Daily Outfit, 23rd January 2007

<3 Black foofy dress from Laurie Foon
<3 ‘The Witches’ t-shirt (from Dangerfield)
<3 Pink striped head-scarf
<3 Black pyramid-stud belt
<3 Big round sunglasses (I like them & I don’t give a damn what you think!)
<3 Black peeptoe slingback heels with stacked wooden heel

Very comfortable outfit. Didn’t feel like getting too dressed up today, & I haven’t left the house except to go to Starbucks! The sunglasses are the best part of the outfit, they make me feel invincible (as I said in my article on sunglasses, that’s what they should do). The only problem with the ensemble is that the waist of the dress hangs very low, & the t-shirt shrunk in the wash (GRRRR!) meaning it is now too short for my torso! The belt kind of helps, but still, it’s not perfect. I need a wider selection of t-shirts. Might be time to hit up the vintage men’s t-shirt section on Ebay…

Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala <3

  1. I wonder if you have ever been to Retrostar in the city. It seems like your kind of place. Though sometimes it can be a little pricey.

  2. Hi Kat. Yeah, I have, but I’ve never bought anything. I’m not very good with vintage! I don’t really have the patience to go through racks of paisley & I lack the sewing nous required to alter anything that is imperfect. I tend to have better luck in stores that sell “pre-loved” designer stuff. Less crap to wade through :D I haven’t seen any of those in Melbourne, but I’m sure they exist… do you know?

  3. I go to Retrostar mainly for the vintage guys tees, I still wear ones I bought about ten years ago!
Another store I like is American Rag, but that can too involve searching for hours. Though you can find some pretty impressive stuff. I’ve noticed that if you tell the lady there what you’re looking for and your size, she magically conjures up all these gorgeous outfits. Might be worth a try?
Otherwise there’s a designer op-shop in Greville St, Prahran but whether you find anything worth buying depends on the day you go.

  4. Oh, thank you! I definitely need to check out the place in Prahran. I haven’t made it out there yet… & hell yes to the vintage boy’s tees, I should go & have a rummage. It’s so close to my house, there is really no excuse :>

  5. I’m so jealous of where you live! I was born at QV :)

You must definitely do Prahran/Windsor, it is my most favourite ever. A fun excursion even if you don’t pick anything up!
