Mine would probably be the Gucci “Joy” bag (http://www.bagborroworsteal.com/Handbags/Gucci/Gucci-Joy-Medium-Boston-Handbag/12152/46/42) because I’d never be able to cost-justify spending a lot of money on something so ornate – if I were to buy an “investment” bag it would be something plain and classic, but I’d love to carry something as awesome as that on my arm!
I’ve just changed my major to creative writing, which is something that’s really changed my life for the better. I think that the Yves Saint Laurent Stamp Tote would be mad cute for carrying all my literature and writing books around campus~!

Definitely the Betsey Johnson ‘Strap ‘Em Down’ Hobo Handbag. The studs appeal to my rocker chic wardrobe, and I’ve been looking for a good black bag for a long time. Plus it looks big enough to carry a book, an ipod, my journal, and a camera! (A must for any bag I purchase.)
I would chose the elvie satchel or the stamp tote. I need something big and blousey for sleevovers, clothes changes, and to carry my enormous lab research project book -its difficult to look glamorous when youre in a lab all day! I’m in a f-ing good school in London and it needs to be obvious. I need to attract a trophy beau. Also, the bag needs to be all purpose. Either of the two are pretty dressy, I could take them out to a club or bar afterwards and look hot (moreso for the Alexander McQueen bag), even if there’s buffer medium all over my jeans. With the bag in tow, the stains would look intentional. —I bought these jeans this way okay! They’re ‘distressed’, obviously. Would someone wearing a YSL and/or Alexander McQueen bag LIE about that?!

I would fill it with my Phone, My collection of lip gloss, My City Moleskine journal, my Digital camera, my video camera (have to document it properly for my YouTube peeps!), and I would stash little trinkets I find around the city. Funky Jewelry from Camden, Little handmade things from Portabello Road, Photobooth pictures with my friends from Tracadero in Piccadilly Circus… ohhh the possibilities.

The Marc Jacobs Venetia Satchel, besides being big, beautiful, and beige (I LOVE versatility – and pockets) reminds me of a really sweet story regarding my mom. I’ve always had a Marc Jacobs obsession (who doesn’t?) but never had any of his items. I was also coming to that age when a really nice handbag was becoming necessary (or at least very desirable.) ANYWAY, one Christmas my mother told me about how she had wanted to get me a Marc Jacobs handbag, but having no idea how much they are, she was wondering around Nordstrom and then finally asked someone where they were. The woman behind the counter replied “they’re there behind the locked case.” My poor mama saw the $900 price tag and sadly walked away, but I always think of her good intentions and how sweet she was about – as though I could actually expect anyone to spend $900 on a handbag for me (as much as I would WANT them to, hehe)!
Anyway, so besides being a beautiful bag, I think my mom would like me to finally have my Marc Jacobs bag – even if only for a month! :)

I would have to go for Chanel because I’ve been swooning for one ever since I can remember, but of course I’d never be able to afford one (at this point anyway). The style of this bag just blows me away, and I love the gray leather quilting and the bold CC symbol. Makes my panties a little wet.
With that said as soon as I got this I’d fill it with everything that I could possibly need to go out, including my tooth brush & Hello Kitty diary. I’d then stroll around the town in my hugeee sunglasses going into every store and maybe stopping for some tea and a chance to write in my diary about the day carrying my fabulous bag. I never win anything, so I have no idea why I’m entering this. All I can say is that I’d probably choose a Betsey Johnson bag, a large one so I can climb inside it and make it my home. I’d paint the walls blue and have yellow canaries perching on the windowsills. There would be a windowbox with pink tulips in it and a white cat on the couch. I’d read Kafka novels on the couch and muse on the nature of rainbows while drinking an espresso and unbending a croissant. Then again, that’s just me. :)
This Felix Ray beauty whispers to me from its treasured place in my boudoir as I open my eyes to the early morning light. It singsongs “Come and run away with me, off to school, play or wherever. As long as I’m on your arm.”
I would put in some cards, markers, treats, and my grey cardigan for a run about the city. We would stop at certain houses to deliver anonymous cards and sweets, ding dong, and make a smooth getaway before the owners saw us; if they caught a glimpse, it would be of a pink nmyph fleeing the scene in fits of laughter.

I think I’d have to stay in all day with my mouth hanging open, rubbing my hands all over it. I’ve never had a proper handbag before, & I’d be in too much shock if I had this beauty!
My first would be, without a doubt, the Balenciaga Giant City bag. I LOVE Balenciaga bags, they are edgy and fun without being over-the-top, and that makes them great everyday bags, because they can add a bit of zing to even the simplest outfit.
Alas, I cannot afford to buy my very own Balenciaga, so if I won, it would definitely be at the top of the list :-) I like the Giant City because I love large handbags, especially satchels – and when they come in purple… who can resist?

Why?! Because it’s big enough to fit my entire life when I’m on the go! It could be trendy or classy; you could go anywhere with it! It’s a shame it’s not in red (my favorite color!) BUT I nonetheless love it in yummy chocolate brown in butter smooth looking leather. YUM!
My first handbag would be a large, hefty hold-all – almost the same size and bulk as a 60’s grandma carpet bag. The fabric, however, would set it apart. My bag would primarily be a deep, tropical turquoise shade, with nuances of electric violet and forest green. Images of butterflies, hibiscus flowers and sea corals would be silk-screened on it, in all the coulours of the rainbow and a hundred more. You would never really be able to say what colour my bag was; every time you saw it, you would notice a different shade, depending perhaps on the weather, or the way I held it. The straps would be a definite shade, though: black, made of leather, and thick, so that they sat comfortably on my shoulder, and never hurt my skin or tugged my clothes. Twined around one strap would be an old silver necklace, with its pendant, an amethyst set in silver, growing warm against my arm. This bag would not be a beacon of light that sucked all other colours out of its surroundings, but would glow gently, making even the dullest environment seem a little more cheery.
My bag, large as it is, would contain many things, none of them making any clear shape that distorted the fabric, but all of them special enough to give the bag presence and weight. There would be the essentials: a red vinyl Bettie Page wallet, keys on a silver chain so full of charms and trinkets that the keys themselves were almost incidental, and my phone, which would be doomed to ring, unanswered, as a I searched for it among all the bag’s other treasures. There would be my philosophy book of the moment, pages marked with train tickets from holidays, twenty pens, all gorgeous and unique, all almost empty. There will be lychee-falvoured lip-balm, 99% cocoa chocolate, a compact with attractively cracked glass, my trusty emerald Sigg water bottle.
Most importantly though, would be the special things that this bag transports. These things are not for me: they are the things that other people need, but just forgot, or didn’t know they were missing. The notes on a book that I own, that would be useful for my classmate’s exam tomorrow; he didn’t even know the book existed. The loose change which, when added to my friend’s, means we can just afford a gin-and-cranberry to share (two straws). The application form for a job that my best friend would be great at. The Ferrero Rocher that is the perfect celebration for her boyfriend telling her he loves her too. The little picture of a supermodel wearing an outfit that mirrors my boyfriend’s. The little toy car that will amuse, over lunch, the lovely innocent boy.
This bag doesn’t have a name; it’s just “Flora’s bag”. Everyone I know conjures up an image of it when they think of it; each of those images is different, and each one, in a way, would also be carried in this bag.

Jalda Croc ‘Doris’ Frame Handbag would be my first. I LOVE the look of it, so cute, great color, just the right size. It would go EVERYWHERE with me!
If I live in Fantasy Land, my first bag would be a Birkin (preferably in the new ciel color that Victoria Beckham is carrying). Not only is it the Rolls Royce of purses, but they’re just so classy, not to mention it’s HERMES!!!
However, I don’t live in Fantasy Land, and if I have to buy the bag myself, I would probably choose a Coach Large Sebina in tan. It’s not very flashy or exciting, but it will go with EVERYTHING!!! And it would definitely have a very proper name, like Gwenyvere. It would accompany me sipping lattes, buying shoes, walking the dog, buying shoes, going to the opera, and buying shoes.
If I could, I would buy the baby pink Balenciaga city(?) bag. I wouldn’t protect it, and I’d think every scuff, broken pen stain or wear and tear would just add character and make it moreso mine. :)

I love it so much! The minty color is perfect, and the gold makes it look mermaid-like. I would carry it everywhere, everyday and keep plenty in it, but not so much that it would be too heavy to swing while dancing down the street because I’d be too ecstatic not to dance.

I LOVE this bag and I can just picture loading it up with my latest read, my laptop, cell phone, camera, sunglasses, a copy of Toronto Life, and gallavating about the city all morning. Then in the afternoon, with old faithful by my side, I would cozy myself onto a patio for coffee or cocktails with friends!

This Kooba satchel is absolutely perfect for spring! It would go well with sundresses of almost any color or style, skirts, shorts, sunglasses, chunky jewelry, you name it! The color just screams fun and cute for spring!!
The Satchel even has pockets and a place to slide your cell phone, which is always handy when it comes to bags. Besides, the hobo style is chic, cute, and totally in. It’s different than a typical designer knock-off you see daily or your plain ol’ black or white handbag. This one may not be quite as versatile, but it can be dressed up or down. It would be a cute touch to my wardrobe this season!

I am dying to obtain the PS1, it is such a classic bag. I am positive it will only get better in time and become perfectly worn in. I have a family member that is very close to the boys from PS and she doesn’t even have one. I swear I would treat that bag like a child, a first born. I don’t have kids yet so it really would be my baby, after my 2 lil cute kitties, natch. The problem with the lil guys is that they don’t leave the house. I would take that bag everywhere. Thats my outfit. I tried to go a little futuristic with it. I would wear it to a fashionable, futuristic tea party. It would have traditional settings and such, but the outfits of the patrons would be almost couture. It would be in a park. My doggies would be running around, then I’d go run around with them. The weather would be warm, but not humid. Then my puppy, also known as my boyfriend, would join us, and he’d treat me to a night on the town, my way. We’d go to dinner, most likely sushi. We’d go to all the vintage shops in the area, and get things and look at things. Then we’d just look lovingly into each others eyes, as we fall asleep under the stars.
I would go with the Lagerfield. It’s a complete departure from the “classic” bags that I usually carry.Its a bit more edgy and the fact that it is a tote is just amazing.

I would adopt the Alexander McQueen Elvie Satchel. Sleek, cheek, and a little voluptuous (just like me) I think we could be marvelous friends. Whether it would sophisticate my outfit for my job at the bank or class up my night on the town with friends, the addition to my family would truly see every wonder in my world. I would probably apply the nickname AMES to my new bosom buddy, in honor of the acronym and my fashionista friend Amy, who would go bug-eyed for this beauty.
“But contents?” you must be thinking, “what labors would you place in such an exquisite piece of companionship?” I mean, a great bag is amongst a girl’s best friends. So as to contents you would spy: my handie dandie sunglasses that protect my big blues from the sun, my moleskin, which itself is chalk full of fashion inspiration and creative doodles of late, my lovely rose tea lip balm, whatever cell phone I have for the moment (and if that sounds pompous I surely don’t mean it too. I just have had so much trouble with mine of late… i keep running through repairs like crazy), a pocketbook calendar, a sharpie, a couple polaroids, a digital camera, my driver’s license, debit card, keys to the car, house, apartment, and work, as well as my recent to-do list for the day. (Hey now, I was just giving specifics.)

this lockheart bag would be my first pick for a bag. i’m not usually the type of girl who goes wild at the sight of an “authentic” handbag; i usually stuff my belongings in something and run! but this bag would truly make me feel like something special, a feeling that formerly would never have been achieved by a handbag.
i can see it on my shoulder as i bike around the city like that girl in the ‘Miss Dior Cherie’ video. the beautifully carefree handbag that i could only dream of holding would at once be mine for just a moment. the stitching is something that i could only dream of, as i imagine the buttery texture caressing my arm in the glow of the summer sun. my love for this bag goes deeper than desire – i would nickname it joni because it reminds me of a bohemian like joni mitchell smiling and swinging it over her shoulder. i would never be able to even afford to rent such a fabulous bag as the rosarita gwen tote by lockheart, so to be given the chance to adorn myself with this would truly be an honour.

I would wear my huge sunglasses and old ripped petticoat from high school with it. The Chemical Brothers “London” would be the background music. I would stride in the business office at my college and write out the summer tuition check with the biggest cursive name flourish. So big I couldn’t read the numbers anymore.

It is classic and chic. It’s design in not overwhelming and it would match perfectly with many of my varied clothing ensembles. It looks like the ideal size to carry textbooks and just about anything else I need in it, which comes in handy for a university student such as myself. Also, as I am a very financially challenged university student this bag would be sometihng I could usually only dream of, and being able to have it, even for a while, would be beyond fantastic!
the marc jacobs stam bag, for sure. It’s the most beautiful, versatile bag ever-just like the girl the bag is named after! The vintage-inspired bag would go with everything i own, day or night. I would use the attachable gold chain when I wanted to feel especially retro-everybody wants to feel hopelessly grand and feminine like the old days! It’s the kind of bag that I would one day (many decades from now) would give to a daughter, if i were to end up purchasing the bag.

I would get the L.A.M.B. Signature Carlisle Oversized Clutch and wear it with single color outfits. Friday evening I would wear a gold pleated skirt with a pale gold top and gold flats with the bag. I would skip across downtown Phoenix, eating frozen yogurt and singing tunes from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
If the bag were a person, her name would be Kora Prince, and she would be the cool girl in school who cheats off you in chemistry but you don’t care because she gives you vegan cookies sometimes and listens to the cure.

I have to say I find the Avelle website quite obnoxious. They are so U.S. centric they don’t even feel the need to acknowledge the rest of the world by stating that the scheme is only for Americans or that they don’t deliver internationally anywhere on the site (bar a tiny mention in a completely unrelated FAQ).

Now I don’t mean to be negative (therefore breaking the rules of your comment posting!) so I think of this more as feedback than a ‘complaint’ but I’m sorry to say am really disappointed by the content lately – I understand you must be busy with your new life in the US & thinking up stuff to create for your podcasts, which is pretty awesome, but most of the content lately is centred around your USA residency & seems to have a slightly more materialistic feel,unlike the very inviting exciting, all-inclusive & global sort of feel that iCiNG used to have.
i find myself visiting less & less & that’s sad, because this website really used to be a daily fix for me :( thanks if you actually read this. x
Natasja — I read & it’s all okay! I get comments like this every now & then. Usually every 6 months there’s a wave of them, I’m kind of used to it now. Which is not to say that your feedback isn’t valuable or useful, because it is, but more I have come to realise how very cyclical things are, & that extends to how my life is changing, how my artistic output is changing & how my readers’ lives are changing! After all, if you’ve been reading since the very beginning (& I think you’ve been reading for almost that long), that’s two & a half years of everyday Gala. It makes sense that after a while it would start to become less interesting or for me & you to diverge paths in some way or another. I’m not the same person I was when I started this, & so the content reflects this.
I am busy with my podcast & book (SO EXCITING!!!) & I am very invested in my new life here in the USA, & so these things impact on what goes on here. But having said that, I still do my best to make sure the content here is fun, interesting, kinda weird, inspiring, cool, etc.
Hopefully at some point you will be engaged by the content once again, but if not, that’s okay… It happens! There are a lot of blogs I don’t read any more because I just lost interest. I’ve been using the same fringed & beaded knapsack for a while now. It’s my favorite bag because I always catch people playing with the fringe between their fingers and leaving little braids in it. Also, whenever I wear it I feel like a little Native American girl that can just as easily catch a fish as skip through a field of flowers. It’s just FUN! So my first handbag would probably be something like my knapsack, like a cute hobo that might be a little out of style. Fashion’s about expression, not the Ins and Outs. Have fun!

The Lieber ‘Finch’ Evening Handbag….positively the sweetest thing I have ever seen! Although I like handbags, I don’t usually fawn over them, but with this one, I almost melted when I found it on the site. Expensive or not, its sweetness makes me happy inside!
When I saw it, the song “Green Finch and Linnet Bird” popped into my head. I’ve always felt that song was about the fact that there is always something good and beautiful in life, something to be celebrated. Even if it feels like we’re trapped, rotting in the darkness behind bars.
The little bird reminds me that there is always a reason to smile, something worth singing about. Whenever I am upset, sometimes all I need is something little to make me think, to make me understand that the apocalypse is not just around the corner. I don’t know what I would put in it, honestly. Maybe it would be a bag where I keep things to make my smile wider on really bad days. My mp3 player and ear buds would go in there, first of all. Music always makes me feel better. Then I would add a small, wedding sized thing of bubbles. I’d put in some flavored lip gloss next, followed by my pocket sized digital camera, a few pictures of important and influential people in my life, and my rainbow “be happy” key chain that I love so much.
Finally, there would always be enough money in the purse to buy some ice cream and soda for a friend and I to enjoy together in a cozy restaurant booth.

After a thorough survey of the entire Avelle site, I’ve decided that one of my favorite pieces is the Hermes Vintage Crocodile Birkin Handbag. I’m a sucker for classics, and the edgy take on a classic shape is just wild enough to take an outfit from boring to brilliant in one swoop! Another of my favorites is the Kate Spade ‘Bilbao’ Quinn Handbag. It is the perfect size for carrying essentials but will not impede posture due to the weight of the bag.
The handbag that I am in love with right now is the ‘Esti’ bow tote by Kate Spade. I love it because it is just as cute, bright and colourful as my life and it would brighten my mood with every passing glance.
I would wear it everywhere – but mainly in the city because it would bring green life to all of the gray and depressing urban districts. It would be called Elsa, not because it is similar to ‘Etsi’ (I decided that before I realised it was called that), but because in my mind Elsa is cute and green and ALWAYS happy.
In it I would carry my little world from my phone and my notepad to the little pieces of cardboard that you spray perfume on that, like the bag, seem to make me deliriously happy. It would be my little piece of sunshine. Because really, who needs a child (or man) when you get all the happiness you need from a bag that good looking?

Ooh, I would get the Karl Lagerfeld one! It looks big enough to fit all my crap in! I would wear it to school, and the contents would include my phone, my iPod, my sketchbooks, an assortment of pens and pencils, all the report cards I haven’t shown my parents, my planner, my quote book, my keys, a bunch of handouts I’ve recieved which I haven’t thrown away yet, ticket stubs, blotting paper, lip gloss, notecards and other study material, chewing gum, and tons and tons of change!
oh, i would choose the Alexander McQueen Elvie Satchel and it would be heaven on earth- it would be sooo amazing to own. i would wear it everywhere.
My first handbag would definetly be the Balenciaga Motorcycle Le Dix bag. Ever since I laid eyes on it, I knew I had to have it! The style of the bag works with my style, meanwhile having a style of it’s own!
This bag is the epitome of New York life, as I am moving to the city in the next few weeks, I would carry all my essentials: camera, phone, ideapad laptop & ipod in it, while trotting the streets of the Village ;_;

My top pick would be Yves Saint Laurent Stamp Tote, because I’ve always adored that brand and this tote is casual, yet it’s very liberal. I would wear it to school and most definitely on hangouts and outings! It’s just perfect to show that I’m on the go like a postcard! hence the stamp tote

At first I was set on the Karl tote – but my heart really belongs to the Yves Saint Laurent Stamp Tote. It reminds me of old letters & secret notes. More so, it reminds me of the time I lived in France – ahhh, memories. That bag is a treasure. Not to mention gorgeous!
I would choose the Moschino Borsa Tracolla Shoulder Handbag for an everyday handbag. It is big enough to hold all my crap without being so large it is unruly, and I love the peacock blue color.
I like the Chloe Leather Tote, very pretty and would be perfect for upcoming occasion!
My first handbag would be Betsey Johnson’s ‘Betsey Be Bad’ satchel. I’d want to start my handbag odyssey out with a bang, and this bag would do the trick. It’s quirky enough to add mega style to any outfit, but good for carrying around schoolbooks and my camera. I’d definitely use it as an excuse to dress to the nines!

I would definitely have to say the Leiber strawberry cupcake. I didn’t leave the website because I figured that everyone knows it. About 90% of my diet consists of sugar so it’s fitting. My most recent tattoo was even a cupcake! I grew up poor so I now have this thing for anything pretty, pink and especially sparkly. Leiber encompasses everything I ever dreamed about as a little girl and now as a quasi grown-up girl.

Oh my goodness I don’t know how to narrow it down to just ONE bag. They have the best of every designer, it’s very hard to choose! Well since I’m a Coach lover, I will say I would go with Coach… Maybe something in the Hamptons line, it’s very sophisticated & feminine IMO.
