You're Invited To... MEGA LOVE FEST!

Hey bunny girl! You’re invited to MEGA LOVE FEST, a live-streaming Radical Self Love event!

Okay: what, exactly, is Mega Love Fest?! Mega Love Fest is a free-form seminar dealing with anything & everything that relates to radical self love! You can tune in live from your computer, or you can view the recording at a later date!

Mega Love Fest is part lecture, part Q&A, & all wicked fun. We’ll be talking about jealousy & how to deal with it, striking a balance between vanity & radical self love, learning how to get what you want without trampling on other people, having the guts to discover, live & LOVE your passion & a WHOLE lot more!

The goal of Mega Love Fest is to answer some of your burning questions to get you on track for a summer romance… with yourself! Think of this as the kick-off for a starry-eyed season. You’ll come away from Mega Love Fest with oodles of ideas for amping up your radical self love practice!

I’ll be broadcasting live from International Playgirl HQ for at least an hour. If you’ve ever attended any of my other events, you know we always go over-time because we’re having way too much fun!

If there’s anything specific that you’re struggling with on your radical self love journey, please let me know so I can talk about it! I’m taking topic suggestions on Twitter & Facebook. The more information you can give me, the better I can help you, so don’t be shy!

I love doing these live-streaming events, because I get to sit in your room & answer whatever might pop into your head! One of the coolest things about it is that everyone watching is able to chat with one another, & also submit questions to me on the fly. It’s a fantastic way to make new friends… & spend some time with me!

Talk about the perfect kick-off to summer! Plus, at only $7 a ticket, Mega Love Fest costs less than a pair of false eyelashes! (Though, I would never ask you to choose between ‘em! Too cruel!)

Central Park Zoo On A Fine Summer's Day...

Central Park Zoo On A Fine Summer's Day...

The Central Park Zoo is the perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon, especially when you’re hanging out with your friends from Britain!

Last weekend was a scorcher, & after a decadent brunch at Saxon + Parole, Kat, Gareth & I hailed a cab to Central Park for an adventure. We had a horse-drawn carriage ride around the park (our horse’s name was Socks), before braving the zoo, then sat down for a well-deserved ice-cream at Dylan’s Candy Bar. (The ensuing sugar rush was one for the books!) The perfect day, je crois!

It was so much fun having Kat in town, & even better to play tourist in my favourite city! <3 I definitely recommend it to anyone feeling dissatisfied or stuck in their own hometown. There’s always something to discover, & a new way of looking at things can be just around the corner!

We loved going to the zoo, zoo, zoo… How about you, you, you?!

Zig Zag Wanderers!

[ 11 May 2012, 12:34 ]

On the Brooklyn Bridge!

What a week! Kat has been in town & she has been distracting me (in the best way possible)! I’ve barely even been home!

Yesterday we got prettied up by Regan Rabanal (my favourite — & first ever! — make-up artist in NYC!), then met with Christina, Marielle & Alie from Made U Look Photography. From shooting on rooftops, to stumbling around the West Village, to ending up on the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset, it was a perfect day. Christina, Marielle & Alie all had about 5 cameras around their necks at all times, shooting in a variety of formats & experimenting with lots of different film… It was so exciting & we can’t wait to see the final results!

On the subject of iPhone apps, by the way, I used 8mm to film a few clips yesterday & made them into a little video!

Hooray! Here’s to a glorious weekend…

TEDxCMU: Radical Self Love

[ 19 April 2012, 17:35 ]

A month ago, I spoke at TEDxCMU. TEDTalks are a big deal, & have been an obsession of mine for years, so you can only imagine my delight when I was asked to participate at a regional level! TEDxCMU was held at Carnegie Mellon University, & with an audience of 500 students & faculty, it was one of the most terrifying — & thrilling — things I’ve done in a long time!

When the organisers asked me what I wanted to talk about, my answer was immediate: radical self love. Here, then, is the story of my journey to radical self lovin’, & some ideas on ways that you can start loving yourself, too…

Love & neon pink dresses (!!!),

The Home Shopping Network... On Quaaludes

The Home Shopping Network... On Quaaludes

If Betty Draper lived in an alternate universe, this is how she would shop for clothes.1 Perfectly coiffed & immaculately presented, she’d teeter on the edge of her armchair, eyes fixed on the television set & glazed euphorically. Later, over supper, Don Draper would tell her his office couldn’t get through to her today. She’d look down at her dinner plate & neglect to tell him that she was on the telephone with the home shopping network for five hours.

Vogue Italia have done an incredible job creating this video. IF ONLY the home shopping network was as wonderful! As tongue-in-chic (ho ho! Fashion pun!) as it all is, it’s quite brilliant to be able to see the clothes moving. It’s a transformative experience.

I also think we need to pause for a second & talk about THAT HAT at 1:08! Some other favourites include 1:38 & 1:45. IT’S ALL SO BEAUTIFUL! I haven’t felt so excited about clothing in a long time. You can click through for the editorial itself which was shot by — who else? — Steven Meisel, but I think the video is better. It’s the music that does it for me, truly.

I just love the 1960’s on Quaaludes psychedelic feel of the whole thing. It makes me want to drink a martini & backcomb my hair until my arms go numb…

You know I don’t just post a video by itself very often — only when the subject at hand is very, very special. This qualifies. Drink it in with your eyeballs. Sweet dreams…

[1] Maximum points to Ashe who came up with this!

P.S. If you’re viewing this via email, there’s a video above which probably won’t appear! Click the title of the post to see it all in its full-colour glory!
