International Dress-Up Day #004 Theme!
[ 16 May 2007 ]
The theme for International Dress-Up Day #004, this Saturday the 19th, is FILM NOIR.
NoirMuse suggested “femme fatale” but since I don’t want to exclude men, I thought film noir was a bit more all-encompassing!
“We’d be oversimplifying things in calling film noir oneiric, strange, erotic, ambivalent & cruel…” — Borde & Chaumeton
I am very excited about wearing my wig, cat’s eye glasses, high heels & a pencil skirt! I am also, of course, looking forward to seeing the participants’ photos!

omz!! this is the perfect theme! I think I really shall have to make an effort to do this; I used to do the whole 1940s/femme fatal look on a daily basis (high heels, bright red lips, Veronica Lake-esque peek-a-boo hair, etc.). haven’t done it in awhile, so we’ll see if I can still pull it off and have some fun in the process! :D
love your dress up day idea, btw—grown up gals just don’t give themselves enough excuse to do that! ;)
PERFECT. I am so excited. Especially because I just bought a high-waisted pencil skirt. Film noir is my favourite! (I even took a class on it at uni.)
oh the intrigue..
I literally squealed in class as I read this! My professor was a bit miffed.
I LOVE the look of Film Noir and my boyfriend is a fan also, so I’m trying to recruit him to be the male counterpart to my “femme fatale” in my pictures… I’ve never participated in IDUD before, but since my boyfriend is leaving for a month on Sunday, I figure it’ll be a fun thing to do before he goes, dress up and frolic(k?) about!
Now that I’ve written a novel, I bid you all adieu!
amazing theme ;)..I’m feeling dramatic..now I have to see how to translate it the best to a pic
eek!
i have some shopping to do!
although i love the theme, my wardrobe has fallen into….errr…not it’s most glamorous state.
love the theme, right up my alley!
Hey,
Just found your site and I want to thank you for using my photo!

Oooh, lovely! I’m thinking up ideas as I type this. :]
I (heart) Film Noir!
Splendid! I’m attending a wedding on Saturday eve and it has a black-tie dress code. I’ll definitely vamp it up in my noir gown and accessories. Can’t wait!
Mind you, I have spent the past few weeks painstakingly trying to determine what exactly the female definition of black-tie is. I’ve decide to go with a black strappy dress that almost sweeps the floor at back and finishes just below the knee at front. I think this will be ok… but I still have doubts. I’m going to find some diamonte type earrings to jazz up the black and maybe some accessory for my big hair (no slick French rolls for this bird’s nest)... Any suggestions?
Fun!I have a WHITE TRASH themed party tomorrow night so it will be nice to make up for it the next day by being ultra glamorous. Two dress up themes in two days!I might have to make my own up for Sunday just to keep the weekend dress up flow going.
Oh the excitement.
oh my god white trash is just the most amazing idea ive heard – halloween partay 07¬! I can’t wait until saturday, leopard print heels etc etck. (((Gala, what about an article on friend break-ups?)))
I am positively thrilled. I can’t wait to make this my first i.d.u.d. evah!
