Daily Outfit, 31st January 2007.

(Like the sneak preview of me at my desk?)

<3 Navy blue silk headscarf (from my mother)
<3 Blue-framed sunglasses (given to me by my friend Amanda at Burning Man last year)
<3 Super-cheap t-shirt from generic chainstore
<3 Gold vinyl high-waisted pencil skirt (from my friend Ana)
<3 Black open-toed slingbacks
<3 Three thin metal bracelets, watch from Fossil, ‘Black Onyx’ nailpolish by O.P.I., string of black beads

I’m going for a Parisian theme recently. I think it’s because of the black manicure — I feel that the only people who really carry this off effectively are either the French, goths or emo kids (& I would prefer to feel French). The black takes some getting used to. I haven’t had my nails this colour since I was actually, ahem, goth. (Don’t tell anyone.) At first I did, indeed, feel like Goth Hands McGotherson, but now I like it. I think the way to do is to set it with a lot of gloss & keep it immaculate. Also I think that if my nails were pointed, rather than the square shape that they are, they would definitely be veering into goth territory.

I did a wardrobe clean-out a couple of days ago, & am re-evaluating a whole lot of things I barely wear. Like, for example, this skirt. Previously I never wore it because the top & bottom 5cm of the skirt are unlined, meaning in summer it stuck to me — but I think that with a bit of jiggery-pokery in the petticoat department, I can fix that problem. Seems to be working thus far.

I feel very glamorous. I think it’s the lipstick (M.A.C. Red). Wearing red lipstick more often was one of my style resolutions for the year. I think I’m doing very well.

Daily Outfit -- 24th January 2007

Daily Outfit, 24th January 2007.

This is what I wore to buy a lamp & a salad!

<3 Shirt from Zara (Norway)
<3 Purple polka-dot tie from H&M (Norway)
<3 Black super-flares from some weird shop in Camden (London)
<3 Black pyramid-stud belt (San Francisco)
<3 Platform New Rocks (also from Camden but bought about three or four years apart)
<3 Purple bunny ears from a toyshop in Wellington (New Zealand) — they don’t call me bunnyhead for nothin’!
<3 I am also wearing Parfait Amour eyeshadow from MAC (I love to match my eyeshadow to my accessories) & Miss Dior Cherie perfume.

I planned this outfit out yesterday (I saw the tie in my drawer & realised I had never even worn it!), thinking it would be too hot to wear & I would die of heat exhaustion. Ha! The weather is behaving beautifully, it is windy & procellous & my outfit is perfect. I forgot how to knot my tie but thankfully Google came to the rescue & gave me a diagram. Phew. Half-windsor ahoy!

I’m also wearing Miss Dior Cherie perfume for the first time in ages. It was created while John Galliano was listening to “My Cherie Amour” by Stevie Wonder, apparently! (Hey, that’s now three times I’ve mentioned Stevie Wonder on here!) I received it last year around Christmas, which, coincidentally was one of the most exciting romantic periods of my life. So now, whenever I wear it, I feel really gorgeous, desired, happy & free. The reviews I’ve read of it call it “boy bait” (seriously!) & say, “Miss Dior Cherie will grab you, dance around you in circles, and leave you craving for more” — from here. Anyway, it’s true. You should test it out.

This outfit is great, no complaints, I feel great!

Daily Outfit -- 23rd January 2007

Daily Outfit, 23rd January 2007

<3 Black foofy dress from Laurie Foon
<3 ‘The Witches’ t-shirt (from Dangerfield)
<3 Pink striped head-scarf
<3 Black pyramid-stud belt
<3 Big round sunglasses (I like them & I don’t give a damn what you think!)
<3 Black peeptoe slingback heels with stacked wooden heel

Very comfortable outfit. Didn’t feel like getting too dressed up today, & I haven’t left the house except to go to Starbucks! The sunglasses are the best part of the outfit, they make me feel invincible (as I said in my article on sunglasses, that’s what they should do). The only problem with the ensemble is that the waist of the dress hangs very low, & the t-shirt shrunk in the wash (GRRRR!) meaning it is now too short for my torso! The belt kind of helps, but still, it’s not perfect. I need a wider selection of t-shirts. Might be time to hit up the vintage men’s t-shirt section on Ebay…

Daily Outfit -- 19th January 2007

[ 19 January 2007, 23:58 ]

Daily Outfit, 19th January 2007.

This is what I wore to the Midsumma Fest last night in Federation Square.

<3 Druid dress by Technodolly

I bought this dress off Ebay last wear to wear at Burning Man. Technodolly is a genius & her work comes highly recommended & endorsed by me! The dress was made in colours I specified & to my exact measurements. It’s full length with a slight tail & a long pixie hood down the back. I looooove it. I actually didn’t wear it at BM a lot, but it is fantastic on & I thought a gay/lesbian festival was a good place to trot it out. Turns out I was hugely over-dressed — though some drag queens gave me a run for my money — but I was complimented by scores of saucy lesbians, so it was worth it!

I started off wearing jandals/thongs/flip-flops in the same colour as the blue in the dress, but on my way home I threw them out because they gave me blisters EVERY TIME I wore them. I decided enough was enough! Suffering for fashion is okay but it has to be worth it! Also, I <3 my bindi.

Daily Outfit -- 18th January 2007

Daily Outfit, 18th January 2007.

<3 Long black thin cotton knit hoodie by Laurie Foon
<3 “Death of the Bunny Girl” t-shirt from Topshop, which I wear all too often
<3 Spiderman boy undies
<3 2 different PVC shoes

This is my I’m-a-slacker-&-I’m-not-planning-on-leaving-the-house-today outfit. Though I might go out & get some coffee soon. The underpants aren’t mine. I have been eyeing them up for a long time, but could never find anything to coordinate them with since they’re so visually busy. Most frustrating! Anyway, I finally realised that something with a bit of length in a solid colour was my best bet, & lo & behold! — it worked.

Apparently some of you want to see my haircut… so here it is. I am still trying to work out how to style it. It’s so short! My initial panic is over. I no longer feel like a boy — instead I feel like Twiggy without the eyelashes, gamine & strangely grown-up. I have no emo combover to hide behind for the first time in years! I guess it was time to move on.
