Greetings & salutations from a cafe in the East Village! It seems we didn’t escape Sandy’s wrath as much as we thought: the salt water which filtered through the neighbourhood is now slowly & systematically destroying all the underground cables. Hence, we haven’t had an internet connection — or any television channels — in our apartment for two days. Quelle drag!

Oh well. The good news is that without the ever-present distraction of the internet, I’ve been able to get a lot of writing (& thinking!) done. Three cheers for that!
