I am dressed faux-professional today!
The nitty gritty:
Hair in two buns
Pink glasses (I’m giving my eyes a rest from contact lenses)
Earrings from Sportsgirl (why yes, I do wear these all the time!)
DKNY dress (bought in Florida for something ridiculous like $40 down from $300)
Belt from my Forever 21 dress of the other day
Grey trouser socks snagged from my father’s sock drawer years ago
Licorice-strap zipper platforms
Swarovski crystal bracelet, charm bracelet & Tarina Tarantino ring
If I ever had to go back to working in an office, this is totally how I would dress. & my manager would just have to suck it up!
(Let’s do the time warp again: this is what I was wearing on this day last year. It feels like a million years ago! I do love that outfit, though.)

You dress like how I want to dress for work. You have inspired me to dress fabuleux and my boss is going to SUCK IT UP. Stunning, and quelle horreur when your website didn’t work for me in my lunch hour today! Thankfully, I have my fix now! Always a joy.
I want to work in that office! You pave the way and I’ll come interview once the boss is broken in.
Although, I admit when I worked at New Times LA (now defunct Village Voice type of paper), I was 26 years-old and had NO boundaries in the way I dressed. Of course, that was the editorial section of the office, so we were tucked away and hidden from the real “office types”!
And no wonder!

IN LOVE with those shoes! I have size four feet, but they’re very wide, so I can NEVER wear heels, which pretty much just fuels my obsession with them. But this is seriously one of my favorite outfits of yours.

Gala honey, where do you get such fab glasses and how do you know how to make them work for you? I have one pair yet my glasses are the thing I wear every waking hour of every day! Since realising they are a valid accessory, I’ve had the desire to get a little specs collection going so that rather than one pair that blends in with any outfit, I’d actually have the option of specs that enhanced the overall look. But I dunno how to choose or where to go! Any advice?

Oh gorgeous you are rocking so many hot new pairs of heels! Up until about 2 weeks ago I couldn’t handle high heels, all the pairs I’d bought just sat in my closet because I couldn’t handle the pain and couldn’t walk properly in them!
Now seeing you in your delicious McQueens and these divine licorice strap style ones… I’ve been rocking my heels as much as possible, and just grinning and baring the pain because heels are HOT!
P.S. A bit cross at you for influencing me to loving heels now.. Goodbye pay, goodbye savings, hello sexy shoes!

I’m envious of your ability to wear black. I always look icky when I wear black, and unfortunately, my job (I’m a waitress) and my hobbies (playing saxophone in a concert band AND jazz ensemble) require me to wear black on a regular basis. Do you have any tips on how to rock all black?

A — I have 3 pairs, one black, one pink, one purple. The two colourful pairs were bought from the same place, just a little boutique optometrist shop in Sydney. It’s really a case of spending some time & finding frames which suit you! They can be expensive (though they don’t have to be, & mine certainly weren’t bank-breaking material) but if you wear them EVERY DAY it’s worth spending the dosh!
Ghost — Awww! There is a party shop kind of near where I live, they have all these star-shaped balloons for the 4th of July selling for like, $1 each… I really want to go & buy a whole lot!
fran — I love socks with heels, I think it is such a cute look. I keep seeing great editorials featuring amazing stockings for autumn & I am dying to buy a whole lot of legwear in psychedelic colours!

Office chic is for winners. I like to wear sleek black, head to toe, with a bright red polka dot silk scarf around my neck. Makes me feel very airhostess/cowboy/french businesslady.
