Essential Items: Faux-Leather Skirt
Forever 21 is one of my favourite places to pick up pieces to mix & match with the rest of my wardrobe — & one of their newest additions, the faux-leather swing skirt is so fabulous it renders me almost speechless.
I had been eyeing it on their site for about a week before finally making it mine. I wore it the other night with a black button-down tank, long feather earrings & Frye boots, & it was a great success.
The skirt is perfect. No exaggeration. It sits high on the waist & flares out, hitting at that perfectly-flattering mid-thigh length, ensuring you look long & lean. It’s faux-leather, meaning it’s vegan as well as inexpensive. The colour makes it extremely versatile — you can pair it with anything, from white or gray to royal blue or neon yellow. It’s suitable for most body types, coming in sizes from XS to L. Best of all? It’s available online, so it can be anybody’s darling!
By way of demonstrating how versatile & fantastic this skirt really is, I’ve put together a few outfits so you can start imagining how you could wear it…
The Post Apocalyptic Mouseketeer fancied herself a warrior for all things cute. Whenever she rallied her troops, she made sure her uniform was immaculate: an altered Mickey Mouse hat, a striped tank from Forever 21, over-the-knee socks from TopShop & a pair of Sam Edelman Zoe booties were all she needed.
Is Karl your co-pilot? To make him yours, team a Markus Lupfer merino sweater with a Karl Who? tote from Colette, Proenza Schouler studded boots & a truly fabulous leather hat.
The Licorice Biker loves a black & white palette. When she’s not roaring down the street, she’s drinking espresso & browsing in bookshops. She wears a 5Preview Coco t-shirt with studded fingerless gloves from ASOS, Frye harness boots & a striped helmet from Les Ateliers Ruby.
Catwoman’s birthday was a surprisingly civilised affair. She matched a metallic zippered leotard from Wet Seal with a pair of Zizi metallic oxfords & a Luella mask, before blowing out her candles & stretching out for a snooze.
The Sorbet Vixen consistently mixed high & low end to delight onlookers. T-shirt & sweater from TopShop, worn with Lanvin sunglasses, an Anna Lou purse, strands of pearls & an absolutely delicious pair of Givenchy peep-toe booties.
