iCiNG Transformation Challenge -- Announcement!
[ 10 April 2008 ]
I wanted to let you all know about something I’m planning to kick off soon. It’s called the iCiNG Transformation Challenge, it will run for a month & it revolves around us taking control of our lives & our bodies in a concentrated way! It’s like weekly resolutions but amped up in a way that would make even Victoria Beckham exclaim, “MAJOR!”.
The iCiNG Transformation Challenge (iTC) will run from the 21st of April to the 18th of May. It would probably make more sense for it to start at the beginning of a calendar month, but that’s so far away & I am impatient!
I recently decided I wanted to commit to a month of really looking after my body, to see what kind of results I could get. I often find it hard to stick to an exercise routine, just because it feels really aimless & sometimes the thought of exercising every couple of days until the end of my life freaks me out! By giving myself a task that lasts for a month, I find that much less of a mental hurdle & far easier for me to grasp. The idea is that I will realise how great I feel when I put effort into my physical well-being, & will want to keep it up.
The reason I’m announcing it is because I also thought that if we commit to this & do it as a group, we’ll all feel like we have lots of support & love helping us achieve our goals!
My iCiNG Transformation Challenge: I’m going to exercise every day, & I’m also going to eat 100% raw!
Both of those things are quite scary to me, which is a good sign, I think! I am going to stock up on lovely fresh fruit & vegetables, & armed with what I learned from Karen Knowler, I think I will be unstoppable!
In terms of exercise, I’ve bought some DVDs which are on their way, namely a Jari Love three-pack [Get Ripped!, Get Ripped! Ripped to the Core & Get Ripped! Slim & Lean — man, those titles are a gigglefest!], Shape Bikini Body Camp Transforming Workout & Jeanette Jenkins’ The Hollywood Trainer 21 Day Total Body Circuit. All of them get quite good reviews so I’m really excited to see how they turn out. I’m also going to do yoga, spinning, weights, swimming, go on long walks & dance in my living room. I read Shape Up Like A Spice Girl the other day & it occurred to me that the reason I normally get so bored by “exercising” is that I always do the same thing. By mixing it up I hope to keep my interest level high!
So, consider this your official invitation to join me in my transformation quest! I wanted to give you all a bit of notice so that if you want to take part, you have time to prepare yourself. Now, you don’t have to do it the way I am — your transformation challenge might be about quitting smoking, cutting down on your meat consumption, meditating regularly or just walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator. But ideally it will be something that you work towards a little bit every day.
“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.”
— Tony Robbins
Only you know the changes you need to make, so if you want to jump on board, use this time to brainstorm what you’d like to achieve & how you’re going to go about it. I can tell you right off the bat that I’m going to use a whole lot of EFT to get over the mental hurdles I have about regular exercise & going 100% raw! Comment here about where you’re heading & what your goals are likely to be, & I’ll see if I can write articles to help!
The iCiNG Transformation Challenge starts in a little over a week & a half — ample time to buy DVDs, stock up on healthy food, purchase exercise equipment, join a gym, find a yoga class, or whatever else you need to do to get prepared & pumped!
I’ll be giving regular updates on how I’m doing, as well as writing up lots of tips & tricks to help us get to where we want!
Are you with me, baby?!
Super-love & cupcakes,
Gala ![]()

WOW! This sounds so amazing! And I’m excited to challenge myself, since I’ve recently started eating healthy and exercising!
You mentioned Jeanette Jenkins’ The Hollywood Trainer 21 Day Total Body Circuit. That sounds good! It’s funny you should mention her, because I’ve just started doing her Pilates workout, which is a killer!
And thanks also Gala for some more tips on what to do for exercise. I too get bored easily, and at the moment I’m only doing pilates and exercise bike, so I definitely want to add more to my routine!
COUNT ME IN BABY GIRL! :D
I am SO with you! It will be great to have such a fantastic support network as Icing! Spring is really starting to show here, too, so I have absolutely no excuse anymore not to be keeping myself active!
the starting day has a special meaning for me as it´s the same day I´ll turn 19!
I´m a recovering anorexic so I will join with a personal goal: weigh 56 kg by the end of that time limit!
great idea honey! :)
I am with you!!
My goals will be to not eat any candy/sweets & to think positively about myself & my body at least three times a day!
I think a lot of what I have stored up is badddd self image. Boo to that.
Oh, goals! Ooops! :D I need more time to think on that one, but at this stage:
~ walk to & from work every weekday (20mins each way)
~ walk my puppy Slug everyday (30mins)
~ do some other type of exercise on a Saturday & Sunday
~ eat 100% raw vegan
x
IM WITH YOU GALA!
woo
I’m gonna write much more
It’ll be fabbbb =D
ooh, I might do this. I want to try. I’m just about finishing my degree and planning a holiday to Italy with my friends when we’re done, this might help me focus on getting in shape and helathier for it. All my girl-friends are slimmer and more glam than me and I want to make an effort to fix this! (ok, ok I know, be positive, they’re all far from perfect, but I just want to feel happy about how I look in my pretty summer dresses and bikini.)
I have a gym membership I don’t use nearly enough. Maybe I’ll try two weekly workouts and…eating healthier somehow? It’s hard since I always cook and eat with my bf who loooves his food. :s I’ll have to think that one through a bit more.
Ooh, I recently gave up beer, that’s a start right?!
Yay this is awesome. I’m actually always attempting something like this, on a “try it for one month” scale. I figure if I notice positive results from focusing on a certain idea/task for one month straight then it’s something I need to implement into my daily life, not something I just want. I’ve recently started practicing yoga everyday. There’s always something we can improve upon ourselves though, whether it’s our outlook, the way we handle something that irks us, or even just vowing to treat our own bodies better. I love your motivation girly!
I’m in! That’s the day after my 23rd birthday so I’ll need to get back into shape after all that wine and cupcakes.
The motivation will be a huge help. I regularly start something like this and then… get distracted.
Woooooooooooooooooo! Stoked! This is going to be AMAZING!
This is a great idea, great timing too because it is now springtime in the US and I am more motivated about getting out of the house. My goals are most likely going to be along these lines.
+Get out of bed early in the morning, make it so you dont get back into in, and help myself to a huge bowl of cereal or fruit.
+Water Water and More water. Hydrate Like Hell. (hah I like how that sounds)
+Have a dancing session before I go to work. I love starting off my day to a lot of crazy dancing.
+Take long walks at night with my sweetie bf, its a great way to spend time with him, and exersize.
+Try new ways to exersize
I already went through one of these 30 day challenges. I was vegan for thirty days, and though I dropped it on day 31, it totally made me aware of junk I was putting in my body. I definitely cut down meat and dairy consumption, learned new fabulous recipes and fell in love with soy milk. :) I know that at some point in my life I’ll improve even more my eating habits and these challenges are great for pushing it.
So, I’ll be happy to join your transformation challenge, though I still need some time to decide what do i want to improve. It will certainly be a health improvement again. :)))
Good luck to ya all.
Sounds great! I can honestly say (since I just did something amazingly similar for the last month) that I feel better than I have done in years and it’s definitely worthwhile doing it. I don’t exercise every day (because even my rowing crew have one day off a week) but I do more than 4 times a week and I try to eat healthily and I feel BRILLIANT. So high five! I can cheer you on, cos I’ve changed myself already.
Incidentally, I posted about it on my LJ evil so if you want to read about how I’ve done it, be my guest!
This is great! I’m awful at sticking to plans and regimes and stuff but having a definite ‘end/start’ and knowing there are other people doing it will really help!!
I’m going to:
> Go to the gym 3x a week
> Clear some floorspace and finally crack open that yoga dvd!
> Be very aware of what I’m putting in my body. i.e. natural ingredients only!
Also, I’m going to try to find an exercise class I might actually enjoy. I hear a gym somewhere around here does pole-dancing!
I’m going to focus on taking up good habits instead of restricting myself. :D With one exception, no more diet coke. Oh its gonna be hard. :(
whoa, this is exactly what I need right now. spooky. :]
i’m in!
Wow! Gala, what a wonderful idea! I can’t wait to start!!! This is just what I needed. Yay!!!
Such a great idea!
Of course I’m in too!!!
Definitely count me in! I’m not sure what my goals will be just yet, but they’re sure to involve exercising a lot more, drinking enough water every day, and eating more fruit and vegetables/less rubbish. Also, getting the right amount of sleep every night, at the right times, and doing relaxation exercises twice a day. I’ve been putting all this off for a long time, and the iTC sounds like it’s going to spur me into action!
I’m going to go on a total mental mission to obliverate my spots! Its gone on too long :|
That means homemade healthy food rather than crappy mayonaissey sludge from the canteen, or sugar-laden cakes from Spar!
LOVES ET!
Fantastic idea! I absolutely am going to participate, but in a different way. I am going to write every day for at least fifteen minutes. I am going to write and not demand immediate perfection of myself. Often I get so discouraged by my own imperfections so my project is to embrace my occasionally awkward phrasing and practice, practice, practice.
this is going to be great- i’m going to exercise everyday too, and get my sleep schedule on track! that’s actually really scary to me, because somehow i imagine that staying up all night or sleeping all day is artsy and interesting, but it’s actually just taking a huge toll on my body. here we go!
I’m commenting here so I’ll actually commit myself rather than thinking “yeah, I’ll get around to that at some point”. The dates are written in my diary and everything. What’s that? Motivation?!
My aim is going to be pretty much the same as Gala’s – exercise every day and eat well for the month. No more going to the vending machine at work (why oh why does it have to be around the corner from my office?!). I do have a bad habit of ditching this sort of thing one week into it, but hopefully Gala’s tips will inspire me to keep me going.
I am excited to see what the results are like too!
This is awsome!! Im going to take you up on the excercise challenge and do something everyday even if it is little. Also im going 100% vegan. No more caving to the baked goods my friends make….
working out every day is not very healthy. you need to give your body at least a day to mend and repair itself. you might want to consider one day on the weekend for rest.
good luck to everyone who wants to do this!
HELL YES!! It just so happens I leave for a cruise on the 20th, too! The masses of swimming pools will definitely be a good way to ease into more of the exercise that I’ve been going for every day, but my transformation is going to include a lot of meditation and a proper sleeping pattern to help turn myself around. Absolutely love this!
Gala, this is too weird… the day before yesterday, I started eating healthy and going to the gym. I didn’t plan it, or force it, it just started happening. I’m very heavy, and can afford to go to the gym most every day, so I’m excited that I just had this organic instinct to start getting fit. I was just popping on to your site to comment on it in the TiLT post, when I see this!
You have made my day, and given me a sign that I am on the right path! :)
Thank You.
I’m in!! I was just telling myself that I should go a month- drinking only water, and exercising every day. It’s like you were reading my mind!!
Totally with you….i am to be a bridesmaid at a beach wedding in 11 weeks and have already started eating better and exercising heaps more in prep…this could not have come at a better time for me,it’s going to be fun _
Hello, Gala! So, I have been reading your lovely blog for a while now & always find it an endless source of inspiration. But, I have never commented! How silly of me.
Anyway, just like Kaley commented above, I randomly began exercising for the first time in MONTHS at the beginning of this week. I really feel as though I need to do something for my body because lately I have felt pretty crappy about myself & the way I look in the mirror.
So, I am so happy to see that I won’t be alone in this! What spectacular timing! I plan on going to the gym (at least) three times per week, drinking plenty of water, & weening myself off the fatty foods that I have come to depend upon.
Thanks for the boost in my confidence & motivation! You are amazing!
Ooh, I’m in too! I’ve already been participating in a Good Health-a-Thon and been slacking, so I need to keep it up and keep working on it! Yesterday I went to the gym for the first time in (coughcough) weeks because I did it for my weekly resolutions, and now I’ve got more reason to go!
I’ll be heading off to Los Angeles on May 16th, so I’m going to work on getting my legs ready for shorts and skirts so I’m not wearing jeans the whole time I’m there!
YES! :D
This is a great idea! I’ve been meaning to get an exercise routine started. What better way to do it then here? Gala, how were those ballet conditioning DVDs you tried out?
The goals I have thought up quickly: – Exercise, in a few different ways, to become fit. I would like to be comfortable in my bikini. – Find an exercise class that I enjoy. – Eat more fruits and veggies. – Get outside more. Of course, with lots of sunscreen!
I’m going on holiday in just over 8 weeks time so a solid month of exercising every day should do me good. I have gift certificates to use up at Amazon anyway so I can go for broke!
And as the month covers my final ever exam period, I aim to work extra hard to transform my borderline mark into a solid 2:1.
i wish i could get sms’s every day or so reminding me and encouranging me.
it’s about time i get off my arse and get fit.after all, i do enjoy it. pity i can’t afford a gym memebership. it’ll have to be running, situps and the like and the odd dance class.
yay for cooler weather and encouragement
hopefully if i succeed at this i can encourage my bf to do this too which might help his depression which can only be a good thing.
woo!
I’m in!
I’m new to your blog, I think what you do is fierce. And I’m totally in on this challenge. I’ve been neglecting my body lately. Good idea!
I’m in too! With goals to follow.
Gala – perhaps you could recommend some workouts that can be found on youtube or something so that some of us who are literally incapable of spending any money can also participate in the try different workouts part?
This is SUCH a good idea!
I’m really bad on self-discipline, but I’ve been readiing that it’s like a muscle that you have to work at and make stronger over time.
My goals are:
To eat 100% raw (which I’m reckon I’ll find easier as I now find meat and dairy to be quite repulsive)
To do at least 2 hours of revision everday after school or do the set task. Whichever equals 2 hours first.
Maybe I’ll build it up to more later in time for the exams.
I can actually see myself achieving more next month now!
:D
you should check out this carmen electra dvd, it’s called “aerobic striptease” and it’s actually really fun!
www.amazon.fr/Carmen
I’m so down. My eating has gotten even better lately (through no fault of my own, hah!), I find as I have less ick in my diet I crave less ick, but there is always room for improvement, like even more raw foods. As it happens, I’ve also been eyeballing the gym schedule all morning, I have the membership, I should be using it!
I’m going to Bonnaroo with my boy and a bunch of friends this summer, I want to be able to run around in the Tennessee sun in shorts and tiny tank top without feeling squicky!
gah i posted the wrong link. here it is
www.amazon.com/Carmen
My transformation goal: Smile every moment. When alone, in the car, on the phone, taking a test, in the grocery line…
I will try to do this too! (Also, a quick hello, am fairly new around here:). Have realised recently just how much junk food I have been eating for comfort food, or just to distract myself from doing work! Am going to resolve to drink a glass of water instead each time I’m hungry through boredom, and try and use the time I gain to pass my exams:D
This sounds awesome!!! Is there anyway you can set up a chat or message board where we all can communicate with each other?
Hmmm… I think I’ll do this. It sounds exciting. Let’s see, my goals…
1. Eat raw every day. I know that I feel tons better when I start the day with a raw meal.
2. Drink less milk. I’m a milk addict, but I’ll need to give it up if I go 100% raw (which I want to do someday). I’m going to try and find a recipe for almond milk and see if I like that.
3. Eat less meat. I eat raw for breakfast usually, so that meal’s taken care of, but I usually have meat for lunch and dinner. I still eat family dinners, so I can’t help that, but I can cut it out of snacks and lunch.
As a side note, I’m also going to work on my original fiction and practice drawing every day. I need to set up a time for that, so that I can have a schedule to stick by.
This should be fun, and I’m going to try using EFT, too! I’d never thought of using it for this, but I have had success with EFT in the past.
I’m in. I eat healthy but my biggest problem is portion control. My goal is to eat smaller portions and work out more intensely
Y E S !!!
I agree with Leira Violet…an iCiNG chat/message board would be amazing!!!
Yes! My goals:
- Getting up before 8 am everyday
- Spending at least 1 hour studying on weeknights
- Not eating at the restaurant more than once a week
And of course, keeping up all the good things I’ve been doing for the last weeks, like eating 80% raw and using only natural products on my skin/hair :)
I’ve been putting off making a change in my life for too long now…
So, I’m in, without a doubt~!!
I don’t really know just what yet, but I have to do something.
( thank you for always being an inspiration, Gala♡ )
i love 30 day challenges. i just finished 30 days raw, and i’m now sticking to it. the exceptions will be social situations and oatmeal chai blueberry vegan pancakes! ha!
i started a no shopping challenge for 30 days on april 1, but i blew it on the 6th! but i’m back on… i write about raw food, and shopping and challenges on my blog. i actually blog what i eat every day if you need yummy ideas. i also love the community and recipes on goneraw.com/..
my blog is heartshapedsky.vox.com/
good luck to everyone!
Two friends who have recently started to join me in yoga & pilates, and I, were planning the other day to make a lot of excercise. To make plans like, go riding our bikes, running, running in the beach, and then yoga/pilates everyday. We were suppoused to start yesterday but I couldn’t and I can’t today either. This is the perfect solution! We’ll make an elaborate plan and everything, though we might add a few days from next week!
Personally, I want to keep healthy and stick to my diet!
Drink lots of water and cut meat. Last semester I cut meat off completely and you really feel a difference, so I’ll do that again.
Something else I need to focus on is starting-finishing my portfolio for my scolarship. It’s due May, and first days of June, but I want to do something that really shows who I am.
So I’ll need to make time for that.
I say, Bring it on, baby!
I’m so in! I’m moving house and all sorts this month so I might need some time to figure out exactly what my goals will be . . . (^-^)
hmmm…
I’ve been getting too much exercise lately! I’ve been working three nights a week as a hula hoop gogo dancer & it’s pretty intense. I’ve suddenly got quite a shapely ass & gained three pounds in muscle even though i look slimmer. I’ve also been a really good vegan…avoiding that taco bell by the club i work at for two weeks straight which is no easy task when you’re exhausted, starving, & buzzed.
So I think my transformation challenge will be about balance & moderation:
1) stretch out before & after work! usually i’m running late so i just jump on stage as soon as i arrive, & i injured my hip doing this last night. stretching after exercise is uberimportant too, so i will try to do this before i leave the club so i don’t just pass out as soon as i get home.
2) buy groceries & pack meals for school & work. i spend a retardedly high amount of money on food because i’m always on the go. my fridge is full of cartons of leftovers from eating out, & like A bottle of soy sauce. it’s pathetic.
3) limit drinking at work/drink tons of water especially while consuming alcohol. i HATE waking up with a dry mouth & red eyes from the night before! i’m going to make a limit of two vodka/pinapple juice beverages per night, at least for the month.
hopefully i can do all this. they seem like easy changes, but i know it will be hard. i need to get organized & make a budget!
This is amazing!! I have recently been cutting my portion size down and trying to walk more, but exercising and getting fit on my own is so boring!! My boyfriend is buying me ‘Wii fit’ on the 25th of April which is my own personal exercise dvd and board so I shall be doing that! I am also going to try and do more cleaning and baking and stop having silly issues with my face (thinking my nose is offset is the main one!)
Sunshine & Sparkles
xxxx
ooh, sounds fabulous.
I must say I agree with Anna, though. exercising every day may not be the best idea, especially if your body isn’t used to being so active. stress injuries and pulled muscles are not fun (and they’ll throw you off your workout schedule because you should never work through them- I ignored that once and ended up with 2 years of physical therapy to fix things)... so take at least one day off per week to relax. maybe stretch/walk to stay active.
Count me in! Sounds perfect, I’ve been thinking of quitting junk food and soda and other crap. I’ve been thinking, it’s an addiction, and I am an addict. Haha!
In fact, I’m pretty impatient, so I’ll probably start earlier. :D
Oh this sounds so interesting!
I just have to think of what I want to do… ;)
I’m excited now!
IM SO IN
I really need this and i think with your help i will
haha just started yesterday with a thing like this ^^ haha
but my goals
exercise more -walk the dog -do exercises at least 3 times a week -use the trampoline everyday
sleep more
drink more water
and I’m quite busy lately and I’ve barely time to do nice things, so at least once a day I want to do something I really want to do like, play violin, walk trough the forest, make photographs, and doing that feels good:D
and I want to discover my own style, I don’t like it to look the same as everybody else at my school(if you pick a random outfit from the H&M you know what that looks like ^^)
and I really want to quit drinking, I think that social drinking is kinda stupid if you can have fun without getting tipsy, since 6 months I already drink less, but I don’t want to damage my body anymore then I already did so I really want to quit (not that I did drink that much though):D
I hope I can make all of this come trueXD
xxx
I am absolutely wild for this…. for making a change in my physical self.
my goals:
• No more institutional food! Unless a human being made it with a pair of hands and some ready ingredients, I shall not place it in ma bouche!
• This of course means good-bye to all packaged sweets and hello to my cookbooks!
• Flexibility: If only I would give my legs a stretch every day, I could build up elasticity and not be so pained after a work-out! Also, I would stop being shamed by my short tendons in Dance.
• As for the mental realm, I shall work at least 1 hour/day on either of my final thesis projects. I shall! I shall!
Count me in!
Yoga or meditation every night: I’m noticing a disconcerting climb in my worrying. Time to incorporate healthy coping practices to keep things in check.
Less meat: I was vegetarian for eight years “in my youth” and now am eating too much. Time to find the magical balance.
Distance my diet from my boyfriend’s: He burns thousands of calories at work so he eats like a mad man. I do not and therefore should not.
I’m in!
*No more procrastination.
*Two hours of study everyday plus work on essays
*Cook myself dinner every night
*No processed foods
*Wear something fabulous every day!
In response to the comments by Leira Violet & PrincessMagpie about having a way for nonpareils to communicate during the challenge…
Sneaky Gala might have something up her sleeve already but, in the interim at least, I’ve created a discussion thread in the We Love iCiNG group on Facebook:
www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid…
Join! Discuss! ;D
x
1) Try giving up (well not completly because I don’t think I can ever do it completley…) Chocolate.
2) Set aside a time for writing each day. Just because I need to work on it.
3) Cook more often and eat less BK. I work at Burger King and I really need to stop eating it at work
4) Speaking of work try and keep going for work on my rostered times and not ‘take the day off because I don’t want to go in.’ No matter how much I don’t like it I need to keep up my obligations… and try and find another job.
Yep my goals are sorted and yes this means I’m in :-)
This is so exciting! I hope I can do this, wait no—I know I can do this!
1. Exercise daily.
2. Eat no red meat.
3. Write for an hour a day!
Sorry link didn’t work, try this!
www.facebook.com/group.php?gid…
picatoria — Unfortunately the ballet conditioning DVDs were obscenely boring. & really slow-paced. It was challenging but slow, & it bored the pants off me! Boo!
Anna & emelline — I’m not going to do the same sort of exercise every day, it’s just about keeping my body active. Some days I’ll just go for a long walk or have a boogie in my living room :>
My challenge should be to STOP BEING LAZY (ie: Procrastination)
My acting teacher was getting on my case today about how talented I was BUT I was lazy and if I got my act together I would be out there in front of thousands of people. I love my acting teacher… I just feel like I let her AND myself down in my first year of school by not trying hard enough. But my transformation has to start NOW!
But on the 21st I’ll get back to my healthy living schedual. I won’t be living off University food, so eating better will be A LOT easier. My job is walking around for 5-7 hours a day (including going up and down a flight of 35 stairs multiple times)... and if I make a play then I will be doing some choreography!
I’M SO EXCITED GALA!
Ripped is fantastic! I take classes with Jari at my gym — she’s a lovely lady and the results are amazing!!!!!
I’m going to get back to running — I haven’t been to my running group in over a month, eep!
im in!
ill try to go 4 days a week to the gym, and start eating more fruits and vegetables
Well since my exams are in that time period, I think mine should be rather exam based. Alas, that means daily studying (ack!), actually trying hard in the exams and using my brain rather than sitting staring at the floor and making up comedy sketches in my head.
I will also try and cycle everyday unless there is a reason, such as it’s too wet (I don’t really want to break any limbs!) or something to that effect.
Scary…ooh My first agility class with my dog is also during that time slot so we’ll also work super hard on that.
Ooh. I like this. I’m jumping on this fabulous bandwagon – trying to eat less dairy food! And coffee – gosh, that is expensive.
Absolutely love, love, love it! I am going to spend today thinking of what changes to make. Honestly, what would I do without a little Gala in my life. xx
Fabulous! I was just thinking about getting myself a gym membership – perfect timing. I’m in :)
Wow, awesomeness. I’ve just been trying to give up stuff with processed sugar/sweet things this week, and it’s been really hard. Now with a whole crew of nonpareils to do it with, I’m psyched!
Yay! I’m so in.
Will also work on giving up all the fake sugar stuff (diet coke, stuff with phenylalanine in it) – so bad for your teeth!
I love this idea! I’m so lazy sometimes, I need some serious motivation.
My goals are:
+ Sleep in less
+ Drink at least 10 glasses of water a day
+ Eat breakfast every day
+ Eat healthier, watch how much calories, fat, sugar and sodium are in everything
+ Eat more fruits and veggies and eat as raw and vegan as possible
+ Eat out less
+ Run 3 miles and go to the gym for an hour on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
+ Purchase 2 good workout video and do them on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
+ Stretch for 30 minutes six times a week
+ Work harder to find another, better job
How are all you lovelies going to be charting this sort of thing? Will you keep a journal or start a new blog, add to these comments or make a new post, make a list, or what?
I personally will probably start a new blog just for transformation progress, since if you think “blog every day without lying!” you can also remember to do your transformation every day!
The only thing is, these types of blogs can be deadly dull to read… consider my goals: stretching, ditching processed food, doing my thesis projects. BORING! ... at least, on the surface level.
I’d love to read anybody’s exciting transformation journey journal, perhaps we could start a list of them~SO… if we blog/chart our progress in public, I suggest we jazz it up! Reading how many cups of broccoli you ate today is like watching paint dry, but reading your delicious broccoli salad recipe may inspire me to cook my own! Besides, if you’re jazzing up your task so you have fun things to write, aren’t you just ameliorating the process all-around?
This is going to be grand! I can never stick to something if it is just me, but if I know it is a whole bunch of fabulous people doing it with me, it is going to be so much better! I can’t wait to start making some definite goals in my mind…
Gala, I don’t know where you come up with such interesting little things for us to do, but keep up the awesomeness :D

What a great idea! I’m so in!
I’ve heard that if you do something for 21 days, it becomes a habit – so a month is a great amount of goal time!
I’m in!
This sounds like a great opportunity to really make some progress!
My transformation goals will be:
1. Stop procrastinating!!
2. Actually follow through with what I say I’m going to do.
3. Treat my body well – afterall it’s the only one I’ve got and is with me for life!
4. Give up …chocolate! This will be most difficult – those cravings will be so hard to beat. Be strong!
5. Mix up my exercise regime to enhance results.
6. Live by the 80-20 rule watching salt and sugar content of what I consume.
7. Break bad habits.
8. Look and feel fabulous for Europe in July!
Gala, maybe you could write about how we can push ourselves to increase the intencity of exercise when going at it solo. Motivation and commitment can be quite hard without access to a support network or physical trainer!
Count me in Gala!
This ends two days before my 21st birthday—perfect timing.
Two things I’m going to try:
o Riding my bicycle somewhere every day
o Eating (almost) only raw food (totally brilliant idea, Gala!) and drinking nothing but water
I’m going to write about it here:
oddlily.tumblr.com
(There’s another resolution—to keep a little blog!)
This is fabulous Gala! Absolutely amazing! I Love it! I am so in! I am getting a new bike next week so that will certainly help me! So my goals are:
1) Exercise daily. Whether it be a long walk, a swim in the pool, riding to and from work on my new bike, yoga or ab work. I want to be doing one hour a day.
2) No alcohol. I have been wanting to do this for a while now. I hate the way alcohol makes me feel. I hate the pressure to drink. I can go out and have fun without drinking!
3) Eat slowly and with half the portion I usually eat. Try to cut out meat. Only eat fish. No junk food. Generally healthy.
4) Practice my Japanese for at least one hour a day.
Good Luck to everyone! This is just great :)
It would be good if we all had a place to chat. Or a general forum!
im in too
altho the 21st still seems like ages away
(and im in bad need of a body fix up)
think i mite start from monday
and then join in with you guys when you start
that way if i completely fail i have you all to kick me in the butt and say “GET MOVING”
:D
amazing idea!!
i am totally in gala!! my challenge begins on the 14th and goes to the 14th — can’t wait.
here is my plan:
– wake up at 7am, to bed by 11pm
– run or dance daily
– walk 5 miles daily
– stretch upon rising and before sleeping
– shower and skin brush daily
– no more than 2 hours spent on internet each day
– no caffeine
– low-fat diet with no nuts, limited seeds, limited oils
– emphasis on greens in juice, smoothies, and salads
– sundays as time of rest — juice and water fast until evening
it’s time to kick things into high gear!!
ooohhh, Gala
I can’t wait to start this with you. it’s such a great idea!
thanks!
ciao

i’m in, i’m in, I’M IN BLODDY IN!!!!!!
no more feeling like a lazy lump; no more saying “i’ll get fit someday soon”, now!
this will be amazing because i’ve never really attempted a fitness regime-just thought about it and psyched myself out about it, eeeek!!!
time to get planning, i just bought that Shape bikini body dvd; i’m going to have my mom do it with me!
Currently i work out for 1 week then have a week off, i do up to an hour and a bit each night, its a mix of cardio and other things. Really enjoying it, since Jan i have lost 12cm off my stomach and i have lost other cm form every where else. i just need some clothes now which are so baggy!!
I forgot to add that i work out to the Ministy of sound DVDs, great funky music and a great work out for your whole body!! Well worth it!
I’m in! this finishes on a very important day for me – the day I am doing a skydive for charity. I wanted to get myself in good mental and pysical shape for this
Thank you Gala x
Yay! I am in.
My goals are:
1. Spend at least 10minutes everyday writing in a journal.
2. Drink at least 2 bottles of 600mL water everyday. (2 mount frankilns)
3. Start mosturising my skin daily.
4. Stop eating junk food.
so i thought about this last night & here is my challenge:
> no criticising – at all & no bad words (as in ‘the f word’)
> full raw
> yoga everyday
maybe i will focus more on the first two. im not sure yet.
& oh i will keep a daily record – so another commitment is to write things down everyday in my diary.
this is such a good thing youre doing gala – i cant describe it with words! you are such a honeybunny. i cant wait to start!
i hope this journey will turn into a joyride for everyone :>
wow great idea gala! though i’m a bit stumped on what to do on my part. I’m a full time college student (three days) and works three days too…i can’t really exercise or eat raw.
i already think generally posotive (except teenage tantrums of course) but yeah, i’ve got no idea! but i wanna do iiiit!
any suggestions?
my goals:
-continue drinking at least 8 cups of water a day.
-eat 1,200 calories per day, in order to lose weight at a steady, but healthy, rate (i’ve already been doing this for a week).
-cut back on carbs.
-do crunches every day, increasing by 10 every week, until i am at 75.
-buy and try workout videos.
-more raw foods (i don’t think i am ready for 100%, but i am going to commit to thinking about my eating choices and habits more).
-less mindless alcohol consumption.
p.s. i am going on vacation during the challenge (may 5th-10th, so closer towards the end)...is it still possible for me to participate with you?
I’M IN !!
count me in too! :D
thanks for doing this gala, it’s just the motivation that i need!
I’m in too!!
My goals:
-Keep drinking 3 lts of water everyday.
-Exercise everyday (Yoga, Zumba, Walking, Jumping, Dancing, etc)
-Study an hour a day for my exams
These are three very important things that will change myself. I need to exercise and build a condition if I want to go rock climbing again in the summer, I need to drink more water because I’ve been really close to getting into the hospital for dehydration because I forget to drink water, finally the studying because I want to pick up my grades and be ready for finals season and I want to change my very sloppy study habits.
I’m really excited!
Kisses.
I’m going to join you, but I think I’ll start small. I always feel like I’m on the verge of hurting my body because I feel so negatively about how it looks. I get withdrawn, and I’m very self-conscious. My less than stellar attitude towards myself also probably annoys my friends to no end :P
I vow to stop saying negative things about myself, and to take POSITIVE action to make myself feel better! Whatever it takes, from changing my outfit that day to eating vegetarian for a week, I’ll do it.
Yeah! I’m excited for this too, and it’s ironic, because I had already started to really get fit again by eating better and jogging everyday!
I definitively am apart of this great idea!
Could our iCiNG Transformation goals also include physical AND mental things? Like, as we get fit (and sexier! Yeeeaah! Hot hot! ;D) we decide to quit bashing our bodies? :)
what a great idea!
My goals are:
go to the gym 3 times a week or more,
learn to relax on weekends,
more outside activities.
I do need motivation help for exercising, but I also need to be organised enough to have time to do it – I have higher priorities, so without planning it never gets done. I want to sort of get myself into a routine so that I can do everything I want to do everyday – exercise, writing, reading, studying, piano practice, crafting, blogging. I have recently discovered that with enough planning, I can do everything regularly and I’d like to see if I can motivate myself to do it every day, rather than managing it some days but not most of the time like I do at the moment!
So yeah, I’m in!
Long-time lurker, but this is my first comment… This is a brilliant idea! So without further ado, here come my goals: – to be nice to myself & give myself time to accept & get over some stuff that’s been going on in my life – to use EFT to try & make sure I am over it this time – to be consistently nice to a friend of mine who’s been on the receiving end of my failure to accept & move on for almost a year now (you can imagine the strain there’s been on our friendship…)
If I can fit in exercising regularly as well, that’ll be great, but it’s a secondary goal. (Especially as I have piles of work looming on the horizon, & that takes top priority.)
And btw, Gala, I love your blog! It’s so cheerful & full of life!
I am so bad at remembering to take vitamins, but when I do I feel better. Same with drinking water. And I’ve noticed that I really let myself slip into using negative and foul language when I’m upset lately…NOT GOOD! So my tri-fold goal is to hydrate my body by drinking more water (I want to start with 6 glasses per day and work up to 8 or more), supplement my meals with a multivitamin every day and an extra B12 or C a few times per week, and to pay close attention to what comes flying out of my mouth.
Thank you for the motivation! Woop woop – let’s go :)
“...exercising a lot more, drinking enough water every day, ...eating more fruit and vegetables, ..getting the right amount of sleep every night, at the right times, and doing relaxation exercises twice a day…” – Alice · Apr 10, 11:53 PM
Exactly what i want to change too!
Semester one in first year uni has so far been stressful and a struggle for me. Time to change!
give up cane sugar. it makes me mildly ill. i will get my boyfriend to help me so i don’t crack! to help make things exciting (so i don’t give in), i will buy a blender for green smoothies and made a list of tons of foods i like from whfoods.com so i can’t use the excuse that i’m bored with the same 5 foods. while i’m at it, if i eat foods only once every four days (generally recommended rotation schedule) i can’t claim boredom either. plus, i will take all existing sugar products to my dad’s house, where i can retrieve their evil selves if i still want them after a month.
i totally need something like this right now! : )
I’ve been really into healthy eating lately, but I still give in to unhealthy (but delicious) crap on a regular basis. This will help!
My goals: – More veggies, fruits, fish, less meat – Meditation daily – Yoga – Positive thinking!
oh sweet&snappy gala! you can totally count me in i have been attempting this same thing as of lately….but its been a struggle. for many years i have struggled with an ED and i am so sick of the rollercoaster habits. i want to define the line of happiness and health and finally realize how more important it is in my life!
My Goals:
be confident and consistant!
exercise [not overexercise]
eat healthy&happily [no starving! no binging! no purging!]....leaning towards more strict vegetarian
relaxing&allowing for “me time” [photog more! paint more! create more!]
thats all for now!!! i am wicked excited. thanks love!!!

Oh man gala i am so stoked for the challenge!!
i was just thinking about my life today and what i could improve on, and this is just perfect!! As a (mostly) recoverd aneorexic and bulimic, this is going to be a great way for me to lose some weight, the HEALTHY way.
my goals for next month are:
* get my aproach for hitting slides down. (a slide is a volleyball attack, i play on a competive club volleyball team as a middle hitter)
* stop weiging myself!! measure my progress by the reflection in the mirror and measurments, not a stupid, stupid number.
* use EFT more often
* finish my VFA final before the due date, no more procrastinating!!
*study for at least half an hour every night, even if i have no home work.
* excersize at least five times a week, (including two hour volleyball practice 3 times a week)
* eat more organic and raw.
thanks so much gala!!
xoxoxo
I have just two goals for this April, seeing that I’ll be quite stressed out with the school exams:
* I will sleep eight hours every night.
* I will practice piano three hours every day.
Yep. Doesn’t sound too hard now that I’ve written it down, but… we’ll see :)
Thats so cool, I only just recently found you Gala, and I am so in!
I want to train hard, to get uber fit for this netball season, and of course make healthier my diet, as well as studying more for exams and all that jazz.
=] xox.
that sounds amazingg!
i want too.
. wake up before 9, everyday. and believe me, thats a hardship.
. run on a treadmill, or outside at least everyother day.
. stop procrastinating on hw/studying/life, to ease stress.
. eat less junk food, maybe try making one meal a day raw.
i hope i can do it!
I’m totally doing this :)
I’m totally doing this too! Especially since I’ve been deciding to make some serious changes to my lifestyle for a while now, I’ve just been putting things off and off and off some more.
I’m going to be making a concerted effort to exercise more too, probably by running the 2, 5, or 7 mile loop every day. I’ve also slacked off in my dietary habits lately – I’ve been raw vegan (raw freegan, even) for lengths of time in the past before, but now I’m only vegetarian, and I really feel a lot less healthy than I could be, so I’m going to be at least going vegan again. (I don’t know if I’ll go back to eating 100% raw though because I’m at school right now!) I’m also going to maintain those daily habits of meditation, art/writing, and reading time that I’ve already implemented. And finally, I’m going to get my academic life back on track by completing all assigned work as well as studying a little before class to be 100% prepared (something that, as a slacker, I’ve never done before in my life!).
