Daily Outfit -- 10th July 2007
[ 10 July 2007 ]

Turquoise headscarf
‘Scary monsters’ singlet (from the children’s department of Smith & Caughey, a store in Auckland, New Zealand)
Royal blue Country Road cardigan
Longer white tank top
Black pyramid-studded belt
Turquoise quilted skirt from Laurie Foon
Navy blue scarf around my ankle (I don’t know what possessed me to do this)
Turquoise wedges by Melissa
Lucite bangles (love love LOVE, so versatile & gorgeous & when they clank together they sound like ice-cubes in a drink!)
Knotted pearls, of course. I wonder when I’ll find something I like better?

Do you like my nailpolish? It’s “Ruby Slipper” by Essie — my manicurist used it on me (& I almost died with joy), & then I found it on Ebay for 99c! (I paid about $6 postage which was a-okay with me.) It’s SUPER glittery red & definitely worth buying if you can get your hands on it!

Gee, I love these sunglasses. They were a gift from an amazing woman (Amanda!) & they make me soooo happy on a regular basis.
Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala ![]()

The very first thing I noticed was the awesome nail polish. (That, and how cute you look.) All the colours are fantastic together! I have never ever seen anyone look good in a quilted skirt before now. I love the ankle-bandana and I have coveted those jandal-wedges for many months now ;-)
I’ve been keeping my eye out for translucent lucite bangles, but haven’t yet found any-boo!
Nadine — You flatterer! The skirt is crazy, I think the photos represent it a little falsely because when I’m just standing with my feet together, it looks like a cartoon skirt, totally triangle-shaped. xx!
calliope! — They should be ALL OVER the place! I don’t know where you live, but I bought mine at Sportsgirl (an Australian clothing chain)... Try Ebay?
Honey, I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it! I LOVE your Daily Outfit posts. So inspiring.
I can totally see what you mean about the triangle effect, but honestly, how often do you just stand there with your feet together?
That skirt is hotness.
Ohh, lovely loveliness!
I must say, I had quite a wardrobe drama this morning – I was trying to wear this funny turquoise 1960s nightie as a top, but I needed something else turquoise to tie the look together (like shoes or stockings or SOMETHING). But I didn’t have anything! Alas, I had to get changed.
Nadine — True, I’m more a legs akimbo kind of girl ;D
Kat! — Thank you! It is notoriously difficult to wear… or at least, I find it is. It needs a lot of balancing up top to make the proportions work, & most of the time I can’t be bothered making the effort! Ha!
Nadia — Mwah, merci! Turquoise nightie sounds gorgeous! Does this crazy place we’re going to tomorrow have any op shops? You need a scarf, my girl!
the turquoise really matches your eyes!
LOVE the quilted skirt.
OH MY GAWSH.
that skirt is so adorable!
Thank you all so much! I didn’t leave the house in it though, so the streets of Melbourne went without!
i saw this and thought it was the Cutest hoodie!

ashleah — Aw, cute! I am a total sucker for the Victoria Couture stuff that Kitson sells… have a look at that! Mmmmm, pink cashmere Hello Kitty sweater, be miiine…
The skirt is really cool and I love the fact that you´re wearing Melissa (because I´m Brazilian and because I´m obsessed with Melissa and own quite a few).
hey. nice nail polish. i’m going down to the shops to find it!
Those bottom shots look like you’re flying over the city! Haha, Super-Gala to the fashion rescue!
I too love that quilted skirt and am also in search of your bracelets!

You make me want to go shopping in a desperate way. That’s always a good thing!
I love your outfit so much. The quilted skirt is fabulous, and the ankle scarf is inspired. Reminds me a tad of carrie bradshaw’s upper arm scarf in the episode where she meets Natasha.
oh wow! i’m madly in love with that skirt. and the scarf. and the glasses. AHH i want it all!
great outfit!
I would have never thought a quilted skirt would look cool, but you rock it.
I really love the cardigan. I need more blue clothes, I have a long blue evening dress and a really cute blue top but I need more.
Your nail polish is gorgeous! I have to get some! And that scarf around your ankle is very very cute. :D
haha, I recently bought two bandanas (I often find myself obsessed with old spaghetti westerns. .. if you know me, you know that when I wear a bandana, I’m probably thinking of clint eastwood) ANYWAY I started wearing them around my ankle too for no apparent reason.
ps awesome outfit, I love shiny red nails, and the skirt is ridiculusly cute. :)
Ronise — I own two pairs of Melissas & adore them. I think next summer I might invest in some of their jelly shoes, they make a nice alternative to ballet flats.
Stefanie — Haha, yes! In search of cameltoes & flat hair!!
Robin — Hee! Maybe I was channelling her a bit, I don’t know. I love the arm scarf on SJP but because I have tattoos, when I do it there is WAY too much detail, it’s a bit overwhelming. Boo! Plus I think in order to pull that off you have to be SUUUUUPER buff like she is… & I’m not ;D
gala,
hi! first off, love love love your blog.
second off, you are great at dishing out words of wisdom. so, please PLEASE let us in on how you keep your skin so gorgeous and glowy.
third, sorry this had nothing to do with this post in particular. but i do love those sunglasses!
caroline! — Oh, I’ll do my best! It’s not always too brilliant, though! xx
I’m itching my hands to steal that skirt!! I’m suddenly obssessing on skirts these days!!
i swear i will buy one!
=)
Your apartment looks so sunny and pretty! What a view!
Ewzomg I love love love the bangles ‘Lucite’ you say? where from? – could I find any in little old NZ (more specifically wellies…) cool that they make the ice clanking sound :D
+ p.s. love the fact that you mention ‘Lush’ on here heaps its smells glorious! i work across the road from the the old bank arcade so Lush is so local for me!
