Carousel: Week Ending 18th December 2009
[ 18 December 2009 ]
This is a super-cute, super-girly Carousel, even moreso than usual! Lots of things gathered up just for you. Yum. Let’s begin!
She has had some flack for it, but I actually really like this video of Lindsay Lohan & no, it is not safe for work!
I discovered Frocktastic the other day & it’s brilliant! It’s basically a huge database of dresses, & you can filter by colour, price, most popular, etc. Frocktastic is a girl’s (new) best friend? Perhaps!
This is the most amazing bachelorette party I have ever seen & is so inspiring & beautiful. (It features the photo at the top of this post!) The official spread is at Utterly Engaged & I think all the pictures are here. I love this photo.
Littledoe makes amazing headdresses. I want about twelve of them.
Kim Falconer’s horoscopes are cool.
I’m also really obsessed with Rock ‘n Roll Bride, it is so cute & run by a pink-haired beauty! It is basically a big eyeball thrill of cute couples in love. Some favourites: Big Rock Candy Mountain is the sweetest 1950’s wedding ever. Anarchy in the UK features a fantastic dress, a tattooed bride & a white Morris Minor. Moulin Rouge is exactly what it sounds like. & Cowboys & Indians is all about the rad boots, baby girl.
It Made My Day is so good. The perfect antidote to FML.

The Shoe Girl, otherwise known as Celine, is rad. She designs shoes for Harajuku Lovers & Betsey Johnson, what a great job! She is also maddeningly adorable. Read her blog!
Magical changing street art by Roa in Shoreditch. Aaaaaamazing!
Karl & Mitten. Yeeeeeah. Weird.
The Noughtie List: the 2000s in Review from kottke.org. I enjoyed 2000-2009 in fashion, the short-lived trends of the decade (though most of those trends weren’t too short), best rock albums of the 2000’s, the decade’s 50 most important recordings, & popular baby names. Madison at #2! Naming trends sure have changed. Remember when it was all Sarahs & Jennifers?
“HABILLÉES POUR L‘ÉTÉ 2010 (DRESSED UP FOR SUMMER 2010) covers the Spring 2010 collections in New York and Paris, with Mademoiselle Agnès taking a particular interest in spotlighting the next generation of designers. In New York, she finds much cause for excitement in the likes of Proenza Schouler, Joseph Altazurra, Jason Wu, Thakoon and several others. Then it’s on to Paris, where Mademoiselle Agnès sets herself the daunting task of attending as many runway shows as possible; not only the heavy hitters, but also the perennially individualistic and the relatively low-profile. Get behind the scenes access to collections by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, John Galliano for Dior, and many more…” Also, it is an hour long & you can watch the whole thing online. Hello!
Reclaiming The Lucidity Of Our Hearts from Coilhouse. Beautiful.
This is gibberish… but sounds like English.
With subtitles!
Have a wonderful weekend, my sweet.
Love letters & feather headdresses,

Wow, Frocktastic looks amazing! That’ll fill my afternoon on it’s own!
A great set of links as always :)
I love the It Made My Day site. I thought My Life Is Average was a decent antidote, but this is a bajillion times better. YAY.
looovely…as per usual I have a plethora of tabs open to read while I drink some morning tea :)
A site I think you’ll like is www.givesmehope.com …and Gala whats up with all the wedding links ;) ;) heehehe im very happy that you are
I love rock n roll bride, also offbeat bride is fantastic. Not that I intend to get married anytime soon, but I’ve got plenty of awesome ideas if it ever happens!
Thanks for all the links about monetizing blogs and making a living. That’s my ultimate goal. I’m working toward it, but not quite ready yet. Hopefully soon all the time and love I put into my blog will give me something back!
Is there a hint in this carousel of engagement news?! :D
No! Sheeeeesh. I KNEW if I posted those wedding links that I would get asked about it! Hahahaha. GEEEEEEEZ. YOU KIDS!
Well, I’m grateful for all the wedding links, personally & I agree that you should check out “Offbeat Bride” too. They have some really great unique weddings on that site too! I love it because they actually encourage you to have your wedding whatever way you want instead of following convention : )
omg miss gala!! thank you so much for reading and mentioning my little site. i HEART you. you have made my day
Ahhh, I’m always bookmarking these links, they are so good! I’m so happy I found this blog! XO
Oh my god that octopus running away with the coconut definitely made my day! Hahaha.
Frocktastic has your dress, it must be amazing!!
=D
Links, links, wonderful links ~ thank you so much, Gala!
Lovely links, it just made me see everything pink. I’m really stressed out and tired most of the time, since I’m in the middle of a huge bedroom redecoration moment (which should be fun!) and I caught a terrible flu and have been sick in bed for a week. >.
Oh Gala, sometimes you are just the light of my life :)
Thanks for the Sophie Lancaster video. My husband and I were at the Bloodstock Open Air metal festival this year, and they’ve dedicated a stage to Sophie. We brought wristbands and donated money to her cause.
As a victim of attacks because I’m a metalhead, and friends of others in other subcultures who are taunted, beaten, bullied and reviled, I’m grateful to the work of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation and others, and to you, Gala, for spreading the word about tolerance of subcultures.
Cheers!
Is it just me or do the weeks seem to go by faster and faster?
Thank you for re-posting the blogging links. My goal for the new year is make my blog more of a business (even though it’ll always be my first love and hobby). You’re an inspiration. :-)
Okay…I just got back from reading that article by Yuli Ziv and I felt like that I had to thank you again. A real, genuine, from-the-bottom-of-my-heart THANK YOU. I don’t think I can tell how much this is exactly what I needed to read.
Oh going to check out many of these right now x Sushi
Best set of links in a long time, loved it all, thank you!
I gotta say, I’m not the biggest fan of the Lindsay vid…she looks kind of strug out. Maybe thats the point. But either way, the song that goes with the video is fantastic. Have a great weekend :)
*strung
Oh, I keep forgetting to tell you this: Have you ever heard of Pamela des Barres? She was a groupie back in the 70s, and also a free-spirited rocker chick. She was in an all-girl group called The GTOs – Girls Together Outrageously -, and pursued a (failed) career in acting. Nowadays she writes books about her past, and she has a blog, and the stuff she writes is usually really inspiring. I’m reading Take Another Little Piece of My Heart, her second book, and her style reminds me a lot of yours. I get the feeling you’d like her.
Actually, I just wrote a quote from her book on the front page of my 2010 planner to be inspired: “It’s always Anything Can Happen Day”. ^^
Gross Li Lo video. Drugged out to the max.

I love MLIA as well as it made my day. They are quite funny. Also MLIA turned me on to mystery google and howmanyofme.com
Gala! Thank you for the link to my Scopes. What a wonderful surprise :)(I wondered why my traffic quadrupled overnight!)
Much gratitude.
:) Kim
Thank you for sharing the Roald Dahl video, its tremendous! =)
I watched that Sophie Lancaster video, and cried.
And when I later explained it to my boyfriend, I cried again.
Thanks for posting it.
