My search for love has been long and arduous. I’

My search for love has been long and arduous. I’ve had many near misses and wild experiences. Sometimes I would look around at my friends who have been married for many years and wonder whether there was something wrong with me. Why did my relationships contain so much stress and strife? 😩 Ultimately, I would always end up walking away because it felt like I had to choose between love and peace.

Even though I had never experienced it, I believed that a relationship should feel good, and calm, and easy. That I shouldn’t have to walk on egg-shells, that I could fully relax around them. That whoever I fell in love with should be smart, and very funny, and very kind, and someone I could completely trust and rely on.

And last year was really a doozy. I felt so bad about my love life that I decided I would spend my 40th birthday in Europe, just so that I didn’t have to mope around my house alone and feel tragic. (Sagittarius South Node = when in doubt, catch a flight!) ✈️💕✌🏼️

But about a month before I left for Paris, riding high on VortexFest vibes, I decided I was too hot and too badass to be miserable! It was time to get back in the saddle and see what dating in Orange County was like. I had previously dated in New York and Los Angeles, and I wondered what the scene was like down here. I got on the apps, and to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised by the assortment!

I started swiping, chatting, and going on dates. I wrote extensively about my dating rules in Hologram Heart, but one that I will live and die by is that first dates should ALWAYS be coffee dates! (Who wants to sit through an entire dinner with someone you may or may not like?! Your time is too valuable, baby!)

So one day, in between a workout and a lunch with @chalenejohnson, I met up with this man for coffee. I could already tell by our texts that he was extremely well-educated and thoughtful. And when I met him over lattes, I just wanted to stay there and keep talking to him...

Let’s talk about the RING! 💍💍💍

The truth is, we started talking about marriage from the beginning — in fact, on the very first date we went through the big issues. (Do you want to get married? Do you want children? What does a great relationship look like to you?) And if you can’t talk about these things with total transparency, that’s probably a sign that it isn’t going to be anything serious!

So marriage was always on the cards for us. I knew REALLY quickly that I wanted to marry him. (He says he knew on our first date. Awwww.) And when you take two people who know what they want, and they are totally clear about it, things move QUICKLY!

When he asked me, “Do you want to be involved in picking out the ring?” I said an emphatic YES, and we were off to the races. I already knew the vibe. I wanted a pear-shaped stone with a diamond halo, but of course, I wanted my stone to be PINK! 💖 He sourced a stunning untreated pink sapphire, sent pictures to the jeweler, and showed me the sketches so I could approve it before it was made.

I AM GOBSMACKED BY THIS RING — it looks even better than I imagined it would! — and it has been torture to take it off every Sunday for High Vibe Honey! And to record Stories and then realize I have to re-do it because my ring is showing! 😂 Champagne problems!

The last photo is from the day we got engaged: Christmas. 🥰 I’ll tell you that story soon! But I want to tell you how we met first. It’s all coming, I promise!

Also: thank you so much for all your love and support and excitement. It’s really beautiful to share this with you, it’s like telling thousands of my best friends all at once. 🥹 It has been so touching to receive all your notes and congratulations. I love you! 😘

BABY! I’VE GOT NEWS! 🥹 Yes. YES! I’m engaged!!! 💍

All I wanted for my 40th birthday was to fall in love… And I got my wish, and then some! 🥰💕✨

Marrying this man is a no-brainer. I remember walking through the streets of Rome, thinking, “You’d be silly not to marry him.” Because… I never thought I’d meet someone who fully accepted and loved me as I am, without me having to change or adjust or tweak my behavior. And my eccentricities aren’t just accepted, they are celebrated. He loves my weirdness! No exaggeration: it's one of the greatest gifts I've ever received.

Being with him is just… easy. Effortless. I don’t have to think about it all the time, because it’s simple. We really like, love, respect and adore each other. He makes me laugh SO hard, and he lets me have my space to do all my Gala stuff, but we still see each other every day. It just feels so calm, so peaceful, so certain. 💖

There is so much to say, and so much to celebrate, but one of my favorite things is that this proves just how quickly your life can shift when you know what you want, and you are open to miracles. Words cannot describe my DEEP, DEEP GRATITUDE and joy!!! 🥹💕✨

As you know, I like to keep my relationships private, so I’m not going to share his name or his picture. But I AM going to tell you more about how we met and what I did differently this time, because my search for love has been a REAL Choose Your Own Adventure… With plenty of mistakes made along the way!

Oh, and I am definitely going to share more pictures because uh… Your girl went wild with white looks! (I’ve never been very “bride-y” but doing a full blown engagement shoot felt VERY Carrie Bradshaw in the best way. Highly recommended!)
