[ 1 October 2009 ]

Hello, Friday! (Or Thursday…) Nice to see ya, to see ya NICE! Here’s some internet silliness to pep you up.
Attack of the 50ft party balloon… Artist creates giant sculptures that look like terrifying creatures from the ocean depths! Thanks, Irmak!
The Frisky has a few pictures from Katie Eary’s Spring 2010 show. AWESOME. I want more!
The funniest protest signs from the Huffington Post.
My friend is studying Historical Design at The New York School of Interior Design & she has started a blog to “digitally complement” her education. It is here. I am learning things just from reading it, especially posts like this!
I just discovered Makeup & Beauty Blog, & it is rad. Check out 18 MAC to School Makeup Tips!

I watched The Baby-Sitters Club movie the other night and I had one question on my mind: Where would they be at thirty?
Hey, I like you is an art project my friend Star stumbled across on a San Francisco street.
I found out about this black tea with rose petals from dear Verhext. Sounds yummy.
Mystic Medusa is doing Speed Astro Cabaret in Melbourne on October the 7th, & you should go along! I would if I could! Give her my love!
Why I am not afraid to take your money by Amanda Palmer.
“listen. artists need to make money to eat and to continue to make art. artists used to rely on middlemen to collect their money on their behalf, thereby rendering themselves innocent of cash-handling in the public eye. artists will now be coming straight to you (yes YOU, you who want their music, their films, their books) for their paychecks.”
Felt 3, hello! (November 17th! Yes, we’re waiting!)
Questions Couples Should Ask (Or Wish They Had) Before Marrying from the New York Times. I think it is hilarious that “Will there be a television in the bedroom?” is on there! & Oprah has a more extended version of the questions.
Why Humans Have Sex. Some of my favourite reasons: “I was curious about my sexual abilities”, “I wanted to burn calories”, “The person was famous & I wanted to be able to say I had sex with him/her”, “Someone dared me” & “It was an initiation rite to a club or organisation”. Fascinating (pronounced “fas-kin-ating”!).
From 1000 Awesome Things: #666 Giving people what they want. Hell (!) yes! Hahaha! Go Neil!
Stuff My Girlfriend Says is hilaaaaaarious, & also, I know the “girlfriend”! (She is an excellent manicurist.)

Ballon Monsters from the Deep….quite frankly
BRILLIANT! I do feel my wardrobe is sadly lacking without a set of ‘winkers’, I can’t whistle so with ‘Winker’s I could sashay emphatically at boys I like! Wahoo!
I was checking out the balloon monsters yesterday & adore them! I love that people are WEARING them. So cool. I did a blog a couple weeks ago featuring DRESSES made from balloons. They’re actually quite pretty!
I kind of love & want that ribcage necklace…but I’m afraid it would not look that good over large boobs. sadface.
Oh and here are the balloon dresses:
superalzy.wordpress.com/2009/0…
Also some light up dresses that I would seriously wear.

I just hopped on the net to read Susan Miller’s horoscopes! (of course I had to check iCiNG first, DUH!)
I’m a capricorn, I wonder what’s happening this month in cosmicland… Susan writes them long but they are so so true every time!
& Amanda Palmer HAHA!
I don’t know why but I’ve always loved looking at questions that people should ask before they get married. Or do other stuff, but that’s not really relevant to the post.
I’m so excited about the end of my Saturn/Virgo opposition. Ready for some love! Susan Miller is awesome.
AHHHH! Those Winkers pants are absolutely horrific! I don’t see why anybody would wear them- it’s like an invitation to watch their ass eat their pants with every step. Though, the ducky ones are sort of cute… hahah! Love the carousel this week, Gala!
I saw that post by Amanda Palmer, totally true. I wanted to comment & say thank you for linking to me Gala! :) Glad you liked the tattoo post. Now to look through the rest of these wonderfulicious links!
also the balloon monster is beautiful but also terrifying. when it first loaded on my screen I was like “What the hell?!”.
I wanna know why that yeti had shorts on under his fur.
p.s. this carousel fucking rocked!
Stuff My Girlfriend Says made me LOL for DAYS!!
Oooooh, my horoscope is brilliant for october! I’m so happy!
Also, check this out: www.sweet It’s a gorgeous dress made out of phonebook paper.
Hi Gala,
And thanks for the link love, highly appreciated. Believe it or not, I am into astrology as well and finding your blog was a nice surprise. You may want to read this article (a guest post I recently did on a blog owned by a fine lady) Astrology and Raincoats . Loved the October analysis of Susan Miller.
Best :-)
The Winkers completely made my day, 100%. Wow. And the music with it of course. Thanks for the video!

And thanks for the links to the “questions you should ask before marriage” perfect timing as my bf and I are going to have a “our future” talk this sunday.. including beach and picnic lunch. Its October already and we’ve been plodding along all of this year not really making any financial or career progres.. its time for action!!! the rest of this year can be research, applying for further education if need be. 2010 is gonna be epic!!!
I will have to look at everything else later.. theres just so many goodies.. Thank you Gala xoxox
Victoria Beckham is pretty hot, and I feel sure she wouldn’t approve of those heinous pants!
Thx for the twitter mention. xo
Oh dear god those Winkers DDDD: And I’m so glad you found Amanda Palmer’s blog post – I admire her muchly; she’s so honest and straightfoward. ♥
I LOVE that you keep posting links Susan Miller! Her beginning of the year horoscope for me and my significant other were crazy accurate.
P.S. Thank you for the link love!
I should have waited untill later in the day to watch that winkers video. 7:20am is much to early to be this horrified.
Awesome carasel this week, it’s taken up my whole morning! I especially love the Red Caravan Girls photoshoot and Things My Girlfriend Says – she sounds brilliant!
A great post, made me laugh and lit my day!
I saw the balloon monsters when I was in Burlington a few months ago! They are so much fun.
The Winkers are crazy. I love that they were walking to the music. haha very funny. & I love Amanda Palmer.
If you like the Gypsy Rose tea, you might like this tea blend I buy at the Tea Embassy in Austin called “Love Story.” It’s flavored with CHOCOLATE and rose petals! I seem to recall you might have a friend in Austin? Here’s the link:

Hey Gala, check these psychedelic flowers!
(found via the rocking blog of cakeheadlovesevil.wordpress.co…)
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Seeing you post something from Amanda Palmer is fantastic, she’s truly an amazing individual, and I’m stoked that you included her in your Carousel. She’ll be playing in NY in November, and I’m definitely going, you should consider coming, her performances are out of this world!
Not only did your Carousel include her, I loved the post on Tattoo Etiquette! Being someone with 7 tattoos at the age of 19 gets me some strange looks and questions, the answers to which usually include “My body is my canvas, deal with it.”, “Yes it hurt, how would you like to continually be stuck with a needle?”, or my favorite “Leave me alone, creeper.”
Try this one!

As always I love the links!
By the way – I nearly forgot! – guess who’s pre-oredered this beauty?! :D

That balloon sculpture is out of control…in the good way! :-D
I spent at least a a few hours on Carousel this morning! Awe, Mary Kate and Ashely, it’s so true Amanda Palmer!
I was going to suggest something scary for the first of the month of October but I didn’t have to. The pants with eyes clip with music and all is downright scary! Almost wrong!!!
Oh my, that thing is scary. Like some kind of mutant shrimp. And those winkers are awful lol.
I love the Dairi Burger! I just posted about it on LP last week. Her recent open letter to Diablo Cody is fantastic.
