Weekly Resolutions

What did you want to do last week? If you can’t remember (naughty!), have a look.

If you really want to get something done, announcing your weekly resolutions in a public forum (like here!) is an excellent way to get things started. It gives you more impetus to finish it off — people know what you’re planning & they’re waiting to see it happen, which often gives us more motivation than if it was just us working alone.

However, in order to make your resolutions stick, it’s really useful to have them written down somewhere that you’ll see them. So what I suggest is that as you make your list of resolutions, you also grab a piece of paper & write them down physically. Then put that list in a place that naturally gets a lot of your attention — put it in the see-through part of your wallet, next to your computer or tape it to the dashboard of your car. I promise that if you do this, you will be about a billion times more effective in ticking them off!

& just like last week, let’s stick to 3 things. Did you find it made things easier?

Here are mine…

<3 Finish Nice Girls Don’t Get Rich
I’m going to be doing a bit of flying this week, which of course is the perfect opportunity to get some reading done! I’ve had this book for a while now, but it took a backseat to The 4-Hour Workweek, & is currently sitting on the windowsill looking lonely. The name of it is shocking, but I guess it worked, because I bought it! I’ve also been receiving a few questions about managing finances, & I want to address them, but in order to do that I need to brush up my knowledge!

<3 Put together enough iCiNG content for the time I’ll be away!
We leave for Wellington on Wednesday night, I’m so excited! I’ll still be on the site, commenting & fossicking about, but I want to make the most of the time I’m there — so I have three days to whip up a whole lot of goodies for you! Sometimes I find that difficult because when I write something I’m really happy with, I always want to post it straight away! It seems mean to withhold fun things from you! But I will soldier on… !

<3 Embrace my time in Wellington
I have (in the past) had a tendency to wig out a bit whenever I go back to Wellington. I think going back to the place we grew up can cause a conflict of emotions for a lot of people. Of course, though, feeling & reacting like this is a choice, & it’s really more of a pattern or habit than acting consciously or thinking about what’s going on. So, my intention is to have an amazing time while I’m there. I’m going to see my friends, spend time with my parents, go shopping & relax. I always feel like I have to be doing something every moment, but I am going to give myself permission to chill out. I’m considering it restorative time because when I get back to Melbourne, things are going to pick up in a big way! Should be good.

What about you? Remember to grab a badge if you post yours elsewhere!

Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala <3

  2. I wish you luck, Gala. I hope your trip goes great!

    Weekly Resolutions:

1.) Get caught up on the hundreds of pounds of geography work.

2.) Start writing out more detailed plot lines for stories.

3.) ...Finish six cups of green tea in one night. I know it sounds silly, but my record so far is five, and i’d like to beat it. Plus, I haven’t been eating healthy this past week, so it probably can’t hurt to up the amount.

  3. jo — It’s not a book about “getting rich” (hence why I said the title was so terrible), it’s about using your money properly & not wasting it. See also: not incurring major credit card debt, budgeting, etc. I keep getting emails from girls with $30,000 worth of credit card debt, which is something that needs to be sorted out!

  5. My resolutions for the week commencing Monday 25 March were:

~ finish the book I just started over Easter (The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferris).
Yes! Finished & feeling completely inspired!

~ book my massage & facial at East Day Spa for April.
Yes! All booked for Saturday 19 April.

~ confirm the dates for my trip to New York in September (at the moment it’s 5-14 September ish) and start planning my trip (including my tattoo)!
Yes! We depart for New York on Friday 5 September & leave New York on Sunday 14 September.

My resolutions for the week commencing Monday 31 March are:

~ implement at least one idea from The 4-Hour Work Week.

~ book tickets to see Arj Barker (aka “Dave” from Flight of the Conchords) perform at San Francisco Bathhouse later this month as part of the NZ International Comedy Festival.

~ hang out with Gala while she’s in Wellington! ♥

(buying and selling money.. sounds fun)

*** Start thinking about a new wardrobe and how I would really like to dress (this may take me longer than I week
    I fear)

  7. Last week I achieved all the goals n_n I’m s happy the micro movement method helped me a lot.

    This week I want:

Consume as less caffeine as possible Won’t be easy since I’m going to be waking up at 5:10 am to go to school and I need to stay awake during my Accounting class _.

Buy New Moon On Friday I read Twilight and now I want to read what happens next.

Deliver my reports on time I’m a bit behind but I’ll catch up and stay that way this week.

Have fun in Wellington Gala! n_n

    Kisses.

  8. Get my life (and love life) in some semblence of order

  9. My resolutions are…

    * Get all my marking and planning done before going back to work. * Have a picnic. * Go to the cinema in the day.

Enjoy Wellington. I’m Very Excited About Your Surprise!! (Hence use of capitalisation-I’m not shouting ;> )

  10. Hmm… last week’s went okay. This week:

FIX MY HAIR! Alas! Gala, I did not take your advice about hair coloring, and used…. shiver Fudge. My hair is a dingy mauve instead of the indigo/purple I was planning on. Another application did not even help (though it did get rid of all the blonde.) I’m off to Wildilocks tomorrow to get some SFX to fix it.

Have coffee with someone! I’m finding it difficult to see my friends casually, with uni and social stuff meaning it’s all either rushing to and from lectures, or seeing them when they’re entirely drunk :(

Have some money left by Sunday: I am doing way too much spending at the moment, but with dinner tonight and hair-fixing-woes, I think I’ll probably be broke :(

    <3 Gin · Mar 31, 11:12 AM · #
  11. Felicity — I’m soooo excited that we’re going to be in NYC at the same time!

Gin — Oh no, Fudge! Blargh! I suggest getting Wildflower by SFX, it’s beautiful! Give Wildilocks my love :>

    <3 Gala · Mar 31, 11:18 AM · #
  12. Hm, I think I’ll join in on the resolutions for the first time!

    - get my studying act together (this means completing my anthro homework, my biological theory paper, and catching up in organic!) – incorporate more fruit and veggies in my diet – they’re there, i just need (and crave) MORE of them. – start swimming! yay warm weather!

    <3 sora · Mar 31, 11:21 AM · #
  13. All right! I haven’t done this before (naughty!), so!

    - Contact my cousin about bleaching my hair! She said she wasn’t available until early April, and now it’s just about time!

    - Make some serious progress on organizing my room. I’m planning on moving out this summer, but I can’t let it stay like it is now, either. I think a trip to an organizing store is in order…

    - Write an email to the tattoo artist I want to work with! I’ve been wanting a tattoo (my first and likely only, but I hear those are famous last words) from this artist for about four years now; I haven’t actually reached out to her yet, and her waitlist is usually a year long. But the boyfriend is going in and getting his long-awaited tattoos in May, so that was a little bit of a kick. But I’ll never get closer to getting the tattoo if I don’t ever try…

  14. Nice Girls Don’t Get Rich is an excellent book. I first came across it on my friend’s bookshelf and the title did make me raise my eyebrows at first, but then she explained it was really about how women can avoid the pitfalls of mismanaging their finances. I enjoyed reading it, and I found some really valuable messages. Definitely a must read for any woman, especially if you’re in your early twenties.:)

  15. o Keep up consistent homework habits
o Wake up at 6:00 every morning to exercise
o Create meal plan & start my 2 week Detox diet

    thats all.
oh geez i love this site.

    <3 Jessica Jasmine · Mar 31, 11:31 AM · #
  16. Finish my spanish coursework
    Finish my english coursework
    get my eyebrows done

Didn’t set any goals last week, went with the flow but still managed to do a fashion sketchbook, paint the kitchen and declutter the house some more. I’m guessing this week I’ll have to be more organised to get through the stuff I don’t want to do :p

  17. Gala – Me too! :D When do you arrive/leave NYC?

    <3 Felicity · Mar 31, 11:41 AM · #
  18. Whoops. I did pretty terrible on last weeks resolutions. I didn’t clean my room, and I only exercised two days! And I kept my weight exactly the same, haha.

Well, this week I’ll be returning to school, so that gives me plenty of resolutions to make! But my top three…

► Don’t miss the bus! I’ve been missing the bus a ton the last few weeks of school due to hair problems in the morning (my hair takes half an hour to dry and brush…!), so I was late to school. I resolve to insure that does not happen this week. I’ll just have to work out some different ways to do things that are a part of my morning routine.

► Work super hard at school! I’ve totally been slacking off and I really need to stop that. I know that I’m going to have to re-take one of my classes, but it would definitely be a good idea to learn as much from it now as I can so hopefully it will be easier on me the second time around. Plus, I really need to pass the other classes, and I insist on passing them with A’s!

► Eat healthily at lunch! I am soooo picky and lazy when I’m eating lunch at school, I’ll just go get m&m cookies instead of taking the time to see what is in each line and waiting in line. Totally not healthy to eat three scrumptious, warm m&m cookies for lunch every day, though! I’m thinking I’ll brave the lines to get some fruit, especially if they have apples (or maybe I’ll just bring an apple for myself each day!).

I hope you have a magnificent time in Wellington! Enjoy yourself! :] ♥ (And take some daily outfit photos for us? ;] )

    <3 Kassandra · Mar 31, 11:45 AM · #
  19. Oooh I hope you have the best time in Wellington! Focus on how lucky you are to be there, unlike those of us poor sods who are not :(

Last week I left one resolution unresolved, so this week I have to:

    Finish reading the flippin’ NZ Curriculum;

    Contact some people about working for them;

Get out of my style rut. With a shock (!) I realised that I wear the same 4 (four) gorgeous comfy flattering dresses all the time – my challenge for the next week is to LEAVE them and instead try and find some other gorgeous comfy flattering ensembles, already in my wardrobe. No spendy-spendy!

  20. - Find new and exciting ways to make my work, that is, writing, painting and drawing, relevant and interesting throughout my life. Integrate these things more rather than viewing them as separate to my inner/non-working/romantic/internet lives. Integration in general, I guess, is my ultimate aim – to not compartmentalise so much.

    - Work it! Start by writing and accepting all offers for exhibitions, publication, etc. this week. This ties into not being afraid to get out there – I often commit self-sabotage in this way, and it needs to stop. Now.

    - To leave my house for unadulterated fun at least once, rather than being a hermit and working.

These all tie into bigger aims, actually, but baby steps! Baby stepsssss!
    Also those illustrations are gorgeous!

  21. The standard ‘be healthy & work harder’ resolution for me. Aside from that I want to get round to having a fringe cut, because my old side fringe is nearly jaw length and looks silly. I also need to clean up the house majorly because my parents return from their holiday tomorrow!

    <3 >Heather> · Mar 31, 11:57 AM · #
  22. oooo my first resolutions…!

organise bedroom: it is currently a horrendous mass of clothes, handbags, shoes, makeup, jewellery. Our bedroom is not the tranquil zone it should be. I’m going to change that!

sew one complete garment: I have lots of half finished pieces, but I’d really love to just finish one whole dress!

choose wedding venue: I’m getting married in 12 months and am still undecided about venues in Byron, MUST decide and book this week!!

    xo.

  23. Hi Gala! I hope you have a wonderful & fun trip.
    My weekly resolutions include:
-reading a book: I try to finish a book a week & I’ve been reaching this goal each week so far.
-work on major school projects & avoid procrastination: it will be hard but I need to focus on school and do my very best.
-write in my journal: I’ve been slacking off in doing so because I find other ways to fill my time, but i’d really want to start writing again.
    -exercise & eat healthy
I hope you have a great week & accomplish your resolutions!

  24. it seems to be a good week for first time resolutions

wake up early enough to get a work out in before class

create a resume i am graduating in May and I need to start seriously looking for a job

eat more fruit and veggies I’ve been inspired by gala’s interest and information about the raw food movement so I want to incorporate more fruits and veggies

I like the limit of only 3 resolutions. It forces you to prioritize and focus on what you’d really like to accomplish. I think it started to become more like a ‘to do’ list rather than resolutions.

  26. 1. Eat breakfast everyday.
Hopefully this will get me geared up to start my day instead of moping around the flat and not getting anything done.

    2. Apply to five jobs.
I keep saying how I want to quit my current job and get a new one. Time to eat my words.

    3. Feed my guinea pigs properly.
I haven’t had the time or money to feed them pellets, hay and veggies throughout the day. They’re starting to get angsty so I should do this, and it will make them happy.

  29. Last week’s goals were mostly accomplished. I applied for three different internships, and plan to continue that process this week- though it won’t be a goal here, I think, since I’ve got the momentum for it. I spent time worrying about myself and figuring out my own shit, which was so necessary. And I didn’t workout every day I didn’t have Ultimate, but I find that I’m okay with that. I worked out on Monday, but Wednesday my knee was bothering me, and Friday was the day before a tournament, so stressing my muscles either of those days would have been bad.

    This week, though…
Finish work early And by early, I mean before Shabbat starts (Friday at sundown), as I’m playing both days of an Ultimate tournament next weekend, and tonight I’m stressed by the amount of work I have to get done and I only played one day this weekend!
Decide on classes for next semester Part of last week’s goals ended up leading to me realizing that I don’t want to do the major I originally planned on, so I need to rework what I’m taking next semester entirely. Should be fun though!
Flirt with cute boys Because I need the fun and excitement of that. It’s a nice release.

    <3 Rachel · Mar 31, 01:12 PM · #
  30. 1. Go completely raw for at least four days this week; I’m working slowly up to being full-time.

    2. Not get so upset about things. My dad isn’t really helping my diet/exercise situation right now…he’s a bit critical and sometimes outright mean. I want to get to where I don’t get all depressed whenever he criticises me.

    3. Actually, y’know, get some work done on my senior project.

  31. Thank you for posting the physical list tip. I was ajust thinking about that before I came here to post, and it really will help. This week

-Send all my thank you notes. I have to send some to companies and big names in my town for an awards ceremony, and I just had my birthday and got some wonderful gifts, I really want to express my gratitude

-Pack a lunch every night with tons of fruit. I got a ton of fruit for my birthday, and my healthy eating habits have been slipping, I want to make an effort to pack a yummy and delicious lunch every day, and bring some to share with friends too.

-Work on my blog more. I just started it, but I’m serious about it. I have tons of ideas for posts and I want to put alot of effort into them

    <3 Ariel · Mar 31, 01:37 PM · #
  32. This week, I want to:

    - Stop being a doormat: I have a tendency to be too forgiving to people who don’t deserve it. And also I’m not making an effort with people who brush me off. – Start working on my assignments for uni: I have a fair few coming up, so I want to get my individual ones out of the way before they pile up on top of the group ones!

    - Drink more water: I loathe water. I drink juice, cordial, milk and tea instead, but I’m making an effort to be more healthy.

    - Be more careful of my possessions: I lost my wallet last week ( very bad! ) so I’m making a conscious effort to be more careful.

    - Start sorting out my house: I inherited a house (full of possessions) when my parents died in December 2006, and my relatives have been living there rent-free (see above, about not being a pushover any more), so they’ve finally moved out and I’m going to sort out everything and rent it out – a very daunting task!

    <3 Jessabelle · Mar 31, 01:40 PM · #
  33. These weekly resolutions have been helping me so much! Even if I don’t complete one, the process is keeping me more focused, motivated, and able to shift those moments (you know, the I don’t think I can do this moments)! Thanks Gala!

Job Applications I am searching for a fabulous, creative, inspiring job! I am a designer, incredibly organised and itching to get out there and give it my all! But those applications aren’t going to write themselves…

Mothers Day Classic I’ve been slowly building up my training over the last few weeks, doing lots of yoga, weights (they are purple and very cute!) and a wee bit cardio. By the end of the week I need to be doing 20 minutes of running training most days because the race is only 6 weeks away! It’s going to be so much fun!

Productivity I’ve been working on my efficiency over the last few weeks. This week I am going to start getting out of bed at 7am (I am usually an early bird but it has been so chilly!), setting myself daily goals, and relaxing.

Boy- We’ve hung out once and I need to flirt more/spend more time with him. (I’m a little infatuated at the moment.)
Healthy- Drink water and follow the 3 rules from the book I read “eat food, not too much, mostly plants”. (Micheal Pollan’s In Defense of Food if anyone’s interested.)
Relax- It’s back to school after spring break and I tend to get too stressed out during school- especially because this week is kinda busy.

  36. (*)Go to all of my classes.(*)
Sounds simple, right? Yeah, it should be. I need to go to classes. Stop falling into the same rut that failed me at Auckland. Must. Go. To. Class. Besides, I’ve got tests coming up that are fail / pass course tests. Eek. It is history, so I should be able to pull it together but I’ve already got a failed assignment behind me.

    (*)Plan a “winter wardrobe”.(*)
It sounds silly and vain, but I’m so sick and tired of having to rummage around the floor to find things to wear to uni. For crying out loud I probably have more clothes than the average person and I can’t find anything, ever, that I like. Mainly because I’ve gotten FAT than I was in Auckland (damn relationship comforts) and all my pretty clothes are tight / dont fit at all and it’s quite depressing. I have so many pretty clothes that are wasting away in the closet. sigh

    I need:

    - Cute Ballet Flats – Covered up comfy / cute sneaker type shoes (Chucks? Keds? Random Number1 shoes?) – Varied amounts of long sleeve tops – Replacement black Glassons cardigan – Simple shift dress – Shirt dress like Alex’s (hee) – Lots and LOTS of opaque tights (mmm, hairy legs here I come) – Varied coloured scarves – Earmuffs (because they are so cute)

    Something like that anyways.

(*)Go to the gym three times a week.(*)
I’m only ever going to get out what I put in. So instead of complaining I should just really suck it up and do it. Seriously. It’s an hour out of my time every day. I just need to get into that mindset that everyone else seems to have. Gym is good. Gym is good. Running is good. Exercise is good.

And even if I don’t make it to the gym 3 times, I can still exercise. Bike riding. Walking with Lyle. Finding a cheap pilates dvd on trademe. Stretching. God, I used to be so flexible. Now I can barely cross my legs. Pleb.

    - do the 3 months worth of ironing that has been hiding out in my spare room all this time

    Happy Travels, Gala! xo

    > Take photos of the stack of items to put on ebay that are clogging up the spare room

    > Make macaroons

    > Start house hunting, the place i’m renting just got sold and now i need a new place ASAP!!

  49. after a few very hectic weeks at work i’m really hoping to get some personal projects finished instead of spending too many hours in the office…

so my list this week is

    1. sew waistband and hem skull print pocket skirt so i can wear it to work

    2. design compact travel change mat for my BFFs as yet unborn baby

    3. complete the ‘supersecretsurprise’ gift for our engagement party attendees

i’ve also declared a moratorium on househunting for this week. the constant negativity involved in the process is getting to me. it will be nice to just relax and be creative instead!

  50. Awesome! I did well last week, too!

This week I’m going to continue my resolutions as habits by:
    1) playing around with this website my dad gave me to give people a feel for the American stock market without actually buying/selling stocks with real money in real-time
    2) finishing at least one book! (I currently have 15 on hold at the library, whoops)
    3) making two new study sheets (per week)

    Happy New Week, everyone!

  52. I’m a weekly resolutions “virgin”, so here goes!

    i) I really, really, REALLY need to find a casual job by the end of the week. I walked through the city a couple of weeks ago and handed in something like – oh – thirty resumes, and still didn’t get anything back! So, this week, I would like to absolutely must find a job. That way I can have money to aid my fashion cravings.

ii) Stay organised and tidy. Lying in bed the other night, I had this epiphany about how messy I had been over the last two months since I’d been back at school. I realised how much of a pigsty my room actually was! So I ended up out of bed at 3am, rushing around and tidying up – it was bugging me that much that I couldn’t sleep! So this week, I want to stay tidy and for everything to be organised!

iii) Finish a draft of my marketing case study. Erghhhh, I’ve had this assignment sitting here for ages. So this week, I have to call the company that I’m working with, chase them up to get some information out of them, and then get a draft done!

  53. 3/3 last week – I’m so proud!

  56. This is my first weekly resolutions! But, boy, do I need them. The Easter break from uni has been hectic leaving me doing not enough uni work and eating too much junk food. I have one week left before I return so…

    1. Drink lots of water and eat lots of fruit & veg! I do this for so long and then return back to my old eating habits…I need to get stuck into a proper routine of healthy eating!

    2. Try to relax more. I’ve been so busy the past fortnight, trying to socialise, working overtime to help out my stressed manager AND trying to fit uni work in too! Hence now I am full of a cold and in need of some downtime.

    3. Keep my room tidy! One of the productive things I did get done over the break was tidying and organising my room. Now I just have to try to keep it tidy! My room is only small and I have so much stuff that it is sometimes a battle but I’m ontop of it now!

    <3 Helen · Mar 31, 08:23 PM · #
  57. First time actually doing this properly, as opposed to just, ‘Hmm, maybe I’ll think about doing this…’

Apply for my driver’s licence Not for the driving, alas – I need the ID!

Fix my blind I am literally blinded myself at 5am by the sunlight. Not fun.

Get to the gym three times I have my school Leavers’ Ball soon. ‘Nuff said!

  58. I can’t believe I failed at 2 out of 3. Relay for Life turned into a giant mess and I’m still working on those 2 assignments. I can’t help but procrastinate it’s horrible.

My 3 resolutions for this week are as follows:

    1. STUDY!
    2. Get on top of uni work (which links to the above)
    3. Apply for at least one job.

  64. 1. Drink lots of water every day. I’m installing this habit, since I tried it and I liked how i felt. It’s simple, yet it makes me feel clear in my head somehow.

    2. Start using EFT also every day of the week. I’m very intrigued by it, and I tried it once or twice, it felt good, but the habit didn’t stick.

    3. Make a list of things I need for moving to London for a year. I’m very confused about what I need to bring with me on a one year lasting trip. Any advices & experiences?
    Thanks:)

    This week:

Send thesis project to my thesis director I’d rather do it today or tomorrow, actually.

Get up early and write Everyday. You know the drill.

Have fun with my sister She’s coming from London with her boyfriend and they’ll be staying with us for a week. She’s wonderful but can be somewhat… tiring at times. So my goal is to enjoy the better parts of her (like, the fact that she’s funny and a wonderful cook) and let go of the rest.

  72. how did i do last week?

    1. practice EFT on my anxiety and insecurities. i did NOT do well on this goal! i started to tap a bit last night after i got upset about something, but since it’s been so long (2 weeks or so?) and i haven’t done it much to begin with, i got frustrated and stopped.

    2. be more proactive at work, and feel productive and valuable again! things have gotten busy at work, and yes, i AM feeling more proactive, productive, and valuable. good news!

    3. clean the house. i did some cleaning, but not a whole lot. shame!

    this week’s goals:

    1. practice EFT. i’m going to try this again. i’ve had quite a bit of negative energy collecting in my mind and body these past few weeks. time to get rid of it!

    2. clean. no excuses this time, i’m having guests over this weekend!

    3. write. online and in my paper journal. get those words out!

    For this week:

    1. Figure out what to do with my new haircut. Product? Specific styling options?

    2. Taxes. I have another 2 weeks, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to just take care of it now. Wow, I’m such a grownup, worrying about getting my taxes squared away…

    3. Get some serious work done on either my portfolio or my business card. More grownup stuff…

  74. What an awesome idea… I’m going to try and get into the habit of doing this on a weekly basis on a Sunday evening.

    OK – For this week…

    1. Research the Furnished apartment market in NYC and the technicalities of moving to NYC for a couple of months towards the tail end of the British summer/start of autumn.

    2. Organise my record collection (yeah – real 12” records) – it is in a complete mess and I’m looking to sell them as a complete job lot other than a few sentimental records.

    3. Go for more walks. We’re now on British summer time here which means the evenings should hopefully be a little lighter for longer. I should use that time in the evening to go for a wander and see if I can find some interesting crannies around north London.

iii) recycle!! bring bottles to the depot and clothes to the salvation army!

last week my only goal was to clean the spare room and go through all my clothes and trash what i don’t wear. we (my husband and i) did just that AND bought a bunch of glorious cleaning supplies and cleaned the house top to bottom. smells so clean and yummy in here now! :)

  80. Last week I only got one out of three, but my bookcase is looking lovely and full with all my DVDs and (non-romance novel) books filling the shelves. I also did pretty well on upping my fruit and veggie intake, piling my turkey sandwiches high with lettuce and sprouts…I didn’t have ANY veggies yesterday though! But I also didn’t have any soda at all, only water and milk, so it’s a semi-fair trade I guess.

    For this week:
Eat three fruits & veggies a day Since it didn’t really work out last week
Take my dog to the vet So I can then register her and complete the third of last week’s resolutions
Confirm all my plans for the Bamboozle A fabulous concert festival the first weekend in May, complete with several of my favorite bands, most of my best friends, and a smattering of international friends I haven’t seen in months. So excited!

  92. Last week I did maybe 2.5ish of my resolutions, which is cool!

    This week:

I need to be as productive as possible, I have a few pretty hard exams coming up.

Not be limited by what my boyfriend sees as ‘fashion’.
I wore what I thought was a really cute outfit to uni yesterday, instead of Jeans. I put on a white dress/slip thing, black stockings and my new black mid-calf length boots, a blue belt and my grey cardigan. All my GIRL friends thought it looked good, but the first thing my boyf said when he saw me was “What the hell are you wearing!?!”.
    Hmph!
It’s the same as me never buying any high waisted skirts [which I love] because he said he doesn’t like them once. No more!

    This week:

    - Exercise! (3x, 30min each) Okay, I was very, very lazy about this goal last week. No more! I was at the gym yesterday, and I was amazed by how I felt afterward.

    - Eat well! I’m going raw, thanks to you, Gala! (You’re such an inspiration.) My goal is to be 50% raw by next Monday.

    - Sketch! Wow, this is on my list a lot, but I need to push myself to do this until it becomes second nature again.

    So this week:

    - Read at least one book I can list in my BookMooch inventory (I didn’t even manage one last week, so I decided to take the pressure off!)

    - Do uni work everyday (I didn’t do any last week! Not even because I’m procrastinating or deliberately avoiding, I’m just filling my time with other things.)

    - Work on my list of style ideas. I have a little notebook and whenever I come up with an outfit idea or something I want to get or make I write it down. I actually haven’t gone through it at all to put any of it into action!

  95. I have one major resolution this week – I want to get as many people as i can to go to this link!

    uncensor.com.au/

It’s not my website or anything like that – it’s an initiative by Amnesty International to fight internet censorship in China. I think this is really important…well it’d really important to me, anyway. As a person who uses the internet alot, i recognise its value in my life as a tool not only for communication and leisure but for education. I disagree with the censorhip program in China regarding the fact that citizens cannot search democratic terms, or terms that “disrupt the unity of China”. I think this is wrong. I hope that someone may read this comment and help me in my weekly resolution! This is the first resolution i’ve ever posted, but i feel its too important not to share.

Not being able to search about issues which affect your freedom is wrong. All you have to do is open the link, look on the right hand side for “Search for Freedom”. There’s a drop down menu of search terms – all you have to do is select one (or more, if you have time) and press Go.

Uncensor is aiming to flood Chinese search engine servers with searches for subjects which are highly censored, to confuse the Chinese authorities to shield actual citizens who may also try to research these terms, and to send a message to major search companies like Yahoo and Google who are complying with Chinese Government regulations. They record this info in their server logs, and they consider their server logs as part of their business models, so you’re sending your message to where it will get the most attention, if you choose to help out.

You can have a look at how their internet censorship works yourself when you view the search results. Most of them come up with a blank screen. If you search the 1989 democratic movement on the chinese google, you oddly enough get quite a few pictures of basketball. I’m pretty sure that has nothing to do with it.

That’s my resolution: please tell your friends! Please fight this, all it takes is a few clicks of the mouse!

    ~
