Win A Pair Of Shoes From Solestruck!

[ 18 May 2009 ]

Solestruck
I love the Report Masonic!

I said I wasn’t going to write about shoes again for a while, but I couldn’t help it… & if you have any small degree of shoe envy, this should help assuage some of it!

My friends at Solestruck.com are celebrating their switch to international shipping by offering up a free pair of shoes to one lucky nonpareil! (Yes! That means this competition is open to anyone & everyone! EVEN YOU!)

Just take a look through their pages & see what takes your fancy, then tell us about it! What do you like best & why? What’s your style — moccasins? Mary janes? Cowboy boots?! They even have a great selection of men’s shoes now, so don’t be shy! Where would you wear ‘em & who would you seduce? What would you dance to? Who would you sneak up on?!

The winner will be drawn at random on Wednesday, so hop to it — & good luck!

Love letters & feather headdresses,

  2. ooooh shoes!!! I’d choose the black and white striped Steve Madden shoes – I’m going to Paris this summer for a week, I’d wear them with a simple black dress and lots of mystery in a little subterranean bar in the Latin Quarter. Oh yes.

I’d wear them out to a gallery opening with a brown-eyed, broad-shouldered boy and then we’d have coffee at a secluded laneway cafe and solve all the world’s problems. ;)

The Oh Deer! Superstars… They’re perfect for dancing and skipping across stars and stealing hearts on a dark & dank dance floor! (Not to mention, a name like SUPERSTAR can only conjure images of the one & only Mary Katherine Gallagher)

Heels are a bit of an issue because my boyfriend is shorter than me, but who can tell when you’re lying down eh?

  6. In August I leave for Vietnam to teach English, but I’ll be there for a few months teaching and traveling so I most definitely need a pair of Birkenstocks. They would go great with a pair of shorts and flowy Bohemian top as I ride my bike through Can Tho!

  7. OMG LOVE solestruck.com!! Though I have not yet purchased anything through this site, I like to peruse their pages daily! I adore their sorting methods. It makes it so eay to wittle down the wide selection into a more manageable size based on what I am looking forward that day. I typically browse by style (thought you can also browse by size, color and brand), because I can not get enough wedges! For me wedges are the perfect combo of comfort in style because in most wedges I can walk around all day with no discomfort, but still enjoy the height of a heel. At 5’6” and with 3 herniated discs in my back wedges are my go to shoe! I look forward to purchasing something through the site this summer, and based on the recommendations of you and many other bloggers, I am sure the whole experience will continue to impress me! THANKS!!!

  16. These are the kind of boots I would wear with confidence. The sex appeal of wearing them with a mini-skirt, leggings, or short dress would be irrisitable and make me feel like a million dollars. I would wear them with a big black faux fur coat and a short dark green dress—they would look great with my black hair and dark smokey eyes. For a more casual look, I would wear them with fishnets, layered tanks, and dark denim miniskirt along with a ushanka (Russian hat with ear flaps) and plenty of gold jewelry. I would start to plan outfits and my day around the boots and I would convince my boyfriend that I don’t need to take them off to make love…and, when I did have to finally take them off…I am pretty sure I would hug them in my sleep, because I am just that infatuated with them.

  17. OOOH this is fun. Picking what if shoes.
    I would pick there.
    www.solestruck.com/dansko

    For various reasons.
    1. I love the 70’s feel to them and how much they remind me of my mom when I was little.
    2. I walk about 5 miles a day living in the city so I NEED to have comfy shoes that are cute (hot uncomfy ones in purse for when I get to destination) and Danksos are known for comfort.
    3. They would match most things with that color.

Aren’t these Oh Deer! flat delicious? Juicy and scrumptious and a wee-bit vintage inspired, they’re shoes for sitting in the sun on stoop in a little gingham frock, something Humbert Humbert would purchase for his darling Dolores Haze. They are shoes in which to practice putting pincurls in your hair and baking cherry cobblers for becoming Southern boys.

    I love these

    www.solestruck.com/jeffrey#

I hardly ever wear high heels because I’m lazy and get really annoyed when I get sore feet. Although lately I’ve realized that the only reason my feet get sore is because I always buy really cheap, badly made shoes. Seams that cut into your skin, that kind of stuff. I’ve been thinking that I might have to go against my cheapo instincts and actually invest in quality heels. Solestruck and all the awesome & gorgeous heels you wear (how do you do it!?) makes me want to do that. Oh and I want to wear heels because they’re sexy… sore feet not so much.

I would seduce Scott Brackett from Okkervil River (he’s beautiful and plays oh-so-many instruments and the only musician I’ve ever found myself tongue-tied in front of!) and I would dance to jungle-drum beats and acoustic rhythm strums and feedback fuzz and hand claps.

It’s a flat, so it’s perfect for dancing (I am 5’11” in my bare feet and dancing in heels is just out of the question!), and there’s lindyhopping in the shape, skanking to ska in the pattern. Suitable for all dancefloors, methinks!

  36. My roommate is a sensible girl who wears flats all the time. Whenever her sensible boyfriend comes over and sees my meagre collection of high heels (three is not nearly enough) he often gives me grief about how flats are so much more sensible.

“But why do girls wear heels all the time? You can barely walk in them! What’s the point? Why don’t you just wear normal, sensible shoes?”

I have given up trying to explain. Yes, my feet are sore and occasionally blistered, BUT IT IS WORTH IT.

    So I /guess/ what I’m trying to say is…

    Guess. Borda. Bronze.

Who wants to be sensible anyway?

  53. I like statement shoes. The type of shoes that say all the things that I will undoubtedly be too shy to say upon first meeting someone. Shoes that make people think that I’m the type of girl you call when you’ve cooked up some crazy-fun idea in the middle of the night and you just have to try it NOW. If they had shoes that were covered in glitter and cupcakes and spikes, I’d be the girl to make them work. I’m also a tiny little thing (barely 5’0”), so I need some height — and thus, heels, wedges and platforms are my friends.

Although I cold never, ever afford these (I’ve been without any sort of meaningful income for months now), I think these Jeffrey Campbell shoes can speak for me any day: is.gd/B0Va.. Do you hear them? They’re telling you that I’m going to kick your ass, and that you’re really going to like it. ;)

  57. I would LOVE these Enzos— the style is called “Danger,” which is just perfect for me:

    www.solestruck.com/enzo

I graduated college yesterday with a BA in English and Film Studies, and now I’m going to split my summer between bartending and preparing to substitute teach in the fall. These shoes have a tall wooden heel that’s sexy enough for the bar, but still conservative enough to pass in the classroom, in a color that can go easily with my entire wardrobe, seeing as my entire wardrobe is black!

Dream-wise, though, I can see myself perusing jakandjill’s blog for hours picking out the perfect overdramatic, all-black outfit, with a splash of color— maybe ink-blue tights with a black dress, black motorcycle jacket, and a giant black faux-fur scarf— and these shoes, before taking off by train to a film premiere or metal show at Le National in Montreal. They slide off easily, so I could kick them off when I inevitably get stopped at the border (tattoos and a shaved head make me a target for customs agents, I fear).

I would also be 6’2” in these bad boys, which would mean a night of hitting on tall people only (because I play games like that— “Tonight, I will only hit on redheads!” “Tall people!” etc). I could sway the night away with a man of comparative height— hopefully another tall, dark film student— and when I’m too exhausted to move any more, I could kick these shoes off and make him carry me.

Bah! It’s got me all romancified just thinking about it.

    (0) These would be the most perfect shoes for work (I’m a medical student). I’d wear them with my deep blue hospital scrubs and bright red fingernaisl. They look extremely comfortable and adorable without being too loud. I’d definitely be the most stylish person in the hospital…

I’m a barista at Starbucks with a secret workplace romance, and I think that these would be perfect to go from work, to random adventures outside at night, and back to his house for a night of drinking. Probably best worn with medium grey unisex corduroy slim slacks from American Apparel and some oversized and wildly printed shirt.

I model at small runway shows for a designer-friend of mine…this season, I’m presenting a very, very short strapless baby-doll-style satin dress in white, with black leather leggins. so at the next show in june, I’d pair them with that exact pair of report masonics you’re wearing. the show is at a club opposite the one where I work, so after the show, I’d change into tight, tight jeans, my infamous knuckle-duster-beltbuckle and wifebeaters, red lipstick and big hair, and run over to my punkrock-disneyworld. have some shots with my colleagues. dance some. and then, take a taxi to the other side of town where my boy works at a dirty little club. have shots with him and his boss. and demand his boss lets him go right away so he can take me home. ooooh yes.

    I’ll send you pictures!

Their soles are all russled up, there’s holes the bottom, there is zero traction left! What does one do with old cowboy boots? They’re unfixable, and I miss them, but what kind of lady in this day and age has the money for more leather (and not in the BDSM way)? Not me, that’s for sure. You should totally give me these fancy schmancy booties: www.solestruck.com/steve and encourage my dream to become a dread-locked urban cowgirl.

We’d discuss Shakespeare for class and he’d try and convince me to join Guitar for Beginners, but I’d have to refuse because how am I supposed to write if I have callouses on my fingers? I would receive a call at around 11pm, putting on my beautiful Steve Madden Vivvaa shoes , stockings, garter belt and a knee lenght faux fur ooat. I would grab a taxi to the Ritz Carlton give the driver a 200% tip to the drive. Enter the hotel lobby walking directly to the elevator, not making eye contact with anyone in the lobby, but knowing they were all watching me. Hitting the penthouse suite button I would be wisked away to my destination. Upon entering the suite I would find a small silver tray near the door with a neat stack of 100$ bills, I discreetly placed all six in my purse…dropped the coat and made myself comfortable on the high back queen ann style red velvet chair. He soon entered dressed in a stylish Armani tux, having come directly from the awards show. I have finally gathered up the courage, and disiplined myself to save the money, which was very hard, to move from canada to scotland for a year, all on my lonesome. So since I am going to be where nobody knows my name, who I am, and what I’m all about, I’m taking this chance to re-invent myself for the better. I’ve been working out, eating right, booked an appointment to cut and color my hair, and now I am trying to piece together the perfect wardrobe to help me on my conquest, and these would be the perfect edition! They are sexy, unexpected, eye-catching, and edgy, which is everything I want, and deserve, to be. I would wear them with plain old jeans and a fitted sweater or t-shirt, a little black dress and some feirce red lipstick, or a highwaisted skirt, a cute little top and a blazer with the sleeves rolled up a bit. The possibilites are endless! I would dance until sunrise with the new friends that I look forward to making, seduce many a man with their cute accents (how could I not in these shoes? I feel sexy just looking at them!), and even when I am lonesome and homesick, in a stressed out frenzy, or maybe a little lost and confused, I would walk the streets with confidence, because new beginnings need to be celebrated! And I’m fairly certain that these shoes would help me leave my own sassy and sexy mark on europe. :)

  142. Jeffrey Campbell – OAKLEY fringe ankle boots are what caught my eye. The black hippie shape and gold rock studs create such a great contrast and completely embody my somewhat unusual personal style of hippie-rocker. I’m moving to Chicago from Florida this fall, and I’m sad to say that all I currently own are flip flops and sandals! I need a pair of wicked boots to walk through the snow in as I make my way around town, and these are by far the sweetest ones I’ve seen yet! If I win, please know that they will be put to use and a starving artist such as myself would wear them to the bone. Thanks, guys!

Where would I wear them? Everywhere and anywhere: the comfey heel height means I could wear them with denim cutoffs and a vest for strutting around cities and tittering at pretentious art in galleries with my friends or to a warehouse party with a LBD and leather airforce bomber jacket to throw over the top afterwards when sitting outside smoking gauloises and listening to french lovesongs as the sun rises…

The Jeffrey Campbell Mel is such a wicked pair of shoes. They’re totally badass with all the black and silver; I can see myself gearing them up to stomp it out at night in skinny jeans and a leather jacket or with girly accents, pastels with a smudgy, smoky eye and disheveled hair.

I can see them with a simple high-waisted black tulip skirt and a white boat-neck t-shirt and some silver bangles for a coiffed yet tough look. Really I think they’re just fabulous!

Oh my heart raced when I imagined the night out with these lovelies! These shoes just call for a magical yet naughty night. But the somewhat sensible heel would allow for such a night to turn into an 5 am breakfast followed by a sleepover with on of my favorite besties or some hottie boytoy with an Italian accent! Heels would probably remain on (depending on bed company) and may even get me through the next morning of ladies cocktails, brunch, farmers markets and pedicures!

  183. You know, I really wanted to choose something other than the Report Masonic shoes you have on in the picture, but they are my faves! I do like the Jeffrey Campbell Mels, but they seem a little gaudy. The Report ones are just light enough with the studs to be edgy with class. I can see wearing them on a sexy night out dancing and drinking, but also at a little dinner party being oh so classy and sophisticated!

That’s depending on if I’d stop staring at myself in the mirror with them on long enough to make it out the door.

You know, they’d be absolutely perfect wearing nothing BUT them on! All I’d need to do is throw them on, put on some Prince, and seduce myself! hahaha!

However, those Jeffrey Campbell Burbs Chain are a close second. Its a mix of everything awesome! And a good platform- not too high that you’ll fall, just high enough to look intimidating as fuck. :D

They’re kickass awesome – I love anything black and white (and coincidentally, black and white are the only colours I’m allowed to wear at work!) and I’m only 5ft tall so heels are always an essential to me. They’re great because they’re fun without looking ‘unprofessional’ so I’d wear them at work and naturally gain the highest sales for the day – an awesome pair of shoes can give the most amazing amount of confidence. A pair of b!tch please heels would be nice—nice strong spicy black patent complete with ankle grip to ensure successful b!tching (when needed). The small almost-invisible-dark-brown-red sole give others a bit imagination without being too flashy—the ultimate temptation. Leave the audience with a strong lingering impression without forgetting to spoil yourself with self love.

Those. Oh god those. I love patent, I love red, I love mary janes. They look like snow white’s poisoned apple (or a less poisoned candy apple at the fair, I guess!) I’d wear ‘em with pretty much EVERYTHING. Especially stripey socks and foofy skirts. But also on jeans-and-a-hoodie days. Because how could you be sad in the rain with those on your feet?

I would definitely buy the yellow leather Seychelles Yin slingbacks if I could – I would wear them with a fluttery black dress to the drive-in, seduce a waiter, go for ice cream at an outdoor ice cream stand and then take him to a secluded field where we could dance in the moonlight while Ziggy Stardust blasts from the car stereo. 70s style makeout session imminent.

  230. I keep my eyes closed as I wake up. I took a deep breath. This day feels, smells, tastes so familiar.

Its that time of year again. The first day of my junior year. I open my eyes. Its so early. Its still dark out.

I walk to my closet. I pick out the perfect black t-shirt of my favorite band (at this time, who knows what it will be,),a black studded belt, and red short shorts.

I match it with the wonderful Jeffrey Capmpbell Mel shoe(http://www.solestruck.com/jeffrey-campbell-mel-black-leather/index.html#)to add some extra edge.

I add some dark eyeliner and make sure my bangs are straight, as with the rest of my hair.

I grab my bag and my clarinet and I’m good to go.

When I get on the bus, the hottie that’s always looked back last year doesn’t hesitate to keep his head turned my way the whole bus ride.

I walk into school and nobody recognizes who I am. “Who’s that girl?” “Is she new?” “Woah.”

I put on dark black sunglasses and bask in the glory of the mystery of a new look.

Finally, the boy of my dreams comes over. “Do I know you?” he asks.

“Possibly. I know you want to,” I add, peeking over my aviators.

    He smiles.
    I give him my number.

New shoes. New look. New hair. New body.
    New is lucky.
    Change is the only constant.
How curious. How a single pair of shoes can evoke such brilliance. Such power. Such energy…..

    Such confidence.

  233. The Report Bostons. A.K.A. the boots of my dreams.

    www.solestruck.com/report

It would be an understatement to say that I have an obsession with all kinds of leather boots – ankle booties, flat boots, heels, etc. I die at the sight at them all! This one is perfect; my current pair is similar but not as chic (or expensive!). The perfect heel, the perfect silhouette… yes, I die.

I imagine myself as my Parisian alter ego. A stylist and fashion editor for Vogue Paris or Jalouse, who, on my off days, drinks Parisian coffee (black) and un petit croissant avec chocolat. Skinnies, an off-the-shoulder butterfly sleeve top in black revealing a bit of decolletage. My typical look, if you will. And in that little cafe, whilst checking my blackberry obsessively for emails and flipping through the latest issue of Vogue Paris. Along will come some handsome photographer who snaps away at my shoes, whose flash catches my attention.

I put my blackberry down on the table and peer at him. His large camera, an antique, hides his face. All I see is frumpled hair. He looks up. “Pardon…euh, mon francais est tres terrible…” I smile knowingly and tell him I’m just a mere American who attempts to speak the language but murders its beautiful, lyrical rhythm. He seems to sigh in relief and introduces himself as a British – already I’m in love with his face – a bit rugged but still soft – and his accent. He asks about the shoes.

“Oh, they’re Reports. From Solestruck – I’m still a bit reluctant with parting with thousands on a designer shoe.” I laugh nervously.

He jots it down quickly in his notebook and smiles. “I like a sensible woman.” He continues asking questions and slips in, nonchalantly, “And will you be free tonight so I can take you out?”

I pause, not sure if I heard the question right. He smiles warmly. “S’il vous plait?

“Oui,” I smile a bit coquettishly. “Yes!”

It all begins with a pair of shoes. =]

  235. Well hello…
As I wear black all the time (and I don’t feel that I should change it. Yer:D) my choice of shoes reflects it, too. So I picked some pairs. Lets see…

    1. www.solestruck.com/nina#
These shoes seem to be extremely comfortable. I believe that I’d wear these every day as I have to walk a lot. They would perfectly match my big and comfy black cardigan and black shorts. Imagine – a sunny morning, it 7.30 AM and I’m walking to school. Morcheeba’s “Rome wasn’t built in a day” is playing and I am ready to start a new day…

    2. www.solestruck.com/jeffrey – the holy s**t kind of shoes. I have many black minidresses and these would look extremely sexy. As I am working in a company bringing great metal bands to Estonia I have to look good in the concert day. Therefore these would be my first choice. Another ones with the same description would be these:http://www.solestruck.com/jeffrey-campbell-burbs-black-silver/index.html or www.solestruck.com/baby#
And it doesn’t matter that I have to stay on feet for 18 hours or more (:. I’d look so good that later I’d go to a party anyway.

    3. www.solestruck.com/nina
Once in a year, in December our school celebrates it’s anniversary. The most important event is the ball. Great artist, stunning dresses, handsome boys. If wearing black color in such amounts as I do you definitely have to add some details. These shoes would be the ones. I would even take the dance classes… (:

  248. Lana had been watching the cute skater boys across the street for weeks now. The click clack of the wheels on the concrete, their shouts and highfives. She was a well-heeled girl with the Louis Vuitton purse and all the ‘right’ clothes. You wouldn’t see her in an East Village dive bar – only the best art galleries with a brooding older man as arm candy. She was far too good to be hanging around these parts.

But one stood out. The moody one, with the hoodie pulled up around his ears, the skinny jeans. The cool sneakers. Too young? Probably. In need of a haircut? Most definitely.

Lana was in a need of a shake-up. A new direction. With renewed purpose, she strode (ok, tottered, you don’t treat Louboutin pumps with such disgrace) down the sidewalk and withdrew her credit card with a flourish.

She was going to learn to skateboard – but not without style.

I would wear them every single day, with a dress and floral tights for a girly look, with a miniskirt and vest top with fishnets just to kick some ass.

I would wear them whilst shopping, cleaning, eating, flirting. I would wear them out dancing in Camden, London, with spectacular stockings, a frilly skirt and a corset. I’d be wearing bright red lipstick and smoky black eyeshadow, and when someone complimented my look I’d say “You think that’s good, you haven’t even seen my shoes yet!”
I would dance all night to glam rock and indie music, and revel in the idea that I won’t have to take my shoes off at the end of it and take the train at dawn barefoot.

I would buy a new matching underwear set, something lacy and decadent, and wear them knowing that even if no-one else could see it, I am playing to every aspect of my personality, just through my style. The lady, the whore, the fragile flower and the bitch goddess, all of them incorporated into one outfit and set off by my fabulous boots.

The thing is, in summer, I wear flip- flops. In winter, I wear slippers. But then comes that time when I have to go out and go “uh-oh” and have to take out my grandma’s turquoise old sneakers or something as horrendous. So every time, when searching for shoes I just go to the practical. But not today!

I’m a petite little girl (5’1”) so I need dominant rawr shoes to speak for me before I kick somebody’s ass – which is exactly what I would do if I had them. No bar hopping for me, I’d go straight to the Netherlands and tell my best friend’s exam partners exactly what I thought of them skimping out of work and leaving her to do it all. 266. Dear Gala,

I recently opened my closet doors and to my utter horror, I realized that I have not a single pair of shoes. Well, that isn’t totally true. I do happen to have a few pairs: sneakers for the gym, flip flops for the beach and some smelly old Converse leftover from middle school. What I mean to say is that I have not a single pair of suitable shoes. What I’ve learned from you is that one way to feel my best is to look my best. So, in an effort to improve myself, I’ve decided to improve my shoe collection. Functional but still sartorial, I’ve decided to choose the Report Valerie www.solestruck.com/report boots. Personified, these boots would be smart, strong but still sweet. I would pair them with sheer black tights, a mustard silk skirt and a drapey black tank top.

I hope these boots were made for walking (with me in them!).

I have a pair of brown suede mocs, but they are nearly 6 years old, have traveled with me all over the world, and have seen better days. Time for something new!

I would wear them to school with a funky little summer dress, and would watch people giving me stares while walking down the hallway. After school I would hang out with some friends at a coffee shop to hang and do homework, and end the day with a trip to a nice restaurant with a cute, geeky boy.

And so, I would get the Betseyville Lenore http://www.solestruck.com/betseyville-lenore-black/index.html and wear them EVERYWHERE.

I would wear them shopping with my girliepals and drunk-taunting on Friday nights downtown. I would wear them on messy cold wintery days in my northerly midwestern city, when all my other cute shoes leak. I would wear them with nothing but lacy underwear and a Mighty Mighty Bosstones t-shirt and seduce my boy o’ the moment.

I’ve been needing these 80s inspired cut-out flat boots for some time! Since it’s winter I’d wear them with white knitted tights, a floaty vintage dress and my leopard print coat. I’d wear them to get tattooed, feed the red pandas at the zoo (which I did the other day, yuss), build sandcastles, eat macaroons, drink cocktails and to fly to exotic locations.

  309. Decisions decisions. Is it the too cool for words pull on wedge boot by Eighty Twenty www.solestruck.com/eighty# ? or is it the wooden heeled, black leather pumps with Louboutin-esque red soled pumps by Jeffrey Campbell www.solestruck.com/jeffrey# ? No, I think it’s the Barb by Jessica Simpson in Ivory Clean Snake www.solestruck.com/jessica# . First off, these are sexy ass shoes with that hippie edge that I love in the wooden soles/heels. They are my requisite 4 inches that I love and rock even though I check in at 5’10 barefoot. They are SNAKESKIN. Oh and Jessica S makes some incredibly comfy heels in my opinion. The biggest attraction of these shoes is that I have been looking for the perfect pair of nude heels for months. I want that Angelina Jolie look where I’m all leg! But until I laid eyes on these babies, I hadn’t found a pair that fit my personality. These do! They are just as quirky and sexy and eccentric as me, but the nude would let me rock them with everything from my jeans to my business suit and still always fit in! Sort of like me in any crowd!

These shoes. They are perfect. They look like the mutant baby of a pixie and a drag queen. I bet you put them on and fairy dust starts spurting out your nose and you involuntarily start dancing.

In all seriousness, though, they are the prettiest, most wonderful shoes I have seen in a long, long time. I would wear them with long socks and a little silver dress and put sparkles on my eyes. It would be most magical.

    www.solestruck.com/baby

I personally love pumps and boots the most, especially since I’m short and always welcome the added height. :D

I would wear these babys all year long—who cares about not wearing white after labor day? And I would rock them with an icy snow queen look, since that’s clearly what they’re made for. Maybe some white skinny jeans and a long black coat, or mini skirt with white fuzzy sparkles along the edges. I could honestly wear these with any outfit and that’s why I love ‘em.

My other choice was Vince Camuto’s Maran, (http://www.solestruck.com/vince-camuto-maran-black-rug-patent-tech-print/index.html) but alas, they were too plain in comparison to those Baby Phat’s.

  355. I have too many and I need some more, sexy shoes, but my absolute favourite kind of show is a cute wedge with a funky design. I love them! Plaid, skulls, polka dots, tacky shiny pleather, soft and velvety suede, natural materials woven, glitter glitter glitter! I could wear wedges all the time. The bonus is, as a shortie, I can wear taller heels and still have them be walkable in wedges!

I have a pair of red wedges that were so comfortable, I wore them around all day and didn’t notice the blisters forming! I don’t know how it’s possible, but it happened. And those blisters only took a few days to heal, unlike the weeks-long marathon blisters I get from some of my flats!

I’ve been looking at all the adorable wedge boots, and I’m in love with the Baby Phat Galmours. Oh yea, they’re over the top. I’d slid them on and go dancing, and laugh at the girls trying to kick through the snow in strappy sandals and flats. I wouldn’t try to seduce anyone, but I wouldn’t be able to help it with my smooth moves, helped by the balance I’d get from having a wedge-style heel. I’d flirt with the waitresses only to get a free shot and stares from the men at the next table over….

They’re shoes to wear when you’re listening to Bob Marley in the park while you work on your next article or next novel or next song and a beautiful boy walks up to you and the next thing you know, you have a salsa date, with the dance & the condiment both. Time for the great shoe debate!
Boots of suede or cow hide?

Back a page, back a page,
Lost in the world of shoes.
    They represent your age
and show just how much you’re willing to lose.

    Ballerina? Flats for dancin’!
Cinderella? Glass slippers will make you shine!
    Going country? Boots for prancin’!
Rockstar? Star-studdin’ heels make you ultra fine!

They define who you are, ya know.
    The shoes you wear
show what you do, where you go.
But they’re so expensive, it’s just not fair!

That’s why Gala, said hey yo mis amigas!
    Opportunity’s knockin’!
It’s as bright as the auriga!
    And time’s a tick tockin’.

So in a panic, I headed on over to solestruck.
Shoes, shoes, shoes. So many to chose!
    Gaping at the screen…well fuck!
If I don’t decide on at least one, I’ll surely lose!

    Let’s say I win.
I’d grab a pair of “Betseyville Janae’s” in green.
    Then I’d wear them.
Yes, I know, I’m that obscene.

    Perhaps that won’t work out…already sold…
How sad…I wanted them so bad!
But then I could get the “Steve Madden Sienna” in gold!

I really really love the “princess grace” shoes by sugar somehow they evoke alice in wonderland for me and I’d wear with a very Alice-an floaty dress cutjust above the knee , an enormous red bow and a lovely silver brooch shaped like a rabbit and rather obviously I would throw an alice themed tea-party with mismatched china , crumpets , scones ,clotted cream and my grandmas home-made strawberry jam – and of course red velvet cupcakes. then for day to day adventuring I’d wear them with beige capri’s , various red and earth toned tops and chunky Egyptian jewelry

  411. My feet are so small, my choices have been narrowed down to running shoes and kid shoes.
Yes, kid shoes. But kid shoes are amazing for they are whimsical, sparkly and everything a grown up wishes they could wear on their shoes.

my choice would have to be the Exchange by Charles David Lyric in Bronze Metallic Kid Canvas.
The sandals with the wonderful sparkly dragonfly holding them together with the turquoise insole.

I would wear these shoes out to a boardwalk or somewhere beachy. These shoes would look great with little flowers in my hair and my pretty brown floral and cream mini dress (also a wonderful find from the kids section!).
When people on the beach asked me where I got my shoes, I would have to say Solestruck.com and that they are most likely not in your size, for they are made for little tiny elf people like me.

But this time I need to splash some glam around in the grey weather and I pick SILVER! I will wear this in the office and in the rain, to add a sparkle where it’s needed most.

Or with my favourite t-shirt and a pair of black jeans as a hooray-I-have-cute-shoes pick-me-up at university. I seriously couldn’t choose between the Jefrey Campbell ‘Flawless’ black boots, Steve Madden ‘Madalynn’, Steve Madden ‘Vulture’ and Oh Deer! ‘Strata’. I’d probably go for Steve Madden ‘Madalynn’, because they have just enough attitude, they’re leather, they’re not too fancy to wear during the day aswell as at night, and they’re just beautiful.

I would totally wear them with a beige drapey dress that is hitched up at the front (like Sass & Bide dresses, in order to show adequate leg, and show off the heels), with a vintage belt and bed hair waves. I would send an anonymous letter to my man, to meet me at a fairy light garden in the city, where I would make his heart skip a beat by asking him to marry me, before hitting the town for some celebratory food and some fun flirtatious drinks in the bars of Melbourne. Topped of with a nice hotel room, of course.

I love these black studded gladiator sandals. They are perfect. I could dress them up or down, just like the perfect LBD or black pumps.

I could easily wake up, throw on some cutoffs and a burnout tank, slip these babies, grab my bag and be on my way into town. Perfect for casual days at the library, grocery store, and school.

I could pair them with a studded bikini and rock them at the beach.

I love that I could wear them out to dinner, too. All I’d need is a black mini skirt and some flashy top, smoky eyes, red or nude lip and some bed head.

I could even spice up my conservative outfits with these lovely shoes. A sweet little black cardigan, grey tank, and black flouncy skirt would be a like edgier with these Jeffery Campbell beauties. The only other thing I’d need would be some rocking gold rings and stellar earrings to finish it all off.

And thanks for holding this contest, Gala. This has turned me on to Solestruck and the fantastic Jefferey Campbell. My bank account might want some words with you, though.

What a great opportunity to try out an amazing pair of heels without the price tag! I would definitely enjoy this pair of Jeffrey Campbell’s Burbs with studs.

They’re definitely not boring and that’s something I’d love to inject in my wardrobe! But that’s the thing with shoes and clothes, it’s just an outward expression of one’s self. With this pair, I’m stepping out of my shell!

Even though this isn’t very exciting, I would wear these: www.solestruck.com/steve# to work, out, and anywhere else I feel like going! They look cute and also seem like I could stand in them for a while without my feet screaming at me.

The Fuchia Popcorn RocketDogs are perfect for stealth, skinny jeans, and silliness. 3 amazing attributes to obtain. I think if I owned these, I would put in far more effort in the silliness section, I may run around spaztically for a while, and the spazzy would be inspired by the gorgeous fuchia, and the way the boots seem like they could stay on even if I’m dancing like a loon!

  482. Jeffrey Campbell- MEL or CAUSE

Yes, two options because I’m greedy and indecisive like that. Also, with my shoe wardrobe greatly diminished after giving a pile away to charity, it’s time to rebuild I say!

In any case, the ‘Mel’s’ would work for the impractical side of me that my mother is always lecturing me about. After many years of mummy-darling-dearest (I love you Mum) picking out ‘appropriate’ shoes – read: grandma shoes and the weird sporty clunkers that she seems so unhealthily attached to, I think these babies will make a REAL statement. Rebel!

Or the idiosyncratic ‘Cause’ boots. Having moved to windy Wellington from lovely warm Australia, I find that I am seriously underdressed. Battling the cold, harsh, unforgiving Winter doesn’t work so well in sandals. The CAUSE will satiate my eccentric tastes, as well as keep my twiggy extremities comfortable and cosy as I gallivant the city. Perfecto!

Thanks for the lovely opportunity! Good-luck to everyone. :)

  486. A lot of the Jeffrey Cambell shoes are gorgeus, but I think I’d have to go for the Mels – I’d prance around in them at work and sit cross legged at my desk in front of the entrance to show them off. When I’m off I’ll smuggle out a couple of bottles of the booze we’re testing, make a quick change into my superhero outfit, and meet with my girlfriends in the park. Later we’ll go dancing at our ususal club, having loads of fun in our costumes. When we go home we’ll pick up some freshly baked bread, eat breakfast in our garden next to the forest while the sun is rising, and finally we’ll drop dead in my king size bed!

Now I’m a confident, single young woman working as an accoutant to the main director of my company.

Our debut would take place in the bedroom, in front of my leaning mirror. Just us, pretending to be a rockstar – stomping around amidst Hole. Three hours later we’d switch over to some ABX mashups, to make us feel omnipotent and divine. (We like to experience ecstasy when we get dressed, Report Masonic and I.) Grabbing cans of spray paint and menstrual-blood-red lipstick, we’d paint messages of hope across the land and leave heart-wrenching lust poems scrawled in rouge upon every bathtub encountered. Our swansong would commence during a thunderstorm, as we waltzed out our frustration at dishonesty. Then, once sore-throated from screaming our dreams out loud, we’d dissolve into a sea of magnolias, at last ready to sleep sweet.

Dancing down the isle for my upcoming graduation, knowing that my feet are the prettiest there. And then promptly out and about in some (muddy) field for the reception. Mud crabs. Yum! After much much much deliberation I have decided that no, I do not have too many boots, and have quite a crush on the Roxy Rock On boots… I adore the shape, the giant Roxy logo on the back is sort of cheesy, but I’m sure I could pick it off. I would wear these with my favorite dark wash skinny jeans, and my blue & yellow plaid shirt dress. I would saunter (note: these boots are not for walking! They’re for sauntering!) down to the beach on a hot summer’s night (ok, maybe change those pants to a denim skirt!) and drink beers around a bonfire with my favorite people. They would also accompany me to the carnival, to breakfast after being up all night, to the museum, and well… everywhere! They’re darling!

  543. I’d wear the Guess Teddie black leather boots with a short black skirt and red lacy top to seduce Mr. President Obama. I’d probably be able to seduce anyone in those things!

Or I’d wear the Guess Ilonna’s with a short purple dress that hugs my awesome curvy body to go dancing in, I’d make guys necks ache from turning to look at me so much ;-)

I have a shoe obsession too Gala, don’t worry, we’ll get through it together lol.

I would wear the Jeffrey Campbell Burbs (http://www.solestruck.com/jeffrey-campbell-burbs-black-silver/index.html) with a leather mini skirt and a baggy man’s vest to seduce the singer of Kings of Leon, and dance the night away. Or alternativly, with a leather miniskirt and a corset to investigate the S&M shops and clubs in Soho.

They would be great for trekking around the Czech Republic this summer… plus, I’ve always wanted a pair of Birkenstocks! Seems like a silly dream shoe, I know, but I’ve been infatuated with them since I was just a wee one.

  547. Woohoo!! I hope I’m not too late!

Although I adore many of the fancypants high heels that many non pareils featured in thier comments, I’m going to take a pass and go for something that I really need: www.solestruck.com/new

These babies! I don’t know if they colour scheme is more “coral and blue” or “flesh and vein,” but in any case, they’re absolutely perfect. PERFECT! I would not only wear these shoes while running, but whilst spontaneous adventuring! I could climb trees, pretend to do backflips, skip instead of walk and do all sorts of things. I might ask a super-cute boy to go hiking with me, and then we’d get ice cream (and it would be free cone day at Ben and Jerry’s!), and then we’d both say “weelll, I suppooose I should get some work done” but suddenly later on that night, we’d find ourselves eating schwarmas while sitting on the curb. Probably drunk.

Plus, being a extraordinarily long and lank (6’2), and having very long and narrow feet, NB is one of the very few brands that fits me, so I have a special place in my heart for them.

I looked and fell in love with several shoes, but the ones that have my heart feeling perfection have to be these delectable wedges!

  557. I am IN LOVE with the Jeffrey Campbell Lite shoes…!

They’re perfect for me and my style because they’re a little high fashion, and a lot of rock and roll. I really enjoy mixing up subtle, casual pieces with intense shoewear and accessories, and these shoes are definitely IT for me! Why wear your heart on your sleeve when you can wear chains on your feet! XD

These would be great for clubwear or trendy gala opening events— which in LA, where I reside, there are plenty of! They totally shake my bacon and I would wear those puppies out every chance I could!

  558. i’m also in love with the Report Masonics!
they’re not only perfect because of their high-fashion versatility but definitely have a punk-rock sort of edge to them! They’re definitely for me, a little bit hard and edgy but definitely sexy.

I would wear those babies any chance i get and find any excuse to pair them with everything in my closet!

  559. Bonjour, Gala!
Ever since I read your journal and other fashion sites, magazines and stuff, i created my own style. Everyone think that it’s incredibly original. I’ve been wearing only Converse and Vans shoes, but now im 17 years old and I want something more sexy! Like high heels. I like those:
    www.solestruck.com/baby
I can walk easily in high heels- i’ve tried. I can wear those with my tight ripped jeans, my shiny leggings and my grey multifunctional oversized pullover. And you should know, if you give me those shoes they won’t be just one more pair in my wardrobe, they will be special!

    xoxo,
    Marge!

  567. im starting college in a new state and university next semester so i want something easy to walk in that stands out!
i would pick something that stands out and is colorful like a betseyville wedge! and pair it with a cute skirt tsshirt and equally bright blazer or light cardi, with floral headband

I would pick the Janae shoes by Betseyville, in Blue- They’re adorable! I love the zipper bow, its cute and really unique. I’ve always liked pretty pumps that look nice, but still stand out a bit, with some kind of flair that makes them interesting and creative.

As my boyfriend likes to point out, I have more shoes than I need…but I can’t help it, I love them! When I wear a good pair of fabulous shoes, it brightens my day, and I really do feel like I could conquer the entire world

  571. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win either the Jeffrey Campbell Burbs Chain or Studs shoe, or even the Jeffrey Campbell Lite! I LOVE all 3 of those shoes, yet going to a university from a community college in the fall means that I have to save up (I am graduating in less than 24 hours, as soon as I stop looking at shoes and finish up my 25-30 page research paper on the roles of gender throughout American literature lol I can’t help it!!)

I love these shoes because they’re so tough yet fashionable! I’d wear them with everything in my wardrobe! I wear a lot of skinny jeans & have a really funky kinda edgy girly-punkish style. all of the shoe styles mentioned above would definitely compliment my style & make me so happy!

thanks for this awesome opportunity! i just discovered & subsribed to your blog!

  572. Oh the Baby Phat shoes totally killed me; I had to recover from an epileptic fit about 6 times.

I’m so glad this is open to everyone. Where I live, shoes don’t get crazier than a pair of animal-print platforms from RIver Island. And boots just don’t go with the perpetual summer weather.

    I love love love these:
    www.solestruck.com/baby#

Perfect for school, even more perfect to hit the clubs after, dancing to Ne-Yo for 7 hours straight. And the pink sole? Totally seals the deal. Not everyone can afford a pair of Prada or Balenciaga but I believe anyone can/should own a pair of awesome shoes. I, am in love.

I’d go to a wild, magical springtime pagan gathering in the woods and trot in them all over the muddy mountainside with my friends and lovers. At night, when the drumming started, I’d kick them off and dance maniacally til dawn.
