We had such a damn good time on our Rent Patina shoot that I couldn’t resist sharing this behind-the-scenes video with you!
Shot by Courtney Arcese of Love + Brain Films, it features gigantic arrows, confetti, disco balls, excited firefighters, spinning parasols, and more Pinterest-worthy moments than you can shake a stick at!
Enough preamble… Roll the clip!
Always throwing confetti in my mind,
P.S. Radical Self Love Bootcamp is on sale for ONE MORE WEEK before it disappears into the ether! Don’t miss out!

What a bloody mad & fabulous year it’s been. I just looked back through my photos from 2012 & it’s all quite astounding. Sometimes you don’t realise exactly how much you’ve done until it’s all over!
So let’s do a little recap, shall we?
Mike & I rang in the new year in all our finery, which of course included mouse ears (for me, at least!).
Shortly afterwards, I flew to Salt Lake City to speak at Alt Summit. It was my first time there, & I was so delighted by the whole thing. What a fun event… & great vintage shopping, too! (I bought this leopard coat there & proceeded to wear it all year!)
That same month, I was featured on the cover of a Japanese magazine!
I dyed my hair black just in time to speak at Social Media Week in New York City…
...& promptly flew to Las Vegas to get into plenty of trouble with Kat & Shauna!
We had good times at the Circus Circus…
...& hanging out on the back of an Airstream, of course!
I flew to Pittsburgh & spoke about radical self love at TEDxCMU. Do you think I’m the only speaker at a TED event to wear ears in my official photograph?!
Rachel & I went to Queens to celebrate Holi… It was messy & marvellous.
Mike, Fumi, Asami & I all rode over to Brooklyn to to celebrate spring.
Kat came to NYC just as the weather started to pick up.
We spent an incredible day with the babes from Made U Look Photography, & most importantly, introduced them to the glory of the Salty Pimp ice-cream!
We LOVE them & can’t wait to see them again soon!
Kat had barely gone home before I jumped on a plane & met Shauna in Santa Monica!
We had a great time riding bikes, doing poolside yoga, going for walks at the beach, & rejecting one another’s advances… !
(Incidentally, this was one of my favourite manicures of the year.)
I jumped on a bed for a campaign with alice + olivia, & got to eat a lot of ice-cream in the process.
Then I flew to San Francisco with a gaggle of bloggers for a fantastic weekend with art.com. They treated us like rockstars, & I started to see the appeal of the city by the bay…
I was appointed Beauty & Style Editor at xoJane.com, & going into the office to see the girls has become a highlight of my week. They are so cute!
At the height of summer, my husband & I celebrated one year of marriage. Amazing!
My parents came to NYC for a week; I made my mother pose with me on this Alice in Wonderland statue!
I got all dressed up & hosted a Fashion’s Night Out event with Swarovski… I think I need this couch in my life!
I was featured in a 12-page spread in Ink Fashion. It took two days to shoot, but it was super-fun.
A week after my birthday, I flew to New Orleans for a few days with my BFF from Australia. I totally fell in love with the place…. & I can’t wait to see Jess again soon!
I was on the cover of Her magazine in New Zealand… & the feature was pretty fantastic, too!
Shauna, Kat & Lisa all came back to New York, & we held our very first Blogcademy event. It was a raging success & we had an unbelievably great time doing it!
I partied with will.i.am…
...& that’s not even half of it! PHEW. No wonder I’m so pooped!
I’m so excited about 2013, & as such, I’m taking some time off before kicking back into gear again. I’ll be back on the 1st of January, but of course, I’ll still be tweeting up a storm!
Thank you for coming along with me on this journey. 2013 is going to be absolutely amazing for all of us. I promise!
Have a beautiful new year’s eve!

When I lived in New Zealand, MAGNUM Mini Ice Cream Bars were one of my favourite things. They’re a little bit of luxury. So of course, I was very excited to take part in their collaboration with alice + olivia!
It’s no secret that I’ve been following Stacey Bendet’s Twitter & Instagram feeds like a hawk. (Or an obsessive stalker. Your pick!) She posts the best personal style photos — mega-inspiring. It was so much fun to meet her in person. She’s hilarious! She told us that she’s designing an original mini-skirt inspired by the new MAGNUM Mini Ice Cream Bars, which will be revealed during Fashion Week in September! I can’t wait to see what she comes up with. Something decadent I’m sure!
The shoot was pretty incredible, too. We were fussed over at the legendary Carlyle Hotel, dressed by alice + olivia, & given all the ice-creams we could scoff! (The almond ones are my favourite. We were all running on major sugar-rushes that night!)
My favourite moment from the whole day was definitely getting all dressed up. You know that moment when you slip a dress over your head & it just fits perfectly? It’s like the sartorial holy grail. I totally had one of those moments! My dress — a mirrored silver neo-flapper DREAM — was sublime insanity. (I can’t wait to wear it when I go & see The Great Gatsby!)
I’ll be sharing the final image from our shoot next week, so stay tuned! In the meantime, if you want to keep up with delicious ice-creamy developments from MAGNUM, you can follow them on Tumblr, Facebook & Twitter!
This post was sponsored by the kind people at MAGNUM!

Just in case you couldn’t tell, Nubby, Kat & I had the best time ever in Las Vegas. Even though only two months have passed, it already feels like it happened a lifetime ago! I’m really craving some extended girl time — & some hot weather! — so it seemed like a good time to recap our adventures in Vegas! Thankfully, we were incredibly snap-happy the whole time, so there’s plenty to show you!
This was our second-to-last day in Vegas, & we were all still rocking our photoshoot hairstyles from the day before! It made us feel extra-glamorous. This picture was taken inside Caesar’s Palace, but it looks like we’re on a wet street in Europe somewhere!
Oh hey, I’m just chilling out next to a huge fountain…
I don’t know if this face has a name. Maybe “stunned guppy”?!
It’s true that when the three of us get together, we look at a LOT of shoes!
Still absolutely 100% in love with this Florence Broadhurst pattern from Kate Spade. In fact, I love it so much that I ended up buying the Japanese Floral Scout, & have been wearing it almost every day!
Ha!!! I love MAC Cosmetics stores. They always feel so full of promise!
...But wait, there’s more! These insane sneakers were at Giuseppe Zanotti & a mere $995! (Cough, cough!) They’re pretty amazing, though… I think if I bought these for Nubby, she’d be running marathons in no time!
Definitely reaching for another pair of shoes in this photo… But none of us bought any the whole time we were in Vegas! Oh well, I promise you we gave it a good go!
I think this fountain should be bigger. Don’t you?
Doing a quality control check before something was posted to Instagram, no doubt!
I can’t begin to tell you how good it felt to soak up some sunshine, especially given the temperatures in NYC at the time!
I feel like every vacation has a kind of theme, or elements that run throughout. Our time in Vegas was definitely punctuated by our obsession with the talents — & tawdry lives of — the Vegas-based magicians. Criss Angel, for some reason, became a major focus. We were so fascinated by everything about him that we even ended up imitating him in photos…
See? I’m not exactly sure why we are all crossing our arms over our chests like vampires, though… Nubby swore up & down that Criss had done promo photos like this, but I can’t find them!
David Copperfield didn’t escape our attention, either. Here we are doing our best Copperfield impressions. Can’t you see the similarities?!
At the Airplanes & Blazers photobooth!
I was so glad that I took my Fujifilm Instax camera with me. It got a LOT of use. I have barely touched my digital SLR in a year!
I loved this sign at the Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Lounge. I want a huge version for our house!
This seemed like a photo op that was simply too good to pass up! Who wouldn’t want to pose with multiple Elvii?!
This terrifying picture was taken on our last night, at a bar that was COMPLETELY dead!
Nubby won’t admit this to you, but she has a total dinosaur fetish.
A Birthday Cake Shake at Holstein’s. Delicious! I recommend.
Need to do this in my living room. I know you think I’m kidding… but I’m not!
My bedside table at The Cosmopolitan… Sparkly shoes & Instax photos, all in a day’s work.
David McNeil is a karaoke genius… Don’t let anyone tell you differently! He was wailing Born To Run at the top of his tarnished lungs!
This was taken at dinner after our photoshoot in the desert. We ate at Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris hotel — & it was incredible — but exhaustion kicked in soon after!
Sunrise over the Eiffaux Tower…
I love the Faux de Triomphe!
This is the fortune Zoltar gave me!
Nubby decided that every time we left the hotel room, we should take a photo… So we did!
It turned out to be a brilliant way of documenting our outfits & a whole lot of silliness!
Embodying my new style direction!
Our outfits on the last full day.
This is the team of people who went out to shoot…
...& this is how it looked on our less-than-glamorous return from the day of shooting in the desert. I’m carrying a huge plastic bag full of clothes & feeling very classy!
Covered in dust at the end of the day, & completely spent.
I adored these hanging paper decorations at Bond… It’s a really cute, psychedelic bar. I actually think there’s a lot of great interior inspiration in Las Vegas, you just have to pay attention!
Things we love: mega chandeliers!
I think I’m… chandelirious!
Our intrepid photographer! you David!
Definitely counting down the days until I next get on a plane!

I have plenty to share from Las Vegas, but the first thing I wanted to show you is this quick collection of Instagram snaps!
Las Vegas is — without a doubt — one of the most fun places in the U.S.A. Where else can you pose with five Elvii (it’s the plural of Elvis!), two showgirls & one Michael Jackson impersonator all in one day? Where else can you wear a full beehive & major eye make-up at 9am, & not have anyone bat an eyelid? Where else is it acceptable — if not encouraged — to wear all sequin everything, even to the breakfast buffet? VEGAS, BABY! Suffice to say, we had a great time!
As we talked about it, Nubby & Kat & I realised that one of the reasons why our time away felt so restorative was because we were pretty much unplugged the whole time. It really inspired me to bring this practice into my daily life. So, my new weekly goal is to spend at least one day out of the house, & leave my phone at home. (The weekend doesn’t count!) I’m very excited about this & I think it will bring me a real sense of peace. How often do you unplug? Probably not often enough!
Even still, the three of us always had our phones on us, & the iPhone is such a quick & great way of capturing a moment that we ended up posting quite a lot of pictures to Instagram. I think they make for a pretty concise round-up of what we got up to… So here they are!
P.S. If you’re not following me on Instagram, you should be! My username is galadarling (shocking, I know)!
Hello! This was taken on our first night, at Vesper Bar, before heading to a party where David McNeil did Bruce Springsteen karaoke & we took about a million photobooth pictures!
Vegas is full of fake landmarks. This was the view from our hotel room: the Eiffaux Tower!
Here’s some of the wallpaper in the Cosmopolitan bathrooms. Can you see the girls?!
Maus on the town! This is from our first night, too. You can see Nubby — & her ears — in the mirror behind me!
If Vegas is one thing, it’s excessive. This is a statue near the taxi stand at Caesar’s Palace. “I am a golden god!” Or goddess, as the case may be!
These girls at Bettie Page had the best hair ever!
This place is scary. Talk about the worst of America. In fact, when you go in there, they put you in a hospital gown…
Some guy had a heart attack eating here last month :(
Dreamy (but way too big) shoes…
...At Louboutin world!
We had our fortunes told by Zoltar! They were scarily accurate, too!
We made a friend… We named him Cabo Wabo!
By total chance, I found Chloe! & she was sitting in a SHOE!
Big hair forever! Thanks so much to the girls at Your Beauty Call for this. So amazing! I need to wear my hair like this every day…
Elves, all dressed up at 9am.
Bathroom portraits: a time-honoured tradition!
The fountains at the Bellagio are one of my favourite things about the city. I never get sick of them. This photo was taken while Billie Jean was playing!
The day after our photoshoot, with slept-in — but still big — hair.
The Cosmopolitan, where we stayed, has the biggest chandelier in the world. Here is a tiny, beautiful fraction of it.
I love a good hat! I didn’t buy this, but I think I need to…
Standing in line…
Leaving Las Vegas… It’d be hard for me to lose my luggage!
Hope you enjoyed this little glimpse! I can’t wait to share more with you, including the list of things we did — & wish we’d done! — while in Sin City!
Love & really, really big hair,
