Don’t be afraid: be a badass!

For years, rumours swirled all around me. Everyone wanted to know how I had done it. How was I living the life of my dreams? From the outside, it looked like magic: I had moved from New Zealand to New York City, married an amazing man, and appeared to spend all my time blogging, travelling, and living the good life.

No wonder there were so many questions. The internet went crazy. There were whispers of a trust fund, a wealthy boyfriend, an even more affluent husband. How else could I be doing it?

And it’s no surprise. We all want to know how to make our dreams come true. But the real answer has nothing to do with fathers, boyfriends or husbands.

The power to live the life of our dreams is within us. It’s just that for most of us, that power is lying dormant. We don’t know how to access it.

I’ve been running my business for almost a decade now, and in that time, I’ve met thousands of brilliant women who are full of good ideas and know how to make things happen. Meeting them is like a breath of fresh air: it’s beautiful to see sisters doin’ it for themselves. But for every woman I meet who is killin’ it, I meet 10 who have big dreams but won’t allow themselves to get there. Some are paralysed by fear, others are wracked with doubt, and self-sabotage is rife. It’s such a shame, because until you step up and start living your life on your own terms, you’ll never know how wonderful it could be.

That’s why I created DARE/DREAM/DO. Think of it as your no excuses guide to kicking ass and taking names.

You can do whatever you want in this lifetime, and it’s not contingent on “marrying up”, winning the lottery, or befriending a Nigerian prince. You can make it happen on your own.

With the right attitude and intention, we can live a life of blessings — even miracles — with ease and grace. You just need to know the steps.

DARE/DREAM/DO is a 30 day course which shows you exactly what you need to do to manifest a life worth swooning over!

check Do you feel like your fears have a stranglehold on you? Are you aching for change, but petrified of taking the first step?

check Are you unsure about what your “dream life” really looks like? Do you look around at the traditional definition of success and feel uninspired… Or downright depressed?

check Do you have big dreams — write books! Perform on stage! Massive philanthropy! Oprah! — but absolutely no idea how to get started?

check Are you feeling stuck, lost, not sure what to do next? Are you overwhelmed with too many ideas… Or too few?

If you feel this way, you’re definitely not alone. In fact, 10 years ago, I would have put a huge TICK next to every single item on that list. I was bouncing between soul-crushing corporate jobs, dreaming of bigger and better things, and asking myself, ‘Is this really as good as it gets?’ I wanted to write, travel, and live a life of adventure… But my fears were like a pair of cement shoes.

I was afraid that I was doomed to a mediocre existence. I was terrified of being like everyone else. When I imagined my future, it looked like an eternal Tuesday, and I was in a never-ending commute, surrounded by sad, grey, ghostly faces.

Deep down, you know what you want to do. But maybe it’s buried so deep inside you that your vision is clouded and confused. No matter what your situation right now, it’s essential to figure out where you want to go, and what you want to do. You have to find some clarity. You have to be able to say, definitively, “This is what I want.”

Because if you don’t know what you want, you can’t get what you want.

It really is that simple.

In DARE/DREAM/DO, you’re given the chance to reconnect with your true self so that you get quiet and really listen to what your inner guidance system is telling you. One of the major reasons we don’t know what we want out of life is because we never made space for our intuition to speak up.

It’s time for your intuition to speak up. And it’s time for you to listen.

Let me reiterate: you can have, be, and do anything you want in this world. All it takes is a little courage, and a little push.

DARE/DREAM/DO is a 30 day course. You’ll receive an email every day for a month, all focussed on getting you to take action. The course is split into three sections, each lasting for 10 days. Each day explores a different facet of either daring, dreaming, or doing. Along the way, there are homework assignments, ideas to contemplate, resources to help you power up, and prompts to get you moving.

The course opens with DARE, ten days of takin’ out the trash when it comes to fear, anxiety, and those lingering doubts which keep you back and hold you hostage. We’re going to dive in and take an up-close-and-personal look at what really motivates you… And what you discover might surprise you!

If you’ve ever wanted to start a business, leave a miserable relationship, or start all over again — but didn’t — 10 days of DARE will blow your mind wide open.

I believe that we can only really live out loud when we start to smash through those cold sweat-inducing cognitions, and I’m going to show you exactly how to do it.

Then we move onto DREAM, which is all about opening our minds and giving ourselves permission to want more. This is a fantastic segment for you if you’re feeling stuck, bored, underwhelmed, or sapped of creative energy.

If you’re wondering whether your checklist should look like everyone else’s, take heed! More than that, we’ll be talking about things that will actually fill you with a sense of true happiness. Sure, you might think you want a hot pink Bentley and a room full of dollar bills that you can dive into like Scrooge McDuck, but maybe that wouldn’t bring you true fulfillment. We’re going to investigate the things that would really light you up, and make your soul sing.

For ten days, we’ll take a joyful stroll through our biggest, boldest, and most unconscious desires, resulting in a more expansive, playful and visionary world-view… And you’ll certainly be capable of shaking up some major shit by the time you get done!

Finally, we get cracking on DO. Now that you’ve gatecrashed your fear festival, crushed your jitters, and you know where you want to go, I’m going to show you how to make it happen. Over a ten day period, I’ll be teaching you my favourite — and quite unconventional! — methods for moving mountains in a beautiful, magical, and enjoyable way.

You’ll learn how to run your energy, energise yourself with breath, and fill a room with positive intention. There’s chanting, ritual, candle magic, and of course, advice on how to kick self-sabotage to the curb!

By the end of this series, you’ll feel energised and enthusiastic, and most importantly, you’ll know exactly what you need to do to make your dreams come true.

sophie“If, like me, you find yourself in your mid twenties, apathetic with what society thinks you should be doing – kids, marriage, mortgages – but aren’t sure what kickstarts your heart anymore, then Dare Dream Do is for you. I learnt that by not letting myself to dream, I was stifling my psyche and would soon end up prescribing to a life I was being told I should lead, not the one that would make my heart happy. Gala gives you the courage to say ‘fuck that shit!’, delve deep into your desires and gives you concrete actions to start making your dreams a reality. Learning to distinguish between fear and intuition has literally changed my life.” — Sophie King

angela“I started DARE/DREAM/DO when my life was at a huge turning point. Was I going to sit in my corporate job forever, or was I going to follow the dreams I had always been dreaming? It felt like a pep talk from a friend, that came to ME every morning. We both dream big, and women like us need to stick together and listen to each other. Before, I was scared and excited, but nervous about my future. After? I was preaching the good word of dreaming, manifesting, and making a difference in the world. And now? I’m just so stoked for what’s coming! It’s big! Thank you for helping me push myself for more, and bigger, dreams!” — Angela Garbacz

aycee“Before DARE/DREAM/DO I honestly felt like no one understood me. I felt kinda lost. After completing the course, I feel like a rockstar. I feel like I can accomplish everything I ever wanted to do. I actually believe in myself! The biggest difference DARE/DREAM/DO made to my life is the confidence I gained from the program. I am constantly on cloud 9.” — Aycee Brown

louise“Everyone needs to DARE/DREAM/DO! Gala’s blog inspires me so much, I jumped at the chance to have some Darling Magic in my life every day! I’d love Gala to be my personal coach- DARE/DREAM/DO is the next best thing. With this babe in your corner, you can’t go far wrong. Before this course I was good at the daring and dreaming but not so good at the doing… Since completing the course I am much more focused on my dreams and now I DO know how to make them a reality. I miss you Gala… what’s the next course?!” — Louise George

steph“I LOVED Dare/Dream/Do! Before DARE/DREAM/DO, I was in a rut and feeling uninspired. But the wonderful Gala Darling swooped in for the rescue! Her just-in-the-nick-of-time wisdom made me feel like I wasn’t alone. DARE/DREAM/DO reminded me what a creative and luminous person I am and helped me find my spark again.” — Stephanie Capps Dyke

maria“I finished DARE/DREAM/DO about a month ago and since I have started building my own web & graphic design business and am about to start designing a plus sized swimwear line for one of my friends. Before I started DARE/DREAM/DO I was unemployed and scared to actually start doing what I had always wanted to do! Starting the course was scary and letting go of fear was really hard and really rewarding thing to do. The biggest difference DARE/DREAM/DO made to my life is helping me let go of the fear that was holding me back and replace that fear with courage.” — Maria Towner

zoe“Before I started Dare/Dream/Do I was sitting on my floor in the fetal position crying, because at 23 I did not know how to have a “successful” life. After completing the series I felt excited and uplifted, ready to share my magic with the world. I relaunched a website, started to write a novel and I had a hula hoop made so I can dance in my yard. The main takeaway from the series was listening to someone who has been where I am now – this dark dark place filled with feelings of failure and desperation – reassure me that the sparkles and glitter are still in the universe, and that I am an Uber Babe!” — Zoe Levy

katya“I felt lost, unsure of my future path. After DARE/DREAM/DO, I felt reassured that everything is going to be A-OK! My fear was failure, but how do you define failure if you own/work for yourself? First, I had to construct what my fear was or how I defined it and then moved forward in achieving my goals of running a successful dog training business. If you don’t take risks, put yourself out there, nothing will ever change. The course was a wonderful daily pick-me-up. I saved all of my emails so I can come back to them later, and be reminded of the goodness in the world!” — Katya Rowny

christina“DARE/DREAM/DO helped me to reignite my ambitious and creative personality. I was feeling stagnant, underutilized and not challenged, especially in my work. The spark that was ignited has lingered for several months and dramatic shifts in my perception of the world, my career and my relationships have happened since. I truly believe that learning what it felt like to love myself (even love my acne!) was 60% of healing my skin condition. I have recommended Gala to friends, family and strangers going through transitions. Her words are real, they are touching and I believe they are worth each and every cent.” — Christina Esser

jen“DARE/DREAM/DO was a huge part in inspiring me to say ‘NO’ to playing it safe and ‘YES’ to doing what I actually want to do. On paper, my life was great. High-rise apartment, high-paying job working on blockbusters: I was already living the dreams of many. But they weren’t MY dreams. DARE/DREAM/DO reignited getting back in touch with myself and taking into consideration what I actually wanted to do. I left New Zealand, packed a suitcase and went trotting around the globe. I’m now moving to Hollywood to pursue dreams of writing for television!” — Jen Metcalfe

vienda“Before I started DARE/DREAM/DO I felt like I had all these ideas, but I lacked the confidence, clarity and courage to finally take action towards my dreams. After I completed the course, I realised that I was totally overcomplicating things in my head and felt sooooooo inspired and excited about everything that I wanted to do! I finally took a few risks, threw caution to the wind and started fulfilling my dreams. The biggest difference that DARE/DREAM/DO made in my life is that it gave me the confidence and courage to DO those things that I knew I really wanted to, but was too scared of. And now, it’s all so easy (and fun!).” — Vienda Maria

kristy“I have always been a classic self sabotager. But it wasn’t until you explained how this is rooted in fear and gave me some great, actionable tips on how to understand why it happens that I was able to make changes to overcome it. DDD also opened my eyes to new ideas like affirmations and manifesting. I have since incorporated my take on these into my own daily practices and those of my clients (I’m a nutritionist who specializes in fertility). I kept every email in a folder and refer back to them at times. Those emails are a treasured reference I’ll always have. You brought glitter and unicorn farts into my life and I love it.” — Kristy O’Kane

lisa“Trying to balance work, personal life, and goals was sending me into a tailspin. After completing the course I feel both thoughtful and determined. I actually followed the course all the way through as I received each issue in my inbox, and just recently re-read the whole course again. I feel very powerful after finishing the final DO section. You have an internal power to conquer exactly what you like, and you have the power to put that into action whenever you’re ready (like…now!). I am one of those people with a very loud mind. I feel like this program has given me practical tools and tips to put my creative chatter into action.” — Lisa Griffin

vicky“Before the course I felt average and uninspired. After DARE/DREAM/DO I felt inspired and LOVED. Like my life was full of possibilities and potential again! I loved the resources. I’m a self-help/spiritual junkie and it was so great having a crazy huge book/audio/blog list recommended by Gala Darling self-help/spiritual Guru herself! The journey doesn’t end at the end of the course, I’m still finding awesomeness in the resource lists months and months later!” — Vicky Maxwell
