  6. Ah, I’m so jealous! I think I might take a trip to Paris again this Christmas. Last time I went was years ago for a school trip & it did the city no justice. We were warned about muggers & thieves (great way to make a bunch of 14yr olds feel safe— way to go, teachers!), so everyone left the majority of their belongings on the coach… and then our coach was robbed. Good times!...

It feels like you’re within meeting distance now that you’re not down under or in the US, but in reality, you’re still miiiles away (well, I could just go & jump on the Eurostar from London, actually, ha.)

    Have fun!

  7. Aw. I guess I’ll be looking around next week, it would be awesome to see you there! :) Have fun in Paris!

  8. yoohoo mademoiselle~ you’re already there! i hope you had fun with your parents last week. i love european architecture so i’m immensely jealous.

anyway i’ll see you when you get back to new york! haven’t caught up with you in ages!

urgh i am ill with ‘le germ’ right now,so pardon my French quite literally!

  11. Isn’t France just amazing, I’m currently sitting my aunt and uncles large house in a tiny village in the Dordogne.
I’m in Paris towards the end of next week, how long are you planning on staying?
Any shopping and eating suggestions for Paris?

    <3 Sophie xo · Oct 4, 04:07 AM · #
  12. Hey you liar, it is not that cold ! ;o) I can even see some blue sky through my window. Ok, well, it’s fall, there’s no doubt (we doubt to have seen summer this year in fact…).
If it’s cold enough you may see chestnut sellers in the street, I just love that, windowshopping while eating chestnuts…

    <3 Lilith · Oct 4, 04:29 AM · #
  13. Gala, you look so amazing, and I am so jealous (but in a good way) that you’re in Paris right now. I have a question though. Where did you get your boots? I’ve been looking for a similar pair and I’ve had no luck.

    <3 nikki · Oct 4, 04:32 AM · #
  14. oh wow! this is simply wondeful!!

    <3 Aurelie · Oct 4, 04:59 AM · #
  15. Oh my gosh, I cannot get over how stunning you look! I mean, not that you don’t normally look stunning, but there must be something in the Parisian water because you are simply beautiful right now. My jaw literally dropped when I saw that first photo.

Make sure you get to try a banana and chocolate crepe while you’re there! If you haven’t already, that is… ;)

  16. Oh wow, I lovelovelove France! You look lovely.

    <3 Lauren · Oct 4, 06:04 AM · #
  17. nana — Haha, I am sure some photos will surface eventually but they will probably only make it to Flickr & Livejournal ;>

Aimee Marie — I was thinking about coming to London (Lou Lou was trying to coerce me to come over!) but as I’m only really in Paris for 4.5 days, it seemed like not quite the right time… On my next European adventure though, certainly!

Leilo — I fly home on Monday afternoon, boo!

gilda — I can’t wait to see you again! You have to come to my new place & tell me what you think!

emma gahan — Noooo, the boy I’m here with is working (tattooing) in a shop, so I’m in it with him right now pilfering their internet connection, & eating pain au chocolat before I go back out into the street! Haha. & see what I said above to Aimee Marie re: London!

Sophie xo — Hi cutie! Well, so far I have seen some pretty cool stuff… There is a Printemps Design store near the Centre Pompidou which is full of neat things, & Free ‘P’ Star is a good vintage shop in Le Marais which is packed to the hilt. I’m going to look at the luxury shops tomorrow I think, dangerous!

Lilith — Haha, okay well, it’s colder than New York ;D

nikki — Thank you sweetie! & I bought my boots on Zappos — I kept the link bookmarked because I knew people would ask me forever! www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/36353300…

Boom Kitty — Awww! You’re too kind. A sense of adventure is good for the complexion, hahah! & I would try one except banana is my least favourite thing (seriously)! I will try a chocolate one… & a lemon & sugar one… & probably a whole lot of others, though ;>

Lauren — Moi aussi! & thank you!

    What stunning photos!
You look gorgeous, and Paris looks magnifique!

You make me glad that I’m doing French at school, and you make me want to continue with it next year, which i wasnt planning on doing! =)

    Have a simply amazing time!
    xx

  21. Simple and elegant! Nice! Yeah, it seems that you can pull off any outfit. Or, at least, you really know what works for you. ;)

    <3 Trisha · Oct 4, 07:28 AM · #
  22. Oh, I can almost smell the city from your photos! Last time I was there I stayed in a little flat that looked directly onto the Pantheon, and had a teeny deck like that I would sit and write all morning.

You look beautiful and very Frenchie. Mmm, have so much fun and eat until you are stuffed!

    <3 Freya · Oct 4, 07:33 AM · #
  23. Maddison — I aaaaalways encourage learning languages. I took French & German at school, & I would have taken Japanese too if I had been allowed but no one was allowed to take 3 languages. Sad! You learn so much about other cultures when you’re taking those classes, & they actually have real practical application, especially if you plan on doing some travel in the future! Good luck with your studies!

Trisha — Thanks, cutie! Everything I packed (with the exception of my faux fur coat) is black, I decided that would be easiest! So it all goes together, which is nice…

Freya — That sounds amazing. I wish it was a little bit warmer so I could do the same, but last night I spent some quality time on the balcony wrapped in a blanket, which was fantastique ;> & thank you! & I just bought a box of 10 macarons, haha, I am going to gorge myself!

  25. This top photo is timeless with the exception of your pink hair. What a wonderful pop of color to add personality and the perfect accessory!
I’m glad you speak French. This looks like such fun!

  26. Oh my God, I’m practically drooling. I’m going to Paris in March, and looking at those buildings behind you just made me, like, a hundred times more excited!

As always, I adore your outfit. I think the necklace might just be my favorite part :)

    <3 Sasha · Oct 4, 08:11 AM · #
  27. What a lovely day that sounds like! Was there any tattoo-getting going on?

(When I first saw your outfit picture I could’ve SWORN you were in London, which is an awesome place with tons of uniquely-dressed beautiful people as well!)

  28. hehee i heard that the coffee in paris is like almost chewable- thick syrupy caffeinated goodness. have fun, gala!~

    <3 amalie · Oct 4, 08:42 AM · #
  31. angel — Aw, thank you!

Elizabeth — Maybe if I made it black & white, we could pretend it was an old photo ;>

Sasha — It is an unbelievably beautiful city, there’s no doubt about that! I like my necklace too, but the French probably just think I am weird. (If my hair didn’t already make them think that.) The funniest thing to me is that I bought that necklace in a mall in Florida!

Alice — There is plenty of tattoo-getting going on all around me, but I’m not involved ;> I am going to have the rework of my siamese twins finished off when I get back to NYC! Hopefully by the time I leave for NZ (mid-November), it will be finished!

kylie — It can be, especially if you pour two packets of sugar into it. Hahah!

    Nubby — Mwah mwah!

  36. Hooray for daily outfits! & from France! Even better…
Your hair looks amazing. The dress is wonderful, it looks like really something to wear in Paris, I don’t know why…

But this is the first time I don’t like something about the outfit; the boots! Is that a bad thing, I’m sure you don’t mind ;) I never could convince myself about boots like that… Bet they’re comfortable though.

Muach! Have a nice stay there! Don’t forget to buy some cute hats & scarves :)

    <3 irmak · Oct 4, 11:00 AM · #
  37. Heather — Merci! Yup, the architecture here is pretty amazing…

irmak — Ya, they are super-comfortable. I brought 3 pairs of shoes with me: these, my McQueens & my Manolos, & I knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking today, so they were the only practical choice! I like the way they look with the outfit actually — my dress is vintage but I’m wearing it with futuristic tights, so the boots add a kind of weird twist. I think I like it because it’s a bit unpredictable! & I agree that the dress is totally right for Paris, this is the first time I’ve worn it & really suits the environment!

    <3 Gala · Oct 4, 11:50 AM · #
  38. Gala,
My french teacher told me that instead of saying ‘brrrrrr’ when they are cold they say ‘glaglaglagla’ or something like it. how fun!

  42. Tres jolie! I love love love your vintage/future/badass black outfit.

My big question is: how do you get outfit photos when you’re alone? I actually was asking advice on just that today on my blog. The reason my outfit photos are so few and far between is that I’m totally hopeless at self-photography. Any tips??

Also, my advice if you’re on a raw-ness break in Paris is: do try to eat a baguette right after it’s been brought out from the ovens at the bakery. HEAVEN!

  54. oh, super cute vintage find! you look SO fitting in Paris! now, if only you could keep those adorable, quaint little Parisian-apartment windows as a permanent accessory with you EVERYWHERE you go…

    <3 Elizabeth · Oct 5, 07:21 PM · #
  55. You’ve got me longing for Paris again. Once I am a little older and a bit more chic I want to make another visit.

I wanted to take French but because I took Spanish for GCSE and there were so few of us my teacher told me to stick with Spanish. I can remember a little but I want to be as fluent as my english teacher who can translate and explain complicated french poems on the spot :)

On a random note a weather woman on TV was wearing your floral skirt from H&M (the one with orange and pink flowers, looks like a watercolour painting). I scared my brother by shouting ‘that’s Gala’s!’. You worked it so much better than her, she made the skirt look dull and pared it with obvious stuff.

    <3 Toria · Oct 6, 01:45 AM · #
  56. hahaha! i heart your ‘oui’ necklace! how apt.

  59. I hope you’ve been drinking Orangina out of glass bottles, none of that boring old aluminium-can nonsense. Those bottles are pure class – and i assure you that the juice only tastes sweeter when you drink straight from the bottle and feel the glass knock against your teeth…
Man, I love Orangina. (Too much.)
Glad you’re having a great time, cherie. Explore to your heart’s content!

  63. Ahhhh! Gala! Paris & you go together so well!! I love Paris – my favourite part? the Rue de chat qui peche (don’t know about that spelling – how bad is that…I am French (well I was born there but live in Oz!!)) tiniest street in the city right near Notre Dame and it’s the Street of the Cat that Fishes! Wonderful! Have fun! :)

  64. Gala, you look lovely. Lucky you, in Paris! That’s my dream! Going there next summer for my dad’s wedding though, can’t wait!!
Also, love love love the boots. Are they comfortable? I’ve been eyeing the tall version in dark brown for months, and I was thinking of asking for them for Christmas and my Birthday from my parents… (they’re close enough I can do double presents…)

  67. haha that’s so fabulous, one minute your in new york, then NZ now Paris- cool! It’s been freezing in London but now the sun has come out- very very peculiar weather. I suppose it’s transitional but it’s pretty erratic.

I’ve never been to Paris, for some reason I imagine it’d be fun when it’s cold because then you get to warm up with ass kicking coffees. I really like that outfit, your hair being the colour on top is so nice =)

  70. A bit late but I keep catching sight of these photos and just thinking ‘wow’! It might be the Parisian light, but the texture of your dress, and the vibrancy of your hair against the black canvas of the outfit, look simply marvellous.

  73. Aw, thank you cuties!

kate — Timmy took a whole bunch of amazing photos of me, but I have to wait until Friday to get them off his camera! (He is still in London!)

Ali-bell — I didn’t make it to Montmartre unfortunately! Next time, yes yes!

Material Girl — I am a big nerd & I carry my tripod & remote control everywhere! About 95% of my outfit photos were taken by me, alone in a room somewhere. & as for tips, my #1 tip would be to practice! It takes a while to learn about lighting, exposure, angles etc.!

Vixxie — That’s the best poem ever :DDDDDDD !!!

Elizabeth — I know! They make such an amazing background!

Toria — The thing with language is that you have to keep using it all the time. You should make a French friend & tell them to only speak to you in French! & your story about the weather woman is hilarious! Haha… Maybe I should offer to style her ;>

Katie — Yes, they are very comfortable now. But it took me a really, really long time to break them in, for months every time I wore them I got blisters, ugh! So it’s really only for the doggedly determined!

teresa — I went to Colette but it was CLOSED! Sad face!
