Carousel -- Week Ending 20th July 2007

[ 20 July 2007 ]

Happy Friday! Wheeeee!

<3 Super Mods Enter Rehab, a photoshoot for Vogue Italia by Steven Meisel. After seeing this I have decided I must buy a copy (it’s from July ’07!) so I can stick the pictures all over my house. I LOVE this shoot, I think it is genius. (Not safe for work, though!)

<3 3 ways to wear a 3-piece suit for men!

<3 Beautiful But Expensive from the Manolo. The Manolo explains why good shoes come with a hefty price-tag.

<3 I’m sure you’ve seen this by now, but if not… here are the Simpsons & Linda Evangelista in an editorial for Harper’s Bazaar!

<3 Christy Turlington does Jean Seberg, photographed by Ellen Von Unwerth. I adore this.

<3 If I had a bath, I would want a whole army of these!

<3 Cory Kennedy’s having a yard sale this Sunday, for anyone who lives in Santa Monica & wants to see a live hipster explosion!

<3 Wow, wow, wow, most amazing cupcake shop ever. Or would you prefer a slutty tea-party? (I am so smitten with both!) Thanks, designismine!

<3 Fabulous Barbie designs! I think this is hilarious!

<3 Finally, & perhaps the best link of all — a sports acrobatics video, aka, one of the most amazing things I have EVER SEEN. Proof that the human body is a completely incredible thing.

Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala <3

  5. amanda — Me too, haha, in my DREAMIES!

Nadia — It would be greeeat to be an interior decorator who only designed places like that shop. “Cutesy projects ONLYYYY!”

  6. Oh gosh, how funny that I would find out about Cory’s yard sale from an Australian blog…when she is practically my neighbor and we run into each other all the time. She’s an odd one. Had quite the love affair with my kitten. But really should get some better parents, poor doll. I would go to her yard sale to see people I know…but I am terrified of all the people I don’t know who will definitely be creating abovementioned explosion! Blech.

  7. That was a cool video, for sure. But the one that had that affect on me (the :o effect) is this one:

  9. Hi,lurker sticking her head up.
I just love that light up goldfish. I have a fish theme in my bath and would love to have a whole army too. But alas, no bath. Just a crappy little tub you can’t fit a ten year old into.
Also I would love to have that Barbie dressing room for my Pullips.

  11. I went into a Saks the other day and tried on some extremely expensive (for me, that means more than $100 for any shoes that aren’t leather knee-high boots) shoes and sure, they’re beautiful, unique, etc. but they’re still not any more comfortable to wear than $20 shoes from Aldo or something similar! No padding for the balls of your feet, and no arch support whatsoever. You can buy shoe inserts for high heels and sandals even, now, but why should I spend extra money to buy inserts after spending hundreds of dollars on the shoes already? Can’t they just make the damn shoes comfortable? Padding and arch shaping might ruin the lines of the shoe on display, but once your foot is in them they’ll look the same and I would rather have that. I still have yet to find shoes that are worth it.

Sorry, it’s a bit of a personal pet peeve…people’s feet aren’t shaped so differently that you can’t know about weight distribution when people stand up and where there needs to be cushioning!

  15. Rachy Rach — Haha, that’s so funny. I quite like CK’s style but mostly I like the fairytale her life has become; that lifestyle is far more alluring to me than the fact that she wears vintage this or that.

Katherine — Yeah, sometimes even expensive shoes are uncomfortable. I don’t know who they expect will buy them. I guess people with a lot of money & no sense?

amy — Totally, I am crazy (ho ho, no pun intended) about it!
