Hello! My name is Gala Darling. I’m a New Zealander living in New York City with my husband, Mike, & our two dogs, Hank & Dolly. They are the lights of my life. I love being an international playgirl (read: obsessive travelling!), taking lots of pictures, & really big shoes!
I started galadarling.com in 2006. Initially I intended for it to be a fashion blog, but it has grown to be so much more than that! My passion is teaching women how to fall in love with themselves… & how to have fun at the same time!
I believe in searching for the magic in every day. Once you’ve trained your eye, you can’t help but delight in seeing the small & extraordinary things that surround us. Enthusiastic gratitude & appreciation for the present moment are part of my essential practices. I chronicle these moments in my weekly Things I Love Thursday column.
“Gala Darling has the sexiest combination of style, high-life & heart that’s out there. I don’t know of another international playgirl preaching radical self love from such a sizeable digital pulpit, with as much glitter & as much sincere care…” (Danielle LaPorte)
I am one of the headmistresses at The Blogcademy. Simply put, we travel the world teaching bloggers how to be better! You can see which events are coming up soon. We’d love to have you… Remember to #BYOE (bring your own ears)!
My monthly column, Hello, Darling!, appears in the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Canberra Times, Brisbane Times & WA Today. It’s about women, happiness & health. I post excerpts here but if you just can’t wait, you can read the archives!
I have a regular spot on TVNZ’s Good Morning show as a cultural correspondent (& New York ambassador!). You can see the archive of past appearances here!
In a past life, I was the Beauty & Style Editor for xoJane, Fashion Editor for Red Bull’s (now sadly defunct) cultural magazine, ChinaShop, & a fashion columnist for Cosmopolitan Australia.
I am an ENFP & a Seven. Astrologically, my Sun & Mercury are in Virgo, my Moon is in Sagittarius & my Venus & Mars are in Leo. I am a Water Pig.
We can be friends on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest & Twitter! Fun, huh?!
