful woman speaker wasn’t trying to cover her tattoo.
charles lu’s fashion designs

*YOGA. i’m so happy i’m doing this again!
*my boss! she’s awesome & understanding.

*my bike! I named him Thundercleese, after the robot off cartoon Brak. Which I also love.
*EFT. It has helped me SO much in the past few weeks, it’s absolutely brilliant & I wish everyone with issues (all of us!?) would give it a good go and see for themselves!

I love hot glue guns
This week I am appreciating the fact that you talk about Sex and the City a lot, because if you didn’t, I probably wouldn’t have gotten curious and started watching it and fallen in love. Miranda reminds me of myself in many uncanny ways.
This week I also loooooove…my friend April who brings me dinner when I have to work evenings, and the Dresden Dolls, and Spaghettios, and my mommy who saves my ass, and the perfect perfect weather, and woolly socks.
The weather is cold, snowy and windy this week but some things really helped me get through it:

kisses
My favorite day of the week! ^^ What I’m loving right now:
~ Baroque-era Christmas music.
~ Sweaters with brightly colored stripes on a neutral base. I saw a boy wearing a black sweater with bright purple, pink, and green stripes; it was amazing!
~ Doctor Who! And learning that Rose is coming back for season 4. Absolutely made my week.
~ Peering out the window in the morning to find that the walkway is covered in snow. Best feeling ever.
~ Beds with lots of pretty and mismatched blankets… so cozy for winter.
~ Pumpkin spice muffins with sugar icing.
~ Dragonheart! It was absolutely my favorite movie when I was in 5th grade, and I’ve just recently rediscovered its wonders. ^^
~ My creative writing workshop class. The people in it are so interesting and fun, and the hour-and-a-half just zooms by. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had in a class; I can’t get over it.

Things I love.. (and okay, its Friday, so I’m cheating slightly, but here goes!)
Making huge, pretty collages and plastering them all over my bedroom walls! Pictures of fashion, inspirational quotes – I love them. Such a fun thing to do when you’re feeling arty or when its raining and you need something to do. I feel happy whenever I look at them. :)
Being positive and remembering that anything is possible if you visualize and believe it! We all feel sad, which is 100 % normal, but feeling joy and being happy are so important and should be a priority!
Pizza. Always my favourite mood, but me and pizza are seriously having a moment this week! Namely Tandoori Chicken pizza with yoghurt and cucumer.. yuuuum!
My new Vita bangle from E-bay. Love it!
Watching ‘The Hills’ episdoes from MTV.com. So silly and so hard-to-believe but so much fun to watch when you need something light and fluffy!
:)
I’m totally with you about the Carrie-obsession and the love of books!!
Things I love Friday:
