Things I Love Thursday
1. marshmallow chimney, 2. little messy door

<3 The “No Complaints” experiment — I wrote about this a little while ago, & Simon & I decided to give it a try. The aim is to go 21 days without complaining (though you’re allowed to complain if you then follow up with a solution of some kind). We ordered some wristbands from Mike Dooley that say Thoughts Become Things… Choose The Good Ones!, & they arrived on Monday, so we’ve been monitoring ourselves & swapping the bracelet to the other wrist whenever we hear ourselves having a moan. It’s really interesting — the first couple of days I was a bit complain-tastic, but since then I feel like I’m mellowing out, & I’m really looking forward to how it changes me over the coming 20 or so days! If you’re keen to try it out, grab a bracelet of some description, & start!

<3 iCiNG Transformation Challenge prep! — I can’t waaaait for the challenge to start on Monday! I went to the library the other day & got out a whole lot of books on being your own personal trainer, as well as exercise & health tips, so I’m hoping to be able to pass on some of what I glean to you guys! Mostly I’m excited to see how good I feel when I start making an effort. I know it’s going to blow my mind!

<3 Exercise dreamin’ — It’s like California Dreamin’, except with less flowers in the hair! I’ve been investigating various things I can do to keep exercise interesting & fun. I wanted to do a trapeze or contortion class, but unfortunately they’re all full up. On the plus side, I have aerials, butoh, yoga & one of those weird inflatable ball things, as well as access to a gym & a whole lot of exercise DVDs… so I think it will keep me on my toes!

Things I Love Thursday
1. macarons, 2. wreck this journal

<3 Bad television! — YES! I LOVE bad television! There is so much of it on the way. For example, Gossip Girl starts up again the 21st of April (otherwise known as Monday, the day the iTC starts — talk about a reward!), while A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila (yes, apparently Bobby wasn’t the man for her, so she’s back!) airs on the 22nd of April (Tuesday). So happy! Couple this with the fact that The Hills is back, & you have a very happy camper. Oh, & if that wasn’t quite enough for you, Australia’s Next Top Model hits our screens on the 22nd, too. Wooooooooooooooo!

<3 Freedom — We are all free to be whoever we want. If you want to be a walking contradiction, a whirlwind, a mind-bending Sphinx-like riddle, someone who is happy with themselves & doesn’t answer to anyone else, you can be! Let criticism roll off your back. Embrace your individuality. No one is stopping you but yourself.

<3 Having lots to do — I don’t like being busy for the sake of it, since I think that usually happens because we’re fearful of being alone or feeling like we have no direction. But I love having lots of projects on the go, piles of juicy stimulation & exciting people to work with, a head full of ideas & starry-eyed vision. I have so much to do today but I am totally amped about ALL of it! Bliss!

Things I Love Thursday
1. untitled, 2. weightless

<3 Treehouses — I just like ‘em. I have a vision of an apartment in New York with a rooftop garden, lush & verdant, & a treehouse in the corner… it will require a secret password for access. It’s going to be good.

<3 Honourable mentions: Enormous bowls of guacamole; The O.C. (oh, trust me, I know... I’m only five years too late, haha); birthday drinks that come with cupcakes; my new dachshund Love On A Leash purse (I took the strap off, it lives on the bed at the moment, & is excellent for snuggling while we watch movies); my charm bracelet; make-up experiments in the afternoon; ruby red grapefruit for breakfast; sweet-talking our ISP into upgrading our account for free (it pays to be charming!); Tycho’s ‘Past Is Prologue’ album (you can listen to it here); Cut Copy’s ‘In Ghost Colours’ album; Lindt dark chocolate (I bought some as a gift yesterday but I have snuck a couple), & of course, Simon in his stripey pyjamas.

“There is no time for cut-&-dried monotony. There is time for work. & time for love. That leaves no other time!” — Coco Chanel

What’s rocking your socks, pushing your buttons & grinding your pepper today?! Tell us, share the good stuff! Make a huge list that reaches to the sky. Get your best friend to make a list too, call your dad to ask him what he’s happy about today, surprise someone with a kiss & ask them what makes them so wonderful! & don’t forget to grab a badge & slap it up somewhere!

Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala <3

  1. Hey! It’s my badge! :D

Style Statement: Live by Your Own Design
I received (& finished!) the book Style Statement: Live by Your Own Design by Carrie McCarthy & Danielle LaPorte this week. It was such an interesting & inspiring read! I really enjoyed the numerous profiles on individuals who had defined their style statement & what their statement said about them. There are LOADS of questions in the book to help you define your own style statement (alternatively you can have a one-on-one phone session with one of the authors for a mere US$2000!) centred around the authors’ Lifestyle Map, so I’m still working through them in the hope of finding a statement that’s uniquely me. Although I enjoyed reading this one, I guess the real test is whether I can use the book to define my own style statement and then apply it to every aspect of my life to make positive changes. Watch this space!

    Eley Kishimoto
I recently lost my favourite pair of knee-high leather boots by Eley Kishimoto to the wear & tear that comes with wearing them constantly for several years. Although I absolutely adored my boots, I wasn’t at all familiar with their clothing line until I went to their website this week to have a peek at their Spring/Summer 2008 collection. The verdict? Cuuuuuuuuuuuuute! Here’s a few of my faves from the collection:

    Runaway Now
I’ve been busying myself this week with planning my trip to New York in September & one of my first stops was Runaway Now (http://www.runawaynow.com/). Runaway Now is travel-based website offering the best travel tips from opinion-leaders and trend-setters worldwide. Regular contributors include New Zealand fashion designer Karen Walker & well known fashion editor Marion Hume, & recent guest contributors have included supermodel Shalom Harlow & Sir Richard Branson. Here are some of my favourite New York articles:

    Anna Wallis
I’ve been thinking about treating myself to a gorgeous new contemporary ring for a while & I’m really loving the work of New Zealand jewellery designer Anna Wallis so I’d quite like to be the proud owner of one of these in the near future (I think I like the gold one best!).

    Honorary mentions
being excited about the upcoming iCiNG Transformation Challenge, raw snacks (especially baby carrots & cherry red tomatoes), planning my first half sleeve, taking my wee dog for a walk around Mount Victoria when it’s dark with my favourite music in my headphones, & having an super exciting day planned for Saturday (booked in for a one hour Balinese Massage & one hour Balinese Natural Facial on Saturday morning at East Day Spa & then going to see Arj Barker (aka “Dave” from Flight of the Conchords) at San Francisco Bathhouse on Saturday night).

  3. That bracelet thing is SUCH a good idea.
And while it isn’t Thursday here (yet), this is my quick list:

    - Listing creative ideas and knowing that I can fulfill them. Part of my problem in the past was not believing that I could accomplish the things that I want to do, but I’m getting over that and it’s an amazing feeling. – Having shopping buddies! It’s so much fun to shop with people that have smaller feet than me because I can see them wear all of the adorable shoes that my giant feet can’t fit in to. So jealous, but it’s great fun. – DDR – That’s right, Dance Dance Revolution, it’s my new cardio workout and it’s amazing. – Cuddling on the couch.

    <3 Jami · Apr 16, 08:34 PM · #
  4. Boxercise – I had my first class yesterday and I LOVED IT! It’s going to be the cornerstone of my personal Transformation Challenge.

Lush – I won a big box of Retro Lush products! Yay for Lush and Yay for freebies!

Gossip Girl – Hopelessly Addicted. And hopelessly in love with the totally unsuitable Chuck Bass (the full name is required) I now need the books….

The Prodigy – I managed to score tickets to a super secret intimate little show they’re playing in a warehouse a few miles away!!! Is this my lucky week or what?!

My pretty new dress – It’s very prim and demure, but sheer. And it comes with a slip! Not enough clothes have a slip these days! Now I just need the weather to dry up…...

  5. hmm..
getting a gorgeous soft turquoise beanie for $5, and a baggy grey hoodie with ‘with love from tokyo supertokyo since 1988’ on it for $5!!
thinking about a ‘prose before hoes’ t-shirt and finding one at the markets!
    bright pink nails
watching anime for the first time last night :)
    my sun-warmed room!!
my parents planning their first ever big-deal anniversary shindig, and boy oh boy is it going to be big, for us anyway, i’m so excited about it all!!
my little brother doing well in his exams and being totally unstressed and into his work because he wants to do well for himself, not anybody else :)

  6. Butoh is exercise now? It started as a dance in Japan that expresses the horror of the Atomic bomb dropping on hiroshima, + usually includes some kind of silent scream. Yikes. Odd that they didn’t include that information on Wikipedia.
Sorry to be such a killjoy…

  7. Parcels
Was woken up this morning by the parcel man delivering birthday presents from my family in Sydney. Woohoo! It’s so tempting to open them now. Maybe just one…..
But I did open the box and my mum had stuck other stuff in there too, including sweet birthday candles and money to get a birthday cake. (I was going to make an icecream cake anyway, but using candles on your own cake is a bit silly. I will however, stick them to my computer (and not light them obviously) because they’re so pretty.)
Also inside, for eating cake off, was the YELLOW PLATE! A little yellow plastic plate that me and my siblings would fight over every single lunchtime/dinnertime that required the use of little plates for as long as I can remember.
Of course now I’ve got it, they’re never getting it back. Mwhahaha!

    Sales
There is 50% off everything at Riot art in Northland and I picked up a stack of felt and thread, Fabric fixative, a thick sketchbook and some SUPER SCULPY!, all for about $30. Exciting.

    Holiday weekend
I went to the Gold Coast with three of my friends to surprise another friend who was performing in Circus Oz up there. We had the stupidest weekend. Lots of beer, lots of bad tv (We watched Miami Ink and all wanted tattoos by the end. We also watched some dodgy show which was basically topless/nude women in festivals around the world. We kept shouting boobs and minge at the tv…. and then just randomly in the street for the rest of the weekend)
We also went to Timezone and played games and won lots of plastic crap – and also got very little sleep. Too much fun to be had!

    Transformation challenge
I also do aerials classes but I’ve had the past few weeks off cause I was on crutches for a recurring knee injury. I’ll be back next week, but taking it easy.
I’m thinking of starting up hula hooping/circus in the park too. (Any Melbourne nonpareils that want to join me – shoot me an email!)

  8. Hummmm.

    This week I love:

Lord of the Rings – Ok…So I used to be the biggest LOTR geek back when I was 14/15 years old. And over the last three days I have had myself a little bit of a LOTR marathon. I watched all my extended editions and reminisced a little.

Fudge! – I made two massive batches of chocolate fudge, and Russian fudge this week. Then I cut them all up and delivered them to my friends and boyfriend =]

Lip Magazine – It’s independent, Australian and just better than Cosmo! I just ordered a whole lot of back issues for my best friends birthday. lipmag.com/

My Pandora – I love how they are all unique. Great conversation starters when you see someone wearing one! I’m hoping to get a new charm form my boyfriend for our 2 year anniversary! I’ve been hinting for ages heh heh. www.pandora

Browsing online shops – But I dearly wish that more of them were Australian. Gala, do you know of any good Aussie shops for cute things online? I’m currently hoping to buy Chip Chops ‘Oui Oui’ t shirt.
    www.chipchop.com.au/index.php?...
    It’s awesome!

  9. Oh and I forgot – I also love trying to figure out what I’m going to do for the transformation challenge!
I can’t just say ‘be healthier’. I need a definite and more specific goal. I just don’t know what yet.

  10. Wooo Happy Thursday Everyone! Things I love this week are:

The iCiNG Transformation Challenge Of course! I am so excited for Monday! My bike arrives on Sunday so I will be riding to work from then on. I will make a batch of soup to take to work for healthy lunches also. So exciting!

Looking for recipes I love looking for recipes on sites like ninemsn and taste.com.au. Although it is so hard living in Japan sometimes to find all the ingredients. I am printing them all off now and making a cute little folder full of healthy recipes.

Stick on jewels and glitter These are everywhere in Japan because every Japanese girls’ mobile phone is a treasure box. I have some collected up to stick on my bike. I’ma be ridin in style!

Speaking to my mummy I had neglected her for three weeks and spoke to her last night. It was a really good chat. I am going to send her some flowers for mothers day and a nice card.

America’s Next Top Model ok… I am addicted. Point me to the nearest ANTMaholics anonymous! I love it! I watch it all day at work. Watching cycle 10 first and I love Claire and Whitney! And Marvita!

Honourable Mentions Print club (again and always!), Frosties, prospects, boyfriends new car, boyfriend, the name Whitney, still getting friend requests from fellow iCiNG lovers, my orchid, having my camera charger back, getting back on track with my Japanese study and how the weather is getting warmer!

  11. Hi everyone!

    I’m loving…

    – Making frosting tonight for a cake that I’ll be making to auction off. The proceeds will benefit a Komen breast cancer fundraiser

    - I have a trip to NYC to look forward to at the end of May. I’m going for work and just made the travel arrangements. I got to add on a few days of fun for me!

    - Our backyard movies are starting on Saturday. We invite 70+ people to come watch movies in our big backyard. We have an inflatable screen and we all sit around on lawn chairs and eat popcorn. We’re starting with Shrek. I hope it doesn’t rain!

    – Surprises! My husband surprised me with a super extravagant gift – limited edition Louboutins! He knew I was dying for them and got them for me. shoedaydreams.blogspot.com/200…

    Whoo Hoo!

    – Bridal Showers. I can’t wait to go to my friend’s bridal shower on Saturday. I have to go get her a gift asap! – Afternoon Teas with a bunch of ladies. I have another tea party coming up the first weekend in May. It’s great to just sit down and spend time with these women, some of whom I haven’t even met yet.

    Happy Thursday!

  12. I did a Butoh workshop for a week.
The most intensely intense experience ever!
By the end of the first night most of us were bawling our eyes out.
One day I will do it again.

  13. Joanne — Yum, Chuck Bass! (& I agree, it’s all about the full name!)

Beth — I know what butoh is :> I’m not taking a butoh class in a gym or anything horrific like that, just going to regular butoh classes. I’ve danced a lot of it before, just never in Melbourne. & it’s physical, & it’s dance, so it counts as exercise, surely!

zombella/stefania — Yeah, it is pretty amazing. A few years ago I did a weekend workshop that nearly killed me! When I went back to work on Monday I had to walk up the stairs sideways like a crab because I was in so much pain o_O !

  15. Hey Felicity, I know Anna Wallis. :)

    Buttering my crumpet today:

Eyeshadow – I’m addicted to those two precious minutes of shading and contouring each morning. It’s goood!

Gala, your sweet ‘mega-love’ comment on the ‘Integrity’ post: kiss!

Short red dress over super-faded jeans with red shoes. Yep.

My new $40 Trelise Cooper skirt. It is Deliciously Huge. More than a full circle. I can do the best spins and curtseys in it! (Krumping to Eminem not so much.)

I’m extra-conscious of how lucky I am to have all my gorgeous family present&correct and living in my house with me, after the terrible school-camp losses this week.

I went to Hamilton for the hot air balloons and saw my rellies. It was deeply soothing.

My cuz Leanne has the most amazingly gorgeous home loaded to the gills with op-shop treasures. She has phenomenal taste!

One more day till the holidays!

A bit of ‘heyday’ music to get me going in the morning: D:Ream, Jesus Jones, Escape Club – time travel directly back to 1989-1991.

My parents’ blog – they are campervanning around the South Island doing casual work here and there. Lots of awesome photos straight out of LOTR.

    1. being home alone on a sick day, eating tim tams and honey toast

  19. Pilates – OK, so it’s Winsor Pilates and probably not that hardcore, but it’s helping my posture and making me feel good (recommendations on better at-home pilates sytems gleefully taken)

Smiley phone calls from the deployed boy

    Settled-in parrots

I have a definite ‘boo’ though – the lack of stylish pvc raincoats in either bright colours or clear-with-cute-pattern. Anything I can find is in the US or the UK and the shipping to NZ is horrendous! If I can get a pvc shower curtain with rubber duckies on it , why can’t I get a raincoat? pouts

A perfect grade on a quiz

    Looking ahead
I’m making plans to go shopping this weekend with two friends. I haven’t truly been shopping in ages!

Starting New Things, especially when the old ones have become bothersome

Being happy for no reason at all!

    FOOD

watching TV shows from the 90’s, and downloading their theme music

-The fact that I get to work the next two mornings (instead of nights) and will have the evenings to do other things for two whole days.

    -vegan donuts.

    -Spring veggies!!!

  24. funny, lindt dark chocolate made my list too – i’m eating some 85% cocoa as i type… it is THE BOMB.

this week, i am also very fond of those russian furry hats (i recently started wearing one because of a hair disaster that won’t be making my list), runny noses on small children – i don’t have any so i find it adorable from a distance!...

oh yeah, and i started my own lil transformation challenge a little bit before you posted your first announcement, but i only got around to running on sunday. and i only ran, um, half a mile on the outside. and then i got so overwhelmed with things that i didn’t start running again. but somehow, even for those MAYBE 10 minutes that i was running, i got spotted by no less than five people who have decided to come forth and either inform me about how well i run or attempt to recruit me for the cross country team via my running mate…. how’s that for a motivation booster!!

i am also really excited this week for VEGAN COOKING. i’ve been vegan in the past, but mostly raw vegan, which doesn’t involve a whole lot of cooking if you’re me. i recently went vegan again, though only around 50% raw this time, and i’ve been ENTHRALLED with looking up recipes for the food i want to eat. i’m so excited that i’m even having a vegan picnic in two weeks! we’re going to eat scallion pancakes and various sundry tofu dishes and calzones and sandwiches and fruit…

  26. Being productive It just feels SO good to get things done!

Long walks It was sunny and beautiful today, and I took a long, delicious walk and just relaxed/explored. Feeling that amazing spring air and thinking quietly to myself = divine.

    Spring weather See above.

Eating healthily I’ve been working on my diet, and am happy to say that a semi-regular diet of spinach/fruit/bee pollen smoothies for breakfast, salads with all kinds of delicious extras and homemade dressing, and some sort of veggie stir fry or fish for dinner makes me feel amazing.

Art I’m taking an art class for the first time in ages (Color Theory & Design, actually), and I am enjoying myself immensely. I lose myself in drawing or cutting/pasting for an hour and come out of it brimming with inspiration and good cheer.

Complimenting myself It sounds silly and vain, but lately I’ve been telling myself how fabulous, beautiful, confident, intelligent, etc. I am before I leave the house. I’ve decided positive energy is something I should work on, and it gives me a confidence boost.

TiLT I actually haven’t participated in this in a while, and I had forgotten what a mood-booster it is!

  27. I’ve been secretly keeping a list inside my brain all week, to cheer myself out of extreme project exaustion!

Spring shopping I think that after this week, I’ll be going to do some serious, list (and lust) filled shopping, for everything I may possibly need for spring/summer and anything in between. It’s exciting! :D

Hanging out with uber positive people I’ve been trying to hang about nice people now, and so far, it’s increased my happiness by like, 4000%! Woo hoo!

Graduation Ooh, so far, yet so close!

Sex and the City Movie I can’t WAIT to go see it in May, and am planning an special day with my friends. We’ll all get dressed up (inspired by our favorite SATC gal- we’re 4 girls, so it works), sneak cupcakes in the movie theater, and drink cosmos in the cinema! It’s going to be amazing!

Smoothies I’ve only started to get daring with them, and love the new peanut-butter-banana-chocolate-hazelnut one I take to school with me. Everyone I pass by is like, “WHAT is THAT?” and even the teachers and admins want me to bring in samples. Tee hee!

Have a great week everyone. I’m going back to work on a WWII project until 5AM tomorrow…! ;D

  29. ♥ Having a huuuuge list of dramas and movies (okay, so there’s only one movie on here, but…) to look forward to! And they’re all in another language, which I love as it makes me really pay attention to what the characters are saying, so that I can match the words to the subtitles and learn a thing or two. Thank god spring break is nearly here. ;D

♥ Karaoke plans for next week, alkfdljl! I’ve gone a few times before, but this is the first time I’ll be going on a truly HUGE group of people (I’m thinking 15-30, yay!) and I can’t wait to have one of those crazy parties you always envision when thinking of people who go karaoke-ing.

♥ Practicing guitar for what feels like the first time in AGESSSS. I haven’t had much time to practice lately, and afterwards my fingers hurt a lot, but it was a good pain. :D

♥ Awesomely weird cravings. Last night I had the weirdest craving for pizza, which is weird because I hardly ever eat it (despite living in NYC). Now I just really want a bite of green tea mochi ice cream. Weeeeird. Also, eating good food (some of my favorites this week: strawberry milkshakes, Monterey Jack cheese with yummy Korean bread, ice cream sandwiches, corn dogs, chocolate milk, udon, California rolls). My friends and I have this super-secret bet thing going, and whoever wins gets treated to the meal of their choice, so now I want to go get some Korean bbq. xD

    ♥ Making lists.

♥ Crystals. I’m trying to research which ones would suit me the most, but it’s hard because they all sound so great! And pretty.

♥ Hiro (my hamster) grooming himself while on my lap/hand/bed. I read that it means they’re comfortable being with you, so…! And Taisuke, because he is just cute.

♥ Being inspired by the new issue of NYLON magazine, which just so happens to have Blair, my favorite Gossip Girl character ever, on the cover. “Luke, I am your father,” haha!

    - Things in bloom! The tangerine tree is blooming and it smells heavenly.

    - The Transformation Challenge! I ordered a hoop from HoopGirl.com, so I will be giving that a try — it’ll take a while, but I’m looking forward to going outside and hooping if I’m not at the gym. It should be a lot of fun — my hoop will be purple and blue striped!

    - Business cards (and supporting local business)! I stopped in at my local printshop on the way home from work to get some business cards made up; since I already had my logo and just needed to write up/format the text, it took about fifteen minutes and I will have cards on Friday! Wooo!

    * My man. He is splendid.

    * The big arse bag of chai latte mix I bought.

    * Making a ‘health’ bracelet for my friend’s friend who has a tumour. It’s of full healing stones and is really really pretty. Let’s hope it works!

    * Ghost Whisperer is on tonight. And I can also watch Grey’s Anatomy on DVD...

    * My new red vinyl dress which isn’t as gross as it sounds!

  35. Being off school – it gives me so much more freedom and I just love it! I don’t mind school, but I hate having a set routine. I like to be able to spend the day productively doing whatever I want, whenever I want. When I say that I don’t mean watching TV when I feel like it then going and walking the dog a bit later, I mean doing all that needs doing, but having time to do it whilst dancing to music, or whilst talking on the phone, and not having to rush through it so I finish it between school and sleep time.

Cycling every day – it’s sooo exhausting, and when I’m cycling my head is just going ‘I’mgonnadieI’mgonnadie’ and because I live at the top of the hill the last stretch is the worst, but I’m being able to see the improvement as I keep cycling, and my time has gone down by three minutes now ^^.

Sunglasses – I really like sunglasses right now. I could never find a decent pair until recently, and I wear them any excuse I can find now!

Bill Baileys Stand Up Comedy – The man is a genius.

  37. What do I love this Thursday? I love that I have a pretty big list this week, to start!!

Being on the cover of my local newspaper!! Lush has started a new campaign, and my store got interviewed by our paper, AND I got my picture in, which I was mega excited about, as it is my first official time in the paper. Plus, I am excited to see how well the campaign does in eliminating plastic bag use!

Nervousness becoming excitement… and hopefully, staying that way. Anxiously awaiting acceptance to university is bad enough, but then knowing I have to make a decision to move away from home or not… ACK! But thankfully, it is becoming more nervous excitement that actual fear :S

A new old camera that my dad gave me, a Mamiya, is good to go! I took it for a little tune up, finally, and finished my first roll today. Luckily we have a one hour photo close by, and I got to see the first set. I love getting pictures developed and having that little surprise!

Friends! I just spent a few hours with a friend who is busy with uni exams, and it was nice for her to just relax, and us to chill out and gab away like we used to before big, busy life caught up with us.

Summertime, and dresses that are cheap. The above mentioned friend ordered a dress online that didn’t fit, so I bought it off her dead cheap… it is yellow cotton with a big bow, and I love it.

Delicious pizza with broccoli, and onions, and green pepper, and cheesiness, and excellent crust that I just ate three huge slices of, then topped off with a buttery, apple, icing covered cinnamon bun. Oh food, how I love thee.

So YAY for a long list of TiLT
    xox

  38. happy thursday everyone!

i love treehouses too, Blake tells me when we have our own house we’ll have a slide next to the stairs, & a stylish awesome treehouse with a clear roof so we can lie & look at the stars together :)

today I love * magazines* (so much inspiration) even though i feel bad for buying print that’s not recycled!

icing treats the bag is huge, fits everything i need in it & the top is super sexy. can’t wait to see the next thing!

sark i bought a couple of her books off Amazon & they came in the mail yesterday (so much more exciting than getting them from a shop i think!) & I am already inspired to live more succulently!!!!

Body Drama you mentioned this book a while ago Gala, and even though it’s probably a bit ‘young’ for me, it is still jam packed full of useful information & real beautiful natural girls! I can’t wait to lend it to any woman who needs it. I only wish this had been given to me when I was younger, it would have saved me so much body issue problems.
It’s also the first time I’ve had proper access to anything to show me how to self breast-exam! Isn’t that terrible!?? This sort of thing should be taught in sex-ed.

dressing up i’m going to a Safari party on Saturday, and i’m going as a Toucan bird… fun fun! I’m off to the material shop to get stuff for my costume now :)

Curvy – drool. I’m going to the Melbourne Curvy art exhibition opening tonight, with my awesome friend Mary… I can’t wait!

the internet i’ve decided to cave in & just BUDGET so I can afford the internet at my house, I spend enough at the net cafe anyway

my Oma (grandma) she passed away on the weekend, and her funeral was in NZ today. I just want her to know that I love her so very much, she inspires me, & I know she’s at peace now. XOXO

baking baking baking i am eating so unhealthily because of my baking, but I LOVE baking for people

Blake, my friends & family I love you all, as usual!

  39. This week I love:

Engineering Week It is our busiest but best week in the whole year, three days dedicated to the engineering faculty and there are loads of workshops, contests, and conferences that are very fun and interesting.

iTC prep I have my schedule all figured out and I’m EFT-ing like mad to take away the mental blocks I have for exercising. My BFF Diego is joining me on this, his goal is to gain weight and my goal is to lose weight. We are going to the gym together.

My cell phone because of it I was able to document engineering week as best as I could.

Engineering Polo It is blue with white stitching. It also says Juls on the back.

I heart EC tote I bought an I heart EC (Edward Cullen) Tote bag yesterday. It arrives on May 6th and I want it now.

Polyvore I’m totally addicted to it and it is such a stress reliever. I love it!

Drinking Coffee with Diego, I just adore that boy, he’s the perfect friend.

    Kisses.

  40. Natasja — Lucky, Curvy! I was sad to hear the opening is invite only this year, though last year the opening night was SO PACKED no one could move. So I guess it makes sense. Wish I could go, though! I hope you have fun :>

  41. Things I love :
My boy getting so much work and loving it – even the 5am starts.( Must be love bc I don’t even mind them )

Our relationship being 100% back on track

My Job – I love it just wish there was more of it ( how about an article on how to find more freelance work…)

Rain – means I can wear my new Denim Trench coat – Helen Cherry is simply divine!

  42. Right now I am loving:

Clothes! I have gone absolutely insane from my birthday money. I already bought a skirt and a pair of leggings, and I just ordered five things from American Apparel about an hour ago. Am I crazy? And I still have more things to get! I am looking at a pair of heart-shaped glasses from Fred Flare… inspired by you, Gala!

Passover This will be my first time celebrating the holiday. I’m going home with my boyfriend to his family’s seder. I’m very excited, because I really adore him and his family!

Spring weather! Last week it got up to 80 degrees (F)- way too hot for the first days of spring! But today was 75, sunny, and breezy. Perfect, perfect, perfect.

Honorable mentions A party on Friday night, naps, Juno on DVD, and rarely-worn, almost-like-new jewelry.

  43. 1. Looking forward to things! Tomorrow my friends have planned a day of good things – we’re going to play putt putt golf and have a movie night. I’ve just finished baking some cupcakes for the occasion (and they look scrumptious, if I may say so myself!)

    2. Being able to study things I’m interested in – Year 12 is a bitch but it does have its good sides. I’ve had a series of brain EXPLOSIONS and now I’m on track with my projects – things that I actually care about!

    3. My mum. She’s so understanding and helpful, I don’t know where I’d be without her. :)

    4. The radio playing cheesy 90s pop – gives me inspiration for my own upcoming birthday party, which is going to have a 90s theme. Hello Spice Girls!

  47. Gala, I’m so sorry to hear all the circus classes were full up! Is there a waiting list? You definately have to try trapeze..you get tonnes of bruises and it hurts like hell but it’s a lot of fun.

    Things I love:

Being able to (finally) tell a personal story on my blog and not worry that people will think I’m crazy – About a very unusual experience. I’m a very private person usually, so this was a step (http://thetwilighttales.blogspot.com if you want to know what I mean)

The Spiderwick movie- ok…so the monsters arn’t ‘right’ and are very human-ised etc etc…but it’s a kids movie and I personally laughed my rear-end off. I wish there were more forests where I live.

My friends – They are perfection – supportive and encoraging…they are the cream of humanity and there’s nothing better than hanging out with them.

  59. I love butoh and want to learn, but there are no classes in my city :/

    Today:

    - I went opshopping with an old, old friend. We found some GOLD (um, not literally) and had an impromptu picnic in a car park, subsequently making friends with curious car owners and offering them food.

    - Russell Brand. I love him, and blame him entirely for certain oddities of speech, like “them fellers what who did that thing …”.

    - People who think and speak in strange and non-linear ways. Kindred!

    - Wearing one of my new dresses today!

    - Learning that I do not need much money to survive, let alone to be happy :D

    - Rewatching Disney’s The Beauty and The Beast over a bottle of wine with a friend – how amazing! i love that movie! – and it getting me thinking about hand-painted cell animation for my graduate project.

    - Getting lost in places you think you know well! In fact, surprising yourself in all ways, forever.

I love mischa barton, i have a signed photo of her next to my bed. I adore her, i know lately she has been in the press for the wrong reasons, i claim she is stressed. I love the colour purple, and imagining things. I like when i get good grades and I love my family. I adore my mum, she is my hero. I hate drama, i just want consistency, i used to think i liked a bit of drama, today i have concluded, there is a thing as too much. I love awesome looking creative people. I love boys who have great fashion sense, and look happy and friendly. I like being on my own, more than with others. I like when someone reminds me that life is GOOD! I am excited for the future, I have decided i want to be a teacher of modern history and geography. I love sleep and long hair. I love glitter and my new man pants, i am going to buy a wicked tee to go with it. I love pink nails, and wearing no makeup and still feeling beautiful. I love being in the musical and being myself. I like the fact i don’t have long till i can be out in the big wide world. I cannot wait much longer…

  68. Gifts & giving! Sending out a package for my little sister, chocked full of souvenirs I acquired on recent trips, be it to Morocco or to the monthly open-air market. Drawing a comic strip for a friend — which is, in fact, an extended & more elaborate version of an inside joke we’ve been adding on to all year. & writing someone an I’m sorry note. (Trying, constantly trying to give & give.)

Day-dreaming. But only during this one History class. The boy who always sits in front of me has nice shoulders, & the most interesting freckles on the back of his neck.

El Internado. Slightly trashy but oh-so-good Spanish television series set in an orphanage-turned-boarding-school; features unsolved disappearances & murders, lost twins (one of whom is a gigantic deformed being), multiple love triangles, child geniuses & lovely, lovely clothes. Wednesday night entertainment!

Good things coming up! Planning a week-long trip to Barcelona with three boys. Organizing suppers of pâté chinois & the best German beer with good friends. Knowing this semester & its workload is slowly, very slowly coming to an end!

& also: Chocolate ice cream (!), gray skies clearing up, quiet Sunday afternoons, long e-mails from my father, Alice Munro’s short stories like honey on my tongue, walking back home with a fresh baguette in my canvas bag.

  69. One of the best things someone ever told me was to rephrase things before saying them to make even complaints into statements with positive wording. He believed that you attract exactly what you focus on and that by making a statement using negative words, you’re attracting negativity into your life. At first, I thought this kind of thinking bordered on superstition but when I started doing it, it made me realize how often I used to complain.

For example, instead of saying “I feel sick” you can say “I don’t feel very well” and instead of saying “that person is cruel” you can say “that person isn’t kind” and instead of saying “I look so ugly today” you can say “I don’t look great today” etc etc. It was all in the wording for him. At first, I thought this was a bit ridiculous, but when I started consciously avoiding negative words, it made me realize how much complaining I was doing. And rephrasing all the complaints to positive wording is a lot of effort, so now when I feel like complaining and have to rephrase it in my head, it makes me conscious of my complaint and most of the time I just realize that saying it is unnecessary anyway.

It sounds almost superstitious or nutty, but then again, so does tapping and that works for you. Try this positive rephrasing. It really changed the way I live.

  70. Julie, I know what you mean! I read about this a few years ago and have been putting those principles into action ever since. It really does help you have a more positive outlook on life- and I feel like I’m a nicer person to be around as a result.

I haven’t done TiLT for aaaaages, because I’ve been feeling pretty low, but this is probably the time when I need it more than ever… so here goes!

Spring. The trees coming into bud- it’s so beautiful and amazing.

Switzerland- we went there a couple of weeks ago. I had a great time going for walks along snowy woodland tracks and investigating the village, and the views were wonderful.

Coming home- it was the best feeling in the world.

My new hat! A cream-white pillbox with a HUGE satin bow at the back. It’s just beautiful.

Nachos. Oh yes. I have been loving nachos.

Walks on my own. I always enjoy that.

Treadmill running- I tried it for the first time ever yesterday, and I really enjoyed it!

To use my Jetlag as an excuse For just one more day i’m just hanging in my room listening to my itunes. Catching up on the Greys Anatomy i missed. Take naps. Eat food (chocolate!!) i missed the most while travelling.. Being a bit grumpy, sorry

Wishlists I love making lists but wishlists are the best. I’m allowing myself to make one Makemesmooth order so must make a wishlist first. Also making a wishlist for the Transformation Challenge. And ofcourse a wishlist recipes i want to try sometime soon.

  77. I’ve actually had a really hard week, but there’s always a few bright sparks!

My real mink hat: It’s from the 50’s, I found it in a vintage store I frequent (the owner has seen me so often that she gives me discounts now) and it’s gorgeous. I want to wear it tomorrow.

Free fashion-shoots: I won a competition so tomorrow I get to spend three hours being lavished with attention.

Cute boys: One pretty much fell right into my path this week, and he’s ever so cute, just my type, and the perfect age. It’s fate!

Vintage dresses: When I bought my hat, I also got this skin-tight 80s prom dress, a brilliant green with sequins, and it’s so awesome that I’m taking it to wear tomorrow.

Lovely lingerie: I have a set that makes me feel like a burlesque dancer of sorts (it was terribly expensive, but worth it) – now I just need someone to show it off to! Hehe…

    And of course,

iCiNG: As always, I’ve been checking back every few hours this week (been constantly online looking for assignment sources, so I’ve been able to).

  78. x. spelt flakes- a organic cereal like corn flakes, but with tons more fiber, very low fat (1% DV per serving), and just a touch of sweetness. they are addicting!

    x. learning that i didn’t have to complete the textbook taping i was doing (i was so behind on it that it was upsetting me and making me panicky, but it turns out the person i was taping for dropped the class anyway and so i don’t have to play catch up or deal with it anymore!)

    x. warm weather- FINALLY! no more snow—it all melted yesterday & i was able to walk to school in a tank top and sunglasses. later after class i sat outside before work for an hour with a book even! yay!

    x. my tax refund finally arriving—this speaks for itself :)

    x. my boyfriend really listening to me and trying to understand me as best he can when i’m not the best at articulating what i am feeling. i really enjoy his ability to communicate well with me.

x.buying things to make sushi and planning a picnic…i’m excited & i hope it’s not too super windy down by the lake :)
